  1. 1. The hacking/glitching is by far my biggest complaint to date. I was forced to move to a PvE server just to experience the game and still several times I have stood by and watched while someone glitches into my house, empties out a pin coded chest onto the floor, and glitches back out with whatever they found valuable enough to keep.

    2. The sailing nerf needs to be reverted! If you sail directly into the wind it should be 0% forward movement. People need to learn to sail with the wind or go on an adventure and see where the wind takes you.

    3. My third issue is with the dev team. I feel like every patch over the last week has been designed to shift the game into easy mode to please the whiny players who lack skill and streamers. This has significantly decreased the level of overall fun this game provides and they need to pull a 180 for the long term enjoyment of this game.

  2. All this means is they will implement the aging system officially and we will all keel over dead on log in. ;)

Honestly at this point, it is not a really big deal because the game is so early in its development. There will be several complete server wipes throughout the process so getting too attached to anything at this point is probably a bad idea. For me, I am just enjoying the game as it comes and will roll with whatever happens.

  3. I think that if a ship is left off the coast but inside your claim area and the crew all log off you should receive certain rights to plunder/destroy it. Obviously if there are active crew on board this should not apply and perhaps a timer, such as an hour, should be in place to prevent people losing stuff due to glitches and crashes but I have had people anchor up just outside my shipyard exit and log out and I am unable to get my ship out because they blocked the exit in my own claim.

  4. I love the fact that we receive multiple patches throughout the week. It makes me feel like the dev team is actually active and really trying to fix the issues and provide us with a solid game. If the multiple reboots are an issue for your private server, switch back to official until the game is further in development and more stable. Honestly it is amazing they released the private server code already at all as the game has only just come into early access.

  5. Also keep an eye on the map. Landing on an island in a zone with a power stone (the black circle in the center) is suicide if you are not ready for it. They are heavily guarded for a reason. Best when first starting to stick with temperate and tropics as Nightstrasza is correct about these being the easiest.

before there werre motors you sailed in the wind by keeling. either way you have always been able to sail into the wind.

True and that was also the case in game prior to the patch however turning your full sails directly against the wind would not yield forward progress and certainly not with the speed it does now after the wind patch.

Seems you are set that ships of old only had sails. Not true, they either had oars on the ship or they had small boats that could be rowed and ropes that could pull the larger ship. Read a few history books, many a stranded ship with no wind has been towed while waiting for the wind.

I posted on another previous thread that they had to break out oars or tow rope their ship to move in no wind and I think this should be the same in game. Allow use of the grappling hook to hook and pull a ship with another ship. Im not saying there should be no way to move without wind, im saying the wind should still provide 0% forward movement if your going against it.

AS well, the Ships of the Damned have a  slow, wide turn radius, so charging straight the opposite direction they are traveling, when you can, makes them drop off, pretty quickly because you are out of range by the time they get turned around.

    Exactly! 🙂

Yes, real sail boats have a motor to use when the wind is not favorable. Or small ones have oars. Or you could get a tow. We have none of that, so they had to add the 30%. Nobody goes out in a boat that only has the sails for moving it, nobody.

Except in pirate days such as this game is set they did not have motors in their ships. They were dependent on wind so this change is ridiculous. They just need to tweak the ships of the damned, not easy mode the sailing.

    * Nobody ever goes sailing in real life on a sailboat that only has sails as a means of moving the boat, nobody. They either have a motor or oars if the wind is not favorable. You would be a fool to do this, why should the game make us do it?

This is irrelevant because the game is set in a time where wind was indeed the only means of moving your ship short of breaking out the oars. Same reason they use flintlock rifles and cannons instead of machine guns and rocket launchers.

    * The ships of the damned can go against the wind, they either need to nerf them or give us that ability (so it looks like they don't want to nerf them).

I agree that ships of the damned need to be nerfed when traveling against the wind however I think it should be on that side and not on the player ship side.

    * A raft can and does get stuck against shore and can't be moved because the wind is blowing straight in. You would need to wait hours or days to free it in some locations.

This was actually not a problem before the current wind changes as before you could just angle your sail one way or the other against the wind and it would turn you in place. Now no matter what direction your sail is facing, your always getting forward movement and can no longer escape these situations.

    * This is going to give us a fighting chance against the ships of the damned if you have no guns and are trying to evade them.

This was never an issue. If you got too close to the ship of the damned you could still turn directly with the wind, open full sails and outrun them. I have done this several times after crossing a server line and having my sloop spawn directly next to one of their ships. This may take you a different direction from where you want to go but that is part of the adventures of seafaring.

What this good for is maneuvering through 50 ships on lawless regions parked in the bay

Yes but the overly low decay rates on lawless servers is really another topic. This is strictly about the wind changes. If the lawless servers had a proper decay rate (which I assume at some point they will) and the waters were not littered with ships and crap, this would no longer be an issue. 🙂

  12. Sailing does indeed need to be reverted back to 0% against the wind. Some of the best times in the game so far was exploring new areas because the wind was going the opposite direction. If you do not have proper wind, you should absolutely not be sailing in that direction, either wait for the wind to shift or go with it and see what happens. This also affected naval battles in a great way because you had to adapt your tactics to the wind conditions! It was a brilliant part of the game that has now been nerfed to easy mode and it is terrible now.

I have been very very happy with the updates and fixes overall but please revert this change back to 0%.

  13. I agree with this 10000%.

One of my absolute favorite aspects of this game was the sailing mechanics and the fact that if you had no wind or if you were trying to go against the wind you would just make 0 progress. It really encouraged people to explore and adapt with wind conditions. Some of my absolute best adventures in this game so far was because the wind was going the opposite direction I needed and so I was forced to explore the unknown while I waited for the winds to shift. This also affects naval battles on the PvP server in a very positive way, requiring actual attention to wind speed and direction during your encounter. This was brilliant!!

I understand that in the gaming world today everyone is all about instant gratification but the game is already easy enough, please do not keep the wind changes. I have been very very happy with the constant updates and improvements but this one feature change is a HUGE step back. If you sail directly against the wind, you should not move forward. Period!
