So, I want to preface this with I've stolen/claimed land before, but I'm confused this time around. There's a tribe on my map who've been inactive for a while, so i opted to try and get their land. As a result it worked! They had a house inside the land and half of it claimed to me. The other half however was claimed by another guy as he had done the same thing just a bit further out and so our lines were split. Well before he left to his other island he said we could take his land. He told us to wait the 3 days for the timer to be over that way the rest of the house would belong to us once we "stole" it from him so that way we could make use of the house. *However* I followed his instructions, and nothing changed. The first time i took land from someone they had a single chest on their plot, and once successfully stolen, that chest became mine. The second time was with the house, and that became mine (halfway) The third time, I'm stuck with it still belonging to the person who owned it with no count down timer, no decay notice, and no change to belong to us. I'm unsure if this is a bug from the new patch (the previous claims were days ago), or if this is some new change. Have any of you run into the same issue?
So I wont say I even slightly understand how this works. Can someone help explain it? From what I've been picking up; You die at age 100? Are somehow reborn as a baby? How do you restart as a child? Do you play as a toddler? Does it skip all that and just thrust you to age 20? If so what's the point? Is pregnancy even a thing, like random people just sexing it up to reset their characters? If so how are males reborn? What if you wait too long to be reborn, do you just lose your character? If so how do we get readded to companies and will all our stuff be lost due to character ID changing? I know we have the chance to attempt to find the FOY, but let's be honest theres a good portion of people who dont like to travel too far so I'm ignoring that mechanic for now. I know it's a lot to ask, I'm sure no one knows for sure yet. But what are your guys' gathering on it?
There are multiple questions from my company regarding this topic. What we know is that you should only be able to claim land if the owner is not online within 3 days. After that you claim it, 30 min. pass, then his claim disappears and 10 min. later it is your claim. What does "online" mean? if I login outside of my claims I´m online, are they still protected? I assume you have to be in your claims within the last 3 days, but is just walking through them enough to reset the 3d timer or do you have to do any actions like building something etc.? You sadly can´t check the timer yourself. So now, I had the following case. My neighbour was very annoying and stressful for all others on the island. We went there and checked his claim and while he was within his base (and his claim) we could set up a flag to contest it (no 3d rule seemed to apply here). The timer was not running as long as he was within his claim. He then proceeded to leave with his raft and the second he left his claim the 30 min. timer started and my flag declaimed his land. 40 min. later we owned everything. He then came back and set his flag and tried to claim everything back which worked as well. We lost our flag but as long as we stood in his claim it wouldn´t finish. The buildings were still ours and would decay in 1h 20 min. I don´t get it. Why did it instantly started after he left? and also why was he able to claim it back from us? When we run around and check for claims we often see -XXXX seconds until claim is available. all timer are different despite being from the same company. So how do the timer reset? Do I need to do something in the claim to "reset" it back to 3d? Any help is highly appreciated especially since most company members fear that we lose our land to some strangers just claiming it and thus all we worked for etc.
