OK, i see there is sufficient 'feedback' on how ridiculously stupid this change was and doesn't even 'fix' the overweight sinking a ship issue. So i'll just add my +1 here for a terrible change that ADDS more problems and doesn't solve them. And spend my energy on trying to fix this myself, as I have no faith in devs to do it.

NB: It's highly unlikely devs will change this, for all their talk of 'not repeating past mistakes', that's precisely what's happening here. And i can count on my fingers the number of times they reversed a 'change'. This 'bug' is here to stay. Fingers crossed for dev kit soon so players can fix the game for the devs.

lol what are you talking about. This did fix the issue. Had a guy try to sink my ship today watched him try and just slid around my deck.... May not be what you wanted the fix to be if you even wanted it but it works.

Can someone link to patch notes actually containing this change?  I can find no mention of it.

I did find something about encumbered players, which is perfectly fine, but I'm stuck in this bug and am in no way encumbered at all.

I believe this is a bug, not even remotely an intentional fix at this point.

Its this one  Disabled non allied players and creatures basing on anchored or docked ships which can be toggled with a server-setting on PVE servers with the in Game.ini - set bPvEAllowNonAlignedShipBasing=true If you want to allow non allies to be able to be on your ship

This has got to be the worst change ever made.  Have you guys not played this game?  Sometimes you want to be on a boat to see how they designed it.  Sometimes you need to see who owns it.  Sometimes you slip and fall on a boat.  If the game tossed you back off that would be one thing but to have yourself stuck floating and the only way off the boat is to kill yourself --- utterly dumb!  I've lost all my things because I jumped on this person's boat and all to see who parked their boat between our docks.

If you want to fix an exploit, challenge yourself a bit more and find a way to do it that doesn't involve punishing other players.

Why would you have to climb on a boat to see who owns it? You can swim up to it and see on the side or look at it through a skyglass And theres the big floating letters that say the company name of the ship.

I love your workaround but the fact devs could only come up with this mechanic now as a solution is just rediculous, how hard can it be to properly code something that prevents this kind of griefing.

This is only the solution to the rafts,  not much else they could do.

As for the overweighting NO this solution did not work as peopel were cheating the systems to get on ships even with parking like this.. Hence how i lost all my ships and posted the letter to Jat

I said it in another thread, will say it again...

You are 100% that in both scenarios, I'm annoyed and unable to use my ship... but in the post-adjustment, I STILL HAVE MY SHIP.

Also, if you park right, they won't be able to anchor and block you in, and they will decay FAST unanchored (and can still be tanked)

All you do is park with your ass in the shallow,  bow facing the sea.. To deep for a raft to anchor... and an unanchored raft can be pushed out of the way by any ship.

No one is saying get rid of PVE servers..... as above mentioned children have a hard time following conversations.

Well since you cant seem to talk to other people with common Courtesy and can only sit on your high horse like your better somehow. you can just stop talking.

I don't think you fully understand.... and I get it.... children usually don't follow conversations well.

The game isn't Atlas PVP and Atlas PVE....

Its Atlas a MMO designed for player conflict and player interaction with player driven content.

Its not Atlas a MMO designed for player trading and role-playing.

The later is a bonus from the core game design.... and no efforts should be put toward that effort... they will organically derive from making the core game... (PVP) better.

So please.... enjoy your farm animals (but not in a sexual way) and be quiet.

Its funny you think the game is ONLY PVP. there is no design for PVE or RPing in this..

One of the biggest MMOs in history was divided right down the middle jsut like this... World of Warcraft.  1/2 PVP 1/2 PVE

You keep calling everyone that doesnt play Children.... Are you mad that we got a patch we needed for PVE to survive? Or is it that you feel your are somehow more mature than anyone that plays PVE?  Just wanna know so i knwo why i am laughing at you

But again. Your Wrong if it was only PVP they would never had made PVE server.. and before you say it no it wasn't pressure from people that want to only play PVE.   Was originally announced with PVP and PVE servers.

Sorry your just going to have to live with the fact that PVE servers are here to stay and theres nothing you can do about it..  so go back to hunkering down in your ship garage. i think there are peopel coming to raid you better watch out... thats all you really get to do in PVP

This is getting rather old dude.  Lazy people and children play both PvE and PvP.  The problem you are having is that you can't seem to fathom adults with lives outside of the game(this seems to preclude you) don't want to spend all of their time in a video game building a garage for their ships that shouldn't need them in a mode that shouldn't see player versus player interaction.  If you want to build a garage in either area it is not a symbol of your work ethic or your ability to not be lazy, it is simply you wanting to spend your time in a game doing something others do not want to do.

