To be honest I have always hated the idea of someone feeling entitled to an advantage. If anything is should be the new incoming players that get the boost.

either that or make the grandfathered people as you say have 1/2x so it is harder for them so the new players can have the advantage for once. That would be the best idea.

your knowledge and experience already gives you an advantage. But hey if someone isn’t good at a game then sure I guess they would need to be 50 levels ahead did someone else 😂

btw, some quick info. New players are way more important than old players. I know some people think that being “loyal” whatever that is makes them entitled to special treatment, but once they have paid their money, their usefulness is simply gone after that.

Also hello realist. Do you remember me? Have you bought the game yet? Last time we met you were telling me how important your opinion was. Come play atlas buddy. You can join the fun rather than just sitting by the poolside arguing with children. I’ll save you a spot in my company and teach you the ropes.

Above you can find some  pointers on how to level quickly using a bear (it’s a tamable  mount in atlas) to defeat treasure guardins( NPCS (( Non player characters))  that yield high amounts of Experience Points (( this is used to level up while playing)) )

hope me to see you in game soon man. Drop me a line on NAPVP.

actually no, in a business model that relies on microtransactions to maintain servers and continued profit, the invested old players are far more valuable. New players don't invest in cosmetics old established players tend to.

giving an advantage to new players is a sign of a failing game. It shows that they will do anything to boost player numbers because the old players are leaving in droves. Think the buddy bonus in wow, not strictly the same as just a bonus for new players but definitely the first sign that they were concerned that new players weren't joining to replace the ones they were losing.

Pretty sure it doesn’t hurt to wipe everything. If you personally don’t like the fact that characters are being wiped then just say that, there is no need for the melodrama.  Chill man. It’s just a game. You can get your pixels back. The above meta for levelling past 50 (not that anyone needs that to enjoy the game per se) is tried and tested and endorsed by the majority of players. Bears can tank alpha yetis aswell as gorgons.

Ive seen a number of your posts today and I don’t know if you’re trolling. The devs don’t hate anyone and there isn’t some conspiracy against anyone. It’s just early access. It can all be expected. Some of your posts have some really good ideas and points. Just chill on the negativity my dude.

    Keep up the good work.

  3. I’d like to see a “medium gate” and possibly structures that are actually big Strong walls implemented. Maybe keep the gateways and have a dedicated “wall” that slots into place of the gate itself? I do like your idea about halving the height. The large gateways still have a use in the form of ship storage and I don’t want that removed. I’d just like some real walls and a medium sized equivalent brought in. Also it’d be great if they wall variant was significantly more resistant to canons etc and much more expensive to build and upkeep. This would “force” raiders to aim for gates or otherwise spend huge amounts of resources raiding walls over gates. I’d also like something to stop people stacking and layering said walls in a ring around their base. Maybe a 5-6 tile exclusion area in front and behind for other walls/ gates.

Well there you have it. From what i read 90% are against this wipe. I am with the pve crowd bc i enjoyed the game through all its bugs and exploits the where i lost a ship bc someone decided to overweight and sink it. I was ready to quit with each stupid loss of a ship. But losing all my character progress will make me quit and never and i mean never will i buy any game affiliated or products affiliated with this company and sister companies. A wipe is a step in the wrong direction and while they may please the whiney pvp or land babies. I mean no offense bc i got the game on day 2 of the release and it took 4 days of sailing before i found the nicest island with all good neighbors. It was there i learned more about the game than i ever would have being solo. But since the update i have seen foundation spamming on multiple islands in lawless regions. I will take screenshots the next time i explore and find them. One of the spammers was preventing a really nice and large fort from being completed. So im just one player but weapon damage needs to be fixed or maybe the biggest thing i see is pvp and pve should be seperate then you can appeal to both player types. Give me new content and leave things as is pre v20 update in pve. Open player designed mods and use them as Bethesda did in Fallout 4 and Skyrim. This is the only player input the game needs. Just design player and weapon damage as you see fit. Just make it more realistic guns vs arrows.

Really good post man. You have some valid points.

But as a “whiny PvP baby” my opinion of your post is void.

Good luck and enjoy the game.  I wish you all the best.

Considering that players are limited to the defensive measure that the devs have created for us and the current AI system is extremely buggy/vulnerable to player intuition and abuse. This is hardly a childish protective measure on lawless. Ark veterans have been using these kinds of defensive game mechanics for years for a reason. It is efficient and unfortunately, necessary. I certainly rather there was better defensive measure implemented into the game and look forward to better mechanics added to Atlas in the future but for now...

That new claim system suggested is even worse than the original. I personally love the Lawless Servers the way they were before. Time will tell. Until then, don't be such a mindless NPC and get all butthurt about this though.

Offft! Give me more senpai, I can take it.

Pillaring is a basic bitch move. Stop being a basic bitch.

    Get baited.

    #orange man bad.

