Did you talk to the people before you pulled right up to their island? Negotiate terms?
Do you just drive your truck on to your neighbor's lawn and say, "I'm parking here while I go look around in your garden."

Chat sucks currently.

The larger sails have far more canvas, so while it looks a bit silly it makes realistic sense. Now if the ships actually had roll mechanics you couldn't use those sails. You'd tip over.

parts and structures built on a ship should remain able to be picked up until such a time as its released from dry dock.
I don't think they should be able to reenter though as that would allow people to have one brig and then swap out weapons etc with no cost.
Swapping out guns would take a while to haul around unless you just carry the extra weight on the ship. Plus it's realistic. The free respec would be too much with the instant switch between weight and sturdiness.

At first I tried, but I just don't care anymore. Especially since moving to an island that only has meat (water is so cold you freeze in seconds with 40 fortitude and fine fur. Tried fishing, with bait, fine pole, watched for hours as fish swam past my wormsicle and laughed at me.). I also spend most of my time sailing. Everything spoils too fast to be worth the trouble of trying to keep four vitamins balanced. I need my skill points for worthwhile abilities.

I would like to pull ship into dry dock to work on it easier, but none of the rest. Ship respec is ridiculous and too easy to abuse. Attached pieces should be able to be picked up whole while dry docked.

The days of editing text files to have an effect on something like spawn rates are long gone. Change a value in one mob class may result in tremendous negative changes in other mob classes.
You can't just stomp around in data-fields with hobnail boots.
Have you ever hosted an ARK server? Or an ATLAS server? It's literally a global spawn rate multiplier in the config.ini
There are way too many animals. Period. Cut it in half at least.

What pisses me off and a lot of other people is how simple some of these changes are. It's literally changing a number in a text file to reduce spawns. There are tons of threads complaining about this. Play with the numbers, find the sweet spot. Do something!

When I tested the sail handling speeds it worked as long as I was on the ship. (Two weeks ago) Anyone could be at the wheel. Maybe reduced pay applies company wide? There's definitely no change when I get on / off ship like there was with sail handling.
-
Great idea! I was just going to suggest a net bag that can be filled with wreckage and hauled up, but this is better. The whole diving rig and suit is such a neat idea and so totally worthless in it's current form.

Yeah, not sure about those myself, but it's still the best tree in the game if you sail a lot. The active reload skills and the sail handling skills are amazing.

I think they secretly raised cyclone damage. Previously we sailed right through the middle of them and took zero to a hundred damage on planks. (Players often died, but ship took hardly any damage.) Last storm I sailed through I hit one cyclone and took about 700 damage on all planks. The other ship next to me hit three or four cyclones and sank.
It would be nice if cyclones were reduced in number and frequency. They spawn on ships every time it rains. Not just two or three, but a dozen or more surrounding every ship, every time it rains.

I don't know about each of you, but if I get pissed off enough from bad game mechanics to rage quit, I never come back. I warn people off the game. I actively try to get my friends to play something else. It would take sworn statements from my three best friends, my brother, and the pope to get me to come back to a game.
If I just get tired of a game there's a good chance I'll come back to it eventually, but bad dev choices will poison the well. I spent $300+ on Black Desert. They did some pvp nerf (core system, not class balance) about 4 months after release and I uninstalled and never looked back.

Wearing gear really should be a separate starts open tree. It's dumb that you have to learn tannery and metallurgy to unlock the ability to wear advanced armor.

Take fire arrow do kill the npc that guard the chest and enjoy the free gold

Don’t waste your time doing common or fine maps. Farm those bottles
PvE. Most islands kill you when you try to treasure map on PvP server unless you already establish relations with them. Even if they let you they tax 30%
Edit to add: We spend over 500 gold a day on NPC's and we're just getting started. Love the little beggars.

They've said this game isn't supposed to focus on the animals. Cut the spawn rate and max population in half. Would help out the servers too.

Does leveling one of the stats increase the build limit?
Edit to add: Are you guys using the big chunk decks or individual ceiling tiles?

And 30 minutes to kill, 60 bolts x 16 iron?, dodging?, well, guess not gonna take our schooner or a spin if we have to dodge an instakill, especialy that there's 30-50 SoDs in every grid surrounding islands so where to hide..., will just wait for one to go land mode and will stick into it few hundret of arrows.
Blue whale tail slaps the whole ship for about 600 damage to every plank. It's not too hard to dodge / outrun. Dunno about mean whale.

2 minutes ago, Hodo said:Even when it says its foggy in game, I still dont see the fog. Could it be a graphics setting issue?
Dunno which setting it is, but one of em disables fog totally. I play on max settings. Only disable garbage like motion blur and lens flare.

1 minute ago, Nightstrasza said:Really..., is that realy so easy to kill a whale? how many bolts and how fast it went down?, would want to get a bunch of bolts and just respec bcs that perk is a total waste of 14 points otherwise.
Took us about 60 bolts, but we missed quite a few. Maybe 30 minutes to kill and harvest? Mostly maneuvering to get shots in without getting hit. Took a long time to find the damn thing though. See them everywhere until you actually want one. It was blue whale, haven't tried mean whale yet.

26 minutes ago, Migolcow said:Ahhh, thanks, did not know about ballista = whale but it makes a (silly) sort of sense in a game where pirates covet gems not for the cash value, but their explosive properties XD
Still wondering in what scenario a catapult means anything but stupid waste.
1 minute ago, Nightstrasza said:Balista is a waste too, other than whales it does laughable dmg, the projectile is slow, cost alot of iron, the balista itself costs like 4x more alloy or something than a cannon. That is not a poor mans cannon, that is nothing.
Indeed, ballista is for farming whales. Took one down with two ballista on a sloop. 1400 gold in whale's inventory. Pay for my two brig's crews for a couple days.

In the polar regions it is often foggy and hitting an iceberg pretty much instantly destroys a ship. Lighthouse on our harbor had been quite useful.

New games are starting to use full CPU capabilities. Dual Universe uses 100% of my i7 8700k. Had to buy liquid cooling for it.
Look at performance specs of GPU. I never get less than XX70 series. Big jumps in performance levels between XX60 and XX70. You can find 1070 under $400 on sale.
Easy software to overclock these days, so pointless to pay extra for overclock from supplier. Use something like CPUid to monitor heat levels and look for voltage spikes. Even dummies like me can do it these days.
Unoccupied and anchored ships should be immune to damage...

Could be buried treasure. Better go dig it up to be sure. Metal detector might help. Lost wedding rings can be quite valuable.
