  1. To be honest I agree on the predators stuff being rediculous but not getting a foothold for at least a couple days on Lawless sounds like u have to get better a bit though. If u play PVP move to PVE at least to overcome the players just there to wreck your experience. Trees also don't need stumping no more there are little trees u can pick by hand for thatch and wood to make your pickaxe and progress from there. For me the last time I went back to freeport was cuz of the HUD not being there and switching servers was the only workaround if all else failed (until they patched it 2 hours later). But all I did there was make sure I was well fed, drank enough, got only a bed on my boat, left without food and bought the raft within the hour of doing all of the above. Getting back to my lawless island also didn't take that long cuz I knew the rout and after that I had two rafts at that island with a bed in case something happend to the first raft. But yesterday I left in a Schooner built thanks to the 2.5 resources u gained for 3 days and made it to an area outside newbie zones gonna try to find just a small patch of land to establish a base with my friends and see how we can progress from there. I agree the game is bad and alot of bugs ruin the experience but learn from those bad experiences if u continue to play, get multiple rafts and beds on location, establish a small base so u have a place to hide when predators come. Gather resources close to your base and only go out far when u aren't travelling with expensive items u can't afford to lose during a gank of wolves and lions or crocs and snakes. Don't build stuff on your boat where other players can put resources into like a smithy or loom on your rafts cuz griefers will just encumber it to sink your raft and ruin your gameplay. You can succeed but it's very harsh to start over so often, I had to do it too and I really hope this Schooner doesn't get destroyed due to a bug or not my fault but I fear it every minute I'm sailing it. Good luck!

I just read this and I take it you fight Crocodiles in the water where they get a huge speed and maneuver buff and don't drag them onto land where they are slow and cumbersome creatures.

These are not "Lame ass" or "douchebag" tactics as you claim this is smart play and fighting the mobs where you have the advantage.

each mob has it's strength's and weaknesses and to claim fighting it where is is not it's strongest is not what the dev's intended and a "lame ass" or "douchebag" tactic basically tells us that you have a set idea of how this game should be played and are unwilling to look at any possible other way to do things beyond what you have chosen to do.

I was gonna say sorta what Captain Jack Shadow said about being inland and encountering these things. If you have no base, are not close to water and have the odds against u that these just spawn in on you rather than even walking in on a pack of them u are double screwed. So any newbie who arrives as lvl 8 at a lawless area filled with predators is basically screwed when he's alone. I managed to get out of Lawless by now and moved to a real area last night, logged back in today and next to my boat 3 wolves are attacking a cow, a crow and a turtle. When the wolves entered the water I could pick them off one by one with my pike cuz i'm specced into boat building and artillery to cope with SOTD on my journeys. Those wolves were even attacking a boat next to mine of which I suppose other players were sleeping in the lower deck. Why do these predators go for players who are sleeping in the bottom of a boat where they are unable to see them, might not even smell them. This also damages boats and I wonder if it was my boat next to shore with me being offline for 14 hours if it would have just sank my boat.

Well with that attitude I can see why you are having issues...

Whatever you want to call trolling is codespeak for telling you something you dont want to hear. Good luck dying repeatedly while you learn your artilery.

You realize you can respec at every level right?

Stop being a dick and just aknowledge the damn thing is broken, if this is intentional gameplay I guess I still have to refund this after 70 hours of frustrating gameplay and technical issues.

Trolling? Sheesh ditch the sword its bunk, get a pike and a bow and arrow, maybe you are leveling up the wrong things. You act like at this point every thing you have done is absolutely perfect and there is no other way to do it.

I am just saying that is probly your issue. If your level 25 then you are doing something wrong. Change your tactic.

Where are you located on the map?

I'm using a pike no arrows or bows cuz I'm speccing in shipbuilding and artillery, I'm on a lawless temperate island living on the beach hoping to set sail one day when I'm ready to embark off newbie stuff and hoping not to die from SOTD or lvl 1 whales who trash your boat. There is nothing wrong with my tactic, until two patches ago I could kill wolves without too much problems, if I died then it was my own problem, right now it's impossible to survive two wolves at the same time, the only lame ass tactic that works is luring them into the water and kiling them there as they are dumb swimmers. But that's not how the devs intended me to play the game it is broken, i'm not supposed to use douchebag tactics to survive.

