Okay, thats it. I deleted the savefiles and the server is running. I can play on it.... thanks 🙂

The last problem is: if i restart the server it crashed again like the post bevor.... i have to delete the savegames again and the server running, so i have to restart my pathfinder on every server restart... ideas for that problem ?

He mean the Save Folder. I delete the folders : SavedArks and the folder A1 in ShooterGame/Saved/ , witch you select in your start string, after that is start the server with the same string an it works

for so far i now its a bug on linux system i dont now how to fix 😞  for now its normal only when you close te server hard

By "world record" you mean the AltSaveDirectory ? (ShooterGame/Saved/A1 in my case)

Delete the save files. leave the config the way it is.

The Admin I was responding to doesn't have an AltSave defined. That isn't going to work right. Each grid tile needs it's own save directory.

Indeed... For a single region server (1x1) it can be usable. But not for grids...

Personnaly I stop trying to make it work until the next server update.

Spent today trying to get this running, no luck.

Ubuntu 14.04.5

Steamcmd installed correctly, Atlas installed correctly.

Have attempted a 1x1 and 2x2 grid.

Have used a remote redis instance as defined in ServerGrid.ServerOnly.json

Service boots with:

atlas@ip-10-0-1-243:~/ShooterGame/Binaries/Linux$ ./ShooterGameServer Ocean -GridConfig=/home/atlas/ShooterGame/ServerGrid.json
Using binned.
4.5.1-0+UE4 7038 3077 408 10
[S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; SteamAPI_IsSteamRunning() failed.
Setting breakpad minidump AppID = 834910

It starts the services, uses a lot of cpu & memory and seems to stall here.

It appears to ignore the ServerGrid.json configuration, the only port that becomes open is 'port 30000' (which I have not requested anywhere)

I have also attempted defining the port in the launch command, this is also ignored.

I can only get as far as a listening service open on port 30000 which I cannot connect to.

Server does not become listed in Atlas directory.

So the linux server is unusable for now.

We are waiting for an urgent update from the devs.

Good luck @Grapeshot !

@nachopantsIt does not stall, it works, it just stops echoing the console.

The Signal 11 error is due to starting your server from an exisiting savefile

For now you have to delete your savefiles before you start the server (EVERY TIME!!!)

Yes yes... the linux server works !

BUT there are two insane conditions :

  1. You must wipe it at every restart (delete the Saved folder before launch)
  2. Works only in 1x1 grid mode (one server)

And all the configs you made previously (ServerGrid.json) are not taken in account !

So let's wait and see... 😉

I currently a linux server with 2x2 which works perfectly fine.

(4 servers same box just to clarify)

(Still the whole needing to wipe saves if I need to shutdown / restart the servers ofc) but it does work.

Signal 11 can be also sent if the redis server is not running.

I also had the case where the ServerGrid was not here.

But effectively, Linux Server are not working for now for an unknown reason. We need a fix asap.

We also need a Full tutorial.

I may make one when the server will works fine.

PS : someone has a full tuto or documentation for the server grid editor on GitHub? It is not very intuitive

Oh ! Could you explain to us how you did it work without the json ?

Yeah, can you explain to us what did you do? For most of us, the server starts but never show to atlas server list nor respond to rcon

So why it this still a thing of linux @Rob ?  Having to wipe the servers and restart is pointless.  How can people play under these conditions?

If I understood well, this problem occurs only on a hard crash. What happens if you shutdown the server via the admin commands?

It is not hte best, but you will be able to backup.

It remember the begining of ark when linux server had huge memory leaks

The post I made that you quoted and changed your startup to was meant specifically for the person I quoted. I modified his startup line to include the correct map. Because he hadn't specified Ocean his server was trying to start the test map.

I suppose you're talking about me. I tried many command lines, my usual one was :

./ShooterGameServer Ocean?ServerX=0?ServerY=0?AltSaveDirectoryName=A1?MaxPlayers=40?ReservedPlayerSlots=3?QueryPort=10000?Port=16000?SeamlessIP=a.b.c.d -GridConfig=../../ServerGrid.json -log -server -NoBattlEye

But this was not working neither...

Let's see if it works after the new package update I just downloaded....

yeah, I also remember them putting in effort to fix linux ark servers and not ignoring them for days, when can we start saying weeks?  tomorrow or the next day I think 🙂
