I've heard that harvesting these thatch bushes with a bear is the best way to get thatch. A guy on my server said he was able to get around 70k thatch in 30 minutes by himself. The only location I know of that has these bushes is E11. Does anyone know of other grids that have them?

I've farmed those in J9 Freeport North island, like 1k in seconds time. There wasn't much tho. You might want to check other Low Desert biome grids.

Gold has to be rare!  No reason to lower cost for crew members and I'm in a small company.    Maybe balance it someway differently

Well if it would act as a rare currency to be used to get maybe cosmetic items and such, then a different type of currency would be nice to have for paying the crew. Also some nice not frustrating or not so time-consuming ways of getting it then. Nice idea tho

  3. Dear developers,

So these patch notes contain gold gain nerf. I think this got your attention as bigger companies were stashing loads of it! Which is because every company member around the treasure chest was getting the reward and it seemed to be too high as it would just multiply based on the amount of people around (not sure if there's a limit). For solo player it was just enough to farm a bit and to be able to save up to pay the crew while doing other stuff.

I would suggest to either lower the company members' treasure multiplier ((to give surrounding company members a percentage of the map holder's reward(and revert the general gold amount back ofc)) OR  lower crew payment amount as well as disable crew payment while offline, whilst adding more ways to get gold for groups as well as solos. As doing treasure maps is time consuming and I think it should be a part of having FUN and not turn into some kind of CHORE where it will be the only thing we can do to be able to pay our crew and have our ships functional.

Now the gold earned vs time spent earning it - will make us not being able to do anything except treasure maps if we want to sustain paying the crew. Especially for solo players as it's not getting multiplied between company members hence the solo players are the ones who need the crew the most!

Thank you devs for your hard work, been enjoying the game thus far!

  4. Totally agree with this. I think this happened because every company member around the treasure chest was getting the reward and it seemed to be too high as it would just multiply. For solo player it was just enough to farm a bit and to be able to save up to pay while doing other stuff.

Either lower the company treasure multiplier, crew payment amount or add more ways to get gold for groups as well as solos.

"- Fixed rapid unclaiming, now if your contested flag is unclaimed it will unclaim at the same rate that it took to claim!"

    Does anyone understand that sentence?

Basically if you're stealing someone's flag and you've been there for like 10 minutes, and some random guy runs in to contest you (protect it), it will need 10 minutes for it to go back up. Basically the same amount of time is needed for the flag to go back up as the time spent stealing it, if stealing gets contested.

    My PC: Radeon Rx 570 4Gb, Ryzen 3 1200 boost 3.9GHz, 8GB RAM

It fully fits reccomended reqs, so I think that it shouls run game on high preset or a bit lower, but actually I must using something between low and medium(closer to low), and it clearly not OK. This graphics is really ugly. What a hell is happenning with this game? How optimization can be SO POOR? And how were written these sys reqs and why they are not actual? MSI afterburner shows total nonsence. CPU usage is near 70-80% GPU usage is insanely jumping between 0% and 100%(this was also in Battlefield V)

Might wanna check this or google similar threads regarding jumping GPU usage, it's definitely not normal https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/3ybkna/is_it_normal_my_gpu_usage_jumps_from_0_to_100/

Also, if you're using windows 10, one of the updates last year added a separate performance options where executables have to be added manually. If you type in search "Graphics settings" and select the said thing to open, you can select "classic app" and add Atlas executables there manually and select High Performance. This is a different setting from the performance mode in power, or any other options which limits your GPU utilization.

Twice now I have tried to demolish something small like a ceiling tile on the deck of my ship and accidentally demolished the whole deck with everything on it. Today I lost 6 large cannons, helm, 6 water barrels, and my captains quarters with smithy, larder, SRB, perserving bag, etc. in it. Obviously it was my fault, but this could simply be fixed by making the timer (how long it takes the radial menu to "fill up" before you demolish it to be a noticably longer time than any normal building piece. That would be enough to let you know something wasn't right. Would be a very easy fix that could save a lot of headache and kicking oneself. Off to rebuild.

It is long enough to prevent you from accidental clicks. You're able to see in the center of the radial menu what are you about to demolish, but to execute it you need to click a mouse button on it. Just don't click it before reading that. The longer timer won't help at all if you're clicking your mouse without reading anyway. Any longer timer for demolishing would be too long IMO.

What it actually needs to have the fill up timer on is ship release, already suggested.

I think people have some reading problem, as i mentioned a few benches do fit, other don't. A loom or a forge don't fit for example the ceiling is just too low. Go try it guys before posting thank you anyway.

I guess you're talking about me.

Well I'm not sure who has reading problems as I mentioned a loom and a forge as well. They do fit on the bottom deck without destroying any of the decks. Just because you personally can't figure out how to do it doesn't mean that they don't fit.

So i'm not part of one of those zerg and didn't hop in a galleon without even learning to drive a raft; quiet the contrary i went easy mode, first in pve, going up the learning curve slowly.

So one of the aim i though was possible in this game was that i could just live in a boat, right? Have it at least as a semi constant base up until it sink like real boats.

So i made a sloop, can't even fit a few cannons, fine made a schooner, can't fit any crafting benches, made a brigantine thinking that the 3 decks would be enough space... Well no luck almost all the benches are so fucking huge they won't fit in unless you destroy a deck (then have no cannons) or put them in the upper deck where they will always be in your way, get destroyed by the first cannon balls... Just bad. I'm not sure for the Galleon but i don't even plan to have one.

