  1. I went through this problem  several times over the years but was always related to the screen mode I couldn't use full screen.

    However this time it just happened out of nowhere and had me thinking about the post above.So I did a google search for corrupted windows files and found a fix I have seen before.So I  used this Microsoft link...https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/topic/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e 

    Then after running those two file checks it did say there was corrupted files and then reboot computer and everything was ok again and the game sound was back.I think we recently had a windows update but really leaves us with concerns as to why we would get corrupted files after an update.

     


  2. BTW i just came back to try this game and it made me VERY bitter,my cannons disappeared my armor disappeared ,it is like we keep resetting the game because of pvp players.

    I did a full exit of game and will not ever play this game again because of most likely people going in to DISCORD and crying about how THEIR pvp experience isn't perfectly how they want it, i DEMAND NERFS !!.

    So part of the blame is on pvp crying and part on the team for completely ignoring the pve players and soloers or small groups.Some of this games most staunch supporters have all left and are playing Valheim and Valheim is not even a good game,that says a lot.

    BTW..How has the pvp population evolved with all these changes?it hasn't ,,instead it devolved down to nothingthat kind of tells you right there that the direction has been the wrong direction to take.


  3. There are several levels of BAD decision making here.

    1 I have stated for a long time PVP is ruining ANY chance this game has at being fun because it is the pvp players ALWAYS whining.

    2 Since when does the craft % give you better aim or make you more skillful?You still have to aim no matter what the cap is.

    3 There are so FEW points to spend that it should come down to CHOICE on how to spend those points.Why should CHOICE to put more into INT be removed by pvp whiners?So what this comes down to is NO you don't deserve to have a say or CHOICE because  ME ME ME  I want blueprints and INT to have no purpose and just turn this game into a BR...aka Fortnite.

    4 All i have seen over and over is nerf nerf nerf,nerf pets because pvp whining,nerf canons pvp whiningnerf crafting pvp whining,You can't put cannons there nor there WHY>>pvp whining.

    5 Maybe now the most important part,TWO types of players,,this team should be catering to BOTH and not one set of pvp whiners.You want to make changes to ruin FUN to cater to pvp players,fine give them their settings and leave the PVE game alone because god forbid some if us just want to have some FUN!!

     

    So is it more important to keep nerfing everytime a pvp player wants to go  to Discord and cry about we need more nerfs or is it better to just have some FUN playing?I mean my god the amount of change over pvp alone has been insane.Even worse is that all this time change change change,,the team SHOULD have been cleaning up the code and bug fixing and looking for more FUN things to do instead of removing it.

    Finally...I guarantee this is not the last we hear from pvp crying,,they cry and demand this game be nerfed right until it ends up a BR Fortnite game.

     

     


  4. I think the OP is mixing up farmhouses with breeding,they are a separate worry not together as one.

    Breeding was complained about in Ark "by the devs" ,they said it was too much of a strain on servers.

    Farmhouses and Warehouses are a form of "automation"that is a direct contradiction to what the OP is claiming as this is making it so you are NOT playing the game,it is playing itself.

    So i have to ask,WHERE did the op come up with these ideas and conclusions because they  are not factual.Everything i stated IS factual.

    This game was NEVER advertised or sold as a battle Royale on seas.The marketing video gave a vision of what players should expect from this game.The game as released gave gamer's a vision,that vision was Fantasy,WAS PVe and of course also pvp.So don't point fingers at PVE players if they just want to have some FUN with the game and not turn it into a battle Royale on seas.

    I am quite sure most know of Dr.D and his sidekick buddy.They were playing SOT and that is also supposed to be a pirate game,they turned it into nothing more than a Battle Royale that ALWAYS ended up as a BR on land.So be careful what you ask for because the writing is on the wall,if you try and diminish this game,turn it into a shallow one dimensional game of BR on seas,you will have RUINED the game.


  5. I constantly hear people defending ideas but forget this team implemented torpedos and submarines,so how does the team adhere to the Pirate theme?So we need to quit creating excuses.

    FACT:They have been complaining about server strain from breeding in Ark.They have been trying to work around it in Ark but with less employees and less care for Atlas,don't be surprised to just see them remove stuff.

    I want to QUIT seeing nerf after nerf ,i want to see the game grow and NOT with automation like farmhouses and warehouses.So again if this was adhering to a true PIRATE game,would they have warehouses,farm houses?NO so yeah quit making excuses for them.

