The war system and timers on pvp and offline raiding sound like absolutely trash, some of the most fun ive ever had in this game were launching sneak attacks on enemy harbors and having them try to funnel out in a panic to meet us in battle, or defending against people trying to offline raid us but catching them in the middle and beating them back, honestly it sounds like everyone complaining about pvp as it is right now needs to seriously get better at the game or move to pve for a more relaxed experience. So what? you dont have the time to invest in the game? fair enough the devs should reduce the grind dramatically to compensate but changing the core mechanics because it supports offline raiding or attacking harbors to destroy enemy ships? give me a break, this is an extremely poor design choice for pvp and although i appreciate how interested the devs are in trying to fix issues i dont think any of these changes are going to really solve anything, And Offline raids are a thing because all of you smaller groups popcorn everything when bigger groups try to online raid you! i think the devs need to start paying a bit more attention to how the game is played at the top rather than listening to the 50 players at the bottom that cant get a foothold because they are unable to or unwilling to invest the time necessary to ensure they wont get wiped while they are offline.

PVP in hardcore survival games isnt for everyone, thats why there is always an option to join a bigger group, or just playing pve for a more relaxed experience. My clan takes in all sorts of players, pvpers pvers and everyone in between because both types are absolutely necessary when you play PVP. I seriously hope the devs think a bit harder about the changes before the big wipe day and change them according to feedback before people invest time into building, maintaining islands and waging war.

The thing is you do not get to dictate the way the game is designed. If enough players want the change then they will get the change and your whining won't do a thing. This is an EA game which means big changes can and will happen. This is one of them. I think all of those pvprs who are complaining about changes that aren't even in full effect should move on to another more grief friendly game.

The total sail surface area of a large sail is more than that of 4 small sails and is still slightly more than a medium sail. Ergo more surface in the wind leads to more force pushing the ship I don't think the sail units should equate to the sails total stats.

Smaller ships ought to be faster than bigger ships in most situations (unless overloaded), they are definitely better at maneuvering which again makes sense. I still prefer the Brig over the Galleon, it turns much faster and is far more enjoyable to sail and doesn't eat through resources nearly as bad as the Galleon. I still do enjoy the Galleon though. The weight sails and maneuvering sails are so outclassed by the speed sails for the one stat people want (not to be sailing a lot longer) that it's hard to justify using the others. Sure more weight is nice but I only have so much time a day to get the ship from A to B and I don't want to spend way more time at sea if I don't have to. Maneuvering can be really useful for the few times your destination is... directly into the wind. Otherwise tacking back and forth works although it easily doubles the travel time. As the bird flies vs a lot of 45 degree turns back and forth.

I agree they really should expand on the variety. They could have different hull types, shallow, wide, deep, narrow, etc etc all with pluses and bonuses to drag, where they are able to operate, turn speed, weight etc. The only way to bring the speed sail down is to make it worthless or make hulls which balance it out while using weight or maneuvering sails instead. Or other ways which make the speed sail not always the best option... Long term I think they will get there with customizing  and adding a lot more variety for ship types/builds.

In any kind of realism, the physics would break the small boat in half if all the force was applied to a single mast.

  3. Pocket single use no stack item. Inflatable Raft  Can be used  in deep water only  has both a use timer and a fast decay that starts the minute it comes into semi-shallow water "Anchor range"

This item is used if you happen to get past your attackers in a sea battle and need to make landfall at the nearest port.

Make it with fiber, thatch, and paste. Part of survival tree.

That suggestion doesn't achieve anything. No one completely destroys a base in this game and certainly not a stone one because its not worth the effort or cost given how cheap stone is.

This game is already 10x more defensive and passive orientated then ARK was, it doesn't need even more reasons to dissuade people from engaging in PVP.

Hmm, wonder what game I have been playing. I like how you ignored 40% of the suggestion and focused on the part you would hate to see implemented.

  5. Another solution.

A mechanic that allows a base to be taken over for the period of time that the raiders remain. They can then use the facilities and empty the place if they are not apprehended but they can't destroy the base. If the owners log in while the raid is happening they can fight to apprehend the pirates. Once they all dead or outside the circle the base reverts ownership and the mechanic resets.

You could make the mechanic a resource sink. Say it's the door. You have to defeat the door to gain entrance. Then you have in-game items different types of locks etc that people can use in combination to try and keep the pirates out. the pirates can pick locks or try to melt the door. Upgraded doors self heal.

  6. Base raiding had a distinct reason in ARK. You were all on one map your base could be reached in 10 minutes from anywhere on the map. You burned your enemies because if not there would be no peace.

Atlas is much different in this regard. There is no reason to allow total base destruction it would make more sense to have a mechanic where Pirates took over a base for as long as they remained and could loot it dry if they were not apprehended.  Pirates do not have a reason to base raid aside from collecting the loot.

  7. The Shadowbane mechanic. Funny how this game puts me in the mind of Shadowbane. I'm seriously waiting for the people to get a clue and form huge organizations to take over the world. Banestone was a good idea and one that could easily be worked into Atlas.

I would love to see base raiding demoted to burglary. Pirates were not for the most part big on taking over peoples property basically they wanted the booty and a quick trip to the local tavern.

I was Prankster [SOL] First and last standing city on Skorned.

  8. Too much emphasis on the land game for one.  Pirates were not into real estate aside from a few towns  A stone building should not be worth the effort to destroy. That's what doors are for. Without automated defenses, structures should simply be invulnerable while the owners are offline.  Raiding empty bases are not PvP

  9. Fishing is all wrong.

Fishing should consist of poles and nets. Bait should be worms dug from the ground or perhaps found under rocks/roots. Bait should also be fish. you catch a fish and you use it to catch other fish.

Nets for at sea. You take a bunch of fish meat and chum the waters than when the big ones come you net em. When the really big ones come..  Well, maybe you run!

    Cmon it's not rocket science.

No...this is a pirate game. Not a colonial peace where everyone is merry and loves each other game.

You don't want your land taken? Build walls, put aggressive tamed animals in them and put cannons and mortars up.

    Quit whining.

What I'm hearing is Blah I won't be able to ruin as many peoples fun if something like this were to be implemented boo boo.. boo.

  11. With the level of vitamin dependency  and the ingredients already listed, it would be a good idea to implement these simple changes to the cooking skills

    1. Bread can be made from any ground grain. Maise, Rice, Wheat,  add water for plain bread. Cultivate yeast from old bread and water make sourdough for a +

    2. Soups and stews by default in the cook pot. Any 10 protein, water, and vegetable = 5-10 Soup  Soup give you minimum across the board gain. Add oil and flower for stew and get medium across the board gain.

    3. Sandwiches. Meat + Bread+ Veg = Minimum across the board Add egg or cheese. +

We need to go back to making glue out of animal bones and milk.

Fishing should be done with worms which should come up from digging.
