I just made a raft and sailed out in hopes to find a place of settlement, instead I find every island spammed with flags and there is no point to contest because there are like almost 100 flags everywhere even claiming the ocean. This is insane, well I guess this is what happens when you have 40,000 people on a server. For new sailors out there we cant find any place to stay and there are no open islands. And what is the point to contest land when they have their structures and beds there. They will just claim it back. I hope something gets done about this like the limited number of flags you can place. Also resources aren't respawning. I spent 9 hours looking for a place to live to no avail, overall im just disappointed.
  2. While I appreciate the efforts of the team to develop a solution for land claiming on PVE, this system is a mess. Within seconds of completing my starter building on an island claimed by our company, a new player spawns and builds almost right up against our walls. Yes, we were able to destroy his building, but what if we had been offline when he built? We work, and some of us cannot get on for a day when working. I was unable to get on until Tuesday night, having worked for 48 hours. The current system encourages trolling and foundation/pillar/building spam. If nothing else, an option on the flag for "No building except allies" or even "No building except company" would be nice, with the company understanding that all upkeep is their responsibility. This would allow folks to land and collect resources, but not troll by pillar/foundation spam, and build right on top of other players. Even a HUGE radius of no-build next to enemy structures would be nice. I dare say we return to the old flag system for PVE, so that players can stake out claims, build in peace, and have the beautiful views we love on PVE, without being trolled or spammed. There are going to be shipyards on top of each other, clogging the waters, building everywhere destroying resource spawns and the beauty of the landscape. Please, please reconsider this land claim solution?
  3. Has anybody experienced a bug in Blackwood where no land is rendering?
  4. My company was really happy for the razing, but we didn't get to do it since they took it away. We have an epic amount of litter on our island and now we are stuck with it. There needs to be a way to remove stuff off islands especially as land owners. We pay for the island, we own the island, but yet we cannot do what we want to do nor build what we want where we want because previous owners or freeloaders just clutter it with garbage.
  5. I really hope they do major reworks on their plans for pve, but if we must deal with the changes, I have a suggestion on a tweak on it. Patch notes from what it sounds like: Decay will happen on all floors, walls, ceilings, chests(?), crafting stations 24/7. As they take damage, you can put resources into a repair structure which automatically repairs all your structures over time. (within an area?) This is similar to how NPCs repair boats when idol and parked. This is implemented to try and free up inactive land so new players can find places to build. Sounds cool right? Potential issues: Foundation spam everywhere. Grapeshot thoughts for this to work: Upkeep costs means no infinite pillars. Reasons I don't think that will work: Currently those foundations go byebye when the owners don't reset the timers, aka walk near them every so often. There is already SOME sort of upkeep. It might not require farming but people aren't just placing down pillars to leave and forget about them. They want those foundations to be there. So they'll upkeep. If that upkeep is 5% of the mats to build it everyday, that's like... up to under 100 thatch, wood, fiber per week on every foundation. But those with even a tiny thatch house in a small plot of land will have at least 15x the upkeep. Why not just increase upkeep costs? It penalizes those who are legitimately trying to make any sort of build. A player can block off a large portion of land with 20 foundations spread apart. And only pay MUCH LESS upkeep to keep that there than say a person with a 4x5 (TINY) house with walls and a roof, plus chests, crafting stations and all else. How much can they really increase upkeep costs before it's unfeasible for even a small company house? They surely cannot increase it enough to keep trolls or land ransomers from blocking the surrounding area building rights. We'll all be living in our boats soon. High upkeep costs will also sway people away from making MAGNIFICENT builds. And that will be very sad to see go away. Everything will become just tiny efficient, bare min, houses and/or boat docks. Except, of course, main bases of large companies. SUGGESTION: Foundations create a claim of sorts. And the upkeep scales to the area of land (or % of land in the server) you have blocked by your buildings INSTEAD upkeep on every wall, ceiling, floor, roof, crafting station, chest, boat dock, etc. If the upkeep is based on area taken up on the map, then people will be more inclined to not spread out, so more land will be available. But they are also not penalized on upkeep in an attempt to keep foundation spam down, instead the foundation spammers will take the penalty. I've never done video game work but I feel like that might be hell to implement. So another lesser-effective suggestion but likely easier: Only foundations that block building have upkeep costs. So builders won't be paying upkeep on every single piece of the house. And they will not have to pay crazy significantly more upkeep than the foundation spammers. Then maybe you can raise upkeep prices a solid amount to weed out some foundation spammers. I'd really love people to still make amazing builds to explore. Thank you for reading.

