    Exactly.

    But I think the only time this really changes is if they are two different sized sails.  Like a large and a small.  Then you have to factor in which sail is providing the most wind force.  


  2. Last night I participated in an expedition to strike back at an ally of one of our enemies.  We sailed for 2 hours nearly across the globe to the great southern regions of the world to strike at the iceberg that they call home.

    We dressed warm and loaded up on explosive barrels and carbines.   We made landfall easy enough, no opposition and they had no clue we were coming.  

    We snuck around their defenses, which they had next to none, not even walls.... it was laughable really.   We broke up into teams, and each picked a galleon to strike.  We climbed up the ladders which were left down and quickly dispatched the guards left on the deck.   Climbing below decks and placing several explosive charges in their bellies.   

    The whole mission ended an hour after we made landfall.   Total we sunk 4 galleons, but lost a schooner to their counter attack to push us off the island.   

    While this was an offline raid, it was a direct response to their offline raid of us.   


  3. LOL, sorry as much as I want realism in my games... wanting realism in ship design in this game where we have dragons, cyclops, yeti, and GIANT snakes just doesnt mesh.

    I mean every ship in this game would fail horribly in a real life situation.  They lack any form of ballast and have a non-existent keel.   Then the little rudder on most of them wouldnt work due to the size, and then the placement of the anchor not to mention size, would be horrible on a smaller designs.  It would be in the way of most of the working parts to the rudder controls.  And you dont want an anchor beating against the back of your ship... that would be a horrible idea.  

    The lack of a functional bowsprit and no staysails, jib sail, or really any of the actual working sails on the mast.   

     

    Then we have cannons that are operated by one person with a rate of fire that would rival that of a modern day bolt action.  And they lob rounds so slow you can actually outrun them.

    Then the largest rounds we fire are 10kg or 22lb each, and those guns are MASSIVE, unlike the real guns of that size... they were big but not that big.

    Now, i came here due to the marketing and advertising and references to the similarities of what this game is compared to EvE, and how it rivals EvE...

    After 376 hours, I can safely say, It is nothing like EvE, It never will be, this was false advertising/marketing at a seriously bad level...
    There is no economy, no market, no "Safe hubs", timers are seriously way over-timed, You don't have too much of a reason to go out and exxplore, it is forced gameplay to the point, where you literally cannot play the game how you want due to devs introducing permanent stat debuffs unless you go and do something, Age is completly screwed - In 1 month I have aged 100 years, The lack of player choice is somewhat blatantly in the face but disguised due to "The freedom to move around" - The building placements next to enemy territory, all well and good, but now I can lliterally place a cannon 8 steps away from someones building... I don't even need to think how to attack a group, I can do it solo, Just wait untill the players are asleep and then attack, 1 cannon, 50 - 100 rounds... There is no reason to group up, if you do your skill tree right you can literally have armour, cannons, etc to be able to attack ON YOUR OWN...

    There is no thought of consequences, 90% of the time if your not in a big group you will be grindingg 100% of the time... Fire arrows are ridiculously nerfed, 10 shots and a bow breaks with fire arrows... Its fire and cant even burn through wood without 400+ arrows being fired at it...

    All I see is another Ark game, falsely advertised, wrongly marketed, painted with pirates....

    I am dis-appointed that I was lured here under false pretenses - The whole "Define your own character" stuff is rubbish, I age 100 years every month.... then get perma de-buff stats unless I ggo to the FOY, which I will have to do every time, just to ensure my character is not weaker than everyone else... Just to be "Normal", How can mercenaries work, when it is too easy for everyone to get the best stuff within 1 week of game time... EvE literally takes 6 - 8months to get anywhere near competitive at PvP...

    I am not saying the game should go full swing EvE... But it certainly HAS to turn away from ARK... This whole 18 hour rubbish to capture a ship is ridiculous... Even if everyone is dead.... There is no incentive to be a mercenary, a Pirate etc - Sure its fun going round blowing up peoples stuff, but you are building a perma grind game for all the solo players/ small groups, you are catering to the carebears of PvP world who lets face it dont have what it takes to play a game with half a brain, there is no incentives for anyone to do anything other than "Build, Build Build"... Oh apart from the forced gameplay...

    There is no diplomacy here, Racism is far too rife in the community, All I see is weapons getting weaker, tames getting weaker, buildings getting weaker but harder to build.... Griefingg is a serious issue, a serious issue.... But you guys don''t care... You wont divide the map to safe portions etc... you wont merge the PvP and PvE servers and just make the map 4 times bigger... You wont spread the resources proportionately.... There are currently 4 ships, and all are about the same in ease of sinking - There isn't a reason to build a galleon when it can be sunk as quick as a brig, by a brig with 30 spare planks on etc... There is rarely any PvP on the server its more PVsleeping raids....

