WHY grapeshot WHY did u remove the old claim system and WHY u made the protection area so small???

They changed the claim system for whiners who were too lazy to sail for a claim when the game came out. After waiting a month and not sailing more than 2 tiles in each direction, they spam complained the forums and discord so bad they took away the old system completely and came up with utter crap system rather than just limiting each company to 5 flags.

So, those of us who built a ship asap, got out and sailed and searched isle after isle and found a claim, built it up and made great strides lost everything. Pretty much sums it up.

Good news for you, no need to go full emo.

    No wipe is planned!

Full emo? Lol, no Ive been gaming too long to give a crap about 1 game. Just in case the Dev actually reads the post, letting them know another wipe will cost them even more players (as if there are many left anyways).

You may want to actually read when was posted though because they did NOT eliminate the possibility of a wipe, just stated it is not "planned". Judging by the devs actions so far with the game, something somewhere will go wrong and the deadline will be pushed at least 3 times lol

  3. Congrats on wrecking what could have been a good game. The people applauding you are the very very few that actually got a claim this time. the new claim system is garbage. You should have limited claims to 5 flags and called it a day. The blown deadlines and long wait for the wipe really killed the player base. Holding off NA PVE made it worse. Thanks for being so inept you missed every single deadline you shot for. The reviews of your game are indicative of your work ethic. Good job for blowing a perfectly good game!

the tax doesnt come out of your farming as per the patch notes on pve , try reading and keeping up with the changes

Well, I used to but since they completely F'ed the game, I don't bother anymore. This must be a recent change since we did test and it was costing 20%. Thanks for being a douchebag though, every forum needs one and you fit it pretty well.

  5. Dunno, but 3 of us did the same thing in lawless and claimed at 20% tax and there was a 20% loss. We even verified exactly 20% loss with a calculator. This is on PVE EU (since NA wasnt out we started on EU). We also had a base on an unclaimed Isle and once it got claimed at 20% tax, we had a loss (which is why we decided to test it in the first place). This is what made us leave the island and go to a lawless. Its fine, W/E we decided paying gold every day for a claim wasnt worth it anyways, but the whole design of the claim system is complete crap and not very well thought out.

Claimed islands with landlords, make great outposts... temp stop offs for you travels.   Terrible for landlords as it generates no regular income / revenue.

Our main base / farm zone remains on lawless, we have a secure, safe, large and spam free area with fabulous neighbors.  Couldn't ask for more tbh.  Lucky.

Exactly what we are doing! Being a small company it really is the only way to roll.

Yup, people gotta pay attention to patch notes. Too many people complaining about paying taxes when they aren't even paying taxes anymore.

This is incorrect or the devs screwed up. We tested it and indeed on a claim with a 20% tax, there is a 20% difference when gathering resources.

  7. 4 hours ago, [GP] Guybrush Threepwood said:

You don't actually tax people's resources, only gold. The tax is additive, so everyone that farms on your island gets 100% of the resources, and you get basically commission.

Having more people on the land doesn't reduce the cost exactly, it will always cost 76 gold for you, but the 12 hours between payments gets bigger the more people you have on your land.

No, the resource gathering is taxed. So if I were to chop 100 wood, I get 80, land owner gets 20. We checked and there is indeed a difference between lawless and taxed areas.

Why go to lawless, way more space on claimed land.

Try communicating with people in the game it is multiplayer, find that governor that want's people to increase his tax timer.

They will build ramps and routes up to those hard to reach resources, won't cost you anything and they'll get some taxes to compensate.

Who'd of thought an MMO where communication and cooperation is a requirement for getting better faster.

(Do you recall the plans they had for lawless? that didn't make it into the game yet. It might still be coming).

Because every single claimed land I've seen in PVE EU is 20% tax. Completely ridiculous to live and pay 20% tax. I live in NY and pay 20% tax as it is haha..Thats why NY is the largest exiting population state. Lawless=no tax. If the tax was 5%, maybe 10%..sure. But 20? No effing way. If a isle has good resources, we throw up a quick building with a bed and go on our way. The new claim system is complete garbage. When we stop at an isle with high tax, we farm the special resources and get the essentials at lawless isles instead.

  9. We started a base on H5 Euro PVE. We didnt have the membership to claim the isle nor the 244 gold a day to keep it so we planned on just staying. A company came in, claimed it and raised the taxes to 20%. I live in NY and pay that kinda tax already so I know enough to leave before it gets bad. So we are now in lawless. So the exact island we had a small part of pre-wipe that we had a 10% tax rate on that we had our own claim was taken away due to the new crappy claim system is now owned by someone else that is Cuomo'ing us into leaving. The devs ruined their own game. Now we are in lawless, there is no point really in playing and we are most likely fading out of this game. Congrats Grapeshot, your poor planning, poor communication and piss poor game redesign has killed your game before you even got out of EA.

I think they needed 2 kinds of pve servers a lot more than they needed 2 kinds of pvp servers.  That system isn't very good for small companies and solos, and there are a lot of us that still just want claims without having to own and police a whole island and pay a big gold cost.  We just want a non-griefed place to get set up so we can go be pirates or whatever else we want to do.

