  1. Okay i will go at the biggest issue now and try to suggest a rework of the claiming system that will allow all players and potential players to enjoy the game. It is clear that in a game that has everything from single players, small companies to big mega corps and giant territories as well as pvp, pve, trading, fighting, land and sea claims ... One claim flag and mechanic will not do, there needs to be several mechanics and flags to make all this work. Player Flags: Home Base (Limit 1) - Every Player can place one Home Base that will claim a small territory like 15 meters just enough to build a house. The Home Base cannot be unclaimed by any means, you can place a new one thou that will delete the old one but once placed you will have a reuse timer of several days that prevents you from rapidly moving the flag. On pvp of course the buildings on the claim can be attacked and destroyed, the claim will remain thou but getting your buildings destroyed over and over will make you want to move the claim somewhere else. The small area also allows to use the blank spaces between bigger claims that are not useable yet. It will decay after not logging in for 8 weeks. Home Port (Limit 1) (Sea Claim) - Every Player can place one Home Port that will claim a small area just enough to build one shipyard. The Home port cannot be unclaimed by any means, the same regulations as the Home Flag do apply. On PVP structures can be destroyed on the Home Port. It will decay after not logging in for 4 weeks. Players will not have any other claims to place. Every other claim will be only for companies as following. Company Flags: Company Base (Limit 1) - Every company can place one Company Base that has the actual claim size. It will have some protection from unclaiming and serves as the company base that is hard to take over. - PVE The claim cannot be unclaimed when members where active on the claim within 2 weeks. - PVP The claim cannot be unclaimed with members active or sleeping on the claim. Once the claim gets unclaimed it will count as occupied and can be instantly reclaimed by the original owners when all enemies on the claim are defeated, the buildings on a occupied claim will remain with the original owner. After 48h the claim will turn into a normal claim of the new owner. - New Owner: If the attacking company has no own City claim the claim will turn into a city claim and all buildings will change owner. If they have their own city claim already it will change into a normal claim and the building will stay with the original owner and start to decay, giving them more time to claim their company base back and preventing complete take over of multiple company bases. - This claim should be difficult to take over as it is the main base of a company and a battle about this claim will last a long time to give the owners and even small companies the chance to fight back. - This claim will not decay by itself. Company Harbour (Limit 1) (Sea Claim) - Every company can place one Company Harbor. It works exactly like the Company Base only that it can be placed in the water to make a Harbor. Land Claim (Unlimited) - The normal Land claim. It is unlimited but has no protection other than the strength of the Company that owns the claim. It can be unclaimed within 10 minutes and allows for building settings to allow other to build like the current claim system does but you cannot take taxes on this land. As the settings can be changed at any time this land is considered private land. The claim will decay within 24h if there is no building on the claim. Upon taking the claim over it will turn into a occupied claim for 24h during this time buildings will remain with the original owner and cannot be demolished but you can build and not loose the claim from leaving the territory. Empire Claim (Unlimited) - The empire claim is like the Land claim but will always allow others to build and takes taxes, it is considered public land and the owner cannot demolish buildings. On the other side this claim gets more protection and cannot be unclaimed fast. It does require to be contested for 24h. Since you can build and live there it is more easy to contest it for a longer time and allow the owner to strike back. The claim will decay within 24h if there is no building on the claim. So even if you get a new lord and they might raise taxes they cannot kick players out of their homes by simply changing it to private land. Sea Claim (Unlimited) - The Sea claim works like the land claim but can no longer be placed on the open seas as it will decay within 24h if there is no building placed on the claim so it is more tailored to shores and shipyards or harbors. Deep Sea Claim (Unlimited) - Should there be stuff on the open seas that needs claiming the claim flags will be placed on the sea bed and not be shown on the surface, so you are not in some ones territory while sailing the open seas. Occupied Claim (Temporary) - Its purpose is so you can claim Territory fast and dont need to stay inside but prevent you from demolishing the buildings of the original owner and give them a chance to strike back. The buildings stay with the original owner and it will turn into your claim after a certain time. Claim messages You will receive messages about contested or decaying claims with coordinates to be aware of claims you are going to loose and strike back. Also you will see player and company names of contesters in the message so you could also choose to strike at their base instead and convince them to leave your claims alone. The numbers on protection and claim times are up for balance and not set in stone. It needs to be tested first. This should allow all players to enjoy the game better, help with the problem of claiming beeing boring and no real chances to actually fight over a claim in most chases as well as giving some protection and freeing up space to allow more players to stay in the game.

