  1. They do stop dead if no one is left online on the ship. The issue is you don't crash right away. Just because your game is frozen don't mean your character on the server is. Most the time during a DC I log back in and am still on my ship. a few due to lstancyon the server my ships a little ways out front and im in the water.

There's not a whole lot you can do. it's just the issue of when you crask, when that info goes to the server.

  2. On top of cutting down their spawns, balance out their freaking levels. Max level for tames is 30 it seems and max level for alphas is 300. That's a freaking big boost and thus far I'm on our 7th trip to re-tame all our beasts because an alpha snake spawned inside our enclosed animal pen. With 2 more biting through the walls.

Note we couldn't finish concerting to stone thanks to the stupid changes to stone tier making us have to sail out for metal and sap. So our wood stuff is just being eaten through.

  3. I'm sick of the stupid twisters every time it rains. I run a titan video card with 32 gigs of ram and the darn twister storms TANK my FPS into the ground. They should be rare and not massive 6+ massive twisters in one small area. God forbid you run into a ship of the damned while in these storms thanks to the rapidly changing winds. Lost a number of ships due to this nonsense.

Paste is made in a mortar and pestle with fiber and sap. Sap grows on the thin, red trees in Tundras.

These trees are from Temperate , not tundra.  They don't spawn at all in tundra areas. The closest north most or south most area to any of the tundra zones that has sap is K4 and K12.

  5.  I would also like to point out, for the players that are trying to reach the power stone islands for the purpose of fighting boss's and getting the stones now face a near impossible task.

With the fountain of youth in play on these islands, people are flooding to them in mass. Causing the grid to be so lag filled it's nearly unplayable. Like I said before we never made it away from the world border once we zoned in due to all the lag timing most of us out and the over spawn of ships of the damned.  We lost everything before most of us even knew we had lost everything.

Plus there are players that do make it trying to leave ships at the island for easy fast travel via the beds, this is filling up the available areas to drop anchor. Plus dealing with all the ships of the damned people are louring to the islands.

Overall the system is badly thought out. The fountain of youth should be able to spawn on ANY island to encourage people to go out and explore and not just camp the same few set of islands.

  6. I've seen this suggested before, and it really badly needs to be fixed, for both PVP and PVE.
Right now if you look at the live map of the top 10 companies it's not about how big of a company they have, but about how many land claim flags they have spammed across the whole game world. You see a huge cluster around two or three islands than you see all these random flag's spammed everywhere out at sea all over in nearly every grid. That and the fact that even solo players can spam flag's all over and can claim huge chunks of land for themselves just add's to the issue of there not being enough land for everyone.

Yes I get that you can steal land from players, yes that they made it so the more flags you have the smaller your timer, but the method of it is annoying and time-consuming. Like for pve needing to sit there for 4 hours to contest a flag, and if any person unrelated pass's by the time gets reset.

Plus who has time to contest ALL THE WATER CLAIM SPAM?

The game as it stands isn't about pirating, it's about how much land you can own, and it's forcing more and more people to settle in lawless as that's all we have left at this point, that and many don't want to see all their hard work ripped out from under them just because they leave and go sailing, and with it taking hours to get to somewhere your land can be ripped away before you can make it back. This ruins the game for those in smaller companies or those who like the solo challenge. Most my time in ARK PVP was solo, and I enjoyed it. in Atlas? Not so much.

Also we shouldn't be forced to join big companies to enjoy the game we bought. If we want to just play with a group of friends we should be allowed to, and not be forced to join a bigger company just to make any headway in the game.

    My suggestion is simple:
Limit the land claim to 1-3 per player, along with 1 water claim.
If you are in a company, Limit the land/water claim to 1 extra per X amount of recruited players, let's say 5 for a starting example.

So a company of 5 would still have the extra1 land and extra 1 water claim, if they get a 6th member, that boosts them to 2 land and 2 water capping at 10 members. They get an 11th member, they now have 3 land and 3 water.

If you join in with a company, any land/water claim you have is removed after 6 hours. This to counter people abusing the system by starting solo than joining up once they claim land, and it gives those who join a company a safety timer to get their stuff moved before their flag poofs (because resources are heavy and it can take several trips). You can also limit how many allies you can have to avoid people just running everything solo with everyone just set as allies.

