  1. -Armored docks need to be removed from the game: Whats the point of a pirate game if u cant even destroy ur opponents ships when raiding?! People just put all their loot into their ship and gold into the armored dock, and their stuff is safe. That's dumb. There is no point in raiding if u cant get people's loot. Remove them or massively reduce their HP to like 500k. -puckle npc's need to be vulnerable the game needs smart AI that u buy and is already equipped with weapons, and can respawn given u have the gold, with a respawn cool down。 We need smart AI, no need for insta kill swivel gun AI and Puckle. Let people fight on ships with weapons in their hand like real pirates did. -gold cost for self crafted ships needs to be removed gold coins just make the boat crafting unnessarily grindy and it is unrealistic. -no gun mini game it's just a horrible idea -HP of shipyards needs to be lowered they are too cheap for what they endure. And ofc people abuse this fact and spam them along the coast as a barricade -Lighthouses are too cheap they are too cheap compared to the HP they have, hard to take out and too easy to build -mortars on ships need to be allowed to counter mortars on land they need to be rebalanced and be allowed to be place on ships, whether they do damage to other ships, u have to figure out. But attacking a base with ur ship and being attacked by mortars on land, u on ur ship have no option to counter them at the moment. If land has mortars, ships need as well otherwise it's unfair -ships should be insta captured if beds are destroyed, and ship is decrewed Thats right! Its not a pirate game if u cant capture ships. U kill the crew on board u take his ship! U can reduce the countdown to max 10 to 20min, not longer! Nobody is willing to kill somebodies crew and wait for 2 full days!!! And this game is plane boring if u cant capture ship. The whole point of being a pirate is to plunder and capture ships. -structures must be capturable Nobody shouldnt be able to own anything, so u can move into anybodies range if u own their (cupboard, like in Rust) Thats one solution. The big problem in Atlas right now is u cant capture buildings, and people spam stone pillars everywhere to prevent people from building there. Sticks are so cheap and to take them out wiht cannon balls takes hours. Cupboards would be more expensive and people can take over bases that way. -small characters should get a speed penalty, while super large ones get a damage buff most people choose midget size for their characters because their harder to hit wiht ranged weapons. This is an abuse and should be fixed. Either dont allow midgets or give them a speed penalty (small characters move slower). The smaller u are the slower you move. -cannons need to be pick-up-able and be placable on enemy foundation to raid efficiently what a waste of material for the raider. Thats unfair and is plain unfair! U should be able to pick up ur cannon. -fix that bug where after u use praying eyes u cant pull out ur weapons, and increase duration fix -remove peace/combat phases totally unrealistic and lame. Everybody should be able to be attacked whenever people decide to. Peace and combat phase system is just nonesense and killing the fun of the game. The thrill of the game is when u dont know when ur opponent attacks u. Peace and combat phases kill that uncertainty. -blueprints need to be removed they add nothing new to the game, it's just a numbers change in stats. Add new weapons or clothes if u want improved versions. Changing numbers is just lame. And the blueprints imbalances the game even more. -aging/hair growth is way too fast atm there's no fun in being old in a couple days again right after u went to the fountain of youth -remove shaking earth effect caused by animals it's annoying -no more crew limits on ships U should be able to board as much crew as u want -remove all chores like treasure hunting, floatsam etc. from the game repetitive, boring, slowing down the traveling -players shouldnt spawn on freeports, and freeport, there shouldnt be a safe zone same with the armored dock, total safety sucks, takes out the thrill. U can give freeports towers to defend or something, but dont just make them safe... Everyone will just store his loot there in their boats including animals -nerf barrels I heard they are too strong, and i felt they were quite strong once. Dont add money to them. -remove ships of the damned super annoying, and this is a multiplayer game, not a single player. NPCs have no business to be there in such large amount. Especially these ships should be very rare or not even there at all. -regarding animals: Horses are too strong. They shouldn't be able to fight other animals and humans. That's unrealistic and makes them overpowered. They also have too much HP. Remove their leveling and torpor damage. The rider should fight with his sword/lance etc. not use the horse to hit other creatures, thats nonesense. Elephants have too low weight capacity. Lions make annoying noise when jumping. Lions cant take enemies off their mounted animals nor even hurt them. Some horses are level 100+ people upgrade their HP, a lion then can neither grab the rider from its horse nor can