Am I the only one who is close to have had enough of the sea claim barrels and all the flag notifications where either the owner or some random person wants to tell us something completely irrelevant? The entire map is close to being red if not already. it´s bad enough on land, but at least there is something valid about it. On sea however it´s barrel after barrel, usually with 3-5 barrels in sight always. I get it, sea claim and specially for the feb update is going to pay back in the bank. We are landlords(And sealords) ourselves, never harvest. Just let all the others do the work because we just got lucky. Born with a silver spoon (thank god for the unlimited resource box). However it is just getting stupid. All the 5000 flags per server with all it´s random player made flags that the client has to load each time it passes can´t be good either. Shoot a SOD? We take a cut, harvest from the seabed? We take a cut, found some floatsam? We take a cut. That part I like, but let´s be honest. At a time a patch note said it would remove sea claims and there was much rejoicing. Only to see the patch notes being changed again so they stayed. Feb patch will add teal colour to allies. But for the rest of the map your X is forever gone. So despite how I hate it in my bank account. Can we please once and for all get rid of the sea claims and every single flag notification. Not that either the claim system or lawless system even work to begin with...
  3. I realy not understand how it works. What i understand: You can't steal the land when somebody sleep on it(not more than 3 days(real time)) You can't steal the land when company member was on this land less than 3 days ago I suppose that you can steal it, when other company goes in afk, on my island i have many company where upkeep time near than -37k or eve -90k seconds. Pls explain me, what happened after upkeep timer goes away? And how devs suppose to punish afk company's, and what i need to do for claim enemy land, which have -60k upkeep timer. And also - if they sleep on their land how i must claim it? Even if it allow me to claim? I understand how it works on PVP, but on PVE?
  4. There is many suggestions and topics similar i know, just want to share my ideas about claim system. You can see many islands claimed by one company or player. They build enough for 2 flag claim spot but the rest is empty land. This is a huge kickback for new and growing players looking for land. Make claim flag "upkeep system" : 10gold/hour each flag after "first flag" .   5. Before you freak out, read the whole idea. First, make all claim flags require a resource upkeep. Second, make that upkeep exponential based on the number of claim flags a company holds. (First flag is 50 wood and 50 fiber per week. By the fifth flag ALL flags require 200 wood, 200 fiber, 200 stone, and 200 berries from the biome type it is planted in per week. By the twentieth flag ALL flags require 1000 wood, 1000 fiber, 1000 stone, 300 metal, 500 berries of biome type, and 200 berries of each of the OTHER biome types per week. Change the flag models to increasingly extravagant structures as higher tier is reached. Maybe every five flags. Exact numbers will be need to be balanced.) Third, make all structures and anchored ships within the claim zone invulnerable so long as upkeep is being met. If upkeep is not met, fast decay times like lawless zones set in. (A pick lock feature to allow some raiding perhaps? Make characters unable to pick locks within 5 meters of a sleeping character?) Fourth, an opposing group's counter claim is a destroyable structure that will continue claiming regardless of ANY nearby players until it is destroyed. Make it require resources to build and make the claim timer much longer. Ships and structures lose invulnerability when the owner clan damages the counter claim structure. (This will need balancing to find best values. Like 500 wood, 500 stone, 200 hides, 120 cooked meat, and a four hour timer. It's a siege after all.) Please respond with refinements that would help balance or avoid exploits. I can't think of everything. Perhaps restricting counter claims to particular days of the week? Like odd numbered grid squares Thursdays and Saturdays, even numbers on Fridays and Sundays, Mondays through Wednesdays only areas that have failed upkeep can be counter claimed. I would prefer counter claims anywhere, anytime, but tiny groups might not agree.

    Contest Timer

    Well i think it's old problem - incorrect upkeep timer on territory. My neighbours have -1808 timer for upkeep territory, but when i stay on it, it says - that it's contested - where is the problem?
