  1. Biomes for breeding are correct the temperature can be different due to height or different sides of the same island.  You the breeder has a couple of ways to achieve success. You can stay in the mating biome and raise the babies which could require A lot of iceboxes and fires or grills. Also, you need to know you cannot breed them on a boat in the correct biome it will say "not desirable biome for mating". You have to be on land in the correct biome. I will take animals on a boat put them on land breed them then ship them back to temperate this is easier with giraffes elephants and rhinos cause the gestation is 6 hours or thereabouts. I know some people who set up bases in the correct biomes and breed and raise them there although this is more hands-on until the animal gets 10%. I breed in the correct biome ship them back to temperate and use a raised floor with campfires underneath. This I found is easiest for me doing it solo one fire is give or take 1-1.5 C degree change. I just set the fires to load them with at least 1k wood and this will last for 8 hours which is what rhinos elephants giraffes razortooth tourtugars require to get to 10%. I know some people use torches. I found in tropical and desert the temp swing from day to night is so great its hands-on till you get to 10%. You can do veggies eaters with berries though they spoil fast. A good rule for the survival of your babies which is overkill but works is one trough per baby. Meat eaters Razortooth lions tigers etc should have cooked meat this last about 13 hours with one trough per baby full. Once they get past the first day they eat a lot less. One trough per baby first night is a good formula for success. Egg incubation I only do in temperate with grills and you have to find the mix right now in my egg incubator I have 13 grills arranged in a special pattern which I use for razor tooth and tortugar eggs it a set and forget configuration that incubates the 4-hour eggs. Once you can load the baby with 6 slots of 100% food they will live till they eat off the trough some animals only need 5 slots but each type of animal is different. Also, the time that the food expires is different a lot of breeders grow potatoes cause these are the best for veggie eaters.

    Your Welcome,

    Skeetathon     skkkkkeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

PS. You guys are lucky that we that have been doing it from day one showed the devs, in the beginning, the temperature affected the animal for the whole time period so the only way we did it, in the beginning, was by smoking crack rocks.

  2. There is a bug I think if you do not go on your ship after a certain period of time it will despawn. It not enough to be close to it you have to get on it to reset the timer (not you cannot see the timer). Once a week you should get on every ship you have. No one can claim ships in PVE.

  3. My levels are all over the place at the moment pre 1.5 it was a random level between the current level of parents. Now I'm getting lower levels than parents current levels which didn't happen before 1.5. something ive noticed while taming from a bear mount is looking at the damage they hit your bear with if its 13 or 14 they will have high 150% damage.

    hello breeding brothers,

i got a melee 154.1 bear so far and i can confirm that there are mutations. some of my babies got 1 mutation on mothers fathers side.

my highest breed is 53 right now but i´m working on higher lvls^^

my bears have bad health and stamina so i think the other values must be pretty good?

    656.3 5100 486 1121 3940.5 850 154.1

i´m interested in exchanging breeding bear, contact me.

Thanks for confirming mutations bred a couple of batches and didn't get any out of 14 baby bears but its good to know someone had some.

  5. Got some bears yesterday with 1000 base stamina. Also found a bear today female wild level 27 before tame 815 base health. Still trying to hunt down a bear with 160 or more melee to breed some good bears. 140 is average melee anything 113  is low melee. Highest I've seen "pre 1.5" base melee 175 in a non alpha bear which was 1 in 50 of all my friend's bears

  6. I'm losing tames on servers cause they get caught in the brush or whatever else. I would like minimap icons for tames on the current server so I can at least know where they are stuck on the map that I'm in. I'm usually running around with more than 4 tames at a time and when traveling all over the map they are getting caught by the time I notice and backtrack sometimes I get lucky other times I have no idea where they are.

anyone set up an auto famr gor rhino's giraffes and elephants yet? got the bear one running now im spitting out loads of babies and litrally dont need to look after them at all once they can hold 500 potatoes like stated above

The best I've found is temperate cause it doesn't get hotter than 20c. High and Low and tropical and equatorial all swing from 5c to 47c and tropical 15c to 47c. The problem with the higher temp is if you have fires the animal will overheat. I use roughly 20 something fires and load them up. Breed the animal in high desert during the day and transport after breeding back to temperate. Load the fires get them to 10% and load the troughs and that's the way I've found that works for me. I've only done elephants so far but it seems giraffes and rhinos are near identical biome and heat wise from the mating testing I've done.

I've updated gamepedia elephant section breeding with the temperature information.

i was expecting you to say tundra zone tbh

You could do tundra you would need about 7 fires. With one of the older patches, they made baby animals not affected by extreme weather. Experiment and see what works for you I found what works for me with bears and elephants. I did testing with bears pre 1.5 so I had them dialed in before this patch. My next tests are giraffes and rhinos. Remember you can only heat up at this time you cannot cool down. and ceilings have no effect so don't bother with a roof. Also, proximity to the fire makes a difference. In my early testing, only fires and torches worked. I still stick with fires cause they don't need repair.

  9. Id say high or low desert would be the hardest cause the swing from 5c to 46c. Tropical and equatorial are 17c to 46c. I'm experimenting now with breeding them in the correct biome then transporting to a colder biome to see if I can load up fires and find a more automatic way of doing it like I have my bears setup for so I don't have to stay awake for 43 hours. Although I believe the coding is buggy cause I've had them get hot at 26c in equatorial.

  10. I don't think they were this bad pre-wipe and I think they were good pre-wipe. that's the main thing I'm saying. I played that a lot and never really had an issue cause I'm solo and don't farm gold I'm taming and breeding. I think the distance on SOTD sloops needs to be turned down a bit those are the ones that are chasing me and outrunning me in no wind. Here is the Sotd two hours later I arrived in time to see it sink my ship. It destroyed my bed so i couldn't spawn on it this was the sloop I built just to get my bear back. then I decided if I'm gonna lose something mine as well try a raft.

They Need to atleast have a but of danger to them. Other than beeing faster with almost no wind, its easy to Sail away or avoid them. Thats the reason to only Sail with Decent wind or have Cannons to defend

I did have good wind actually I was in water sprouts and ships of the damned spawned in with them that's how I lost the first sloop and the bear to begin with. I usually don't sail in the rain but at the time it started raining I was in the middle of the ocean.

  12. I'm trying to recover a bear and ships are congregated near my wreck im in a tundra map so swimming will not work. They are pursuing me way to far in a Sloop and they are far too aggressive and clustered together. Just lost my second sloop trying to recover just my bear. I don't have anything on the ship worth going back for except the bear floating above it. I also notice in "next to no wind" they are faster than a ship which seems unfair them to be propelled faster than a ship that's using full wind and a giant speed sail.

  13. The system they have now is damage per tick to the baby animal gets worse the older it gets. I forgot the exact numbers but it starts at .05 or .5 then .10 then .15 or something the older it gets. so you could lose one at 95% maturation in 5 minutes cause damage model is that bad due to hot or cold islands.