  6. I will set this argument straight,it is NOT simply a means to get out of freeport.

    I know  streamer group of very good players that used nothing but the Ramshackle for months.

    Reason? PVP why would you spend time building something that will be destroyed quickly?So  this one streamer was very careful moving around and figured if anyone takes his sloop he can just spawn back at freeport and grab another one.His goal was to get as many points/discoveries before wasting time on anymore of the game.You have to be at a point inthe game to defend your self and your stuff,that takes a long time unless you have 20 buddies helping you,MOST people do not.

    Plus as someone else already mentioned,the ship wrecks are a FAST and easy method of gold and blueprints.

    Personally i loved the ramshackle,i could put 4-5 cannons on the back "all i needed"easy to steer,gets in anywhere.Yes the one drawback was weight,i put all my points into weight.What i did was start by just zipping around and gaining points,no need to stop for anything,if i die respawn in bed,continue zipping around,weight was up in no time.

    if your on pve then sure,simple to make something worthwhile to ride around in but you can't forget the pvp side of the game,it changes all your decisions.

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was going on with tames when they were lost and my experience has seen only two results.They can be lost right on a zone line "lag" but will actually show up 20-40 feet from the zone line "either side" or are floating around somewhere in the water depending where they fell off.

    For the most part,i would say they are gone for good.I tried actually hopping on a fast mount and chasing them down when they went floating off and they just disappear.Some float upwards and they also disappear for good.

    To be honest i have not had this issue with lost pets in quite some time,over a year.However i did have issue with npc's i claimed from pirate ship fights.Once in awhile one would bug and just floating away or bouncing away.It always appears to be an issue after crossing zone lines which has been a long standing issue with this game since day 1.

    On the matter of pets in the water,often those have washed into shore after falling or being whistled off a passing boat and or the boat was sunk or decayed over time.I honestly have not had pet issues in over a year other than my own mistake with accidental whistles and why you should take pets off of group whistles.I am one of those people that gets all the problems and likely because i have played a LOT and on many servers so i have a good chance of experiencing all the issues.

    One thing the past has proven is that every time there is a major update,problems follow right behind.

  8. I gave up trying to run my own server,way too many issues with this game to bring others on board for my server then see issue after issue.

    My point is i am just going to use single player to sort of test longevity of a server but when i went to try it i get an automatic message from the mod tool helper "it is not safe to use zones".I made sure to delete all the files i could find ,check for file integrity,start a new server again,reboot pc,i did everything and i still get the same error.So that tells me any time spent will be wasted long term.

    I noticed an issue that seems to be a sure tell tale of problems and that is if you cross a zone line then look fro your boat and see it still posted as being in the last zone,there are problems with the server.

    Are other people having these same issues?Did the recent update completely kill the single player game/map because i also heard about some changes and i noticed the treasure map lights were spawning in the water.They don't even activate in the water,i tried.So it is like the maps have been altered or something?


  9. My expectations for this EA game was bug fixing and content updates,not pvp tweaking or server reboots. I wish now we were told the EXACT intent of this game because MANY of us joined for PVE and never expected PVP to influence PVE server wipes or even have PVE settings catered to pvp.

    OFFLINE<<<keyword.How are game settings going to affect players when they are offline,nobody can game or wants to play 24/7.So a group of friends in a different time zone than a larger alliance is all offline,every last player offline,how are the settings going  to help them and the game ?

    Gamer's cannot cater to game settings,they have lives to live,so the settings MUST cater to the players.If you are going to focus on pvp make sure it does not affect or alienate pve players which is likely half the community.PVP should have safe areas and be VERY restricted because of two very keywords "unbalance" and "offline".

    Now see this is why i constantly state that PVP does and never will work because if all you do is cater to pvp you take away everything a game can do to improve itself and/or to have more fun.

    Can't do this..can't do that all because pvp,why lessen agame for a mode,many people don't even like pvp at all.At one point i know the total player base on pve was 3x that of pvp ,even if it is split ,your making a worse game to worry about pvp.Developers don't put a lot of effort into their tweaks fixes as yo usaw by the sinking ship fix,you'll never be able to caterr to pvp and get the game setup properly.

To be honest,i would happy playing with just 2 zones or whatever we call them..grids and around 14 isles,i could game everyday on that amount of space.Imo it is nice to have real player neighbours in game,if i had 10 players per island over 14 maps,that is a 140 players,There is no server with that amount of players right now.Point being even 2 grids is plenty but yeah takes some editing to get it all in.


