My PVE char is about to hit level 45 and he has never fired a gun. I use the bow (w/stone arrows) and wear plate (but with the pirate hat). I rarely get knocked out. When my bow breaks or I run out of arrows I use my sword. I can go days without dieing, and when I do, it's because I wasn't paying attention.

try living on an island with yeti's lol.

  3. The big problem is the amount of these sotd and whales. Still if i sail in my sector we see 2-5 sotd constantly. They need to be rare. If i want to sail trough a maze i would be playing a different game. If we attack a ship at sea we need to turn away most of the times due to sotd or whale. If ee get attacked then yea we can use it to our advantage but i dont see the fun or usefullness of sotd and whales.

  4. There are whales, ship of the damned, storms and players. There are too many ways to lose your ship while sailing it and when you think you are save back home. You get raided 15m after you log out. Happened this night to us. We are a small crew and lost several ships brigs and scooners.

Whales and ship of the damned do not add anything to the game. They are just really annoying. They need to be rare and not be a maze you have to go through.

When it is fully released, I'm optimistic the balance will be better.  By then they'll have released a bunch more stuff and have it all balanced (hopefully) as a whole.  There probably isn't much point in balancing each system prior to adding them all in.  Then they're balancing the same systems over, and over, and over, and slowing the entire development process down.

So just leave the whale and let it oneshot ships that take days to build

  6. I agree with everthing. They should make them rare. That when you finnaly see one you want to risk it all to kill it for great loot. So less then a few over the entire map

We are in the snowy part of the map and the amount of those things is insane. We see 2-4 almost constantly and once we were surrounded by 8. And it happened a few times already that we jump server and spawn on top of one thats attacking us.

Its not fun. It doesnt add anything usefull to the game. It only interrupts the pirate game.

go south more and youll encounter the yetis. Literally everywhere. pistol shots do like 450 damage which is maybe 15% of their hp and they 4-5 shot you in full fur gear. Overtuned af but its funny af lol

Try a alpha yeti, we trapped it and killed it. Took us long enough though 7dmg per arrow.1 hit is enough in any armor haha. But we gained like 600 fur

ORP should not be a thing in a Civilization Builder....  any protection should be accomplished via the players in the game... EI your friend protecting your stuff while your asleep...

A Sandbox is a world where the players write the chapters of the book and that includes good and bad...  what the game needs is not game mechanic protection but game mechanic Causation IE side effects of being a criminal...

And don't talk about the star citizen scam pls!

Consequences for not being able to be online 24/7 due to work/child/and more. Game will be dead in few months sinds nobody wants to farm hours and hours and keep losing it when they are offline since people want to raid safely.

People defending have consequences being offline while the attacker is 100% safe. zero risk , great logic. Why raid a base with people online and take damage and maby lose ships. Raid it offline WIN WIN.

We need some form of protection to keep our ships safe. Not everybody wants to build bases to have some form of protection. Now i need to return to base everytime we stop due to stupid npc ships and people. What means we cant explore far. The further away the longer the return trip

Out of curiosity, how do you plan to get 10 rafts out with the decay system?  Plus, no offence, but the reason why we have a decay system is the multiple rafts clogging up the place.

Despawn the rafts when the player disconnects. If the devs solution is destroying peoples rafts. its a bad and lazy solution.

And yes people wil use free ports for zero risk. After putting so many hours into building one and its gets destroyed because you are offline feels unfair. If i lose it in battle im okee with it. If i lose hours and hours of progress due to being offline ill just quit the game.

I want to sail around. Now im just sailing 2a3 sectors max before returning to base for a bit more safety. So i cant go further since i dont have enough playtime to sail back. Fun

Yeah but in Eve, your ship logs out when you do so you never have to deal with offline bulshit.

    This,

Staying online with your ship is a bad choice of the develepors for an MMO. Ship decay is a bad way of solving "o shit to many ships to many laggsss". they should think of something else. Ships in freeport are safe anyway. let them despawn.

The only reason we build a base was for safety of our ship. I'd rather just sail from port to port with other island in between like pirates..????

  11. We have our base in a low population server and when we want to get out of there we come across insane amounts of ships of the damned. We constantly have around 2-6 ships around us. its really hard to even sail around safely let alone the right direction. If we go to a different sector we often get spawned next to a ship of the damned. just now we nearly lost our ship due to spawning near 2 ships of the damned who followed us back to the other sector. its just to much thats why i made a topic.

I dont see the point of these ships. Its not fun to just sail around moving seamines. It would be much more fun if its rare to see one instead of seeing one constantly.
Why should there even be so many NPC ships in a PVP server where the danger of losing your ship is already big enough.

  12. Hello,

Why do ships need to get damage over time when not anchored? i dont see why this mechanic is any good. Remove this mechanic or make it easier to maintain your ship.
Like you can put in materials in the ship so it keeps itself repaired or make it easier to repair. The way it is now is not fun at all. and repairing it trough an NPC doesnt make it any better.
When we arrive at a freeport(or a other place) and anchor our ship, so it doesnt get damage, we cant spawn at the bed onboard our ship since its to close to others/island or what ever i dont even know. The mechanics doesnt work together it works against eachother. i dont see the problem of spawning at your own bed aboard your ship near an island...

These things make the game alot less fun imo