The new claim system makes it literally impossible for small companies to get and keep land. The new system is a complete fail. I went from owning a claim to now living in lawless on a EU server lol. Game is now wearing thin. Time to look for a new game. The Devs ruined their own game before it was ever released.

  11. Bottom line the new claim system is pure $HYT. There is absolutely no way for smaller companies (5 or less) to own land. Even if we were lucky enough to get an isle, 244 gold per day for us would mean doing nothing but looking for gold so having an isle at that point is useless. The game is ruined and doomed to fail.

I'm a solo company and currently living on an unclaimed settlement waiting for someone to claim it. So it's not a case of being in a big company or living in lawless.

Until it gets claimed and the taxes go up. Then its off to find another isle, all your hard work gone again.

Do you guy's have no imagination?

If you're not planing on grabbing an island. go to lawless build a fast scouting schooner, tame a bear. get yourself up to speed. By this time lots of islands will be taken, tax rates set, and you can go find your place to build.

we're in this game for the long haul, have some patience.

Your'e kdding right? The islands will all be taken up the first day. Those of us who work have absolutely no chance of getting an island since we dont eat, sleep and crap pc gaming (also dont live in moms basement). This claiming system is far worse that what we had.

Unfortunately, a server cluster for Atlas is so expensive that I am not willing to pay 400 € a year for a tiny world alone. If that were not the case, I would have long ago retreated to an unofficial server, as in Ark. There you are your own master, can change inappropriate settings and can also use mods.

Yeah, I hosted an Unofficial Ark Server from my house. I may try to host Atlas, but gotta see how it will work. Ark was only one server for the whole map. Atlas is hundreds.

  15. Just an FYI, when I boot up the game, if I have my Oculus Rift plugged in, I get a black screen for my monitor. Even if you are not using your Rift, it will default as the display in game. I had to unplug my headset to play the PTR.

  16. So what I've noticed in the ptr is now the claim is the whole island rather than some flags. So there will be less claims (more people without their own claims) and the same taxes. All this new system did was screw landowners who had land and made us all slaves to the very few that will get claims. System is by far worse than what we had. Land claims should have been 3 flags per player, maybe 5. This system is crap. Guess it really doesnt matter since there is no na pve server now. Man the dev's completely blew this game.

My wife plays Atlas with me but doesn’t read the forums or follow any of the “information” that is given to us by the Devs. So I read what I can and tell her what the plan is or what updates have be implemented. After this last announcement, she asked me if the game is being run by children. She is totally serious and I told her, yes. We bought a game that is fun to play but has the organization of a bunch of kids trying to get a game of kickball together at recess. It’s their ball, they are the captain’s and your getting picked last because you can’t catch

Yeah, disorganized children lol. In all my years of gaming I have never seen an EA, Alpha or Beta this F'ed up with so little Dev interaction with their own website. Its pretty much anyones guess as to WTF is going on at any given point. Other players have provided more information than the Devs have. Poor planning and management has killed this game before it ever started. What a mess.

The PTR is meant to last a week, or at least the PvP one was, the PvE one was meant to come up yesterday. Then the 1.5 mega update and wipe is meant to happen 11th April, but considering we are on 9th April now (well most countries are) and the PvE PTR hasn't even gone up, and I've read a lot of issues coming from PvP PTR i'm pretty confident to say that I believe 1.5 mega update and wipe will not be this week, more likely next week.

Thanks for the clarification. Man I realize this is an EA game, but in all the games I've tested, this developer is the worst at keeping deadlines and the worst in communication. I have yet to see part of the dev team interact with the forums. Their poor work ethic has done irreparable damage to the player base of this game.

Basically it's to test if the new systems, islands etc are compatible with pve way of playing.  See if there's any new exploits or bugs noone else has noticed.

Also, it'll give all the pve'ers who are forced to play on the ptr pvp server somewhere safe and huggy to live.  😄

Then in about a weeks time, if all is good.. or at least good enough.. it all get's wiped again and 1.5 goes live.  Pvp  Colonies and Empires.  And Pve..whatever.

Thanks for the breakdown bud! Yeah, wow pretty damn confusing lol.

They have made it very clear that we are moving in to PTR and then wipe will occur with the mega update. Many people have chosen not to take part in the PTR. The outrage would be huge if they then revealed the PvE PTR is going to be the live version, even if they made a last minute announcement there will still be people that don't find out about that change, because lets be fair the Devs comms aren't great nor consistent.

The whole thing should start fresh, i.e. complete blanket wipe once the PTR is finished. It's got nothing to do with whether it's on the same hardware that the live version will run on, it's about making it fair for everyone.

OK, so the PTR is a test server that will be wiped again? When that is wiped the mega update will go live correct? If so, any idea when that will go live? Asking because Im confused as to whats going on.  I see no reason to play the PTR if its going to get wiped soon.

I think the two of us are the only ones left that care about PVE.... Ill take the NA-PVE server and you can have the EU-PVP server....

Yeah, kinda seems that way. I still am unsure if I have the right version for the wipe lol. I first thought it was 25, then I read PTR 1.5, but my updated version is 318. I guess I forgot my decoder ring or something, because its all fubar. I see no where announced there is a delay either. The Developers are absent in their forums which makes matters worse.