  12. Well i think some people have made maps that are 2x2 and all biomes and in reality that is all that matters.

    The way it works now you basically need a server per and even if going a bigger zone,you then need more servers pER.

    Some providers will already allow you to enlarge a zone/map so you could put more inside of it but you need to pay for more servers.If i consider running a server,i would go the 2x2 route all biomes and simply copy it from someone who has it.I actually started working on a map like that but was getting real crowded,you need to aim for the smaller islands and set their properties.

    I feel some people get too carried away with server size,i spend days/weeks on just one grid maybe two and could just rotate from one to the other and still have tons of play time.So a 2x2 if 7 isles per that is 28 isles,i am sure that about  covers all biomes but you could edit  each and do it with less isles.If evn 6 isles over 4 grids,man that is 24 isles that is a TON of room,that can EASILY support 100 players,that is like 5 players per island pfft ,tons of room.

     


  13. IMA guess still in FFXI,the best rpg ever made 😛

    In all honesty i am terrified of any more new content,way too many bugs already,i prefer a full out effort to get the game working smoothly and next phase being better developing tools for modding.

    Know why i said better tools?Well because the community imo would move faster and get things done to give us more content,all we need is the backend part to be bug free.


  14. So imo yes it should be possible but perhaps not with tools we are given right now.Like i am 99.9% itis possible to what you are asking,create a large area of connected land.

    Example,even though i have not touched the engine in many years,i could spark up the unreal engine and for 100% certain i could create a large mass of lan and still have separated zones with different zone properties within each.So i have no doubt at all,the engine would be even better by now,like MUCH better and easier to do something like this.it just has to be done in some format this program would recognize what you are doing.


  15. Well the game identifies by zones and distances.If the maps were joined i suppose you would have to simply create it as ONE zone.Sooner or later you would have to separate zones by yeah a zone lol.

    Water zones,land zones .The thing that baffle me is i know the Unreal engine can assert zones via invisible separation but not having worked within the engine for over 15 years,i can't remember what would happen right at that 1 pixel spot you have an invisible texture mesh.I don't even know how much you can manipulate the maps/zone structures.We used to get every tool we needed,even a SIMPLE zone tool to create the zone properties and all the lighting properties as well.

    Perhaps that blue curtain we see crossing zones is exactly what i am talking about,that 1 pixel thick invisible line but they simply use a visible texture and have the mesh as non solid to pass through it.

    I would assume the water physics is part of the issues and why they did the game this way because i would have assumed the invisible texture to separate zones allowing a smooth procedural transfer between zones,similar to entering a water zone or distance/temp changes.Like we don't stop and phase into water,we simply walk in and notice no lag like we do crossing maps.Perhaps the lag with ships is the sheer volume that has to be drawn,all the objects on the ship when compared to a simple player walking into the water is les to draw.

    SO for example a 1x2048 sheet with texture set as invisible  and non solid 1 pixel wide would separate areas to create a new zone.That way you could move  right across a zone and not even know it was there.So in that sense you could create a large land mass connecting to each other.So because i have been out of the loop so long or there are some restrictions i don't know about,i would think it is possible but having seen the actual grid program,i don't see a whole lot of good user friendly options  there lol.


  16. Possibly my biggest peeve as well,you have no idea how many times i cursed this,like avoiding STOD fire but chat window is open so i can't use keyboard.Now i see 4 tabs on the chat box but i have no idea how to use the chat box tabs.A simple HIDE option with NO popup would seem obvious.

All of this is easily doable as it is already built in Unreal engine/tools.I figure this is simply the original teams work from 10 years ago and just left as is.I am not sure why they didn't simply give us the unreal built in tools,it would allow architecture beyond blocks.My guess is the original work was not on the Unreal Engine and this was just ported over but then yeah could easily add it in.

    So then you could add in one giant wall  or build to suit an archway,whatever you want ,whatever size you want.The only issue though is texture sizes,you would have to stretch a texture to fit  all sizes of wall but again that is workable with the scale tool within unreal as well.Another plus would be private servers could easily port in new textures,basically you could mod edit anything without the need for their dev kit.

    Another important need is to snap walls/floor to the large gates as well and imo we should have settings like private servers have allowing us to better fill in ugly gaps/holes due to "obstruction"error.Snapping docks also a nice mod we should have.


  18. sadly it seems too many people have given up on this game.The mod section is full of more unfinished or bugged work than completed.

    To answer your question there is another mod in Steam that works,albeit i believe i had to add another mod from same author but not sure if that mattered.Anyhow the mod author explains it in his thread.

