Twice now on NA PvE I've had cases where a ship and/or shipyard as spontaneously self-destructed. The first case was a Brig anchored in an lawless region. When I logged in about 8 hours later the only think left of the ship was frame. Company log just said it "was destroyed". Lost about 20 crew, 1000 gold, and all the associated cargo and mats. Oh, and my pathfinder was not able to harvest any mats. The sound and texture effects were all present but nothing accumulated in my inventory. So I was basically stuck. No way to do anything. So, yeah, thanks for that. So....I started a new pathfinder, and (oh, you're going to love this), traveled from the NW temperate freeport to an adjacent lawless region. Built a small base, and a small shipyard, and started a Schooner. Logout. Log back in about 8 hours later and the shipyard was GONE, and of course because my Schooner was half built it was left in pieces as well. Company log just says both were "destroyed". Note though that my starter Sloop was still anchored right next to base I had built, and the base itself was intact. Why do you keep destroying my ships? and shipyards? Seriously? What on earth could kill a shipyard in a PvE environment in under 8 hours (more like 3 hours given the time of the log entries). Grapeshot: you get one more chance. Fix this asinine bug or I'm outta here. Permanently.

Player Shops NPC Crewmates Cosmetics New Players Meet/Hire Player Crewmates Resources All of the above are reasons why the Accelerated Ship Decay should be delayed in Freeport Regions. From the moment you enter a Freeport Region, your ship begins to take a percent amount of damage every 10 or so minutes. My Brig was at full HP on all planks before entering the Freeport Region. By the time I made it to the Freeport island and anchored, my Brig had taken 400 points of damage on ALL hull planks. If players are going to be going to Freeport regions more often to buy and sell items and Player Shops, buy cosmetics for their ships, hire crew members and meet new players... they should not be forced to leave the Freeport region ASAP. The accelerated ship decay should START roughly an hour or two after entering a Freeport Region. That being said... I understand why there is Accelerated Ship Decay in Freeport Regions. This is to reduce lag and reduce clutter in these Freeport Regions. Players should not be clogging the place up with ships and campfires and bodies lying around everywhere, like we saw on Day 1. But if we are to be visiting Freeport towns more often because of the new content coming, like player shops... we should not be immediately penalized for entering these regions. Alternatively... @Argh! Pay mooring fees to anchor in a Freeport... an hourly (gold) rate allows for (an amount of time) in the Freeport. If you need to stay overnight due to unforeseen circumstance you will not return to a scuttled ship as long as you either prepay the "Dock Purser" or have the funds in a resource box on your ship -- Also limit this to any ship above the Ramshackle Sloop...

I really hope they do major reworks on their plans for pve, but if we must deal with the changes, I have a suggestion on a tweak on it. Patch notes from what it sounds like: Decay will happen on all floors, walls, ceilings, chests(?), crafting stations 24/7. As they take damage, you can put resources into a repair structure which automatically repairs all your structures over time. (within an area?) This is similar to how NPCs repair boats when idol and parked. This is implemented to try and free up inactive land so new players can find places to build. Sounds cool right? Potential issues: Foundation spam everywhere. Grapeshot thoughts for this to work: Upkeep costs means no infinite pillars. Reasons I don't think that will work: Currently those foundations go byebye when the owners don't reset the timers, aka walk near them every so often. There is already SOME sort of upkeep. It might not require farming but people aren't just placing down pillars to leave and forget about them. They want those foundations to be there. So they'll upkeep. If that upkeep is 5% of the mats to build it everyday, that's like... up to under 100 thatch, wood, fiber per week on every foundation. But those with even a tiny thatch house in a small plot of land will have at least 15x the upkeep. Why not just increase upkeep costs? It penalizes those who are legitimately trying to make any sort of build. A player can block off a large portion of land with 20 foundations spread apart. And only pay MUCH LESS upkeep to keep that there than say a person with a 4x5 (TINY) house with walls and a roof, plus chests, crafting stations and all else. How much can they really increase upkeep costs before it's unfeasible for even a small company house? They surely cannot increase it enough to keep trolls or land ransomers from blocking the surrounding area building rights. We'll all be living in our boats soon. High upkeep costs will also sway people away from making MAGNIFICENT builds. And that will be very sad to see go away. Everything will become just tiny efficient, bare min, houses and/or boat docks. Except, of course, main bases of large companies. SUGGESTION: Foundations create a claim of sorts. And the upkeep scales to the area of land (or % of land in the server) you have blocked by your buildings INSTEAD upkeep on every wall, ceiling, floor, roof, crafting station, chest, boat dock, etc. If the upkeep is based on area taken up on the map, then people will be more inclined to not spread out, so more land will be available. But they are also not penalized on upkeep in an attempt to keep foundation spam down, instead the foundation spammers will take the penalty. I've never done video game work but I feel like that might be hell to implement. So another lesser-effective suggestion but likely easier: Only foundations that block building have upkeep costs. So builders won't be paying upkeep on every single piece of the house. And they will not have to pay crazy significantly more upkeep than the foundation spammers. Then maybe you can raise upkeep prices a solid amount to weed out some foundation spammers. I'd really love people to still make amazing builds to explore. Thank you for reading.

Goods put into a preserving bag show the correct decay timer e.g. 5:31:42 and it ticks fine when the preserver is being accessed, however, when the preserver is not being accessed the decay timer ticks very fast. For example, the decay timer will show 3:44:02, close it, open it 2 minutes later and the timer will show 3:09:16 I noticed this with earthworms, as they were decaying quite fast making it difficult to accumulate enough to tame a crow.

A big issue currently is it seems like a toss up if a ship decays or not when anchored. We have a guy in K11 EU PvE that tries to ship spam blockade us, and far from all his ships decay despite no crew etc. Another issue is the ship sleepers in claim areas that will always contest. These also makes a small but persistent ship buildup of anchored ships that never goes away. And you can currently forever be annoyed by a person who came to your docks and just shortly after decided this game wasn't for him or her.

I started to play that game with a few friends and after a short period of time i was the only one left playin this game. So i builded in 10 Hours a Sloop (smallest Ship) on my own. After i finished the boat and took it for a ride for some Minutes i went to bed. After sometthing like 10h AFK i logged in and found out my ship is gone. .. I am more than pissed right now. I ve a fuckin regular Job and like playing games, but still have some other stuff to do in my freetime. If u want casual players to play the game you should fuckin delete that idiot decay on ships. If i need 10 h to build, i cant farm all fuckin day to keep it alive. I want to be a pirate and explore.. not just fuckin farm mats for havin a boat that deletes itself after i went to bed. I can see that game could be awesome...but plz delete that decay on ships...makes it unplayable for casual gamers...even people that kinda play 5 hours a day cant have their own ship cause of the farming u need to do...just for keeping the boat alive...this is more than Bullshit...its brainless... I really like the aspect of building and i have no probs with farming mats... but not if all my work is destroyed overnight..

On Tuesday 12/25/2018, we had our schooner sitting in the ocean while we logged off. We get back on and it was apparently destroyed by a ship of the dammed. Was this intended for Ships of the dammed to aggro offline ships? In addition, last night we built another schooner and pulled it near an island. After we logged off and came to check on it in the morning it was destroyed as well. No logs, no nothing. Someone mentioned decay timers were 8 hours????? If this is intended, it definitely needs to be increased to at least 12-24. People do need to sleep and even increase the timer depending on the size of the ship. Ex. Raft 8 hours, a sloop 12, schooner 16 etc etc
