so my sloops sank while i was offline on pve server, its still there under water with no holes in it and no1 stole anything from it so doesnt look like griefing, anyone else has boats sinking for no reason at all ?

2 days ago a couple of guys parked their schooner in my claimed harbor and logged out. Yesterday afternoon I found that schooner in the bottom of my harbor with their dingy floating around.  Meanwhile, my anchored sloop and the anchored raft from a previous claimer barely took any damage. Ships in freeports and unanchored ships on someone else's claim take large amounts of damage and will sink.  Which, btw, is a great way to give the claim owner something exciting to do.  If it weren't for massive numbers of sharks I might even consider investing in a diving rigged sloop.

  2. With all of the negative posts and complaints (including mine) I just wanted to take a moment and say, 'thank you' to the dev's.  THIS is a much needed fix.  It's not nearly enough but it's a good start:

    - Wild land creatures will no longer target crew, tames, or characters on ships unless they have been aggro'd

Because damn it after 4 days we had thought we would be well past the 'newbi raft' stage.

I have had to restart 3 times now on rafts and I can safely say this: There is land to be claimed. If you're looking for the perfect island, you won't find that and probably wouldn't want it because of lag and overcrowding. If you're willing to tolerate the cold or deal with gobs of aggros then yes, there are claims to be taken.  You simply have to be willing to work for it.

My secret? I found a guy with public crafting tables, gobs of fiber and sap.  He did charge tax on it but, it allowed me to craft furs and stock my raft for a voyage into the frozen north.

Now, I'm settled in and living like a Viking.  It's freezing cold and to save on paste, I wear hides and stay indoors at night.  When it rains, I freeze if I'm outside. Every week I'll have to make a run down south back to that guy's 'inn' for fiber (but with the last big patch, I now have some fiber on the island).  I pay 30% on what I collect but in just an hour or two I'm able to get more than a week's supply with just a sickle.  I have wolves out the ass, vultures that peck me to death and the occasional rampaging alpha horse that whacks me dead for no reason.  But you know what?  I'm enjoying it.  There are bears, wolves, lions, sheep and even elephants to tame. I have mountains on both sides of me and a lush valley I can call my own and damned few neighbours, just the way I like it.

Quit looking for a paradise with umbrellas in your mai-tai.  Respec hard into fortitude and move to the tundra. You'll find many spots where those who thot they had what it takes found out they really didn't and left.

Devs don't play the game, so they don't know how bad it is and when making changes they have no point of reference to judge whether a change is good or bad.

So in other words, their only point of reference is to watch bitching, unorganized streamers who run around naked crying, 'I can't win, I can't win.' Then, nerf the piss out of what the streamer was bitching about while ignoring the forums.  Got it.  Thanks for the clarification.

  5. I left my house an ran to a hill behind it.  Took about 2 minutes and I was killed by a lion on the hill.  My EQ despawns in 20 minutes.  I was not able to make it back to get that gear and it wasn't from lack of trying.

Earlier today I had 4 wolves in my taming trap and 5 more trying to eat their way through my house.

A schooner wrecked overnight in my lagoon.  I died no less than 30 times trying to salvage it and my house is right on the beach.  Between the wolves and the sharks what should have been a 15 minute job became 2 hours of me screaming, "BULLSHIT" into my monitor.

Is this seriously how they think this game should be played?  Someone please explain to me the fucked up logic of the dev's that has so far produced a 'nay' when asked to nerf aggros.

No I could have said that, instead I just gave you two reasonable choices. I am sure one of of the two will work quite well.

You need to learn that you cant just go wherever you want, unless you level up or something.

Level up?  Ok, so I'm lvl 45 now and get slaughtered by a lvl 1.  Exactly what good are more levels going to do?  Give me... maybe guns? So I can shoot those wolves? And then go out trying to farm and get my ass eaten because I've wasted half my resources killing wolves instead of building ships?

    Good plan dumb ass.

I think you need to clearly define that 'or something.'

  7. There have been numerous posts on these forums bitching, ranting, begging, pleading and threatening regarding aggros.  Have they listened to the players yet?  No, and there's a reason. They know what's best for this game. You don't. So, just suck it up and autohotkey the respawn button... mkay?

Quit pretending like your whinging (and it *is* whinging to those familiar with Game of Thrones),and presenting things with foul mouthed invective is a better approach to getting a problem solved than logic. You can cast aspersions at my writing style all you like (yeah typos are not really a big concern of mine, sorry. With all the horrible use of language on message boards, you're really gonna try to call me out on a one word typo? mmkay)

If you can throw out cliches, then they're fair game for me too. You get more flies with honey. Do you think you're gonna convince the people who make the decisions to change things by hurling profanity at them? Squeaky wheel or no I wouldn't put money on your chances when you do. And yeah, when you throw around all caps and profanity and bitch about every problem with the game you can think of, sorry but that's ranting. My education doesn't really have any bearing, you just don't like it, so you throw shade at it too. How surprising.