  10. We are a small company of friendly finnish players looking for a place to build our permanent base on. We currently have a "temporary" base on lawless, but a flag claim area would be much more comfortable to have. This could also include a mutual aid agreement or an alliance with the seller or other companies in the same region, but not a necessity. So we are looking to buy a flag claim. It would have to have access to sea, room enough for a large shipyard and some room to build a home for ourselves and our furry friends. Basic resources are preferred too.   13. Fairytail is going to have a neutral Zone in D11 Miltown Enclave. We are Building a Town with everything a Town needs and want ppl that would like to Build pretty instead of dumb Gate spamming. The Island itself provides: - 2 Different kinds of wood -Fiber -Gems and crystals - Full iron nodes -2 kinds of thatch - Cows, Chicken, Sheep, Horses, Lions, Wolves,Crows and seagulls You will have enough space to build your own little Town aswell as some spots on the coast to build shipyards and such. Furthermore we got alot of trading partners atm which are delivering differnt kinds of Ressources for the ones we got on our Island,so u might aswell join the trading. We are also going to place some NPC crew with Turrets in some kind of places to keep the Townsfolk save and sound. An Animal market is already there where u can purchase animals or order them, incase u dont want to tame them yourselfs. Other than that,we hope some solo players or small companies will join and make it a pretty island with lots of trading.

  15. Before you freak out, read the whole idea. First, make all claim flags require a resource upkeep. Second, make that upkeep exponential based on the number of claim flags a company holds. (First flag is 50 wood and 50 fiber per week. By the fifth flag ALL flags require 200 wood, 200 fiber, 200 stone, and 200 berries from the biome type it is planted in per week. By the twentieth flag ALL flags require 1000 wood, 1000 fiber, 1000 stone, 300 metal, 500 berries of biome type, and 200 berries of each of the OTHER biome types per week. Change the flag models to increasingly extravagant structures as higher tier is reached. Maybe every five flags. Exact numbers will be need to be balanced.) Third, make all structures and anchored ships within the claim zone invulnerable so long as upkeep is being met. If upkeep is not met, fast decay times like lawless zones set in. (A pick lock feature to allow some raiding perhaps? Make characters unable to pick locks within 5 meters of a sleeping character?) Fourth, an opposing group's counter claim is a destroyable structure that will continue claiming regardless of ANY nearby players until it is destroyed. Make it require resources to build and make the claim timer much longer. Ships and structures lose invulnerability when the owner clan damages the counter claim structure. (This will need balancing to find best values. Like 500 wood, 500 stone, 200 hides, 120 cooked meat, and a four hour timer. It's a siege after all.) Please respond with refinements that would help balance or avoid exploits. I can't think of everything. Perhaps restricting counter claims to particular days of the week? Like odd numbered grid squares Thursdays and Saturdays, even numbers on Fridays and Sundays, Mondays through Wednesdays only areas that have failed upkeep can be counter claimed. I would prefer counter claims anywhere, anytime, but tiny groups might not agree.
  16. I've seen this suggested before, and it really badly needs to be fixed, for both PVP and PVE. Right now if you look at the live map of the top 10 companies it's not about how big of a company they have, but about how many land claim flags they have spammed across the whole game world. You see a huge cluster around two or three islands than you see all these random flag's spammed everywhere out at sea all over in nearly every grid. That and the fact that even solo players can spam flag's all over and can claim huge chunks of land for themselves just add's to the issue of there not being enough land for everyone. Yes I get that you can steal land from players, yes that they made it so the more flags you have the smaller your timer, but the method of it is annoying and time-consuming. Like for pve needing to sit there for 4 hours to contest a flag, and if any person unrelated pass's by the time gets reset. Plus who has time to contest ALL THE WATER CLAIM SPAM? The game as it stands isn't about pirating, it's about how much land you can own, and it's forcing more and more people to settle in lawless as that's all we have left at this point, that and many don't want to see all their hard work ripped out from under them just because they leave and go sailing, and with it taking hours to get to somewhere your land can be ripped away before you can make it back. This ruins the game for those in smaller companies or those who like the solo challenge. Most my time in ARK PVP was solo, and I enjoyed it. in Atlas? Not so much. Also we shouldn't be forced to join big companies to enjoy the game we bought. If we want to just play with a group of friends we should be allowed to, and not be forced to join a bigger company just to make any headway in the game. My suggestion is simple: Limit the land claim to 1-3 per player, along with 1 water claim. If you are in a company, Limit the land/water claim to 1 extra per X amount of recruited players, let's say 5 for a starting example. So a company of 5 would still have the extra1 land and extra 1 water claim, if they get a 6th member, that boosts them to 2 land and 2 water capping at 10 members. They get an 11th member, they now have 3 land and 3 water. If you join in with a company, any land/water claim you have is removed after 6 hours. This to counter people abusing the system by starting solo than joining up once they claim land, and it gives those who join a company a safety timer to get their stuff moved before their flag poofs (because resources are heavy and it can take several