  7. So, I want to preface this with I've stolen/claimed land before, but I'm confused this time around. There's a tribe on my map who've been inactive for a while, so i opted to try and get their land. As a result it worked! They had a house inside the land and half of it claimed to me. The other half however was claimed by another guy as he had done the same thing just a bit further out and so our lines were split. Well before he left to his other island he said we could take his land. He told us to wait the 3 days for the timer to be over that way the rest of the house would belong to us once we "stole" it from him so that way we could make use of the house. *However* I followed his instructions, and nothing changed. The first time i took land from someone they had a single chest on their plot, and once successfully stolen, that chest became mine. The second time was with the house, and that became mine (halfway) The third time, I'm stuck with it still belonging to the person who owned it with no count down timer, no decay notice, and no change to belong to us. I'm unsure if this is a bug from the new patch (the previous claims were days ago), or if this is some new change. Have any of you run into the same issue?

Another problem is the monopolization of treasures by some companies, an example is that players are creating foundations in places with treasures that make it impossible for people to catch them and destroying all the economy and progress of the game for novice players. Islands with treasures should be impossible to construct.

  10. it is necessary to reduce the time of reclaiming the land. 6 hours is absurd. otherwise change only so that the owners of the land can challenge, because anyone who steps in the area resets all the time of the flag in a matter of seconds. The person needs to be extremely unoccupied to stay there for more than 6 hours on a claiming ground. I lost my whole Sunday for nothing.

Two Issues: 1) Claiming Taking HOURS where I have to set aside 6 hours of my playing and enjoyment of the game to babysit a claim is pointless and would make a few people quit playing this early on in the game. 2) Every time ANY random person runs through the claim my entire progress is reset, they aren't even from the company I'm trying to claim from. Now I'm not opposed to the 6 hours, but making progress reset every time a random person runs through a claim is ridiculous, the company I'm trying to claim from haven't been online in more then a week. I suspect its school going kids, who have now gone back to school and will not be playing anytime soon. How to Fix this "tiny" issue: 1) Allow me to move away from the flag, and that timer needs to significantly reduce the longer someone is offline... a minimum of 1 Hour would be fine. 2) Just remove this, if a 3rd Party wants to join in on the claim war they should also need to place a flag to interrupt my claiming process, the only person(s) that should interrupt a claim is the company that I am claiming from, and even then it should never be an instant reset, it should tick down for them as it has to tick up for me. I think I've been fair in my comment here, any kind of response from the Developers would be much appreciated. //Llew
  12. Claim still quite an issue in the game. And not just because of numerous bug. And with newly put taxation system, you guys practically encourage everyone just to go out there an put "empty" claim everywhere they could. So they would get taxes, but also also preventing "safe" building for everyone else. First of all claiming obviously should be limited per person. Secondly - to make more customizable, so it would be simply one claim per person, make it as point buy: A single person (either if he/she made company or not) should have at most 10 meter radius of claim. That's more than enough to either put small shipyard and build small cottage right next to it, or split it to two claim for shipyard, and small cottage bit inland). That also insure that there would be plenty of land to claim for everyone, if solo claims will be small. In any case, there is really no point giving 50-meters radius claim to a single person (rest alone multiple of those). For company claims it should be simply accumulative radius from all company members. And likewise they are free to spend it how they want. 5-member company can go and try claim one huge 50-meters radius claim. Or they can go around and put numerous smaller claims. In both cases no new claim should be allowed, until one of the older claim would be removed, or one of older claim would be reduced. As of implementation. Would be bit tricky to put, but i think its possible. Give everyone like a week to actually go around and play with that system. And after one week, what they finally set - would be implemented. Practically removing all old claim flags, but at the same time enabling all new claim flags.
