You say that but then someone decide to build a shipyard.  In your harbor and you will change your mind

This is 100% correct. Thank god I claimed the land in the middle of my harbor because some scrubs moved in and started building which wiped out the resources. They have been trying to build a large boatyard which would have blocked us in. Sea claims are there for a reason. Also, if you have a bank and someone gets chests you get a cut of the loot.

I do have land, and am constantly looking for more for others who don't have any. While sailing around and island hopping all the time. I have seen Polar openings, and 11-day timers, but other than that, as soon as a claim comes up for grabs, there is someone on that island that lives there and has been waiting for it to expire.

It is possible you found a claim, but i would chalk that up to good luck.. not "There are free claims everywhere". If you know of a free claim, feel free to message me with the coords, I have players camped on my claim waiting for land, and they would very much appreciate it.

I have found more than 1, infact I have found MANY in my travels in several areas including desert and temperate.  I have not one, but THREE new neighbors within the last 3 weeks. One of the island inhabitants walked away from the game and 3 separate companies moved in (one which we allied with). As I said, there is claimable land out there, get on a boat and find it like everyone else. If I were to find claimable land, I wont claim it (I believe I have land and leave some for the other explorers who are to find it), but I am also not advertising it. Part of the game is the exploration of land. FYI, my new neighbors came all the way from O to H to claim their new land.

I don't think anyone is getting "forced off" of land. but you just stated the problem there. If you don't have land, there is no way to get land. As you put it, there is NO WAY they can take your land. So we end up with crowded Lawless hobo players, and a system where new players get frustrated their first day playing.

This is the biggest bunch of horseSht that keeps getting regurgitated.

There IS plenty of land available for those who are NOT lazy and expecting it to be handed to them. I consistantly find land that is either unclaimed or expired that can be claimed. I JUST found some 2 days ago when I went sailing. The game is no longer hyped and many players have left, leaving their claims (Apex Legends took a bunch).

For those who keep complaining about not having a claim yet are unwilling to start sailing and island hopping, not having land is entirely on you. This is not little league. You will not get a participation trophy. Get off the lawless isles and start sailing. Anything less is nothing but another excuse.

As far as griefing..Its PVE, they cant break your stuff. Build sufficient quarters for yourself and your animals, build a protected shipyard and there is nothing anyone can do to grief you.

Due to the scrabble to gain Leaderboard recognition, we have megacompanies forcing far smaller companies off their land and out of the game.  If the devs don't find a way to curb this, the game will end up being 7 - 10 megacompanies vying for top spot with fewer and fewer scraps of land for the majority of smaller and more independent players.  Most people don't want to play as a megacompany drone. As the devs have discovered, making room for 40,000 players who can't get a sliver of land to stay in the game is a BIG problem.  Eventually it may become a game-breaker.

What if we limited the number of land claims, and then directed the leaderboard companies who reach the claim limit to prey upon other leaderboard companies instead of on the little guys?  Make it the Battle of Giants.  The devs are fond of mini-games, so this might just fit in with their development philosophy.

    Other suggestions?

So explain how you are getting forced off your land? Land claims are 21 days of inactivity. Period. If you login, there is NO WAY for anyone to take your land. Whether you are a solo player or a company, nothing can surpass that timer. If you have claimed land, you have nothing to worry about. The only thing they can do is grief you, which if you close your harbor in and build a decent base is a non factor.

  5. We actually spent quite a bit of time closing off our cove with gates and walls (yes, in the water) just so no one cal lure a SOTD into our base and grief us. This has been going on since the game released. Spend a week (actually took two of us a total of 40 hours each) to close it off, itll save you some tears. Even if you dont have a cove, you can build walls around your harbor.

  6. =MGC= clan has claimed land and active members. Due to the issues with the game release, many members stopped playing leaving us with wanting more active players. We are looking for only a few people to play with us regularly (usually every evening between 6 and 11 est).  We are looking for people to join our company and become and equal part. Build what you want, sail where you want (or with us), do what you want. We just need more people to complete quests, treasures, sail with and build up our land. We have a GREAT piece of land with great neighbors who we are all working together to better our whole island. Truly the friendliest grid in the game!

We do use Discord as a communications and that is a must. Players need to be over 21, mature enough to handle typical adult humor and language.

=MGC= Clan was established in 2007. MGC stands for Multi Gamers Community, meaning we play many different types of games. There are over 30 members playing games from BF V, COD, PubG, Conan, Ark, just to name a few. Most of the members are between 35-50, but have some as young as 21 and as old as 76. Good fun with good friends, we are based soley on personality than how good you are at a game.

We have no requirements, play when you want, just be cool, be a friend and have a good time!

If this sounds like a good thing for you, PM me and we will work out the details.

Tax system doesn't really belong in PVE, since you get nothing from paying taxes.

Why pay 30% of everything you harvest/dig up for nothing? it doesn't make any sense, at the very least it should be lowered to maximum 10-15% in PVE.

YOU dont get crap, but the land owner (aka the guy who went through the trouble of finding, claiming and protecting the land) does. He gets a percentage of what is harvested off HIS land. When a big ship comes and wipes out all the metal out of the nodes on your land and you cant finish a project because of it, youll appreciate the taxes. Once you get your own land, youll understand.

The tax system works just fine if you know how to use it. As far as players being on or not on? Well, the day is 24 hours and not everyone plays at the same time so you may not see them, but they may be playing while you sleep or while you work.

  8. If they server wipe, many will leave. Hundreds of hours invested so far and if I had to start over, I wouldn't. I'd go to one of the many survival games coming out (the Amazon one looks sick). Want a new server to play on? Host your own.

