Screw you. You go back to ARK you pompous piece of crap. The only reason I can over to play this game was that it was extremely close to how ARK was played, minus the toxic "I must raid ever base" mentality and a new spice of the pirate life. Atlas was going awesome until this new PVP proposal. What a load of crap.

I didn't play much Ark to be honest and there is 0 need to flame me. The prior PVP was trash in this game or were you living under a rock and not playing because they killed the population faster than the incoming wipe made people not play. The changes are solid and will need some future adjustments I'm sure but the playstyle of griefing is over and the Ark like mentality of acquiring and holding land is a thing of the past

    There is offline raid protection.

It's called PVE. Don't turn this game into carebear. Recruit people from different timezones. Get btter defenses.

Its statements just like this that is the problem in this community, you aren't offering any valid suggestions and your only answer is to go play PVE . The carebear insult really grinds my gears because I know this is what is crippling this game. Your only answer is to recruit people from other timezones which in theory is the smart thing to do however this community suffers from the 123 syndrome. I cant count the number of individuals i've turned down simply because of the name 123 , how can you possibly know who these folks are or where they have been or what they have done . If there is one thing we have to offer anyone in a video game its our "word" based off our reputation that is attached to our "name" and its such a shame that this is the bottleneck simply over the "meta" that came to this game from Ark.

It's rather irrelevant. This whole idea of adding offline protection is against the spirit and nature of the game. It was a failure when tried in ARK it will be the same with Atlas. A broken idea is a broken idea no matter how you dress it up. It doesn't get any better.

The only irrelevant idea is the one swimming around in your head about the way things should be if you want me to be honest with you. I've read through this thread and seen many post about some of the mechanics of EvE Online and how they could do something similar in Atlas. Then I watch as the majority of you guys who believe this is Ark dogpile on who ever has a well founded idea found from their research of other successful MMO games. I've invested over 500 hours in this game on the official servers and not in a mega what ever you want to call it. Its a silly notion that this is a different game and the majority of you still use ark terminology to define it. I understand that the way you choose to define the "meta" is engrained into your brains from the countless hours and years most of you played Ark. I played it too for many thousands of hours and multiple years myself and I never could quite comprehend the "meta" that surrounded it other than who could exploit, mesh, ddos or inside the best and force people to quit simply because the "meta" has 0 social skills when it comes to living in an MMO. Since the launch of Atlas i've watched as racial wars broke out across the servers, reddit and followed by a few hackers spawning everything they could on  the few streamers who were trying to have some fun and give this title some of the attention it deserves. Now lets take a look 2 months down the road where this title went from 50k to around 2k in any given prime and that's pretty sad to see. I often find myself wondering if the majority of this community even understands that in order to have a healthy game you need an equal portion of both pvp and pve. You cannot hope to achieve either without the other and until you understand that this game will continue to decline over the coming months no matter the content being delivered. There needs to be a system that will control just how much land each of us holds as well as a system to protect our vested interest in this game. The offline meta that cursed Ark has no place in Atlas and I am sure the developers are working hard to achieve this so we can stop the slope before its too late. I hope to see the developers install an API system to protect those of us who play this game from 3rd party software that is currently being used to track our where abouts in the game. I also hope that they will do something much like EvE Online and gives us a vendor we can pay so we can find the last known location of the douche canoe who raided us while we were away. There needs to be many checks and balances for this game because currently its like the wild west giving some an unfair advantage by using the name 123 or coding a bot to track peoples locations based off of the steam network. The meta needs to change from the cloak and dagger horseshit because its literally killing the game that all of us here have grown to love and hate.

This would be very useful to have sooner rather than later.

Could add the ability to pull the company log out as JSON so discord bots can be created to warn users of things being destroyed.

Could be used to manage the company to check activity times and who has been logged and active.

EVE has one and it is one of the best features of the game is it used by so many third-party tools that help keep Clans running correctly.

