  1. Well our community MGC are primarily FPS based. So most of my clanmates are playing BF V or COD (PubG too) atm. We started with 12 in this game, but with the first 2 months of issues and then the wipe some went back to the other games. Now being summer, there aren't too many left getting on regularly. I too have a pretty busy summer and cant get on every day or so, hence the post. At least in Ark, the food would hold for 5 or so days. A simple tweak to the code and it would improve the experience for smaller companies. There are many more smaller companies playing than megas from what I see, but thats just my observation.

Dunno wether to laugh.. report your posts as personal insults or simply block you both.

But fyi.. I'm 50.. live in my own house with my wife to whom I've been married for 22 yrs, where I have 2 cars I own parked outside in my driveway.. my mother, lives 25 miles away in her own home.  And neither of us, have a basement.

As for me bashing the game.. I only complain about what I love.  I ignore everything else.

Dude, no offense but all you do in pretty much every post is complain. Sorry, but dude its all the time. You even reply negatively. We all have our complaints, and airing them is good., But constant complaining over every detail is just getting ridiculous. Quite frankly, I am surprised you are around my age, basically on par life wise too. Posts like yours are normally traits of the 19 yr old with the Bernie sticker wearing the same underwear for 3 days. My apologies if I did misread the age, but regardless the message is still the same. Relax on hating everything. Every once in  a while throw in a post that is positive or helpful.

Realist, again BUY THE GAME forum troll.

  3. For Gods sake another Martyn Atlas bashing post? Say it isn't so haha.. Martyn once again you post up some crap. Dude quit playing the damn game already. All you do is bitch about every inch of the game.

For your GF Realist, BUY THE DAMN GAME BEFORE POSTING!!! You dont even play the game bro. STFU already bro, you are a forum Troll. Once you own the game, then speak. Until you do, please, for everyones sake. STFU and disappear. You have almost 2,000 posts AND YOU DONT EVEN OWN THE GAME. Go away kid.

Both of you douchebags need to get a life. Leave your moms basement and get a clue. I cant possibly be the only one tired of both of your annoying posts.

  4. Hello, it seems as if the decay rate for food and berries in both troughs and larders is not very good. As it is now, if a player doesnt log in every 3 days, his tames and NPC's are out of food. Having it so I dont have to feed everyone all the time would make it easier for smaller companies and solo players. Either than or devise a new end game feeder that keeps the food for 7 days real time would be great. Allow some of us smaller companies a chance to go on vacation without worrying about losing our tames/NPC's.

    Thank you!

  5. Sailing points are almost nil. I realize discovery points and boosted xp discovering new gives you more, but the hours upon hours of sailing produces pretty much nothing. Sailing for hours each day, after a week I see no difference in points. What would it take to get that boosted for those of us who sail all over? It makes it counter productive to sail around if you cannot rank up from sailing. Dodging SOTD fleet with a fully loaded Galleon is NOT easy especially when they spawn out of nowhere lol. How about a little love for the sailors in the game?

Maybe he's in a relationship with realist 😂😂

HAHAHA Well played SIR!!!! Lol, Realist is nothing but a troll. Dude never even played the game yet is more active in the forums than 95% of players! Both need to get out of their moms basement more lol

  7. Seems to me the OP has issues with the game. Every post by him is negative towards the game. Martyn, if you have so many issues with the game you feel the need to continuously post how bad it is, maybe find a different game? Either you just like to hear yourself complain or you want others to wallow in your misery. Are you a lonely housewife or something? lol.

  8. I've been sailing all over since release and find no issues with wind. Sure low wind is a pain, but even on my explorer brig with 2 speed and 1 handling gets above 8 knots in no wind. As Kumma said, its weight vs angle of wind. keep the sails green and you'll have plenty of speed. Last nite I outran a fleet of SOTD in no wind.

  9. Barrels wont fill in Desert (it doesnt rain), but they will hold water and retain water if you keep the lid closed. Leave the lid open and the water will dry up.

back to the OP, maybe it was just a glitch? I have had no issues drinking out of barrels.

It is just using the other drive because the one does not have enough space. It is what it is, hd are cheap, and it has never changed through ARK, although I think its a Steam thing as well.