  13. Hello, i'm finally ready to get out of lawless land for create my sweet home, but i can't find a place with no claim or canon on it (almost die twice). Can someone now where i can find a little place for me with no claim on it ? I want to play this game ^^
  14. Title. The current claim system in ATLAS is broken and detrimental to the overall game experience. It goes against everything the game wants to be and if not changed, will likely lead to a dwindling player base. All you have to do is constantly run around an enemy island naked and press F1 to drop claim flags. As long as you have a bed stashed away somewhere on the island or on a ship nearby, you can do this indefinitely. Some claims will get contested, others won't, but you will be able to maintain constant harassment on them until the either log out and you take the claims in their off hours, or they will get burnt out chasing you around and just give up. You can't even see which of your claims are being contested, at the very least it should turn yellow on your map. The bigger the zerg you have helps with this because you have the numbers to keep up the naked F1 claim spam attack. It's pointless to even engage in proper PvP as there is no current value to it. Just grab some friends, get a bed hidden and throw yourself at the enemy spamming F1 around until you eventually get a claim down. There are some ways to solve this problem though, for example: 1) The flag could be changed from an ability to a physical object (Think tool cupboards from Rust). This way it's not possible to infinitely drop them on the enemy as you will have to craft them and keep them in supply. It could also weight a lot so as to discourage carrying multiple. This would also allow players to build around their claim flags and people would actually have to raid the base to take out the claim. This would be ideal. Or 2) To contest or take over another person's claim, you don't drop your own flag, you toggle on their flag and the capture/contest radius is a much smaller ring. This way it's much easier to see where the people are and PvP is almost guaranteed (No more naked hide and seek). This wouldn't be my preferred change but it would be a step in the right direction. I am sure there are other ways to change the claim system for the better and I hope people will comment in this thread with their ideas. The current system just doesn't work, it creates a meta that goes against everything ATLAS wants to be. It encourages cowardice, toxic behavior, griefing, zerging and PvP avoidance We plant claims to seize land. We attack claims to capture land. This is a hostile action. It's conflict. It's war. It's supposed to be anyway... But why should I bother loading up Galleons when a few rafts and some naked friends are just as effective...
  15. With the exception of the flags used to capture ships, claim flags should be limited to 4 per person in a company (10 for a 1-4 man company). For example, if you had 10 people in a company, the most amount of claim flags you can place down is 50. If a person were to leave the company and thus lower the max claim flags that your company is allowed to place, the owner must choose which flags to remove on the map. The owner doesn't need to decide immediately (He could be mid-battle or away for the day), and can be given 3 days to decide before the system automatically picks for him/her; however, during this period, you will not be able to place additional flags. * If the person that left rejoins or another person joins, the max claim flag limit goes up, thus negating the 3 days to decide; with this method, people who accidentally leave or people that like to troll won't harm the company *
  16. I really enjoyed the game and I'm here to give my suggestion to improve the experience of all players, especially people who play alone or in small Comapany. I already have +200 game and I can not find a live area to claim an area for me. I'm tired of every island (in Lawless region) that I go it is already dominated by a single company. I have visited all the islands of O, A and N is always dominated and it is not possible to "steal" any area. My suggest the following changes to PVE ONLY:- Limit the number of flags of members of the same company to only 1 per Region. (Eg If I have a flag with an claimed area on any of the islands in A2 I can only claim another area in another region eg A3)- If an company owner or some of his crew members do not visit his area within a certain time period the area can be dominated by anyone else and the former owner can be notified (via HUD) to be able to retrieve your items / animals / ships within 6 hours for example, and objects after that period are allowed to be demolished or claimed by the new owner of the area. Note: I found this topic below and it seems a good solution too if it were to be linked with my idea somehow.
  17. Hi there ... Unfortunately, we can't find room for a small settlement. We need a spot for a small and a big shipyard and a small hut on the beach. Does anyone have an idea where to get something like this? Gladly with screenshot of the map. We are 3 players. Alternatively are open for clues as to how it might work to get a place. We see a lot of inactive houses and sleeping players claiming whole islands. But our flags always disappear after 1 minute. What are we doing wrong? Where can we settle? Thanks for your help! Ameesa
  18. The land claiming in PVE , needs to be changed . If you were late or new player , its really hard to get any land cause every place is taken over and i mean by 1 player thats placed flags all over the island. You ask for land they either dont respond or reject you. Even if they will not build on it others cant have it . And now with the flag defence by only running into the take over area you can defend it people are even worse. Heck only reason i managed to get any land was cause i went for the farthest and smallest island on a grid and even that was all claimed with 0 buildings on it. And why i got it was cause it took the guy 1 hr to travel to it from another island , they had claimed the whole server with only 3 players amd even then came to "defend" the land . Anyways there need to be like 1-2 claiming flags per player at least on the PVE servers cause this is just getting really stupid. And its not only me most times i travel through a grid people are comlaining about it.

We are now unable to build in our unfinished base, the territory is directly behind the base, so theres no question its in our territory, We can access doors and everything else, we are just unable to place things. Example attached. Apparently last night noticed a bunch of guys standing on the roof of our unfinished base, they wandered over and the group took off. When they opened the small gate to go back inside, tons of undead spawned in the base (or were already spawned.. not sure). Once they were dispersed, we noticed this issue. Is there a chance the other peoples chest is buried under our base and acting as a foundation preventing us from building? I quickly scanned through forum and didn't see anything that looked related.