You are making it way harder than it is if thats your thinking. If I have to tell you to level up, and take stuff with you before you leave then we may have an issue here.

Its not supposed to be easy by the way. Plus killing all of that stuff levels you up faster- win win. Could it that your PC is just lagging that bad making it worse?

Dude please stop trolling and if you aren't go educate yourself on empathy. Lot's of people have these issues, you could be fine for two or three days (ingame time) straight on the same beach, but once the wolves and lions spawn they just roam across the island killing prey until they spot you and gang up on you. Then your nice place with house and resources becomes a hell with 4 wolves attacking your house or just swarm up to you, you can not defend yourself against this at lower level. And even at lvl 25 when not specializing in weaponry or armor I should be able to kill a a wolf 4-5x less levelled than my character with a pike. It was possible a couple of patches ago but now 2 wolves = sure dead.

Yes I read it thats why I commented. I have died plenty times as well, but it wasnt from being in my inventory while getting chewed on. Try a different weapon, or armor, or even maybe a better tactic or something its not that hard. Use the highg round to your advantage, or the water. Use your dodge moves or, just leave the area. There are freeports until you get better.

You must be trolling right? What am I gonna do in a freeport when my level is capped at 8 there? My experience is about Lawless region which is also still a newbie area and my house is built on shore, the worst was last night before I logged out it was swarmed by 4 wolves simultaniously so I logged off on my ship seeing HP from my house go down while there isn't anyone inside it. High ground or even trying to lure one of  them out of the pack into the water is a very risky undertaking because once there are 2 or more wolves aggroing me and I don't make it into the water I'm dead. I can't craft better weapons or armor, these wolves are level 1-7 while i'm level 25, I should not have this many issues with low level predators who are insanely OP and impossible to dodge or walk around them due to high aggro ranges.

Considering it is a survival game maybe you should be doing things like, I dont know...eating indoors? You seriously think that is a game issue there?

Have u even read this entire post? I guess u didnt or u wouldn't have made that comment. Even indoors these pesky wolves aggro you and if u don't have a stone wall they will slowly munch their way through it. And if it's more than 1 wolf and u are not well equipped you are a dead guy, leaving u to the point where u have to lure away the wolf from your body time over time to get to your inventory or try to find others to help kill off the pack.

  8. I'm not sure if it does, but do these wolves also just spawn in while u are standing on their spawnpoint? I mean too many times these have attacked me in pair whilst before i started eating or ended my harvesting there was no wolf in sight, only to come back out of my menu to already have a broken leg and see myself die cuz yea, no reaction time and nothing to do really against two wolves.

  9. On my island they swarm in packs of 4 mixed in with a lion and they just roam the beaches, I can fight one on land no problem, two is lethal. Even after they kiilled me they keep attacking my house on Lawless as well for no reason, I logged off today with 4 wolves biting my walls. I'm sleeping on my ship tonight and will check in the morning what they have done to it.

This needs urgent patching as one guy states, our island can be a paradise or a living hell, once the predators spawn u have no place to hide because of the laggy spawnscreen they are already biting you before you can start moving away if your raft+bed is near your base. Not to mention if u fight those predators close to your house or any structure or wall'ish' thing u will glitch inside of them, being unable to even swing your spear, forced to switch to axe or other item and hit them a few times to bug out of them and try to kill them again. But these fuckers can take u down in 5 hits.

Oh yeah and all of that on a laggy server which ping varies from 100-250 ... Wolves OP, tech issues OP = u need more luck than skill to survive

  10. I'm pretty sure you are on different yet similar looking island, me and my friends also had this happen. Check your map again but this time check coordinates. Both of your islands will probably be at a different angle on the map as well.

Go to the town and find the ferryman(?) this guy has south west east north next to his name, let your friend travel to you via this NPC to your location.

Well it’s still better than just being on 1. If you stay on your own or on your friends you will be safe; even if other parties decide to back out.

Yea, I buy a game that claims it's on MMO to rent a server after one week of early access and play "alone" with friends or team up with other servers ... Do you know how rediculous it even sounds, one week old, have to rent private server to being able to "play" ?

