Taming birds

i have tamed most of the land animals but i can't seem to get the birds.  i built a taming pen for them but i ended up giving up on my design.  any one have any luck or suggestions on how to tame the birds?

what size was your cube?  i did a 2x1 how did you tame it with the fast health regain?  did you have 2 people in the cube?
