i think I might do the whole lawless thing as well when it finally comes to console. Really hoping they can surpass the usual subpar behavior and get it out on console in a reasonable amount of time.

This is the underlying issue. The question is why. So many games in existence have their own player type housing domains. There is never an issue with overlapping housing issues. What is different with those games? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm actually asking here. Also, will this change be their final say so? You are missing the point that they told us they were listening to us (about the claiming system). They told us that numerous times. Where did anyone mention their claiming idea was like the PVP server?

They are not going to listen to any of these ideas. At all. They just showed us that. In all it's glorious wall of text form. All the suggestions and ideas and complaining that the community has given or done we have handed them on a forum silver platter. They completely disregarded all of it and went a different direction.

I dont think ANYONE is happy because the Devs said they have been listening to us so we had all hoped for them to change it to atleast one of our many suggestions in numerous conversations about it. However it was a shock when they went the opposite direction when shitting in a box and handing it to us in a virtual state.

The updated new claim system for PVE  is horrid. I thought they said they were listening to us? Exactly WHO were they listening to? It wasnt the players posting their ideas on the forums. I didnt see them saying to change it to PVPesque. WHO were you listening to?

However, YES, bring on The Great Purge. Gogogo. Wipe it all. Even if my rare looking beauties have to go.

People will be wanting to explore the new islands to see where they want to settle. We all know how long sailing servers to do that takes....

Sorry to piggy back off your thread. I actually would like to know if there is a way to zoom out farther than it already does in regular game play. I play in 3rd person scrolled out but it still makes me so motion sick on occasion that I have to immediately log off and lay down for hours. Perhaps a certain command to type in game like the GAMMA command for example?

Nope, I wouldn't tell you that at all.

I'm a soloer. I have been playing by myself. It's been a long grueling road lemmie tell ya.  We need to start thinking out of the box. We need to stop being so negative at the mere mention of ANYTHING. Who says it's always ALL about gold and only about gold. It can be about whatever the community wants it to be based on. They mentioned making more quests for people for example. There could be rewards to pay a weeks tax if you do a quest or something. Or to purchase by doing a requirement task list. The possibilities are endless. You see what I'm getting at? I just brought forth the initial idea. It's very open for more ideas and tweaking to make it better.

Well they said they wanted us to test it out for them on PTR so we could give them feedback and work things out for them. I hardly think a week is long enough. Especially when people have RL to deal with. Bring it out now.

That kinda play into my idea of the Land Deeds. It would be grids. However it would be land taxed. Not everyone are pirates to cover what you were stating. Not everyone is training in the Pirate "skill" tree technically right?

How about being able to tow a BARGE type hauling ship behind ours specifically designed for our animals?

That made me laugh. I know how you feel!!! It's perfect timing for me! I COINCIDENTALLY have been upgrading. So far I have my new mobo and i7 8700k processor with new tower. Friday I order my new gpu finally and ram. I have had to play with all settings off or low with it looking like a preschool game and still freezing. UGH So many deaths.

I think a lot of players more familiar with the term early access have played mmos for 10- 20 yrs or so and just have that common knowledge of these games possibly being wiped once or multiple times. It's just part of the process of fixing, tweaking, revising, or changing whatever needed to fit a broader audience for the final product. They do want to make the general population of the game happy, but you can't please everyone.

I get it. I am a taming snob. I have high level tames with rare and beautiful colors. I doubt I will find them again. I only tame what I like. You know how long it takes to find specifics? I even have 2 accounts I play on. I have 800hrs. People it's just a game. And yes I work like everyone else. 3rd shift at a chemical plant. yaay exciting

PVE: 

Purchasable deed of land from an NPC bank for PVE servers perhaps? 

No foundation spamming. No one can put anything on your purchased land unless you have set permissions to do so. No one can build anything on unpurchased land.

You pay tax on the land weekly? Bi-Weekly? Monthly? When someone quits, or just doesn't pay, it goes into foreclosure. A timer ticks down for the old owner to pay last minute. Otherwise (if this is possible for them to determine), everything on the land from the previous tenant comes with the new deed at a higher price determined by everything that would be included with the deed. If no one bids for it either the price continues to drop or a timer runs down until everything on the property is destroyed and the land price is reset. 

The deed price can also factor in other variables. Island size, property size, island resource wealth, company size of the purchaser. A large company would pay more than a soloer. And there has to be a workaround for someone in a large company to quit real quick to buy the land then join up again to just get the cheaper price. Just added thoughts. Work in progress.

You can place your flag anywhere on your land that you have purchased. The price for deed purchase can be from gold, various tasks they set forth, or their quests they have mentioned implementing. The possibilities are endless. Perhaps the other options are open to 1 man Companies since it's harder to obtain measurable gold compared to teams of people. Just need some brainstorming for development.

Edit: Owner can temporarily change permissions to allow someone to build a taming pen on their land.