No, it wasn't running out of space where atlas was (my H drive), that drive had 140 GB free. For some reason, it was downloading the patch to the E hard drive where Ark was installed. It was creating a folder called Downloading and putting it in there. Now, I am an IT professional by trade and know my way around a PC and in my 22 years of experience I have never seen anything like this.

Now there is an update to this dilemma. I completely UNINSTALLED the game and reinstalled it. This completely fixed the issue. About the only thing I can think of is that Atlas was at one point an Ark mod or had some files in common which the install batch file was pointing to. Doesn't make sense considering the install directory was the H drive, but lets face it, there is nothing normal about how this game has been done lol.

It is just using the other drive because the one does not have enough space. It is what it is, hd are cheap, and it has never changed through ARK, although I think its a Steam thing as well.

Yeah I know HDD are cheap, I have 6 of them lol. Point is something is wrong if a game thats only 40 GB takes over 120 GB of space for a download. No one should have to have over 200 GB free on a HDD for a game that only takes up 40. Thats just poor programming.

  11. OK, so I cant grasp WTF is going on. I have my Atlas on one hard drive, but the patch is downloading to another (where my Ark is). So my Atlas is on my H drive and I can see the game there ( although the whole folder is only 1.95 GB). I am trying to download and it is saying my E drive is full. I looked on my E drive and it was where Ark is installed, so I uninstalled ark. Still having the issue. I delete the downloading folder (still for some wierd reason in my E drive) and start the process over. Now downloading again and its taking up over a hundred GB of space!!!! not only is that way to big, but its on the wrong drive! Man, for every one thing they fix, they screw 4 more up. Anyone have any ideas? I cant play until I get it fixed and fear my animals and NPC's will  starve soon.

Obviously legit accounts are perfectly acceptable.  I'm not talking about legit accounts.

Are you talking about hacked steam accounts? Like stolen game keys? If so, then yes, they can not only ban that account in game but in steam as well. If you are talking about people buying additional accounts then no, they cannot. If you seriously think people are buying copies of the game to fluff their taxes, you have way too much time on your hands and your tinfoil hat is loose. I promise you this is a non issue lol.

Those other game management software (blizzard, ubisoft, etc.) have that specifically in their TOS (blizzard because WOW is supscription), steam does not have that stipulation.

Edit: Dude you are double posting to defend a completely ridiculous suggestion. Regardless of what someone else does with their money, if it is bought and paid for, it is NONE OF YOUR CONCERN. You are making no sense and honestly making a fool of yourself. You can throw yourself on the ground and hold your breath in a temper tantrum, but still does not make you right. You post is ridiculous and everyone tried nicely to explain why. Now you are just flaming like a troll.

People use them to form alternative companies, which then settle the same islands as their mains.  Thus producing taxes for themselves when they grind.  ie The alts are the resource gatherers, the mains are the questers and hunters etc.

Inactive accounts should be auto removed after 10 days imo.  Same as buildings/tames. Companies that can no longer support their islands should then loose them.

Lol, first off it would take someone with a bunch of disposable income to buy enough alts to make a difference, second, regardless, they still BOUGHT AND PAID FOR the account, its not like they are using a hacked account.

Third, your comment about inactive account? That is a lawsuit buddy. If a person purchases and pays for anything, and it is NOT stipulated as reoccuring or subscription, they cannot legally remove a paid account unless it is stipulated in their TOS. What about people who go on a two week vacation? What about soldiers deployed overseas? What about people who go out of town for work? Lol, that is a ridiculous statement. No offense, but I get the impression you are a young player.

How many people are making alts to falsely inflate their companies and to generate false taxes in their own settlements?

My kid plays with me from time to time, but I doubt many people are going to dump 30 bucks per alt to fluff their numbers. If they do, well they spent the money so..whats the big deal?

Nah, once I get started on a game I spend all of my time on it. I never get bored. Like literally never get bored.

I am basically just talking to my buddy and drinking beer so even banging on rocks for 12 hours straight and not doing anything else but hitting rocks is fun to me.