  6. I believe the airship will be a thing if their background pic is to be trusted. I don’t mind this being in the game. The submarine is also a good idea imo. The game breaking things for ark were the the things that made characters into literal gods (super speed running, jet packs, dinosaurs with lasers, shield etc. if the devs maintain a core ethos that the player character should be limited and weak in ability I can tolerate very expensive to create and run snippets of technology. As long as there are various counters that are available easily to all players to this technology then I’m okay with it (make it so the airship must land in the water to be anchored otherwise it will decay and use vast amounts of mythos and 2-3 different types of oil as fuel. Make an Anti air gun that NPCs can use that can be mounted on ships etc.

    just some ideas.

The foundation spamming on Lawless servers is necessary. Since the devs, in their ultimate wisdom (sarcasm), decided to half the distance radius for blocking other player structures from being build near your base, you need to spam a series of foundations. Enough foundations to actually prevent any other player from placing theirs, otherwise, they will drop a foundation near your base, place a cannon, and offline raid you.

Spamming foundations is our only real defense as AI units are never a sound solution by themselves against a real player.

The upkeep will be too expensive for this childish, beta, passive agressive behavior. Pillar spamming is somethe typical ark elitist jerk has brought over to atlas. I’m sure you and I agree as PvP players that this behaviour is pathetic, weak and childish. I won’t be building on lawless servers for this very reason. I’m glad the devs are implementing the new claim system and upkeep system. The adults can play using claims and the children can attempt to maintain decaying pillar forests on lawless.

good post man. Thanks for you input.

So here I am twitter stalking and run into this little piece of gold. Apparently, @Jatheish called an unhappy player shit via emoji. Then thought it was funny to then cyberbully said player on Twitter in 2019. Grapeshot just FYI this is unacceptable behavior, and @Jatheish should be terminated.

Jatheish if you can't put on your big boy pants and handle the blowback from your poor decisions from the player base...frankly you don't need to be a company manager.

I would encourage all players to report this to Grapeshot personally. We don't need this type of behavior from our Devs or Community team.

Does jat have a patreon? I’m gonna pay him extra for putting up with shiphead snowflakes like you. You people are the reason normal people have checked the hell outta society. Go virtue signal somewhere else.

    Youre clearly a shill.

  9. It’s not even out yet. You’re speculating hard dude. Also it’s just a game so chill. Things will change again and again.

We’ve seen enough of these threads (like 4 a day now) they always come to the conclusion that the devs haven’t really even said much about pve yet. Nothing bad is permenant.

Stop being basic. If you don’t like it then put the game down for a bit and keep breathing.

  10. Lol OP I’m guessing you are personally involved in some way (there is a proper channel for you to report abuse in that case)

    or

you don’t spend much time on the internet.

    or

you love being professionally offended by everything.

Chill out. Jat could have actually done something wrong rather than posting an inane emoji. But he didn’t.

  11. The drop in player base may have something to do with the fact that both official and unofficial server owners in general are wiping their servers. I have guys playing darkside rp who told me that may be wiping soon too.

There is like 1500+ people in that discord and it seems to be a hugely popular server from what I hear. Any game with a wipe cycle tends to have a drop in players on servers (I’ve streamed rust for 2 years so far so I’ll use that as my personal example in that regard)

i cant see the the numbers of players coming up as far as they were at launch, but I do think they will go up. In my opinion the wipe really does need to happen though. Since launch there have been a lot of really cheesy exploits and oversights by the devs which the player base took advantage of (myself included) I have benefited since taking advantage of those things at the start.

Id really like everyone to have a fair go at this game. Especially the newer players. I honestly feel sorriest for them because they essentially logged in for the first time and effectively had no chance ( no one starts out in a mega company, it took me like a month to figure out a lot of how to play, they can’t build anywhere and finally because we as the players from launch are so aggressive and toxic that we just KOS now)

i hope this was a fair post. I’m gutted about my character being wiped but I know I can just play and level/discover again( also knowing how to min/max and where does help)

  12. Thanks my dude. I’ve read a lot of your posts in the past. There are very few people in these threads that don’t just deal in absolutes and try to bring an objective view. So far a lot of your stuff is really constructive from what I’ve seen.

Keep up the good work. 👍

Special K with bananas and brightly colored clothing so that the doomsayers don't run you over as they drive about playing with their phones in traffic.

Btw if Atlas survives and gets things turned around, it will be in part because people like you actually think for themselves instead of just listening to what everyone else says.

Most people just need to chill out and realise playing this game shouldn’t feel like a job. If this game is hurting people then that is what concerns me.

    • Thanks 1

  13. If it’s dead to melodramatic doomsayers then can they please let me know (on the authority they so finely exhibit) what the hell I should play now instead? I’m a total sheep when it comes to games. I like this game but now I guess I need to be told what to play instead.

Like, I’m inclined to stay and play atlas because I like it ( even with the wipe and upcoming patches to pvp) but I keep seeing these threads essentially telling me that I shouldn’t like it cos’ muh metrics.

any advice on what I should eat for breakfast and wear to work will help too.

As just another player, you're not entitled to tell anyone to chill out.  As a non-pve player, you're even less entitled to do that.

I'm glad somebody explained the issue to you in a way that you can understand it.  Here's an even simpler explanation.

