  1. If they could just add the base metal to make alloys I could really ramp up my ramshackle raider game on freeports. Atm you have to sail to a nearby island out of the freeport to get metal to make alloy for cannons. But yea you can wreak a lot of havoc if you can find a base with people offline. Even the megas will slowly have dropout from boredom from having nothing left to attack or do and their will be more and more gaps in people being online for them too and offline raiding will get them too. Should band together and have a ramshackle raider alliance for this.

  2. I have moved over to unofficial for the time being. My gameplay recently on official went from kind of progressing on stuff over a few days then being raided to being raided constantly since there is less and less people. I will still login to official to smite those who smited me and be a general thorn in their side but it was getting old spending every day rebuilding and retaming just to lose it when I have to get off and do the whole life thing. Was close to max level and really just had exploring every island for discovery points left to do. Patiently awaiting continued updates and content to keep bringing me back.

  3. Would love to see them add hot shot to cannons. Throw a cannonball into a forge and heat it to red hot, then throw it into a cannon and fire at a ship. Could limit these to 1 per inventory slot on a the force and limit carrying to 1 at a time but these could be used on coastal forts/batteries. I think the forge weight ought to be increased a LOT more to limit this shot as a use on ships, and also have a chance to possibly drop it when loading it from a boat causing mayhem in your own ship. If it lands it lights the deck on fire and causes burn damage in addition to the impact damage, if it hits the side but doesn't wind up on the deck it just does impact damage but no burn.

Really think they need to increase ship panel health eventually especially for the bigger ships. It should take quite a few solid shots to really damage a ship to sinking, and the sinking rate in battle should probably be increased a bit making an efficient crew important. Although I guess being able to replace panels kind of resolves this. Ultimately ship battles come down to a combination of these 1) who has more ships 2) who has more ammo 3) who has more resources to repair or 4) who actually lands more hits

  4. I have been in lawless for 3 weeks. Same structures I had at the start still exist. The 4 day timer is only to demo if the player hasn't logged in. Storms didn't exist for the first week or so I was there they had removed them since lawless are supposed to be buffer zones between Freeports and claiming land in their eyes. Although for those who despise the claiming system it's a nice place to live. As long as you login regularly and get within a pretty distant range of your buildings the timer will reset on the demo. There is no decay other than if someone decays it via a cannon or explosive.

That said you lose the ability for your claim flag to keep people building up alongside you, foundation spam was the meta, they drastically reduced the range of foundations to about 4 squares. People can still claim your ships with flags and there is still the general offline raiding esp since the stone nerf since the fire arrow nerf stopped the fire arrow boat sinking for the most part. Although then there is flame jars. Don't get me wrong I still prefer lawless it's just other game mechanics that need work.

Edit: I don't have any anchor decay rate, only periodically when the storms come up to shore, which I thought being anchored was supposed to stop but I have seen one of the ships take damage actively during a storm a few times.

  5. Yea been trying to continue to live on with the slightly nerfed stone cost but still the super ease of slicing through with cannons and the continual oflfine raiding. Slowly getting bored of logging in and spending every few days rebuilding just to have it taken in a few hours to then rebuild and repeat the cycle. May just turn into a vagabond for a while on official and work on discovery points. Login, build a ship, sail to as many islands as I can, logout wherever and hope I don't get killed, if I do, repeat. At least I will be making progress then.

  6. I can agree on the lack of gunsmoke for sure on guns mortars and cannons. Also these are flintlocks, Most flintlocks have a noticeable delay from the time the flint strikes, flashes in the pan and ignites in the barrel. Percussion caps fire more reliable and quicker but came in the 1800s. Depending on the intended direction of the game "Pirates through the ages" or whatever it could be possible to switch from a flintlock to a percussion cap. Smokeless powder came even later. Same could be said for switching from roundball ammo to a bullet and eventually adding rifling. That said sniping was still a thing back then. The length of the barrel helped this to a degree which is why modern guns with rifling can be much shorter and still achieve better accuracy also some guns were better then others when produced by a gunsmith and these were selected for that purpose. But I do agree in general on the accuracy standpoint especially for the pistols. Could possibly have normal carbines be less accurate unless you have rifleman perks and then also give blueprinted guns up to mythic increased stats in those regards for aiming etc.

Also to note the caliber of muskets etc were much bigger as well. So they ought to pack a hell of a wallop when they do hit. Breaking bones when hitting pretty easy. I also agree on cannon shot. I think they should also remove the excessively visible trail of smoke behind mortars and cannonballs that tracks all the way to the target. A big plume on firing and then the explosion as they were moving fast.

Edit: One more thought... I think if you jump off a boat with a loaded gun and get to land you should have to reload your gun. Maybe I am being to nit picky but wet powder doesn't fire. This would make doing things like actually landing ashore or using a dinghy to stay dry barely useful, still would probably be faster to reload.

The thing is that is not entirely accurate. Individual resources gather rates can be adjusted.

All i know as of right now is prior to the 2x weekend i was getting 100 wood from the trees right outside my home base walls, during the 2x around 200 and now 50. So something is not adding up here. I also use an elephant to gather wood and these numbers come from using a metal pick. But the point is farming wood one way or another was nerfed.

I got on my elephant tonight and gathered 20k wood from all the trees around my base in about 30 minutes, doesn't feel that nerfed to me

The next weight thing to look at is the weight of gold coins... each coin weighs in at 1lb or .4kg which is HEAVY AS HELL for a single coin.   That is heavier than a cell phone.

Then we have weight on stone walls.... 1 stone wall is what 16kg?   A large sail is under 200kg....

