  1. If this is already in the game, be sure to let me know, but I would like a way to gift ships or maybe even structures to a company/person. Even just being able to unclaim a ship would be good, if that would allow someone else to claim that ship in, say, 10 minutes.

  2. PVP or PVE? In PVP you should be able to deal damage. In PVE you should not I guess?

I've not tried this, but in ARK at least, some tools/weapons could not destroy the higher tier structures. Did you try to damage a stone/reinofrced door with a stone axe? I'm not sure if that would work, but perhaps it won't....

  3. How does one set up a farm in ATLAS?

We came across one buildable island with fresh water so far, and it was taken by a big company.

Is there any other way to get water to a farm? Is there a skill that allows you to purify water? (can I purify seawater by cooking it for example?) Or get it straight from green ground?
It hardly ever rains, so that will not be enough to water the crops.

    - notifications when someone starts stealing ships (or land, if that is not added yet). Now we have to check all ships and boats if someone is busy stealing them.

correction: I meant "log entry when someone starts stealing ships (or land, if that is not added yet). Now we have to check all ships and boats if someone is busy stealing them."

  5. I think there are 2 things missing from the company log.

    - a message system, so I can leave messages in the log for the rest of the company
    - notifications when someone starts stealing ships (or land, if that is not added yet). Now we have to check all ships and boats if someone is busy stealing them.

Another small improvement: put the newest entries on the top, not at the bottom.

Funny, I always considered SOLO players in games like this to be nothing more than fodder.   They should play within their means instead of trying to build massive structures or ships and trying to be a one man Henry Morgan.  When in fact they are nothing more than a landsman on a ship to me.  (That is a unskilled sailor or lowest of low on the ship rank)

Not all solo players are like that. I like to play solo. I wanted to play solo and still work together with other people. I intended to set up a small base and build ships for companies or people who want/need a ship. Perhaps in return for materials, perhaps in return for nothing (what can I say, I'm addicted to building). In ARK I built things that everyone could use, all doors unlocked etc. (yes, I was in an unofficial server when I did that, so didn't get the full ARK toxicity) I don't see that happen in this game any time soon.

I would still love to build ships for people, but rather to help people, not to have them taken by megas.

Greatest fun for the devs was always single players/small groups to be steamrolled/LOLstomped by big tribes. This concept did not change, they like magic armor dragon riders sniping naked spearmen while mounted on dragons.

When this stopped on ARK primitive servers they brought the unstoppable stone eating Giganotosaurus.

When the chinese megatribes complained, that it takes to long bombing new players stone bases they trippled the grenade damage.

When they noticed that players survived after learning they doubled the mobs damage and trippled the level 250 alpha wolf spawns.

This game is toxic, too toxic.

For all its flaws I do quite like this game so far. But if this is genuinly true, if this is the aim of the game, then I'll probably stop playing. I play games for my own enjoyment, not for that of the devs or other people.

Also, apart from sadistic people, do high level players really enjoy steamrolling the low level ones?

  8. Here a suggestion for the claim system for PVE servers:

    - limit the claims to 1 per player
    - in the management of a company, admins can set whether claims become company owned or remain with the player
    - companies don't get extra claims. They have as many claims as they have members, or none if the claims stay with the members
    - if a player leaves the company and claims are company-owned, the comapny admins get 24h to pick the land they want to unclaim. If they don't pick land, the land that was last added gets removed. The player will get his one claim back.
    - any buildings on an unclaimed bit of land act like on lawless land, but the demolish timer doesn't reset.

I posted something similar in the PVP discussion/general discussion and the counter argument there is that the devs want to stimulate sea battles and a good time for big streamers. On PVE, this argument surely doesn't hold, as there should be no sea battles.

    Any thoughts?

It really seems to me like it didn't even occur to the devs that the game would attract solo/causal style players, and now they don't know what to do with them. I think they just hoped they could throw up some PvP servers with the PvP turned off and that would keep PvE players happy.

I may be totally wrong when thinking this, but I suspect that most players play solo or in small groups. I think even people joining those megas would rather play with their own group but weren't able to and thus joined a mega.

lawless zones are not meant to be built on for permanent occupation, heck, lawless zones are even meant to exist, they were put in solely to handle the inability of the designated Freehold zones to hold enough players (and you cant build there at all).

But they were added, and give players who can't claim land at least somewhere to build. If I hadn't been able to find a free spot on a lawless terrain, I would not be playing anymore. Though that is also because I was thinking stealing land took longer than it actually does.

And it doesn't take away from the fact that you will need at least a bit of a base to even build your own raft, let alone a sloop.

  11. When people are saying that large companies will split up into smaller ones and be able to gain more land, it would not solve their problem if every player has access to only one claim. If that person can decide to give their company a claim, then the company has a max nr of claims the same as the number of players they have. I wouldn't see how this would still allow megas to grow by splitting up.

Also, I suspect that many bits of land are now claimed by people who are potentially no longer playing. I would like to see some system by which we could tell that. I'm not interested in stealing land from someone who is actively using it, but I have been searching for something that is unused.

And yes, stealing an entire base by just planting a flag makes no sense. That is broken. (not that it ever happened to me, but I can quite clearly see that this doesn't make sense)

  12. With the new update, damage from grenades to stone has trippled. It's like the devs don't want basebuilding. Stone is the strongest material you can build with, you have to get a bunch of pretty useless perks to unlock it and still it is not terribly strong. How are we supposed to build a relatively safe base? Especially on the lawless grounds, as we are unable to claim and keep land with the few large companies around who don't seem to care about taxing or diplomacy.

I don't mind people breaking the door and storage and raid the base. I'm fine with that. I can see that is part of the game. But I would like to have at least a little bit of security in my own 'home'.

I agree it sucks that the land has been claimed but I believe that is what the devs want. They want several big companies to control a lot of land so you have to pay taxes to the land owner if you want to use/farm it if they will allow it and not just kill you. It's supposed to create an online trade but time will tell if it actually works or not.

That *might* work, if not all land was claimed but abandoned. There's often no-one there. Everyone seems to be on the lawless areas (at least that is my experience from today.)

I tried taking land from no-one, but the timer said it would take 10 hours. Untill then, I guess I can do pretty much nothing?

They could have claims be easier to contest the more you have, representing your influence and infrastructure being spread thing.  So someone who has hundreds of claims, only gets like 60 seconds to stop the contesting of one, working back to the current standard for something like 10 or less.

A maintenance cost which increases exponentionally could certainly "fix" it - The more claims you have, the more it'll cost to maintain - Wouldn't put a max limit on it, and would still allow for war and conqouring of territories, and then keep people from just spamming claims en-masse as they most likely wouldn't be able to afford that.

I think a combination of these two would be great! It would make sense that a large area is both more costly to maintain and more difficult to protect.
Perhaps an addition could also be that claims will deteriorate if you don't visit that land. You're not using islands in the east if you spend your time in the west for example.

  15. Hello!

I've started playing ATLAS on the EU PVP server today and I like building things the most.

Now, I've not yet decided wether I want to join a company or want to solo play and something that will help me decide is knowing the following:
Is it possible to 'gift' ships, buildings and other structures to other players/companies?

Can I set the ownership of any of my ships to someone elses?
I doubt this ^ will be possible, so if not:
Can I join a company, build a ship and leave the company?
And if so, if I had a dock before joining the company, built the ship on that dock, then leave the company, would I still own the dock or would that be owned by the company now?

I guess I could also let others 'pirate' the ships I build.

    Any suggestions?
