Here's a fun idea! When I enter my house how about I whistle the monkey on my shoulder to jump over and run in a hamster wheel on the wall that drives a pulley to a ceiling or wall fan, old school style. Or even one of the old burning oil fans. Fits the times period and looks cool sitting there.