This will encourage companies that truly want to get big to recruit more players and own a land claim size that they can reasonably support with their player numbers. Let the top 10 TRULY be the top 10 by their player count, and not by how many claims they can spam across the whole world.

This will also allow smaller companies and those who like playing solo for the challenge a chance to own and control land that is reasonable to their size.

It will also change the focus of the game more to its theme, Pirating.
Let raiding and exploring be the main focus, and not about wiping people and trying to steal as much land as possible. Let land stealing from others be the focus of those who are able to expand by adding more players to their company, or for new companies looking for a spot. This can make land disputes truly be disputes.

I would also suggest a hard cap on how many max land claims a company can have regardless of size to avoid the servers being overrun by huge companies that eventually just take over the world. With how big of an area a single land claim is, and the limit of what was it? 500 players per company? (and a lot of them the Chinese players) that's a lot of lands used up even with this limit in place. So a hard cap need's to be set, or after a set player amount you need more and more players to gain that extra land claim. So say if you have 50+ players. instead of every 5 for a new land claim its every 10 players.

Land is limited as it is, and with the current system, there's not an inch of land to be had even in the tundra areas as that's where most have all gone too. Adding in the tax system didn't fix the issue either, it just made people all the more greedy to own as much land as they can muster to get more of that tax.

With this kind of suggested limit, players will control only as much land as they can support with their player count, it'll free up large sections of land that are currently just spam claimed by solo and smaller companies.

This is a pirate themed game, not a SimCity themed game.

Just look at this mess. Is this REALLY what the main focus of the game should be?!

  7. Yes because we really want to sail for hours to reach the nearest island that offers us any kind of sap option just to create the paste needed to make stone structures.   Then sail back for hours to get home, only to have to turn around and sail back again for more sap.

Let alone go for metal, with how much it weighs we can only bring back so much.

Bad enough we already lost three ships due to zoning into a grid and running smack into ships of the damned that started pelting us before we even fully loaded in.

  8. I was hoping this would have been a thing when I first started. I planned to make it by making and selling ships I made. Only to find that no one can do bugger all with them. Even if you steal a ship all you can do is sink it.

They really need to set it so if you steal a ship, or if you unclaimed, then it and EVERYTHING goes to the new owner. I would say maybe not the crew, let the crew be a defense of sort, they fight you off the ship or refuse to follow you less you bribe them once you steal the ship.

  9. Agree. There needs to be at least a 2-week window that sleepers will despawn at. This is enough time for if say your HD crashed, or something went bad with your PC you can get it fixed and come back and not have lost everything. Or if they need to travel, or moving, etc etc. Also allows players to take least a 2-week break from the game to avoid burn out.

This also helps counter the people who I've found sharing this 'tip' of just buying an extra copy of the game and using that extra account to stuff a player in a claim and leave them there forever so the area can never be contested. A bit expensive but you'd be surprised how many people abused such in ARK on their hardcore PVP servers where you die once you reset to level 1.  Where they had the tribe owner just be an alt account and they stuff his body in a heavily protected box to avoid ever losing their base, tames, and what not.

  10. It's hardly 'realistic' to need to support vitamins. I have a friend who is not only lactose intolerant, but allergic to seafood IRL.  They don't need to be drinking milk or eating fish to keep their Vita D up.

That said I like this idea, as yeah we just kill ourselvs off than deal with the dump vitamin balancing. Worst unless you spec into the reduced vita drop you'll never keep your vitamins  up, and even with them they still drop far too fast and then you cant do squotabout them because you'll hurt yourself from over eating. Oh unless you spec into reducing the overeating damage.

...................really WHY are there perks in the trees for such nonsense? It's a waste of points and with how few we get its not worth it.

  11. It is stupid. We had a large battle ready fully crewed brig with three supporting crewed schooners. We never even made it to the power stone island. We never even made it away from the world border. Our brig came through and crashed head-on if not right on top of a red ship of the damned. Those few who managed to cut through the huge lag that was causing most of us to time out and crash saw a massive fleet of damned ships and we could do nothing, with the lag, studdering, rubberbanding, and most of us crashed we lasted all of a few minutes and had everything lost.

We were going to take two Galleons but thought to test the waters first. Good thing we did.

