Freeports do not give you discovery point now!

Pretty sure I said explore nearby islands, that implied the islands around the freeport. Fast Traveling to the free port is just an exploitative means of travel since rafts/sloops are easy to craft, you just sail to all the nearby islands in neighboring zones and get the POIs.

The reload skills are for you only not your NPC crew, I picked up those skills first time around and was dissapointed too.

It's true! Reload skill only affects you personally. It's truly amazing. We would get like 7 guys fully specced on cannon reload on high grade medium cannons with only NPCs on sails, and those cannons shot like machine guns. It was amazing how fast you could sink a galleon with a dedicated group of people....

Hahahaha lets be honest, we sailed that shit right into peoples harbors and would sink every boat they had in minutes.

  3. It's an unfortunate mechanic that seems like it was meant to force people to travel/explore.

If we learned anything from Megatribes and how they operate, most didnt even use legendary/mythical tier ship components unless they could dupe them, because they were a complete waste of time on average for the percentages you got. We still did farm out all the different mats, but they were usually used on rifles and armor and cannons for carts than ships. Most efficient method for farming was simply pulling up a resource map, spawning on a nearby freeport and making a sloop or raft and sailing it to the island(s) in question, dropping beds and naming them for the resources, and then you'd have 5-10 guys farming that location around the clock, and later a weight galley would show up to haul hundreds of thousands of whatever it was back to a centralized location.

Ideally you just grinded out Whites, greens and blues that had super high stat rolls, that were also super cheap to make. We had boats floating around with white tier cannons that had upwards  of 140% damage before being crafted by our Int chars with our mythical Int crafting sets, they were coming out with 160ish damage, we had greens that could craft out to 170+.

THey were far more viable for resource cost and combat, because it was no big loss, everyone farmed Red SoDs to level our ships up, so high quality low tier BPs were coming pretty common. We'd have ships made of whites, greens, blues out there with high rolls on high crafts on them out-damaging legendary/myth tier ships just lining the sea bed with their boats.

requiring 5-6 different mats to construct a single component is just silly. Can it be done? Absolutely, will it be done? Absolutely, but most of your hard core efficient players will find a way around this severe inconvenience, so it's largely a moot point for people who knows the ins and outs of the game, and it's just a setback for small groups who think they need these high tier components in order to compete.

The system is a hindrance at best, and a psychological crutch for casual players at worst

Same with vitamins. Most of us would level up the traits that drastically reduced vitamin consumption, and just killed ourselves to be reset. Respawning time far outweighed the time sink in trying to maintain your vitamins. Out at sea in the middle of a battle? "Guys its cold AF, im low in Vitamins, someone shoot me in the head and take the helm". few seconds later homeboy was back and good to go. All day every day.

Now that they have a bit of money from xbox players buying this game, they will now be able to pay their programmers to look into these types of bugs. relax

Uh no. This game was developed entirely using ARK Survival Funds, and it released and sold a ton of units on PC, they fucked around, didnt listen to their players, added shit no one wanted or asked for, they should have plenty, and if they dont, well what the fuck did they spend all this time and money on? It hasnt even been out a year yet. The game was funded by ARK, further funded by over 1,000,000+ PC units(According to Steamspy recording of users with the game in their library) at closes to $30 a piece. They shoulda had plenty to last a good solid while. But Alas, they dont know wtf theyre doing.

If theyre in dire straights for money, pushing a gash grab on console to people who dont know about how bad it is, is not how fix your game or do good business.

Reason being, they now have to split time and resources all of which cost MONEY between TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PLATFORMS. Makes sense right??? No it doesnt. Because allocating all this time to fix the massive FPS lag on xbox isnt fixing any PC issues, meanwhile any PC fixes arent going to resolve xbox issues. They fucked themselves worse than before.

  5. Pointing out their shit business practices, directly ignoring core issues, not communicating, poor planning, segwaying into bullshit like console porting, is constructive criticism they didnt listen to duing ARKs entire history, and they made this fucking abominable shitshow and are doing the same thing.

Everyone here is being truly constructive, it's just a matter of how you look at it.

If you sold as many units as ATLAS did and 95%-97% of your entire playerbase abandoned the game due to all the said issues, wouldn't you stop and question wtf did you wrong, or wtf you're not doing that got you here?

Nah, you divert all your assets to porting a mostly broken unplayable mess to a platform literally no one asked for.

Is that a critique good enough for ya?

  6. No, you're not a tester, you paid for early access to a game before it releases, it should be in a mostly complete and playable state while the finishing touches are added before official release.

What you are is getting used and abused.

Instead of stupid comments can we get people to try this fix and report on results?  It would be much more constructive and allow the devs to zero in on the causes of these issues.

The Devs are the cause of the issues.

The game has problems running on most peoples PCs, and they ported it over to a console with less dedicated resources to run it, and you're all like "Well lets be constructive and allow them time to fix the problems they havent even fixed on the native platform on this brand spanking new platform"

Yeah no. I'm not jumping on that train of hope, because we know it ends at the Tears and Sadness station.

This is the direct result of an 2017ish Ark Expansion turned into a standalone, that released to a mountain of issues that still havent even been resolved/touched before their cash flow abruptly disappeared due to the massive amount of negative feedback from their customer base, so their solution to this problem? LETS PORT IT TO CONSOLE INSTEAD OF FIXING THE PROBLEMS!

Yall jumped on the hype train and didnt do your research, got what ya paid for eh.

  8. This is the most amazing pessimistic support I have ever seen for a video game ever. "Yeah we know these guys are a dumpster fire, but we're here to support them and take bets on how bad it really is gonna be".

Good Game Internets, yall done it again. Kinda reminds me of the city Ankh-Morpork from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, that shit predicted modern internet behavior back in the mid 80s.

  9. Ironically though, they have a public test realm for the very thing he addressed there, which is for some reason going largely unused. So if they are going to push out content and other updates fixes to the public realm without adequately testing them, I'm gonna be super honest here... It wouldnt be the first, second, third, etc. time theyve done that. Sooooo it's entirely plausible.

  10. I think you misinterpret the situation...

It doesnt matter wether PC has a headstart or not, you are paying money for an EARLY ACCESS PORT TO CONSOLE. If you spent the time to come here and complain you could have spent some time to educate yourself on these DEVELOPERS and their history of poor decision making, lack of follow through and said to yourself; "Gosh this is probably a bad idea, like that hooker back in cancun, acne and the smell aside financially it was a pretty good deal until it wasnt, because I didnt see the warning signs, and now I have a really bad itch..."

That's where you're at right now sweetheart.

How dare you have the audacity to come here, he who has not been scorned multiple times by these Devs and even pretend to have a problem!

    🤣