trips). You can also limit how many allies you can have to avoid people just running everything solo with everyone just set as allies. This will encourage companies that truly want to get big to recruit more players and own a land claim size that they can reasonably support with their player numbers. Let the top 10 TRULY be the top 10 by their player count, and not by how many claims they can spam across the whole world. This will also allow smaller companies and those who like playing solo for the challenge a chance to own and control land that is reasonable to their size. It will also change the focus of the game more to its theme, Pirating. Let raiding and exploring be the main focus, and not about wiping people and trying to steal as much land as possible. Let land stealing from others be the focus of those who are able to expand by adding more players to their company, or for new companies looking for a spot. This can make land disputes truly be disputes. I would also suggest a hard cap on how many max land claims a company can have regardless of size to avoid the servers being overrun by huge companies that eventually just take over the world. With how big of an area a single land claim is, and the limit of what was it? 500 players per company? (and a lot of them the Chinese players) that's a lot of lands used up even with this limit in place. So a hard cap need's to be set, or after a set player amount you need more and more players to gain that extra land claim. So say if you have 50+ players. instead of every 5 for a new land claim its every 10 players. Land is limited as it is, and with the current system, there's not an inch of land to be had even in the tundra areas as that's where most have all gone too. Adding in the tax system didn't fix the issue either, it just made people all the more greedy to own as much land as they can muster to get more of that tax. With this kind of suggested limit, players will control only as much land as they can support with their player count, it'll free up large sections of land that are currently just spam claimed by solo and smaller companies.   17. Looking for land (Preferably near G10) that I could build a small outpost and taming pen. I just want tigers and other resources that are not available to me. I am based on G10 (desert). I play with 1 person regularly but am part of a smaller company of people that I would be taming tigers for. I'd also be farming materials for myself and my partner, you can tax me whatever you want.   18. My fiance and I are looking for somewhere to build our 1st workshop and shipyard. We would prefer tropic or temperate areas. We are both fairly new to the game and therefore do not have much to trade but are more than willing to work for our homestead. Alternatively, we are more than willing to "rent" from someone who has space that they do not want to give up permanently which would still facilitate upgrading our Ramshackle Sloop to something more respectable. We are not interested in joining an established company since our goal going into this game is to push how far we can get on our own.
  19. We have a small plot of land that is available to rent to a small company.(no more than 5). The land sits on a beautiful lagoon that is completely Ally controlled. It is built on currently, with some defenses and a small dock that the landlords may still use on occasion. All crafting stations and a basic taming pen is included. This area has served us well and will be a great place for a small company to get it's legs underneath it. We were given this spot as a starter island and we feel its time to do the same. Location: Temperate Zone ,Northern half of Map (more info given upon discord discussion) Defenses: Mortars / Large gates / enclosed Stone building Requirements: English Speaking / casual attitude / Ally will be required to keep our defenses from punishing you / Help where you can if we need defensive help Rent: Payments on a weekly basis 250 g/week or equivalent resources may be agreed upon for the time being until you get ships going.   20. the best way to fix claiming for people is to be able to change the size of the claim radius i say the size of the claiming radius is large and always conflicts with other flags so we should have the option to smalen the radius from large,medium,small by pressing T when a flag is in build mode just like how walls change to doors or windows frames but this will halp alot of people not being able to get land in areas coz the radius is to big. thank you for reading
  21. We need someone from grapeshot to give an official explanation on the full mechanics of how land claiming works on both PVE and PVP. We can not find bugs and report them to you if we do not have a detailed understanding of how land claiming works. For example how is it I can camp a spot for 4 days and every time I try to steal land on pve it says it has had recent upkeep but yet a location I claimed gets stolen from me even though I visited it the same day it got stolen? Why do some locations say recent upkeep and others allow you to try to steel but just read contested the whole time after you place a flag? Then other times they can actually be stolen? I play solo and do some breeding/crafting, and I'm always available to help out with whatever progression your company is working on (I'd be willing to ally as part of the deal). I don't build as pretty as some, but I don't do ugly box bases either. I can pay in gold/materials, or possibly even a horse.   24. Hi there ... Unfortunately, we can't find room for a small settlement. We need a spot for a small and a big shipyard and a small hut on the beach. Does anyone have an idea where to get something like this? Gladly with screenshot of the map. We are 3 players. Alternatively are open for clues as to how it might work to get a place. We see a lot of inactive houses and sleeping players claiming whole islands. But our flags always disappear after 1 minute. What are we doing wrong? Where can we settle? Thanks for your help! Ameesa
