Not seeing the patch notes anywhere. This was a client-side update, so there's liable to be some interesting changes.

We're currently redeploying our Official Network to Major v11. This will require a client side update and this should re-enable attack based feats, as well as resolve exploits.

Во фрипорте корабль за считаные часы ломается на якоре. Нельзя оставлять свои корабли там, тебе его никто возвращать не будет.

LOL, they took a galleon to a freeport? Woops. Good call seeing that.

With zombies and army of the dead. no one would complain then about wolves and this game would instantly turn into a horror survival game.

That would work with one big exception. FPS horror game developers, going all the way back to the original Castle Wolfenstein, realized early on that players don't enjoy having their characters slaughtered repeatedly as it isn't fun. Grapeshot has chosen to ignore this axiom of game development and the complaints on the forums and the negative reviews reflect that choice.

Sry, devs and some fanatic fanboys think this is supposed to happen and is "challenging".

It is a challenge though. The challenge is in convincing yourself that this game will get fixed.

Never had a Ferrari or known anybody that did, huh? If you had you would know that's a bad analogy, they spend more time in the shop than on the road.

Well, that would be a pretty accurate analogy then.

Can we get a definitive rule set for how claims work.  They are quite confusing.  Like in PVE if I have a claim.  I just have to visit that area for a bit once every 3 days to make sure it can't be taken?

I'd love an answer on this too. But don't hold your breath on getting a real answer.

  7. Like one response said, build a fence.  My first claim was gator infested.  I soon discovered that since they were too large to fit in doors that they were too large to fit through the fence structures as well.  I died lots of times doing it but I eventually got a fence all the way around the house.  That gave me some moments of sanity where I could actually walk around outside without getting attacked.

One other trick I used once the fence was built was to lure an alpha elephant toward the house, break down enough fence so it could get in and then rebuild it.  It was wonderful. For two days, before it despawned in a crash, all I heard was dying crocs and one pissed off pachyderm.

Hint: Wolves can't fit through doorways either.

  8. And they're making it even easier.  Prior to 10 I was thinking I'd have to make several trips to get the resources I need to tame the animals on my island. Now? Berries is all I need.  Seems to work for most anything except the wolves and I just kill a few of them to get the bones I need to tame them with.

    As for comparisons to EVE:

In EVE, I was a huge trader dealing mostly in buying mission drops cheaply and then recycling them into minerals.
In Atlas, tossing shit on the ground and hoping the other guy you're dealing with does the same is not an economy.

In EVE, I could always get in a mining barge, run out to belt in high sec and make a few coins if I needed and easily deal with the rats that spawned.
In Atlas, I can't even leave my house to chop down a tree because of the 5 wolves and 3 alpha vultures circling overhead. I still have not fully explored the island where my claim is.

In EVE, I could always hop in a freighter and, with relative safety, run to a trading hub and make a few coins selling my excess on the market.
In Atlas, my sloop hasn't lifted anchor in days because of the constant threat of SotD.  Seeing a video of a galleon chewed to bits by a green SotD with bugged guns convinced me this has been a good decision.

In EVE there is hundreds and hundreds of zones to explore that easily supported a population of 50,000+. You could even find zones that no one had been in in days.
In Atlas, you open your back door to take a piss and you're likely pissing on someone else's house.

I played EVE for around 13 years before I finally got bored of it and was happy to pay them the monthly fees till I did. Even then I knew there was so much that I had no knowledge of.
In Atlas, I feel like I've already discovered most of what it has to offer and I've barely left my island.

EVE? Atlas? No. There is no comparison.

Can I hope there will be?  Oh yes.  Oh yes.

  9. I hope I got this right.

Now that lawless islands are getting their first taste of alphas, I'm curious as to what everyone's opinion is of whether there are too many, not enough or just the right amount of predators/alphas based on the regions they play in.

Gaming companies like Wildcard base many of their decisions on statistics. I'm hoping the results of this poll will be large enough to have an influence on their decision making process.  PLEASE take a moment and take the poll.

    Thanks.

First of all this game isn't made for you to live on a big island with you and your 5 friends dying your armor and RPing being pirates.

You need to clan up... fleet battles are going to be a lot of fun with tons of people manning each ship... you need so many people to properly man a  boat... and we got this terrible ARK mental block with all these kids wanting to build a little house and sail around on a sloop.  Official servers probably aren't the place for many of you, and you need to go find a quiet lil private server...

P.S. take the Chinese with you.

It's arrogant sots exactly like you who think they know what's best for everyone that makes me cringe every single time someone suggests I 'clan up'.  YOU are exactly why I play solo.

  11. @Jatheish Thank you.  It's finally nice to know there's an actual human on the other side. US President FDR used to have what he called 'fireside chats.'  They were hugely popular because people felt as if he had just walked into their homes, sat down and explained things. IMHO, for now, this type of monologue is going to win you a lot more respect and patience than a propaganda filled 'Captain's Log.'

    Well done.

Well if you can not move while over encumbered then you can not move to ship or anywhere. If you are talking about body bagging then that can also be patched out. That would fix it. No hang gliding when you are over encumbered. Those are all the things you would have to do to ensure that someone can not simply get on your ship with alot of weight unless they actually move it load by load. If you fix the bug where you can drop items and then fill your inventory and then pick up al the items you already dropped then you would actually have to have more then one person on the ship to get the weight over limit.

Of course all these Fixes would destroy the current farming meta. No opinion either way to be honest.

No no... they wouldn't have coded in all those things if they didn't want it that way.  Right?  That's what you've been saying so far.  Apparently, in your opinion, they don't make mistakes.

Not at all. Tweaking settings is one thing. But to suggest that they spent time coding in a weight limit that sinks a ship, and that is an exploit is different. Maybe they will tweak how much weight sinks a ship but they won't take it out. But thanks for coming out.

    Thanks for being clueless.

Its called a weight limit and if they didn't want to add it in then they wouldn't have coded it.

Well, with that theory then everything in this game is running just perfect and there should be absolutely no need for patches because they surely wouldn't have coded in anything they didn't want to add... right?

Aren't they going to do that no matter what??

Exploiting? Ship weight mechanics are not a bug people are taking advantage of. Its a Gameplay mechanic. It was intentionally put into the game.

Being able to solo carry 50,000 metal and solo sinking a galleon is an intended mechanic?  Wow, I didn't know that. I'll run out to my harbor right now and just stuff my sloop in my back pocket then.  Problem solved.

i understand but this sloop was on my own land but i am not sure if i anchored it tho, on my land i can sometimes not anchor cause of weird under water stuff

Then you have your answer as to what happened.  Even on your claim unanchored, they take much more damage.