I really hope that the devs will look into giving us these asap.  It would allow us so much flexibility in micromanaging our companies.  Not to mention making what we do with our characters during its lifetime. I would also like to suggest giving us the option of what we can share with who ever is asking for it much like eve.

I have sailed through 6 grid squares and on every island I am told to go away. I have tried about 20 different islands and all are being unfriendly. I feel I have to restart on a PvE server just too experience the game. I have no idea how they are going to resolve this, to stop new players from feeling like not playing due to this big issue.

Hopefully in time the community will understand there is a need for a change to themselves more than the devs need to be making swinging changes to try and resolve this issue. I've played thousands of hours in Ark and I always felt as though there was so much missing from the way "most" tribes were structured. I am hopeful that when the Devs overhaul the Company structure they will look to other MMO's and give us something more fitting than 5 roles to try and micro manage 500 folks with. I would love to see a more robust chat system ingame to enable us to be more social with newer players and give them a hand up instead of the finger so many of them get on the daily. Keep your head up dude and reach out through the forums and reddit to try and build some relationships.

I see comments like this quite often not just in this game but other games in various stages of development.  I just want to point out that a company releasing content does not preclude they are ignoring bugs.  Grapeshot is not just one hive mind that works on the game.  They are broken up into teams.  One teams job is to produce content, such as tattoo's in the freeport vendor or earlier this month commodities traded for gold at the vendor.  There job has nothing to do with bugs or exploits around ships being sunk.  All they do is produce content of a specific nature.  They will probably continue to do this regardless of what else is going on in the game.  A whole another team focuses on bugs and exploits and likely a different team conceptualizes ideas for balance and fixing some exploits.  Yes I know what some of you may be thinking, no it would be a terrible idea to re purpose people or teams to fix a bug.  Changing team members or re purposing teams is extremely counter productive to an groups initiative overall.  Stop complaining about new content like its a bad thing and distracts from bug fixes.  It doesn't.

TLDR:  Multiple Teams on in any game developer, They will always be creating content with one team while another team fixes issues.

I love you so much right now , no homo , I am glad to see this Community taken a proactive approach and explain things such as this to newer players.

I like the game concept so far but really the devs need to step up and actually do some long term planning.

Why is the long term planning up to the devs when this is a sandbox MMO. Your future is yours to make so get out there an build some relationships because you won't survive alone for long.

We could discuss that the group-centric nature of China leads to the chinese groups consolidating behind cheaters, unlike western countries, but the point remains. If you were to look at it in isolation, the majority of Chinese influence in these two games stems from a systemic and cultural acceptance of cheating, even if it is not universal.

Yeah and it seems like its always well they do so why don't we .................. because WC isn't doing anything. I'm seeing them ( WC ) do things myself and they have come a long way in my book. Now if we can just help them by taking a stand together so we can actually play this game without all the exploiting to get ahead because the "other" guy did.

You might have a different view of them. Coming from outside the Ark/Atlas community, but the dominate chinese and asian communities here are vastly different then the pictures you paint of them. Sure. I love many of my chinese/malaysian friends to death, and they me, but even they will not deny that cheating, in their culture, is prolific and accepted.

I've played with them in Ark as well myself in the past. You and I both know its not only just the Chinese that support cheaters is the point I'm trying to drive home. There have been many other cultures involved with many exploits and cheats through the years of WildCards games. I just wonder when the community will draw a line in the sand and take a stand against it

The problem is that, unlike most countries, China actively encourages and accepts cheating as a form of competition as long as it proves their national superiority. It's a thing.

I've really tried to stay out of this conversation on many platforms and today I am going to post just what I think. Seriously people how shallow are you to only say its one country's people who are actively cheating or abusing unintended mechanics. In my gaming history I've played with just about every country this world has to offer and all of them taught me something about their culture. None of it was abusing unintended mechanics or cheating in any way shape form or fashion. This is not the way to create a narrative to unite against a common foe in my book. I've lead many "Campaigns" in MMO video games in my past and never has it been racially driven because at the end of the day those of us who are "Adults" were taught better. This statement is bogus, racially driven and for the lot of you grow up.Find another way to build a "CAMPAIGN" against a common foe other than throwing one country under the bus. I have played with many people from China in my lifetime, learned a little mandarin in the process and created my own MOMO for their fleets when I have the time to fly with them.

