How much Clusters / servers do I really need?

How many servers do I actually need to fully play the game / to have fun and enjoy.

I now have rented 4 servers to play. Is that enough? We are 6 people and just want to have the feeling of an very big map.

You can make a custom map of a 2x2.

 

Also, you could consider rotating one of the grids. Not sure how easy this will be.