The devs put a lot of thought into pvp and none into pve.  The pve solution they came up with is a real wtf moment, because everyone on pve complained there were no claims and they didn't want to live on lawless.  Their solution is to wipe all the claims and make everything lawless.  And add upkeep.

So if pve people want to let the devs know what they think of that brilliant decision, you should consider that it's really none of your business and maybe just go

    and stay out of it.

Seriously mate??! Did the message i posted addressing my own issues trigger you to this^^ you werent even the guy i posted it to. Ur one of the pve crybabies i was humbling myself to in my post in an effort to make sure there were no hard feelings and that i am listening to your concerns. I ackknowlege them aswell. Alot of tgem are valid.

But then this is what you decide to post?

More melodramatic bullshit. And ur a hack shill. Id say fight me but ur a pve bitch.

Nb; this is not aimed at any of the reasonable guys ( pve/pvp) posting in this thread. I apologised if i offended you. This is purely for this hack shill i quoted.

I think part of the reason the PvE community is complaining is the difference in explanations of coming changes during the stream.

What they said about the changes to PvP sounded well thought out.  It was coherent and, while not a guarantee that it'll work as they think, it's definitely worth finding out .  It could be really interesting.  They've obviously had some very productive brainstorming sessions.  Awesome.

Then you get to the description of changes to PvE... There really wasn't a whole lot there, was there?  Maybe they'll get back to it later but right now it seems like there were no brainstorming sessions for this side of the game.  There was no coherent framework explained as there was for PvP changes.  Might work out just fine, but adding upkeep and calling it a day doesn't really inspire that much confidence.

I do think the PvP changes coming sound intriguing though and if their vision can become reality, it sure does have a lot of potential.

Your post is honestly the most understandable, coherent, honest and constructive post here.

You very importantly state the actual issue that no other pve player has stated and i commend you on that. Honestly.

There is not alot of information regarding pve and planned changes there yet. The devs have essentially only mentioned pvp server balances and changes. The pve servers run under a seperate set of rules and did at launch and all the way through the beta so far.

In my opinion, this is probably why i feel inclined to tell some of the more melodramatic pve players in this thread to chill out. No one truely knows what is coming to pve from this captains log. The devs eluded very vaguely in some cases. But there is nothing in concrete for anyone.

    As a pvp player.

I like these changes. I want the lowering of the pvp difficulty curve  to be something pve players may enjoy aswell. That is the main take away for me from the new updates. I want people to play on the pvp server and have fun regardless of their personal play style choice. It was never meant to be an attack until i was attacked by doomsayers saying the game will die.

Enjoy the game everyone. Please for gods sake let the devs just put something out the way they developed it for once without it being changed many many times before it lands. This has lead to so many catastrophic fuck ups in the past. I have played from launch and i dont want repeats of the SOTD night, the stone wall patch, the second claim overhaul.

So if 50 PVE players don't like the proposed updates but you do though you are PVP, does that mean you are the only one who is right?

Seriously dude stop going on about PVE. It's not what you play. Leave us PVE people to try and express our disappointment and wish for these changes to be stopped for PVE.

Thisis what the forums and feed back.

To be honest I don't care you like the changes for PVP. Great wonderful brilliant. Just shut up about PVE and the fact we don't like it. We are entitled to not like the changes. You are not important enough to tell us to chill out. We dont want to. Enough.

    C h i l l b r o.

  17. They have essentially added pve to pvp. This is good imo. The landlord system is good too. The pillar spam shouldn’t happen due to upkeep. All these things are good. No solo or small company should own a whole island. That’s ludicrous. If you want your own island I suggest populating one of the dead unofficial servers. You can have 10 islands if you like. Raid windows is a good idea. So you won’t see salty small groups bitching on forums that they were offlined.

The pve servers will end up with seperate rules and their own updates like what has happened in the past. Pvpve is a good balance to this game. Actual pve players seem to be the only ones in this entire thread complaining about the update as a whole. Chill out guys. It’s not even out yet. There are no real details on anything yet. The way the devs are leading the game is good imo and I’m sure a lot of other people agree. Ask pvp players in general. This sound a little bit like kid gloves but I’m sure most will acknowledge that it will stop small groups and solos complaining because there isn’t really a reason to anymore.

    I like the proposed changes.

  18. Awwwww. Cum on guys. Love is love. Give pvp/v/e a chance....

    we want you.

    I will protec.

    I wil atak.

You are forgetting that not everyone wants to sail for 5 minutes and get blasted out of the water.

Some of us actually like to casually sail around looking for discovery points without getting murdered.

Some of us like to breed animals without worrying about them getting murdered the second the 9 hour window opens up.

The list goes on and on and none of it fits in with PvP.

The real solution is to allow the claim system to carry over to PvE so we can claim land without paying upkeep on our buildings. It will be impossible to maintain the large (and beautiful) structures that people have been building on PvE simply because the upkeep will be to high for everyone except the biggest companies that have tons and tons of slaves farming for them.

We also need a way to get rid of trolls that come in and block resources with foundations since that is exactly what will happen when this goes live - trolls will ruin everyone elses time.