To be honest even the whole time playing the extinction map on ark and I only uncovered 1/3 of the map. I definitely won’t be worried about exploring. Just need to find the closest islands with the resources I need and that is my map.

Your whole problem is you are basing Atlas on Ark. Completely different game. Sure, its an ark reskin, but the whole basis of the game is different. Atlas is about sailing all over and gathering resources  from different places. Each region has different types of metal, wood, etc. The whole point is to sail and explore, not stay put and build.

I come from Ark too. I even host my own unofficial ark server with 30+ on it. I am a HUGE fan of Ark and in the beginning upon release I tried to play Atlas like Ark. Its not. Once you realize that and play Atlas for what it is intended, its pretty damn great. We have one brigatine that is for exploring. We keep a bear, tiger and a cow on it. Sail and discover. I put beds and huts down on the really good islands that have resource nodes (metal, rubies, etc.). We have a Galleon that I use as a freighter that has an Elephant, 2 bears, a giraffe and a cow on that we sail to each bed isle and gather resources. That all goes back to my base where I make some pretty cool stuff with all the different materials. We have a schooner that I use to dive to treasures for, another schooner(armored) with cannons to hunt SOTD and another brig (armored) that hunts whales. I do what I feel like doing that day. So many different aspects keep things interesting.

If you ever do play Atlas, try playing it like Atlas and not Ark. They may be similar in how they function, but the game concept is quite different.

Edit: Question, do you really have over 1700 posts on these forums and you dont even play the game? We call that a troll lol

  16. Seems to me Realist has never played atlas and has no comprehension of island size. There are PLENTY of islands. You can literally spend WEEKS sailing from isle to isle and exploring them and never make a dent in the overall map. I have 800 hours in the game and sail every day. Ive seem MAYBe 20% of the islands. I have an exploring brig (currently in M4) that is there to sail from isle to isle and discover. It takes roughly 2 to 3 hours to search each isle. There are 3 to 5 isles per server, 225 servers in the map. Do the math. You literally are clueless and have no idea.  The islands are fine. Maybe they need more buildable land ( mostly mountains and huge rocks) would be nice, but not more islands. As one person said, in some serves the islands are so close its tough to dodge SOTD with a galleon due to the proximities of the islands. What looks like a dot on the map is really a 3 mile island in game. Take the map size into relation. Better yet, actually start playing the game before you speak. You are like the guy complaining about how bad a restaurant is but never ate the food.

    He's done those.

We're looking for a FIX or a new workaround that actually WORKS for him.

..... Could the issue be his processor? Vid card? Ram?..... He's running an i5, 16gb ram, Gtx 1060 6gb, plain old WD green 1tb HDD

I can tell you that mine takes quite some time to load past the Primal Game Data. Like so long that I question if it locked up, and thats with a SSD. Has he ever just let it go and walk away for more than 10 min and see if it loads? I can tell you the processor, ram and vid card are enough. My daughter can load without issues and shes running a really old (my old gaming rig) Core2 Quad 9550, 8GB ram and a GTX 760. Doesnt run fantastic, but it runs.

The .2, .3 .4 etc are the amount of weight you currently have on your ship in reference to your max weight just in a percentage form.  .3 would be 30% of max weight -or- the given number under it.  So for a brand new schooner at .3 of max weight you will be around 2700 weight out of your max weight of 9000.  Hope that helps.

Yup, now I get it..Thank you SIR!!!! Great spreadsheet, thanks for this!!!

Did some calculations based on these assumptions:
Fresh made galleon with a carry weight of 30,000
Common speed sails, weight sails, and cargo crates
Weight sails give 60% of the speed that weight sails give
weight sails and cargo crate penalties are not additive.

Given those assumptions and taking the average speed percentage of weights between 9k and 27k carried weight, the best configuration is 6 speed sails with 1-3 cargo crates.

the percentage calculations I am using is
    = (1-(#WeightSails)*6.7%)* (1-(#CargoCrates)*6.7%)*(1-CurrentWgt/MaxWgt)^0.5

Great work, but can you explain what 0.200, 0.3, 0.4, etc are?? What are the percentages for ? speed? knots? speed loss? Great graph if you can provide a legend to follow.

    Thanks!