  9. The foy is the dumbest thing I have ever seen in s game. I have no desire to go for the foy either. They should do away with the debuff for those of us who don't want to do it. I can see giving a buff if its completed, however all players shouldn't be punished. It's harder for solo and small companies too. I just dont see the point. I'd rather deal with the debuff.

  10. Another whiner about not finding a claim. Sailed for two hours, no land, comes and posts crying how they didn't find any. lol. Ridiculous. Get off your lazy butts and start sailing. There is land all over. Just yesterday, a new group claimed land across from us. How? The company who owns the land was not upkeeping their back yard and boom, new tenants. They came from ACROSS THE MAP!!! Stop crying and asking for a handout. Go find your own land and stop waiting for someone to give it to you.

Yes the latest change means you need a lot of metal and paste to complete...i think someone said a 2x2 is 600metal and 300 paste now.  I am fine with increasing the cost but not by this much...plus...if we are doing this then fix the foundation clipping damage...if i have a wooden foundation surrounded by stone then the wood should not take damage from a lion, wolf or elephant!

    what is a 2x2?

Changing ships name is bad luck.

ROTFLMAO, yup, superstitious here too bud, I get it! I would never rename a ship either haha.

I'm actually glad they DON'T have a name-change option yet. I like to know when I've seen the same ship griefing people at my island!

    I agree! Keeps em honest!

I can define your weird mindset on this by the fact that anything you don't seem to like is defined by "millennial", and the fact that you think people "earn" land in this game.  Personal responsibility, amirite?  Lazy kids on welfare.  Not happy to live on a raft and visit every island in the game checking each claim.    You had to travel 50 miles in the snow..uphill...both ways to find a piece of land and when you did it was covered in polar bears and crocodiles.

You have no idea how many hours per day or how many days.  (Or the fact that it's x2 because 2 of us are looking in different places)    And apparently anyone you don't like is a  millennial.    Here's another clue.  Get a calendar.  The game's only been out for a month, and I spent the first almost 2 weeks of that in Freeport trying to stay logged in, crashing, rubberbanding, being griefed  and verbally assaulted by 42 idiots all named some variation of p33nius, or ni*%*r.  I was a bit too busy to join the yacht club.  So that leaves @ 2 weeks.  Betcha didn't know that can also be expressed as 14 days.

So your opinion is that no player can criticize the lack of land or the claim system unless they've first traveled to every island and checked every claim.  Please do us all a favor and stay out of game development as a career.  In fact, even commenting on game design is probably something you might want to avoid.   (And that job at the carnival guessing people's ages?  Not a good choice for you.)

Edit, I am removing what I wrote since it is a pointless pissing match. Keep thinking there is no land, there will just be more for everyone else.

You must have missed the part where I said I'd been sailing around for days looking for claims.

Days? LOL that is the DEFINITION of lazy. Days are NOTHING. Get on your boat, get some sea legs and sail for WEEKS searching islands and you will find land. Can you visit EVERY island in days? No way. So, until you visit all the islands, yes, you are being lazy. Stop with the millennial mindset of "someone give it to me because I demand it" and go earn it like the countless of other players in the game. You want to come here and cry about not finding land in days, thats fine, but you will never find land. So instead of earning your land, just keep coming her and crying. Im sure it will do a bunch of good.

So many people are put off from buying your game because it MP only, with all of the Griefing, Toxic players and all your stuff being destroyed when your offline, its a major putt off. A single player option would allow players to build bases, ships and have NPCs as your crew, then sail out to explore and fight AI without all of the MP hassel. A game like this , i would pay £60 all day long as would many others ! Devs please give me feedback on this subject because there are many people that would love this option in game. Thankyou.

This being a skin of Ark, its not gonna happen. FYI, as suggested you can host your own server and play there (same as offline). I did this for quite some time on Ark, infact I had friends play on my server.

I'm one of the people that didn't get land in the first couple days.  After that I continued to put it off because claims were so buggy, and I didn't want to steal somebody's claim on a bug.  Now as I'm traveling around, I check claims and if I find one that's available to challenge, I'm going to challenge it.  Nothing sneaky about it.  I know all the early birds weren't going around asking permission of the whole zone to make a claim, why should I?  I have actually tried checking in general chat to see if anything's available, and have never gotten any answer but no (over 12 servers or so).  Some of these claim flags even have a message telling people looking for land to stay away.  I know people are leaving the game or have been AWOL for a long time, and those claims are out there, but there's very little reason for anyone to say "Yes, there's land available".  If they live there, they're likely watching the claim timer for themselves or for a friend.   And I refuse to rent.  That's nuts.

Unrelated to that - does anyone else just find the idea of "sleepers" to be weird?  Why have them at all?  Why don't people just vanish when they log out?  Is there some real reason for them to be there?

We didnt get land at the beginning either. We mistakenly spawned at M5 server that crashed day 1 and was down for the whole first week. The land grab was well over when we started looking. Since then, we found 4 different places all over the map to claim. It was only 2 weeks ago that we found our permanent spot, so yes, there is still land out there for sure. The defeatist attitude coupled with the "someone give it to me" though process is not doing you any favors. Be like the vast majority and quit whining, grow some sea legs and start searching. Island by island and you will eventually find land. FYI, during a resources run, we found land in the southern H and G regions just last weekend.

Sleepers are there to force players to go back to a base point (thats safe) to sleep. To avoid dying and taking a chance on losing your claim. I for one sleep in a concrete room within another room, within another room, within yet another room (4 layers) because of the snake glitching. All of these servival games include sleeping (ark, conan, etc.) and it would be wierd without it.

    Just my 2 cents.
