  1. This, makes absolutely no sense to not rollback.  This wasn't an isolated incident, it doesn't matter if it was Atlas or Steam issue.. it is a game BREAKING issue.

Companies were raiding entire grids uncontested while THOUSANDS of people couldn't login to the game from around the world.

Complete joke that it wasn't rolled back already.

  2. Should probably have a variety of them later on.  Just like we have different classes of ships, have sloops with damned with bows/swords/guns at zones near freeports.  Then a bit further have ones that are more like schooners with some cannons.  Have the big ones and/or more alphas at power stone areas.  Etc.

  3. I think the new 'inactive 3 day timer' doesn't work at all or at least not as intended.

I had a land claim flag at a spot I've been to twice since the new patch and it was stolen today.  Didn't like the island was going to spawn back at my ship there and unclaim it anyways but when I saw the land claim is being contested pop up (while I was online) I just let it go through, and it may have not even taken more then 10 minutes for it to be stolen from when the notification of contested showed up.

I mean, if players are claiming eveything they come across and then not using it, contest it.

My tribe managed to get a nice little spot this way. You dont need to take more than you need but if people actually made use of the contesting system, half of these complaints wouldn't be an issue.

Not using it and being active are two different things though.. group drops 30 claim flags and fully owns an island.  You can't take it because they're active and continue to play, but they are in no way using that land.

Seen this plenty of times so far.  One tiny little shit shack of a base, a shipyard, and a couple ships.  Rest of island is bare.  They don't even have to go past a flag or two to farm because it'll respawn closer to them before they get far enough.

Try to claim it?  4 of them start doing the rounds to contest any challenge.   Now how about that new change of 3 days inactivity required.. no chance getting any of "their" land.

    This is two fixes.

    Do you really need both?

If the problem is that the land rush at the start of the server left hundreds of unused land claims, won't that be fixing itself in just another day or two when those claims expire? Yes, there is a lesson for Grapeshot to learn from that land rush we all suffered, changing the system for the first few days of a server's fresh state. But I don't think that the land claim system is really that broken when a three day expire timer is going to wipe those same hundreds of claims.

New change only helps fix the inactive old claims, and most will probably be taken by their active neighbors before anyone new has a chance.  Does nothing to fix the dozens of tribes that have completely littered grids with claim flags so that they can have their own private server in official.

  5. Yeah it's ridiculous at the moment.  Absolutely no reason to have more then 1 claim per person in a PvE server.  I don't think claims should even work as they do in PvE.  One area where it should just work similar to Ark possibly, where you can't build near someone else.

You spend hours getting to the point where you can leave freeports, get past the lawless freeports where you can't claim (understandably) but you can't even spawn on your beds you build in them because you for some reason can't spawn in a bed if you don't own the land.  Go further and get to real lawless zones, and anywhere you go islands are littered with claim flags.

I don't care about owning land, I want to be able to build somewhere where nothing is even built (because people are just spamming claim flags in PVE and not even using a tiny fraction of their land) so I can have any resemblance of a house/base so I can stop somewhere and progress.  But you can't build a base (or literally a foundation and a bed) after exploring because you'll spend 10h searching islands that are littered with flags, can't respawn at your stuff in lawless freeports, and can't progress at all at a freeport.  Last is understandable since you're meant to leave, but there's basically nothing to leave to.

    Simple solution..

    1. PVE server- Player claims can not overide an existing land claim.

    2. ONE land claim per PERSON PER SEVER. Companies get 1 per person in the comp. Person leaves that is no longer apart of that companies land, bigger area.

3, Claim Areas that have NOT had an owner/company member inside them in 7 days get removed .  Buildings decay as normal for being in a no claim area.

100% for #2.. there's no reason why anyone should have more then 1 claim.  Just means people spamming them everywhere.

Capped a level 8, thats concerning. The price comment is concerning too.

i don't know if we missed something and are able to change that, but that does seem like an oversight by Grapeshot as well I'd think.  Freeports in private servers shouldn't count like freeports in officials.  You're basically paying for a grid you can't fully use, unless if you are able to turn it off as a freeport so it doesn't limit you to level 8.

  8. We have the 1 server option with 10 players on nitrado, it's literally just 1 grid it seems.  Need to upgrade to 4 servers (so like $61 CDN) for 4 grids.

We're trying to figure out how to make the map we have into a non-freeport if that's possible.   Since we only have the 1 grid right now and it's a freeport our entire server is literally just a freeport and we're capped at level 8 lol.

Either we don't know what we're doing or there's a serious issues with that way this is setup.

I don't even get the prices, Ark servers are like $15 for 70 people with a map that's fully covered by land/mountains/forests/etc, these grids are apparently the same size as Ark so sure 1 server = 1 grid, but then why is it only 10 people instead of 70 for the same price?  And then the devs were saying how it'll be easy to run these because it's mostly water, hence how they're able to get so many people.
