Think this is a feature from ARK, it has the same type of coordinates. I agree it's not really long. and lat. It's more of "Y" & "X" axis coordinates.

But i agree, it's a long time to wait to be able to claim a players land in PvE

The green stuff is your bearing that you can set by pressing middle mouse button when looking at the compass. 

The red stuff.. don't know