Review that video and then tell me that 'foul mouthed' invectives don't work.

    I'm done with you.

At this point you're just emoting about everything that makes you mad about this game and that's pretty obvious.

But blindly asserting that the devs bow to the will of streamers without any better evidence

Throwing the word bullshit around like you're getting a bulk discount also strongly suggests you're coming from a place if not purely then primarily from emotion rather than reason.

What I need is not more proof of how the game works, your rant told me little I wasn't already aware of. What I need is more proof you can present a cogent arguement rather than whinging about stuff that upsets you.

    1. Makes MANY people mad. Do you read these forums or do you just come here to try to impress everyone with your linguistic prowess.

    2. Day one, who got access first?

    3. I don't need reason when it's obvious BULLSHIT!

    4. I'm not ranting. I'm just putting you and your overeducated ass in its place.

Quit pretending like your infallible logic is going to persuade them to fix what's busted. Let me slap you with a cliche': 'The squeaky wheel gets the grease.' THIS nerf is exactly that.

(By the way it's argument not 'arguement' and it's whining, not 'whinging'. If you're going to try to sound like a condescending intellectual, and at least observe the spellcheck.)

Btw when you talk about not being able to take a harvesting pet out of the pen without it dying, you'll have to forgive me if I take that complaint with a grain of salt. I played an awful lot of ark and got used to players endlessly complaining that this thing or that thing was OP and needed nerfing when in reality the core problem was their lack of taking responsiblity for situational awareness and paying attention to their surroundings.

You apparently need more proof as to how this game works.  When I die instantly and repeatedly 20 times because 3 crocs are sitting on the bed on my raft, the only responsibility lies with the devs in making a bullshit game and not thinking.  Situational awareness has NOTHING to do with not even being able to spawn. Situational awareness has NOTHING to do with an alpha spawning inside an enclosed space and killing pets.  Situational awareness has NOTHING to do with launching your ship and having an alpha croc spawn and instantly smash it. Situational awareness has NOTHING to do with mobs being able to stick their head through brick walls and destroy your furnishings, kill you and your pets. Situational awareness has NOTHING to do with people being able to load themselves up with 45,000 worth of metal and solo sink someone's PVE brig. Bad game design has EVERYTHING to do with is so stop being a fanboy and blaming the players.

There's a fine line between challenge and bullshit and this game has so far done nothing but step well into the bullshit territory and this nerf is just another example of it.  And the sad part... soooo many players have complained about the utter bullshit on these forums I outlined above yet this streamer, who plainly states that devs are watching, whines and shit changes.  Coincidence? Maybe. Bullshit? Definitely.

Are they working hard to fix this game? Yes, and I am glad to see that. Is this a fix? No.

My island is as far from a freeport as you can get.   So, how easy do I want it?  How about just spreading those ferns out among the trees and rocks, like on ARK.  That's not too much to ask for an item that is the most common resource in the recipes for common items, from tools, to arrows, to structures, to armor, etc...

Actually, I'm liking it's rarity in some places. While my claim has 0 fiber I'm more than happy to sail 2 grids south and get a weeks' supply.  The laziness of others to do the same and their unwillingness to tolerate anything less than a perfect island has given me a nice, lag-free claim.

But this thread is about pets... don't try to hijack it.

The problematic underlying assumption with the OP's post is the inherent notion that tames *should* be as powerful as he or she wants them to be, and that this is the reason for the game's poor reviews.

What you're arguing at the end of the day is demanding a change to the game to suit your personal preferences. There is a way to request this sort of thing that might get it considered. Table flipping rants like what we see here isn't it.

4 tames lost today to alphas.  I don't think there's any assumption here, I think there's facts.

    1. There's an entire skill tree dedicated to pets.

    2. What's the point of having tames if you can't even pull them out of the pen... no wait.  You can leave them in the pen and they'll still get killed. One of mine did.

    3. Personal preference? No GAME MECHANICS... read the skill tree.  A harvesting pet is USELESS if you can't take it out harvesting without it getting slaughtered.

    4. Request this sort of thing? Are you kidding. A request?  That was a bitching rant on the part of the streamer and it DID get changed.  You need more proof as to how this game company works?

    23 minutes ago, boomervoncannon said:

That's the kind of feedback more likely to persuade a dev to take a closer look at something.

Or you can become a whiny ass streamer who runs around naked bitching about how he can't win.  Seems that works too.

  13. What I saw was a disorganized mess trying to assault a smaller organized TEAM and this retard bitching and whining that him standing around doing NOTHING wasn't winning the fight.  And this is why tames are getting nerfed?  All the bitching about alphas, massive aggro numbers, crocs sinking ships, a screwed up claim system, pve ships getting sunk by other players, players unable to join, and they listen to this jackass?

Right, and I'd like to continue to see a further push away from Tames. Aside from farming purposes of course.