  12. Just now, Percieval said:

You need to find a community or something, there are some ‘YT/twitch’ channels out there where you can join with your own server to make 1 big one.

Well that's still wonky, nothing "huge" about it and still depending on whether everyone keeps their server on there. They very hard overpromised and overhyped this mess especially with involving so many streamers to hype it up even more.

  13. And how many of those "online players" are actually "playing" the game and not sitting in menu trying to log in to a server that isn't online or unable to stay in their region and PVE without having to do some weird stuff that results in losing your progress and having to start over again, I haven't seen anything outside of Freeport and Lawless and I have 60 hours gametime according to steam of which I maybe played 15 hours tops starting over countless times due to various technical and griefing reasons. And not a word about those servers coming back on, some are waiting nearly 20 hours now unable to play along.

  14. They logout on the corner outside of your house and apparently when u log back in u glitch into the other side of the wall of that corner, can't test it myself but read it elsewhere, als the repair hammer does damage to players on PVE. Also griefers go ruin your rafts and other stuff by encumbering themselves and the boat in case u have stuff on there where they can store resources in. The griefing is bad in this game, PVE isn't PVE at all like this. Also the codes on doors and such with only 4 digits is rediculous, i'd rather see a "Company Access" option and a pincode or password as long as I want.

  15. Oh yeah and thanks to my server not being online for god knows how much longer I'm unable to play on EU PVE without doing this weird ass trippy workaround u guys posted on twitter which will probably result in me making a new pathfinder which I will not. Refund requested in steam, I hope for you guys they refund it or I will have to keep whining about how much of a pathethic cashgrab this release of software was.

you pay, you have the right to play. If there are bugs, there is no problem. The problem comes when you pay for something that is not ready to play. I have played many early access games, and this is not normal.

Yea besides alot of people not able to even connect without real help is beyond belief even for an early acces game. Same goes for servers just going down, not working properly (pings of 200 when paying local). Check bug section u see people complaining about servers being down for up to 16 hours. I'm waiting for L9 EU PVE to come back on so I can finish up my boat hoping nobody stole my stuff when I was offline (if server was up much longer then when I went off though). They need to fix land claims as a top priority together with the issues there are with whales and ghost thips so people can start "testing" things outside newbie islands. Also still only 4 official servers online is a joke knowing how much people are still trying to play and their servers can't cope.

  17. So we can also not complain about the PVE issues? Players able to kill eachother with repair hammers, people glitching into houses to kill and steal everything someone who already left PVP cuz of the griefing while u think u logged out "safely" inside a house u built on Lawless where u gathered resources to build a bigger boat to sail out of newbie area the other day u log back in, but no, u can restart your grind of resources. Hopefully on that same island but people on PVE just stack stuff on your raft or encumber it themselves by weight so your raft and bed are gone too when u try to log back in. For me I haven't managed to get outside of Freeport & Lawless so far because of griefing and the server issues, even losing stuff when moving from freeport to lawless when lawless suddenly goes down the moment u sail over the blue border.

I know this is early access but I'm forced to restart not only to technical issues but mostly to griefing combined with technical issues. Moving from PVP to PVE was my hope for being able to play at least further than newbie zones, but even when I get out of newbie zones with a couple of friends on a bigger ship than a raft there is still alot of Ghost ships waiting to wreck my boat, not to mention the rediculous amount of damage a whale does to your ship. If u manage to survive all that u still have to find a spot u can claim and really start your Pirating adventure.

Even for today I've been waiting nearly 6 hours for EUPVE L9 server to come back online because that is where my resources are to build a big ship and try to move beyond newbie point. This with over 50 hours of "in game time" on steam for Atlas, where I'm sure 30+ hours have been me in menu screen from day one issues. Even bought this the second it came out and didn't have a 17% discount yet which was there seconds later... Can u see how people get annoyed?

For example you get a bp that required 2x 26 metal you need 2 different types of metal so 26 copper and 26 silver

Aha, this answers someone else who asked the question what the benefit is of these different types of the same thing, like copper & silver in your example. Good to keep stacks of different areas then 😉