    I'm writing this, because after all the game time I have put in - I am extremely let down by the ggame, It is literally one big rip off of Ark, painted and sugar coated, and at this point, I think it might be wise if the devs / company stepped up and explained to the community exactly where they want this game going... With a solid floor plan of what is expected, and not in one months time for the next update, but for the next two years... where are you taking this ggame? what are you doing with the game? are you continously going to cater to the carebears of PvP....

    I would like some sort of answer, as, as stated I was lured hear under false pretenses and marketing, The game is good, but it is not at all why I came here and has left me feeling very disappointed and mugged off, kinda like asking for a mint choc chip ice cream and given a cabbage on a stick with a bit of mud....

    I have about 1.5k hours in Eve, and more than that from before I linked it to my Steam account.  I can say that racism is just as bad in Eve... it is just harder to find because they keep it very localized.  The Chinese in EVE have their own server, and the few that are on the main server rarely interact with anyone else.   Most of the racism in Eve is centered around the Russian player base.   And it is mostly not tolerated by the biggest corps in Eve, but in the early days, it was horrible.  

    The point is, what helped Eve was the fact they have a seperate server for the Chinese player base.  

     

    Here we dont have the ONE thing that makes Eve great, the economy.

Restoring their damage and half returning their spawns (if old was 100% and new is 0% dialing it to 50%) - they ARE T2 tames after all, they shouldn't be tankier then lions and tigers, who are T3.

    Two days ago I punched a level 10 wolf to death while naked... They REALLY nerfed them.

    And it could be worse.. they could have built a house around you with no doors and put you in cuffs.. I have done that.

    I think you are right and wrong.

    The speed bonuses are averaged out like that but it is based on the total number of sail units vs the max sail units.  And then averaged out... but I have yet to test it.  I do know it does not stack.

    So a ship with a 102% speed sail and a 108% speed sail wont be 110% faster.   


  8. The thing is, there are too many companies running around with 5-10 active members with 8 tames each, and 3 galleons, 5 brigs, and a slew of schooners and sloops.  Sitting on about 50 NPCs on the galleons, and 20 on the brigs, and a dozen on the schooners.  

    When in fact they dont need all of that.. because they are trying to punch above their weight class.

    I've been around far longer than Krush. I'm still patiently awaiting the day Darkfall has a resurgence in population. The combat continues to be the best of any game on the market. If only we had some content 😕 

    Talking about Darkfall.  

    Where you use macros and bot programs to get yourself as high a skill as you can, and then you bunnyhop your way through PVP.

    Dragons are bad, but not as bad as the naked on a ramshackle sloop with 8 barrel bombs, oil jars and fire arrows.  That is the current meta.  

    They sail to where they start getting shot at, jump off the boat swim underwater for the whole distance, get close to a ship... clip into the bottom deck, place a barrel bomb,  then jump out of the ship.   Then they do it again on the next ship.  

    when they are out of bombs they use oil jars and flaming arrows on everything else.   

    Then when everything is sunk.. they just punch a bear and die and go home laughing.

    You can build a 74gun SoL out of a Galleon...  It just takes a little bit of work.

    It is the 2nd fastest ship in the game.  When it is empty.  If you load it with guns, ammo and repair parts it slows WAY down.  Not as bad as say a schooner but it slows down.   I personally think what it should do is turn WAY slower.. it can keep its speed but it turns too fast.

    2. No wepons on a glider.

    3. No bed on a glider.

    4. No extra armor on a glider.

    6. Its not easy to use a glider and they glitch very easily with the current net code and you drop into water, or die with nowhere ro respawn.

    In what way is this utility tool that can be decent at scouting and little else bothering your pirate theme? 

    Even if 100 peeps glide a whole square to your island, what would they do? 20 min of flying to get killed with no supplies or respawns? No cannons for siege. It would be useless.

    Glider suits are by far the most fun toy in the game that isnt a big boat. Its a great tool for scouting and moving about the upper tiers of islands that would otherwise be extremely hard to get to. I would prefer you spend your time complaining about real issues and not things that work fine and add value to the game.

    With the server latency being as.... "good" as it is, good luck hitting a glider in your moderate seas, where you bob up and down like you are at the end of a bungee cord after a drop off a bridge.  

    That and gliders move at supersonic speeds.. WAY faster than anything else in the game, hell I think they are faster than cannonballs.   

    As a matter a fact I am pretty sure a schooner with a large speed saild and a small speed sail empty is faster than a cannonball.   

     

    The range on grape shot is crap, if you are outside of 30m good luck hitting anything.  Flames still have better range than grape, and canister shot.   

    Even NPCs on puckle guns are pretty pointless because of their low range even when set to the max range.

    It is business not ethics, sorry I understand this because of the job field I work in.  You can be ethical but sometimes you have to be a bit cutthroat to get the job done and stay in the black.   I try to be as honest as I can with my customers, but I will not tell them something I dont have to legally tell them or they do not ask.  This is not being dishonest, is it ethical.. depends... But is it business yes.