As is we are not going to bother ever messing with the fountain of youth. It is not worth it with all the lag, and the crazy amount's of high level spawns.  Worst case we are just going to take turns killing each other off and starting a new character. As sucky as it is to have to start over at level 1, it's better than dealing with that cluster of a mess.

  12. 3 minutes ago, Argh! said:

Another option would be to pay mooring fees to anchor in a Freeport... this does not preclude having a delay on the timer.

an hourly (gold) rate allows for (an amount of time) in the Freeport.
If you need to stay overnight due to unforeseen circumstance you will not return to a scuttled ship as long as you either prepay the "Dock Purser" or have the funds in a resource box on your ship -- Also limit this to any ship above the Ramshackle Sloop...

these days this is a pretty much non-issue, as the Freeports are mostly empty.
This definitely needs addressed before the merchant updates are put in place.

This would be nice, but also make it very costly and vary based on ship size to also help avoid people who have a lot of coin to spare from taking advantage of freeports.

This payment thing, + only have the rapid decay if you're not actively logged in (because the decay starts as soon as your in the zone, not just parked at a freeport) would be a good fix.

  13. I was going to post this too.
We are not taming freaking Brontos from ARK

The  8 wide, 12 high large gates are STUPID to have just because an elephant or a rhino are too wide to fit through the 2 wide, 4 high normal gate

Give us at least a damn middle ground.

The TALLEST/WIDEST Creatures that are tamable  (giraffe/razertooth) are just SIX WALLS TALL and fit through a THREE WIDE GAP

So all we need is a 3x6 gate!

It's just so stupid that we need this HUGE FREAKING MONSTER of a gate just to fit through a rhino that is small enough height wise to fit through the normal gate, but is just a nudge to wide at the hips to fit the 2 foundation wide gap.

  14. Agree. I tend to avoid freeports right now like the plegue just to not deal with extra damage.

I get why it's a thing, they don't want people using the freeports as a safe place to store their ships. But the fast rate of decay also makes it hard on new players.
The fact that if you die in a freeport, you lose everything, you have no body to recover items makes it very rough, and makes you want to get a raft (or a sloop now) asap to get storage to hold what you gather. But you end up wasting so much time and resources repairing that darn thing that you end up taking longer to get what you need to be prepped to leave.

I say the decay should be there, but it should be rapidly slowed down so long as the player is IN said freeport. If they log out, THEN start the rapid decay. The decay isn't so bad that if you got DCed you wont be down that much health by the time you get back.

This way players that are there, active, want to buy stuff, don't have to be in a mad dash rush to get what they want and get out of town fast. It also gives new players some breathing room to gather up extra supplies to survive the open waters with out wasting most of what they get repairing their starter ship.

I already saw a galleon roll in and players making a mad dash to buy crew and get out asap, to the point they miscounted and bought too many and nearly sunk their ship by over crewing it. They had to leave a small batch behind as they left. Cue the fun when the abandoned crew turned hostile due to no food/payment.

  15. The alphas are out of control. I am sick of taming and re-taming and re-taming yet again all our beasts because stupidly OP alphas keep glitching inside our fully enclosed animal pen. It has a roof and all and filly foundationed but they still spawn inside.

There level's are also stupidly nuts. With wild beast max level being around level 30 why are alphas spawning at around 300 max? That is a STUPIDLY HIGH boost they are getting. Least in ARK they followed the same level ranges as normal dinos and had a bit of a stat boost, they were still a threat if you were not preped for them but could be managed with a good enough tame or three.
But the stat increase these alphas in atlas are getting from 30 normal to 300 is HUGE even without any stat boosts. And when you get 2,3 even 5 spawning in your area wtf are you to do?!

Our mate just wasted 15 bombs and died 4 times trying to kill a single alpha snake, and there were still 2 more happily eating all our tames with nothing we could really do to stop them.

As he stated in discord and I quote:
"yeah, it took me 15 grenades to kill that snake, and 4 deaths!!
    and I am lvl 51!!!
The alphas are not in a good, fun state right now.
and seeing the rino and elephant die with nothing I could really do about  was a tad  frustrating."

Tone down the spawn rate and level range of the alphas on normal islands. With the high nerf to fire arrows damage we have NOTHING to defend against them outside trying to aggro them and run like max hoping to lour them away.  Because this is so freaking stupid seeing all these super OP alphas and having not a hope in the world to really do anything against them.