I have just come to ignore the weights on things.. I mean your simple cloth shirt, you  know the one without sleeves comes in at a light 8lbs or 3.5kg!!!!  Is this thing lead lined?

This post reminded me that eggs are also 1 weight each. I think my chicken might be an ostrich.

  9. They can add uniqueness and customization in other ways than that. Not really backwards design, just a lack of foresight that people would make designs that should hinder the ships performance due to the way it's built. The ship decks should have a build height limit of 1 floor above the deck, maybe 2 at the stern and bow as long as its not getting into the rigging of the sails I am not against a line of guns on the upper deck that is fine. Some of the multi story artillery designs on the top deck, stern, bow, starboard and larboard are a bit silly and should have never been allowed from the start. Same for cannons through doors and npcs firing from under the angled roof pieces while not being able to be directly fired at. Cool designs, yes, balanced, no. The lower decks shouldn't have any limits, if you want to build a ton of walls etc I see no problem load that ship down with walls etc. I would love to see a cargo door of some sort. Hoping in the long term it might be possible to open a large door and load big tames into the hull of a ship to a degree or at least to half of it is on the mid deck and the head is sticking out the top. And tier 2 and lower tames could be loaded  into lower decks but you could still close the cargo hold during transit.

The best way to tell is to pick up a rock off the ground.. other resource nodes can be random.. the rocks on the ground are fixed I believe.

Yep, this will pretty much tell you. 4 rocks on the 2x weekend with the 2x base so 4. If you are getting 2 rocks you are just too used to the 2x weekend. Mind you we had 2 weekends in a row of it and it was extended into wednesday of last week so it was honestly more like a week and a half total.

Edit: Why are you hand gathering.. get a bear, still like 300+ fiber a swipe. Elephant is 50-60 wood per hit. I still hand gather thatch. Rhino charge into stone 1 hits the stone for a few hundred easy. I would recommend doing tames as soon as feasible.. it's a huge time saver and food too.

  11. I like the cannon idea 100%, bigger ships could have bigger cannons, even smaller ships could but be limited by placement and total number. That would have to be balanced out somehow.

I don't know enough on sailing ship hulls to know if they really differentiated all that much by what the ship was intended for or if sloops of military and merchant design were built in a similar manner. Lots of ships lived multiple lives and even haulers and merchant ships would often be lightly defended to increases it's cargo capacity vs a warship which had far more weight in the way of cannons, munitions, etc. If at some point they go down the road of pirating through the ages or something I can eventually see ironclad etc coming to the larger ships and then eventually metal hulls, etc etc. I do hope to see some more variation and I feel that sloops should honestly outpace the bigger ships they were meant for speed. I don't think all the ships should be able to go the same speed nor should bigger ships necessarily out sail smaller ships.

  12. I agree the weight of berries is probably a bit high. 1000 fiber is one tenth of 100 berries. Yet a bit over 1000 fiber makes large sail that would weigh tons in fabric weight compared to berries. Also not saying they should increase the weight of fiber maybe increase fiber in sails? Don't hate me! But definitely some tweaking to be done in the game in regards to weight. Like they increased the cost of stone doors, stone doors can be moved pretty easy when crafted. If you go to remove and move said doors though... I hope you have a couple of tames to load all the weight into. I agree I am also not necessarily looking for them to crank the weight up on tools and everything else but the weights on some stuff doesn't compute. Another example. Water  barrel weights 50.. probably a bit heavy, 500 water, now it weighs 550 iirc. 5 waterskins full of said 500 water weigh 1.5. Not saying the skins should weigh 500 weight, but the barrel probably should hold 5,000 water. Same goes for the stone reservoirs they are bigger than the barrel yet hold less water. I think they should hold 10,000 water. Water is heavily used in making paint and some of the recipes. Ironically a water skin with a few water makes  a paint/food recipe the same as one with 100. I would love to be able to pipe water straight into my stove and have the water variable used per recipe adjusted based on the recipe. 50 for paint, 75 for ale, etc etc just throwing numbers out there. Probably some other things similar to this that can use adjusting just the ones I have off the top of my head.

  13. Not that I am aware of. I have seen some ships loaded inside rocks and stuff because person X sailed into an area and a rock didn't load. Later when they came back the rock did load for them and their ship was inside the rock. Same for a raft in the middle of the island. This was done some weeks ago though. Is the ship actually floating way up on the land way above the sea? I know during rain the waves get super high as do the troughs and the ship bounces up and down compared to when it's calm and you can batter your ship on the shoreline till it sinks. Bit curious to see a screenshot.

  14. I agree they should probably put a build restriction below the sails to keep you from building into where the sails drop into. I also wouldn't mind seeing ship weight balancing to a degree although that would probably be a lot of work to implement balancing a ships load for little reward but I wouldn't mind it either, too much weight on one side, taking a hard turn, over she goes... Most of my ships would look like a dragster taking off atm since the resource chest in the back is packed full of most of the weight since it holds tons of stuff. I am hoping they address that at some point and you actually have to build storage in the boat down the road. Limiting sloops to X amount of repair materials only, with a bit more for each ship class up to galleons etc. They probably need to make storage boxes have some more inventory first though on land. Would love to see the storage stuff turn into ship themed items when placed on boats like like crates, barrels and chests. The preservation bag already does this well in both of its environments but the storage box just doesn't look like it belongs on a ship.

  15. Is PVE all solo players? Is there no overlap in company members getting on and taking time off to keep a claim? I can see this being bad for solo players. If you are in a company of even a few people I don't see the 3 days being a big deal. I can agree maybe pushing it to 4 days to match lawless. You are going to have to login at some point during a week to feed tames unless you plan to let those die.