At best its a spread sheet game at worst its well Atlas....

That was my point that it was the poster child for success.

    1 hour ago, rodarin said:

As for the other nonsense you posted it has zero to do with Atlas because none of it is in the game. Economy? Trading? Seriously? they just made it easier for people to gather stuff.

This post was about too many "Megas" and no "place" for the smaller Companies. A simple contract system to purchase boats would be an opportunity for smaller folks to make a decent buck and not just be another stone farmer. Lord knows that just capping one takes forever currently and not something I would want to do on a regular basis.

But Eve also has missions and 'quests' and hauling and mining and things people can do that doesnt require PvP to do. It also has 'safe' zones where people and groups can go and lick their wounds and regroup with not much fear of getting pushed out of the game altogether.

No what I'm asking for is more mechanics to safe guard new players so we don't have yet another Ark on our hands where seal clubbing is a norm. Eve too made a huge change after 15 years because player retention was at an all time low. I would love to see zones where players could rebound from a wipe to come play again. Atlas has I guess we could refer to it as a mission system. The power stones, which need a change , treasure maps, whale hunting and exploration are all time sinks to gain either XP and or Gold.

Go look at ARK and see what youre saying. The best chance Atlas has is the dev kit to let the modders do their magic and save yet another WIldcard disaster.

I don't know where you are going with this because Ark isn't an MMO in any way and Atlas is far different.

  12. 25 minutes ago, rodarin said:

Its what happens with every failing PvP game that comes along...they compare it to EvE. I guess because Eve has longevity. But Eve is surely not the poster child for anything. A lot of it is smoke and mirrors and what you DONT want happening in a game.

You're wrong on so many levels I could post a novel but instead ill just cut this short. Eve is the poster child for a sandbox MMO and what could eventually happen to Atlas. However because so many WildCard followers came from Ark with the coined terms such as Mega this or Alpha that. It really makes it difficult to show folks there is another Meta to structure your Companies or Alliances that are much more successful than throwing 500-1000 nerds in one channel and hope to control the chaos. This game requires you to develop some people skills and make friends instead of just smashing everyone in your way or expecting folks to just be your stone slave for a spot to live. Just take a look at how fast most of the streamer crews are unraveling currently because once again there is no structure to be an effective fighting force for some of them. Capping companies won't solve anything neither will capping Alliances because at the end of the day most of us are human and will work together for our survival. I hope to see this game have a vibrant economy where folks can build us things because that's what they enjoy doing on their own terms. There is plenty of room for smaller companies we just need some more tools ingame so we can be a lot more social.

  13. Interesting fact is that this game requires some travel to get resources and its nice to have to travel to other places to get the things you need. If you don't like folks foundation spamming then how come you just don't blow it up instead of wanting all these swinging changes.

  14. Hello Mates,

I've spent the last 8 years playing EvE Online and dabbling in Ark along the way because I thought playing with dinos would be a hoot. Then along came atlas and the ability to move across a multitude of servers with hundreds of players to conquer lands. I have set my sights on this game because I felt like it took two of my favorite games and meshed them together. I really like this game and I see that we had been given a lighthouse which  is nothing more than a resource blocker in its current state with a ton of HP. Could the devs make it where we could use it like a FOB instead. I know I keep bringing up that I played EvE and drawing a comparison to it but hear me out.

    https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/949596687986882179/D6AF33053793B24A3D524D716FF025090A9A04F6/

This is one of the largest structures that an Alliance can deploy as a forward staging point to assault or defend from with loads of HP. What if we could use the lighthouses just like this instead of tossing down some Ark-like structures that even the smallest cannon can smash easily. I mean no disrespect to Ark players because I did love that game and some of the community but I would love to see this game take a different approach than what we were given in Ark.
