  1. I got caught in the open during the server shut down and hunkered down next to someone's house. Could not connect to the server for the first hour following the v9 upgrade, so I resigned my character's fate as "gonna die" and went to bed.

Today I start up, expecting to be at my raft's bed, but instead find myself boxed in a room with windows built by "The Sharkfin Buccaneers". Seems that someone was able to make a 1x1 room under my sleeping body and I cannot leave.

Fortunately there is a bunny in here, so I can eat poop and die, which was going to be my fate anyway. But I am surprised you can build under sleeping bodies. But if you could not, that would be griefing on my part, perhaps. Sharkfin would not be able to expand his house with my sleeping body there.

What's your call on how devs might have handled this.

i want to know how do u create iron, copper etc.? all im getting is 'metal' and not being able to craft ingots

This sounds like you are doing it wrong.

To create ingots, you first collect as much of one kind as you can, let's say "Silver" since that's what they have in my region. Then build a forge. Then put wood in it and light it. AND THEN select one of the recipes for that building to make ingots. Unlike ARK, the ingots don't form automatically. And note, the ingots have raw material requirements. The silver ingots also need gems.

But all of the raw metal comes in some special type, like "Silver" or "Cobalt". The only item called "metal" that you are going to find is from salvaging ships or demolishing building components that needed metal in their construction. Because you don't get the original special kind of metal when you salvage.

  3. Yes, there seems to be a bug in that a Fence Post says it is "obstructed" while it it is snapping to the corner of the gate.

But there is an easy out.

It is FAR more resource conservative to just make your wall out of gates overlapping gates. That's four stories high. The wall cost to build three foundations long and four high is about eight times the cost of the gateway and gate.

  4. Is your math right?

0.6% per turnip, yet only 1.5% per bola? That's not a multiple of either 0.4 or 0.6

With 0.4%, and only managing 6 feeds per bola during the 2 minute binding period, that should be 2.4%. Yeah, that's still 42 bolas. But they are fixing it. And you are taming a "high level" rhino, since most islands have 1-30 wild levels for their critters.

And you didn't even hit the hard scenario: hitting a crow with a bola. I spent 15 bolas and never got a single hit on my damn crow target.

I'd have thought this would be a major priority in the latest patch, but i don't see it AT ALL.

Did you read the recent update? The first fix, on Monday, is to increase the carry weight of boats by 40%.

Their sort of stuck. You don't want PVE griefing, but you don't want players exploiting their ships to carry unlimited passengers and cargo, just because those people aren't in your company. I trust that as we enter week 3 and 4, a solution will eventually present itself.

  6. The whole definition of a Lawless zone is that you cannot claim.

It's bump to being a starting territory was a compromise because the 15 starting zones couldn't handle the entire population at the start of the game. I'm not surprised to see this revert back to how it was on day one of the game.

I have never left the starter Lawless zone I've been playing in, and am not really worried by the change since I have 2 rafts and a sloop, with a schooner on the way. I like taming and taming doesn't need to travel the map as long as you can trade for the needed special foods.

  7. This probably isn't a top evel issue to them because a fix would likely need a server wipe and reset of the game. They want to test other elements of their economy before they do that.

And they can't really come out and say that. People will stop playing until the wipe happens, ruining the ability to test.

Wont solve anything, if People can Claim, they will, just to harass others.

The one and only fix will be a Claim Cap

    "Only fix"?

    Not very imaginative.

How about a "capital claim", where your claim flags in that region have a one day, others outside of that region have fast decay?

How about the need to repair flags?

How about no decay, but a 24 hour challenge window where the current owner needs to remove the challenge flag to hold their claim? And no bed fast travel...

How about anything where holding flags itsrlf is work. So you just make work for yourself by placing more flags?

There are lots of systems. They have pluses and minuses. Your suggestion has the benefit of simplicity, but it isn't the only fix.

Note, I have some support for a claim cap. But it isn't the ONLY option. I'd actually like a three flag per player cap one the first six days after a server wipe, unlimited after that. It's the land rush that is the problem, I feel. Too much advantage for first to reach a new island. But once the core territories are established, I feel that growth and economic/territory conflict are a good thing.

  9. Yes, sugars are sap.

Also, Wheatgrass is a plant in Eastern Temperate that gives Wheat. And the main wood is called "softwood", not pine or poplar. You can also, rarely, get "Darkwood" from bamboo gathering. Technically it is "Wild Onion", not onion.

And you get Potatoes by digging.

This game was nowhere near ready for a PAID release, not even into Early Access.

This is WAY better to play than the launch of other EA survival games, like Subsistence.

And you accuse them of ignoring issues you have reported. Until three weeks have gone by, I feel it is premature to describe a report that hasn't been fixed as "ignored" .

Also, you aren't messaging "devs" in Twitter. You're messaging GS communications.

EA is paid beta test. My years at Nintendo and Xbox says they've landed square in that description.

And if they are ignoring you, what does posting hate here accomplish?