So i'm not sure if it's just an oversight from the design team since most of the assets are reused from Ark, which is fine but they should be tweaked for this game;  or a design choice. But I really think they should be shrunk to fit in boats, sure not in sloops, but brigs should be able to put them all or almost. Currently the only 'good' crafting bench is the smithy.

It's an oversight indeed but from you. Please let me give you an example:

First of all the smithy can be easily fit on a sloop, as well as a large storage box, a resource box and a food larder. All at once. (as I have on my sloop now). May need to twist the brains to get a few cannons going, but it's not impossible (personally not using any).

Secondly, recently built a brig. I have a forge, loom, tannery, smithy all fit on the bottom deck without destroying any of the other decks and without blocking 12 cannons on the middle deck. The top is completely empty and yet unused, so at this point there still are many options.

I'm not trying to brag, but just because you didn't think of how to do that doesn't mean it's impossible. And that's my point. Watch a few YouTube videos, maybe they will inspire you on some design ideas.

I wouldn't rely on "1060 is great, high fps on high settings". You don't know if they play on native resolution (resolution slider isn't maxed default) or what native resolution they are using. The refresh rate of your display is also important. The 1060 is meh not more.

    Oh, good point.

My 1050ti is getting maxed out in terms of performance, but not capacity. On low settings that is. Could be that I suffer from weaker CPU and not GPU, would love to see someone else's input with same GPU.

Forgot to mention in my previous reply that I lowered my res to sustain a better fps. So I guess I'd say go for 1060 as well.

Hello all, don't wish to keep folks from sailing the high seas and plundering all that delicious booty..

Quick question, and for the love of research I cannot find a solid lead on my question.. so wondered if you good people may know this.

When you hire hands for your ship (I play solo atm), they cost gold.  Does anyone know how payment is done?  Does it take from you automatically and you just have to have gold in the 'coffers' or,  does it work like 'food' where they have to have it in their inventory?   Not delved into that just yet, wanted to be prepared 🙂

    Cheers!

    Vx

I put gold in Ship Resources Box and they take it from there. Also regarding food, they can feed themselves if you store the food in the Food Larder.

  14. Okay. Who thought that continuously spawning cyclones with at least 5 at a time was a good idea? Well, not me.

I mean, I'm not even posting this because they're a threat, oh dear no.

They just look ridiculous and funny if you use that word to describe sadness. It just breaks immersion. And they just keep respawning and following you, which itself screams "SCRIPTED". It's not that the game isn't supposed to be scripted, everything is, I just think that we shouldn't feel that it is as badly as with this.

I would suggest having 1 of those boys spawn with much wider pull and overall radius, and higher damage maybe, over the tens of them spawning doing almost no damage. Or at least they shouldn't keep spawning, and following you with spawns in your face because that is the worst. (again, not because of difficulty but how scripted that looks)

In an overloaded sloop ~95% weight, I lost about 5% character health in maybe 3-5 minutes of sailing through them. (took a while to get through because of weight which was intended as I was transporting stuff). And even then - not even a threat.

I dont unterstand all the Whining about Bugs. Im a Solo Player and 90 hours now in the Game.

    I got:

A nice Claim where my Base dont decays, with Access to the most Ressources i need every Day.

A Nice Ship, that im currently using to Explore the Seas for Ressources i need at home.

Fur/Hide Armor and every Firearm(Pistol, Blunder, Carbine) at least 1 Times.

    Lvl 36 and Counting

Sloop has Lvl 10 (Its my Second, First one Got Shredded by Ship of the Damned, but hey it looked really cool!)

And a lot of Fun, a few Bugs are in every Early Access game, like the Predators and Spamming Wood Gatesm but i think even now u can have a lot of fun with this Game.

Same, dude. Posted a reply to someone regarding claims and how to get one as a solo, yet that someone continues to blame the game. After writing another response I just deleted it saying "fk it" to myself, can't be bothered. It's as if people want to get everything without even trying or putting minimal effort into the game by playing it.

Another type of whiners are where they feel bullied when playing solo because they can't compete against a huge company. Imagine being in a huge company and getting wrecked by a solo player, seems fair lol. Pathetic.

Anyway, glad there are solo players who are also enjoying the game just like me.

So the claim is the problem ? i don't get how you can play with a big compagny, with out a chance to have a place for you. It's like be slave.  ^^

I'm playing solo and enjoying so far. But I play PVE so other companies aren't so much of a threat.

IMO the easiest way to get a claim when playing solo is to just find some good people and ask them to give away some claim they're not using. I gave away one of my claims, other company in my island had a chance to do the same. I'm not sure if you can deal with the same low level of hostility on PVP servers, assuming you play on one.

Tested this Fov Still changes going into and out of combat in first person.

Not surprised because the reply you quoted me on was meant for camera shake, not fov.  And earlier reply by me regarding a fix for FOV works just fine for me.

  18. 4 minutes ago, EpicJohnson said:

Even with fov slider maxed the fov changes when going in and out of combat.

that setting did reduce it not remove, the camera shake is something else

Just found that camera shake is disabled In advanced settings "Melee camera animation" 2nd tick from the top.

  19. 11 minutes ago, EpicJohnson said:

Fov slider only reduces it same as camera scale slider.

Maybe I wasn't sure what you mean. And what I meant is when you're playing in 1st person, by default your FOV changes when you enter combat, or click "R". If you max out the FOV slider, this isn't the case anymore. Just tested it and switching between FOVs is completely gone, and not only reduced.