Theres no point in arguing with him... He plays PVP and doesnt understand what it means to choose NOT to have to be contently on guard from people with no lives.  He chooses that play style we dont. End of discussion.

I work, married, have kids... and don't mind spending a little effort to protect my stuff while Devs do their job and monitor... what I don't want is them focusing all their time on an easily handled bug because of blatantly lazy kids like yourself.

Simple fact is the devs have no choice but to divide their time between PVE and PVP bugs. neither get 100% priority.  This bug was a game breaking bug in PVE. The Cart exploit they just fixed was a game breaking PVP exploit.   That one had NO effect on PVE servers. but you dont see PVE players Complaining that the devs are only focusing on PVP server fixes?

I'm tired of seeing all these threads... PVE kids are spamming the forums and they literally have half the issues pvp is facing.... and everyone knows the squeaky whine ass wheel always gets the grease.... so yeah... Stop crying about Alphas and stop crying about Overwieght grief... build a freaking garage and your problem is solved while the rest of us have to deal with the REAL issues.

You chose to play on a PVP server where there is NO protection from other players. We chose to play on PVE so we don’t have to worry what the next guy is going to do. You may have more things. But it’s all PVP there. Other than a player directly attacking g me. We loose ships and claims just like you even though we chose NOT to play pvp.

The overweighting issue is indeed a priority for our team and we definitely understand the frustration it's causing. We're working on a more delicate technical solution to resolve it, hopefully, we can get that in as soon as possible.

Thank you Appreciate the quick reply. Cant wait to begin to play again once it is fixed.

They could still overcrowd the ship, crew limit needs to be gone and transfered into weight per person.

This also true but alot harder to do.  As you need tribes of 10+ agreeed it needs to also be fixed. But the big thing is the overweight can be done with 1 person in a few hours.

  12. Good Afternoon @Jatheish,

I am taking this time to write you in hopes you read it. I have spent a lot of time on the discord helping people with atlas, so much so that I am ranked number 10 on discord.  So I hope this buys me at least 5 mins to read this message/post.

First off I do have to say that the 2 games you guy have put out are really awesome games. Up until this point have really enjoyed both very very much.

    Little bit of my background,

My brother and I now live on other sides of the country we play games together to stay connected. Ark and Atlas have been amazing for us as both fitted our playstyle and we love them both. We bought and played both Ark and Atlas, we were on servers from day 1.  In Ark between us we are pushing over 6,000 hours.

Heres where we talk about the problem.

Between my brother and I we are pushing 600 hours in Atlas.  As a 2 man tribe we have become a big trade selling animals across a lot of servers.  We build all 4 ships (in order) Sloop>Schooner>Brig>Gally.  As a two man team this was NOT easy. Took almost all of the 600 hours to get there.

Last night after I logged of and before I could log back in the next moring. Several of our ships were sunk on the NA-PVE server, 2 brigs, 1 sloop and 1 gally.  Who and Why are beyond the point. We don’t know there are several griefer tribe on the island/server we live on.

What I’m here to say is that this problem can be solved with one of 3 choice.  I will also say I’m not the first person that this has happened to and won’t be the last unless you take action.

    The options are very simple.

    1. Remove ship damage from overweight. Until a more permanent solution can be found.

As in ark, When a raft is over-weight it can not move, make this the normal for PVE servers.

    2. When a player reaches his max weight, He should NOT be able to keep walking. As in ark he should be stuck in one spot.

    3. When you pick up a body with 20,000 weight you should NOT be able to walk like your holding a 30lbs body only. Again this was corrected in ark.

Any one of these three corrects can solve this problem and eliminate the ability if players to grief PVE players.

I was hopeful that the coy "fixed exploit" patch note was for sinking through weight, but no dice on my test server, still super easy to do.  Looks like it's still the best way to build ships is to just sink other people's on PVE

Not sure when they dropped that patch but it happened to me on official between 12 and 0500am PST

  14. Seeing as the Devs never bothered to fix the exploits and in the 5 hours i was sleeping griefers were able to come in and sink all of my ships. ( 1gally, 2 brigs and 2 sloops). I'm out guys been fun but whats the point when your griefed by players and the game itself,  the server spawns alphas inside your taming pens, a rattlesnake spawns inside your house when your sleeping or someone sinks all your ships just cause they can.

Literally 291 hours of work gone cause someone decided they can only enjoy this game by ruining it for other PVE players.

So till major improvements are made no point in playing.

So does it reset to full each time or does it add a certain amonut of minutes depending on how long a random player contested the claim? I'm trying myself right now and only gotten to just under 5 hours but still no luck all day long. This will be a long night 😞

When somone contests your steal the time goes back up. but it goes up so fast 2 mins in consteing is enough to reset even a claim with only 10 mins on it.
