2x2 map on server, can only access 1 square?!

So I went sailing on the 2x2 map my wife and I got to play together, and...well...

We can only access one square. Wtf? Shouldn't we be able to access all 4 grid squares on a fookin 2x2?

Sounds like your On a private server . Issue would be with that provider

I am, I'm using Gportal. Has anyone else had an issue like that? Am I misunderstanding map size? A 2x2 should have 4 grids playable, yes? Not just one grid playable and the wall of doom blocking the other 3?
