Increase timers for Ally's on land claims.

Recommended Posts

I hope this does get attention, so I'll give a bit of some background on myself what I do with my company. (And it will be a semi-long post)
We are Incompetence United - We play on NA PVE. We run a trading town that gets ton of attention, and it's an amazing experience in this game! We rent out land for a tiny 10% tax and that's it. We travel the world of Atlas making new friends/allies and we always have a place for travelers to call home for the evening, subsequently when we sail around, they offer the same niceties. That's where this post will be coming from.

It's been mentioned time and time again, that the Devs want people to do like, I do. I've convinced many a person to keep playing Atlas by providing them not only a place to build but to let them feel like it's their own home, and helping them brings them back to the game and helps them keep wanting to play. I won't claim that it's all because of me, it's because this game is lovely, but with everyone complaining about the land I've figured a solution.
I have a tiny island (and I do mean tiny, running for 4 seconds nearly puts you on the other side of this tiny stretch of land) and I've made sure everyone not only has their own section so they don't feel cramped, but I also make sure I'm available if they ever need something from me be it in-game or just general questions to be answered. (That's if I'm not already answering 700 questions in Discord.)
I've set up groups for those who were Allied before to hang out in one section so they can keep hanging out with their friends.
I've set up an area within my town for people who want to add to the cityscape and feel some RP sense.
I've set up docks to let everyone park their ships if they so wish on my towns side of the Island.
I've made sure to accommodate everyone.

That being said there's a MAJOR flaw with doing this. The timer.
For those who are unaware (and even the devs if it wasn't meant to work like this) the timer itself is less than that of Lawless. In Lawless you have a 4 day timer, with some structures being a 15 day timer. The issue is that when you build in an Ally's land it's strictly a 4 day timer. I have a couple houses on my land that for me read "demolish allowed" and I'm worried if someone else see's it, they will demo the houses. The houses themselves get used, and that's probably the biggest out of the issues.

Example:
I have a person who built near my town to add to the housing aesthetic, and he logs in daily. He got sick for a few days, and I warned him the timer was probably going to get low soon, so asked him to log in. And he did! But while he's logging in and standing right in front of his house, the timer keeps counting down.
Then I see it "Demolish Allowed"...
He can't see anything, for him his screen is perfectly fine as if he owns the land, no timer, no count down, no "Demolish Allowed".

Getting back on track, as this isn't the bug report forum, I feel if you want people to really offer their land like I do and not get griefed (by changing it to allow anyone to build because people are toxic in this game right now and can't be trusted) then you need to Up the timer or delay the decay timer to kick in after so many days offline instead of as soon as they log out.
I wont claim to know how easy that is to do, or if even possible for ally builds; but it really does need to be set either higher or edited for a "you were offline for 3 days, the 4 day timer starts now" kind of thing.

In case there's a worry of issues, the easiest solution is if someone is doing something unsavory, they can just be removed from the alliance, to trigger the 3 day decay timer to allow them to move before the land owner takes over and demo's the buildings.

Thank you for your time, and Feel free to ask for any sort of clarification if need be.

Does the timer show demolish allowed for all players, or just the landlord company?

If its just the landlord, then it shouldn't be too much of an issue, because if they were the kind of people who would demolish, they can just set it to company only and screw the tenant over anyway.  If it is anyone able to, that would be the biggest issue.

It shows it for everyone, we kicked one of our members to test it. So if someone decides to be creepin' lol they'd notice the "Demolish Allowed"
I've set up "banking" area's though for those if they run into an issue where they can't log in, I can hold their stuff so it doesn't get demo'd if someone happens to notice.
