My PVE experience

Me and my fellow pirate started in A5 EU PVE server had to struggle to survive in a place with random level 237 alpha wolves and horses that one hit kill you . Built a little base with a cooking pot and a bed . Died multiple times and then was told couldnt spawn at the bed because it was not on claimed land , tried to claim land only to be told that you cant claim land in a lawless server . Next logical thought was lets get out of here then .... right ? Easier said than done when you have to collect the mats for building a tiny shipyard ........ shipyard built, now for a raft !

Go to find NPC for raft blueprint in the town at the big cove , wait whats this no NPC's at this town so cant buy the blueprint . Ok so respect points into shipbuilding , built the raft , sail around abit , really happy with ourselves , logged out . Logged in to find i was dead , raft is gone and no log to say how that happened , respawn at a different island not the one with the boat yard we built , thought oh well we will try to make it from here . There was no pure iron rock to hit here so had to spend hours smashing rocks to get the metal to build a bigger shipyard and then more mats for a sloop , then found out we needed a loom to build the sails for the sloop . 

Finished the sloop sail back to first island to mine iron , get all the iron we needed . Ship was at half the weight limit at this point so we decided to sail south see what was in A6 .

Get to A6 island after nearly an hour because the wind was not very strong , or blowing in the right direction . A6 is a freeport server so you cant earn any XP because we are already level 16 . Go into the freeport kill an alpha elephant get prime meat for days . Decide to log out for the night after 12 hours straight of death and respawning .

Wake up this morning to find the ship is sunk no log of why again , ship was no where near over weight and anchor was dropped in shallow water , cant respawn anywhere near to where it is because beds dont work on any island and could not put one on the free port because people build one box or foundation everywhere so you cant build anything . 

So I have questions :

How can I vist other islands when my ship gets sunk , and I cant spawn on a bed anywhere apart from in the middle of nowhere in the sea . 

Where can you actually claim land because it tells me , cant in lawless and you cant in freeport , am I missing something here ?

Am I doing something wrong with the ship when we are logging out ? Theres only 2 of us so building a sloop is a big time sink and doing that over and over will make me quit this game !

Is anyone else having these sort of problems ? Iam watching streamers and their shit is fine the day after .

Yes i know its early access , I just want to know if its something iam doing wrong or the game is fucking us over at the minute ?

You can't claim land in lawless zones or freeports, since those are areas where people start, there are 4 lawless zones around every freeport, covering all the sides of the freeport tile.  If you go outside of those zones, you can claim or more likely try to contest land that's already been claimed.  As for your ship disappearing, idk about that, it's never happened to me.  Other than when ships of the damned spawned around and blew up multiple sloops in my company.  Hope this helped.

Thanks the problem is only bed we can spawn on is on a boat but every time we log out , the ship gets destroyed and we cant even get a spawn back on the island we built the ship yard on because it randomly spawns us on one of the other 2 islands in the area . Its very annoying , ive been killing myself over and over for the last 2 hours trying to get there ! Iam not sure if this is fun tbh lol

So what probably happened was a company piled on your ship to make it overweight and sunk it. I have screen shots of a company doing it to me and admitting that's what they do but devs won't do anything to fix it.

 

Good luck but it's looking like it's just gonna be hours and hours of work just for someone to come shit on everything you worked for in the PvE environment.

i dint even know there was more areas other than lawless or freeport lol . Hope thats the issue then cause iam getting tired of making new ships

The reality is exactly what you are experiencing.  In games like this massive companies destroy everything in their path.  For those of us who like the 2-4 player companies that cannot live online we stand no chance even in the PVE environment.  Also this game is so out of balance that it simply isnt making sense for me to play at this point.  I cannot find a single piece of unclaimed land and I have spent hours upon hours on my raft looking.  It's become a sit on your raft and spawn, die 100 times to find an island that is already occupied simulator for me.  It lacks fun.  Only if there were an offline mode like Ark....

We claimed land, its not that hard just find a spot that is open or contest it until you take over or they show up.  Park your ships out to sea, with the ladders up and no open boxes on it to help prevent companies from sinking it, and to make sure you can easily spawn there.  The ghost ship issue I have nothing sorry.