  21. Well gonna take a break from the game until they fix the claim system and ship sinking . Ive had 5 fresh starts and i know it a early access game so il give em that but the current state of PVE is unplayable i dont care that ive lost 2 sloops and schooners to griefers or that my building was taken over while i was sitting on the flag IF it was a PVP server. For the PVE servers those kinda things make the game unplayable at its current state. You need to have someone sitting at your flag 24/7 and hope your flag aint bugged.
  22. Curious if anyone wants to join a crew or even ally, my crew of 4 cant find land anywhere to claim. Also afraid of it being contested while were offline(actually have a life), so were trying to get a larger trustworthy crew together. And if you play solo that's cool too, lets find some land(if possible)and everyone can do their own thing. We do have a few ships, a Galleon is one of them Also playing on Hydra's den (PVE) (and don't comment on here talking trash, really don't care to hear it)
  23. The current claim system is awful. For a PVP server maybe it's good, but under no circumstance on a PVE server should other players be allowed to steal anything from you, kill you, or do really anything that impacts your gaming experience. Since day 1 it has been nothing but game-impacting "bugs". I'm not going to get into all of them because this would be an entire page worth of complaints. These are not bugs like "oh this thing doesn't work sometime", these are bugs that cause you to basically start completely over. It's been exhausting and just when I finally had things going in the right direction, I log off for the night away from my base (went to get a crew from a freeport) and logged back in to see that someone stole my claim and destroyed everything I had built (which was a pretty good amount) and stole all the resources/gear that I had gathered over the last week or so. I can see how this would be okay on PVP servers or if I hadn't logged on the game for numerous days or more, but they stole my claim 5 hours after I had logged off and everything is gone now. The claim system should be simple on PVE. If the player that claimed the land hasn't logged in for the last X amount of days, the claim goes away or can be taken. That's it. No exceptions. It's even super easy code, let me know, I'll write it for you. Being able to take claims is important to the game as it will prevent a bunch of land being claimed up by people that no longer play the game, but you should not be able to steal claims from people who actively play. Between this issue and many others, I'm putting down the game, at least for now. Maybe one day after these systems have been reworked and improved upon I will return. I love the game itself in terms of concept and the big picture, truly amazing. I wish I could keep playing, but it's simply impossible to enjoy with the current issues. I know many others are dealing with this and leaving the game as well, I hope it's fixed soon.
  24. The PVE clam stealing should be fixed ASAP. We don't even dare leaving main base without at least 1 person sleeping inside the base because of the crap trollers that try to steal the claim with the whole base on it. On PVE this is horrible to even think of. Somebody being able to steal all you worked for in 30 mins. Also, as another bug, on the island where we are, resources are no longer spawning (trees, rocks, etc). This started happening about 2 days ago. It was fine until then. We now have a large island with no trees on it that won't even respawn. There are 10 people on this island playing (more or less) that might keep the area rendered, so this should be fixed by NOT ALLOWING online chars to prevent resource spawning.
  25. Yes i know the Game is EA but these bugs are not okay (me and my Girlfriend have actually 125h and 120h Gametime) We really like this game and some Bugs are funny but these are not: 1. Claim overlapping Which Claim belong to whom? its so chaotic you dont know which claim is yours, others can steal your claim any time after 3 days. So, when its a group with many many people and you are the neighbours and you just have a small group with 2 people (like us) you can lose every claim. Its impossible to get a nice base with a small group because the big groups are totaly prefered. 2. Sink ships from other Players. We build two Ships 1 Schooner and 1 Sloop, because we want to be on the safe side when we met a ghost ship. Today we released our second Ship, 10 Minutes later 3 People (from our Neighbours~20+) sunk both ships. How could it be on PVE Server, that someone took to much weight and move on your Ship and it sunk?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Thats terrible!!!!!!! 3. To many aggro Animals. Tons of aggro Wolfes, Lions, Tiger, Rattlesnakes, Giant Snakes etc.... (including 3-5 Alphas on one Spot) There are many big Groups who exploit Bugs and play PVP on PVE Servers and i ask you how could this be???? Do you want that only big Groups play Atlas? than you have to announce this before the alpha release. that frustrates so much People, you can read this on ingame chat. A big thanks for this Bugs