Well, that's a wonderful idea and I agree completely... just as soon at the 30 odd predators stop showing up whenever I'm out with a tame farming or the dozen odd vultures stop beating on my wolf when I have him devour a corpse for a resource.

For now though, this change will make resource gathering pets pretty much useless.

    6 minutes ago, Aaryl said:

I dont mind nerfing tames as long as they nerf wilds with it. My bear with 950 hp and dealing 50 dmg a hit takes a 40% nerf. Crocs hit it for 20 dmg and have roughly 400 hp...a wild croc is as strong as my bear

My 400 hp wolf will drop to 260.

  15. There have been dozens and dozens of posts on this exact topic.  Don't you people get it yet?  You are being ignored.

But there's good news.  They updated the animation for rabbits. Soon, you can sit one on your shoulder and get a nice chuckle when an alpha croc bites their lil head off (of course yours will be included as a package deal for the croc).

That's why you start off at the Freeports my dude. The game isn't impossible it's built around being with a group of people. You can do it, it's just not easy for you to do it and I'm sorry you're having a hard time the surviving game in a Survival game. Again just because you're having a hard time doesn't mean we should wipe the server for poor you...

I'm not proposing a server wipe. I've already stated that.  Wildcard made a HUGE mistake with the multiple claim system from the word go. Now they have to figure out how to unfuck what they've done in a reasonable manner.  On PVP servers, this shouldn't be an issue.  Everything can be lost in short order.  On PVE servers? No.

I'm on Reptile Hell Island mate, they've eaten all the wolves.  There  are times I have been chased by 2 Crocs Plus a 120 Alpha Croc and a Giant Snake.  Or today, 5 Crocs.  Some days it's tough, so stash your gear and do a nekkid run to scout claims out.  It's what I did

I'm no stranger to crocs. I'm lvl 35.  My first house, I built a fence around it.  Worked quite well.  But on that island, the snakes and other hostiles were few.  The crocs were the dominant force.  Now, I'm having to look for new land and deal with EVERY type of hostile creature.  So it's not like I've spent all my time in a freeport. I know how to run and avoid these mobs. The problem arises when you happen to die, respawn on your raft and a croc is sitting right there.  You have no chance to jump in the water and kite it off... it's faster than you.  Soon, that 1 croc on your raft turns into 3.  I've waited 10 minutes to respawn and they were still there.

Usually I would agree with you, and if this was ark I would definitely agree with you.

the thing is the twitch streamers go a hold of this one. Guaranteed that probably 60% are either Megas or alliances with a mega most of the players like it how it is.

the part where you are right is that this will definitely affect the influx of new players. That you would be completely right on. Don’t get me wrong I hate wildcard but the numbers won’t drop because it stays the same.

The same players playing right now are the ones that like it how it is.

The numbers will drop slightly, but the one thing you can count on is they won’t increase by that much either 👍

I was hyped for No Man's Sky.  But in that case, I played it a bit smarter. I waited.  And when I saw the huge flood of negative reviews and complaints and how the game could be 'completed' in a matter of hours, I patted myself on the back.

I STILL have not purchased No Man's Sky even though I'm told it's done a complete turnaround.

To this game, the damage has already been done.  The Steam reviews say so.  And the only thing that the players have at their disposal to give Wildcard a wakeup call is exactly what we're doing now. Making these issues known so that others don't make the mistake we did.

  19. 1 minute ago, artaherduron said:

So you're assuming because you're having a hard time that mean we're all having a hard time... So based on that idea we should have the server wipe and our Company Hard work taken away? That would make them lose their player base. If you want land I suggest you sail to the Colder zones - there's quite a lot of empty plots simply because of the environment..

Ah right... that's where a naked noob gets 10 minutes of play time and 20 minutes of repeatedly freezing to death.  And let's not forget there's almost no fiber in those areas so trying to build anything takes you 5 times as long as anywhere else. Oh yea, and those wolves that run faster than you do... they love colder climates.  Ever had a pack of 5 of them hunt you down?  Now that's some serious fun.

    1 minute ago, artaherduron said:

Sounds like you need to go to another Zone/island lmao

    You think I haven't?

Try counter-claiming.  Go up to a flag, try and place yours and it will tell you how many seconds to the 3 day timer running out.  If the time looks reasonable, slap your flag down.  Don't look at all the red circles and give up.

Now there, you're making a huge assumption.

You're assuming I can even get off my raft and even LOOK at a claim's status.  I spent 30 minutes... dying repeatedly because crocs camped my spawn. That's happened FOUR TIMES in 2 days.

"Oh, thats why I anchor way out and swim ashore."

And the crocs swim faster than you do.

So, let's assume I somehow make it ashore.  Wolves that run faster than I do.  Vegetation so thick you can't see the 3 snakes at your heels.  And let's not forget the lions, scorpions, etc..

I"ve found at least 2 island that are almost devoid of players and have lots of claims open. Why?  The aggro respawn on them make it impossible to even get a start.
