  1. there's an rather easy way to fix the game: redesign the map layout!

    For example:

    1. player islands on the outer ring
    2. first inner rings have rare resources not available on player islands and are claimable
    3. next inner rings and the farther you go to the center the rarer resources you will find
    4. player islands are raidable, but not claimable - on successful raid your company gets x% of target companies resources
    5. fix Server lag which always happen when a lot of players travel accross hardware (not sure if you dev's noticed that), do you have your kubernetes right?
    6. Party hard!

oh ... and 7: remove Torpedos and add something that actually makes sense like new Ship types.

that's it. Otherwise I don't see a future in Atlas given the player base is 3 digits and counting towards bottom with Summer ahead.

  2. ahahahaha level 90+ only (well the name of the company say's all) got punched in the balls by a bunch of level 60-80 players, now how bad can a company be?
No worries, it's no rant, or pvp cheaters flame mimimi. just a BIG FAT LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL for eXploited the worst players of atlas. 🙂

  3. Exactly the thread I expected following the New pvp system. I still suggest devs Start thinking about company skills so players have to make decisions instead of devs changing that peace timer until moon crushes onto earth.

You could actually shoehorn something like this suggestion into the current system by leveraging the various woods they already have in game.

Say that any common deck, plank, gunport, or sail made with only one type of wood would have the following effect on the ship (or component).

    • Generic Wood or mixed wood - No bonus
    • Agedwood +1% more ship gun range
    • Darkwood +1% more ship gun damage
    • Lightwood +1% higher ship weight limit
    • Softwood +1% higher ship speed
    • Strongwood +20% more component hp
    • Wetwood +1% higher ship turning rate
    • Ironwood +1% more ship hp

Assuming the above % is for small planks, for balance you could probably tweak those numbers down a bit to apply .5% for medium planks/sails/decks made of a single wood, and .25% for large planks/sails/decks (since galleons have about 80 of the above components, but sloops only have about 20 - a ship made entirely of one would be in the 20% ballpark you suggest)

Once you get into blueprints above common, the above bonuses would no longer apply, since presumably good blueprints will offer better specific benefits, and you obviously have to use multiple types of wood anyway.

Without adding any new ships, the whole game would be a customize-o-rama, with alot more variety than we see now, at least under the hood.

I like that Idea because you can apply that to pretty much all materials, stone for example for stone walls adding more hp or resistance for example

  5. I feel Atlas is getting better every day. What is missing is a player base that actually works out quite well. At the moment for example there's no point in opening a player shop, without it the economy can't run and without running economy the game is only half for me as a trader at least.

Other than that I am looking forward to further changes, the new Colonies System keeps my sleeping cycle intact and I can do much more ship combat than before. Settlements are still an issue tho as they aren't used by Settlers at all. I'd actually change the entire lawless System to support this because on lawless servers I'd put the very rare resources and enable the old claim system only for these Islands so people actually start fighting over rare resources.

Anyway comparing to other games I paid 25 bucks for a lot of fun with a lot of people which I cannot complain about seeing other games prices/monthly fees/ingame shops.
I havn't played ARK, from the Videos I don't like it.

  6. guess Talono was just sarcastic - the settlers system is good, but there's plenty of room for improvements because right now you cannot really settle somewhere without beeing scared of a dispute making the island owner take all your stuff with nothing you can do about it.

  7. I think there should be some system like an auction house in other mmo's - those could be placed at freeports but they are all synchronized with each other.
You'd still have to bring the gold to the freeport and ship items off after purchase. I find it's an important part of strategy and risk gameplay that you have to travel around with the items instead of just finding them in some random inbox/mail.

  8. Hey all,

I just stumbled up on Company Size increasing to 75. Now devs could do that all the rest of the game and change it back and forth every now and then.
How about starting to think different? I thought about a Skill System for Companies, everything in this game has Skills, why not Companies?

Let's say as a base every Company starts with 75 Members, gaining a level up grants your Company Skillpoints similar to those of a pathfinder. Putting it into max. Company Member limit you'd get to 77, 79, 81 and so on. To make the System work there have ofcourse to be other Skills to choose from, maybe even different Tree's if there's enough ideas for Company Skills for example Structure Hitpoint increase on the Island, Artillerie Damage, passive Gold income or whatever could fit.

Let me know what you think and feel free to add your own Ideas onto it, the more the better!

    Happy sailing!

  9. Worked well in ragnarok online, local player shops in different spots have been known to offer a specific category of items with some very crowded spots and some are kinda empty or merchants sitting in the middle of nowhere with their store selling healing stuff to adventurers.

So does anyone have a proper way to set this up and get into the map editor I cant seem to make sense of https://github.com/GrapeshotGames/ServerGridEditor/wiki. I feel like there is a lot of information left out. Heck I cannot even seem to find the the map editor to make a 2x2

Right now there's not enough information for a "normal" user to get this up and running. So you'll likely get stuck on some errors without experience with code/Servers. There's discord up for help by the community.