    Anyhow when you click on a mod in Steam,they pretty mush  explain the mod.You need to find the command line somewhere in your files,i can't remember exactly because i got a headache from working with the file structure.Anyway it will be something like ModID={}.So then you take the MOD ID numbers shown on the Steam mod and can add as many as you like.So your line might look like ModID="1234565.234567,679483"."3 different mods example"You need a comma between each mod and no spaces.Then on top of that there is usually a few lines of code that have to be added to maybe your game.ini section.usually around 5-10 lines of code that are kind of easy to read/decipher but most the time you don't have to edit those lines of code.

    Then you can also change settings on how much you harvest /harvest damage multiplier or how much health your harvest node has which will allow you to harvest more from that node.Usually all the easy to see files are in Game.ini or user.ini .,known as initialization files.

    Where it gets tricky is in the grid files/map files ,that has been giving me a headache because it appears to me that sometimes the actual map setting is overriding any settings you make in user and game.ini sections.Hence there are override code lines all over the place.


  19. I have been stewing over tons of script and it gives me a headache.

     ifeel the problem is the structure on how the code works and doesn't work.

     

    Quite often we hear people say THIS WORKS and others say it doesn't.Well it depends on how the file structure is setup,many are renting servers and many are creating their own from home.The point is that simply putting in some commands in the exact same place as another person is not going to always work.

     

    This is why the developer needs or should have designed a server tool structure so that everyone is on the exact same page.Everything should be done in real time and without the need to FTP stuff.The original Unreal editor was more useful 20 years ago than what we have to work with right now.I saw some download on the site and was like 130+ gb or something,i was like whoa that would eat up the res of my HD lol.

    Even still,not knowing the command parameters for each section just makes it all pointless.It is not that hard to setup a working server but to get it setup perfectly the way you want is like going to get 5 limbs cutoff lol.I understand a lot of what is going on, i can understand numbers and stuff that i can see but the tough part is knowing when and where to add lines of code and what is possible in the blank fields.

    Example...temperatures,i thought ok it's too cold or too hot,i want to calm down the settings,i somehow made them worse lol.Engrams,many people have no problems getting their own numbers,others can't get those same lines of code to work no matter God himself came down and entered them.We simply need a way better structure for game servers with highlighted tool tips.

     


  20. I personally love the game but there are reasons i can see why many don't.

    One area is this very thread,WHY is the game developer not doing more like giving us a detailed outline of server structures,what do the numbers mean etc etc.What has happened is a lot of potential has been lost because people simply can't deal with the complexity of setting up a server the way they want it to run.Heck i had an easier time of figuring out the entire Unreal Engine 20 years ago then i do now with the Atlas game structure.

     

    So here is what has happened the past 8 weeks.Play on official=horrible settings.Play on private,they close down a couple weeks after playing so all your game is gone.Make your own server=too complicated,sure anyone can make a bare bones server but that would be like playing on official servers=no good.

    Anyhow,honorable idea here this thread and game server idea but the developer should be doing a lot more for THEIR game.Running a gaming business is long term,you lose faith in customers and you may not have a long term.Really too bad,the game idea is great on paper as was Dark N light as was Ark.Is Smedley part owner or something ..lol..j/k.

    It is just frustrating for me to watch all this unfold,a great game will get swept under the rug.I hope this server idea can maybe save the population and bring back some players.


  21. I did not see Ironwood on any list?When i was looking awhile back for myself,i think Ironwood was on a polar or Tundra map.

    Seaweed is of course sea bottom,not sure if was same map as Bamboo but i think was a temperate zone map.

    As for Garnet,a few resources give 2 different gems,like Emerald was paired with something,maybe was garnet i can't remember.I don't even know the trigger,just randomly hit the same gem then all of a sudden instead of Emerald i was getting a different gem.

Doesn't work.I think it depends on maybe a setting somewhere that allows you to change settings,like an override default ini=true or something like that because we are given limited options with some server providers and how they setup the files ,who knows.What i do know ,is this code does not work,i get 3 points per level and i set it to 10.

    BTW i have tried putting these everywhere,from game.ini to default ini to userini to  json grid ini  nothing ever works,so like i said there needs to be some override command for some people files depending on the server provider.


  23. Read in another thread the creature needs to have the word WILD to be tamed and if it  does the level doesn't matter.Personally i have not tested much,i usually just figure around 60 give or take max and nothing on powerstone isles but others say a lot has changed.