the lion do as much damage as fast as the rider can heal the horse! Animals shouldnt be upgradable, that ur horse becomes a tank and kills a tiger just because it is level 70 and the tiger is level 30. Remove all upgrades from animals! Or simply fix it, make their upgrades tiny and add speed upgrades or whatever, figure it out! Razertooth cant jump, why?!?! -nerf mace, shield stun, buff crossbow/bow/guns, nerf shield, nerf hook pvp a joke in this game. ranged weapons do too low damage (esp. vs armor) plus players are able to upgrade their HP. And Mace is utter bullshit OP as well as some dirty ridiculous stuff like using the hook against players - what a joke is this??? Hook should never be used against people thats such nonesense! And guns are also bad. Too little damage. And remove shield bashing or make it a one time use wiht a cooldown, same wiht the fist power punch that stuns the enemy every time. -Handcuffs need to be removed or there needs to be a solution they are too overpowered in certain situations for example if u r getting raided u cant even face ur opponents in melee fight because u r too scared to to fall into their hands and be hand cuffed. Thjen u can see ur base being raided while u cant do anything. Also handcuffs can be used in a abusive way. People can literally keep being caged for hours. Either remove handcuffs completely or find another way! This feature is absolutely abusable and very bad! -Cannon balls fly too slow another factor that turns sea fights into horseshit. They fly too slow and thus are able being dodged by simply stopping the boat and accelerating it. -after destroying a warehouse you should get all the loot inside, not a fraction unrealistic and bullshit. Give all loot!!! ur just grieving the raider. Maybe ur personal hatred or ur scared about a few people leaving the game that cant stand losses. Babies... -bar shots need to be removed utter idiotical overpowered horse crap ammunition that ruins sea pvp. All sea fights are determined by this ammunition. -no character upgrades like HP etc. level 120 player vs player level 10. Nakeds killing another player fully armored just because they are level 120 with 300 HP. Total bullshit! -player name join notification needs to be removed it gives away players information and that is not good, u want to be anonymous to not let ur enemies know when ur in the same grid and when not -customizable zoom for ships needs to be added people want to be able to zoom out more -remove customizable ships u shouldnt be able to build on ur ship, it's not land, u cant just build a house on it!!! It looks dumb and it makes pvp unrealistic. People build towers on their ships to get more range and place like 6 cannons on the back to shoot backwards on top of a tower, thats just sheer stupidity. Dont allow construction on ships. Give us ready ships, that we can craft their parts for and add some attachments on it. The custom building on ships is one of the reasons why ship fights are so unrealistic and stupid and it needs to go! -increase ship weight capacity it's too punishing having a couple cannons on your ship, having the bare minimum of cannons is already too much. Increase overall max weight capacity of all ships! Besides cannons should all weight not more than 40kg, no matter where they are placed -remove limits for alliances and company size whos friend with who and how many u dont decide! -handling sails get greatly outperformed by speed sails they're just too slow, even against the wind speed sails still beat them! -wood/stone pillars's HP needs to be reduced People spam these pillars all over their island so nobody can build while it takes 20 cannon ball shots to take out just one!!! Holy crap, it isnt a stone wall for fuck sake! Lower their HP so 1 cannon ball is enough to destroy a stone pillar! -remove ownership buildings, ships should be capturable just by bording it. There should be no ownership. At the moment one person is the owner, and can basically kick all members and claim all stuff for himself. Thats totally abusable. Imagine a clan of 20 members, they have 30 galleons and what not and the owner one day decides to kick everybody. What a horrible scenario! This whole ownership is so dumb and needs to go! Ownership on animals makes sense, but the rest not! It needs to be like in Rust where there are cupboards. 1 person should never have that much power to own it all and be able to grief a group. And nothing is capturable at the moment. U cant conquer bases or ships, u have to wait till the players leave and their base auto decays. Just a complete horseshit system! -reduce gather rate and adjust prices A 2x2 thatch house should take 10 min to build. A 2x2 wood house should take 20 min to build. A 2x2 stone house should take 40 min to build. This will prevent building spam. If players lose a building it should hurt! Also making a stone house should be an accomplishment people can be proud of. -remove custom building It totally ruins the game! It looks ugly, it wastes time, it's not fun and it is unrealistic. People build fucking bunkers in the pirate age, like wtf!?! Remove this cancerous building system and replace it with prebuilt buildings. Let us choose from a row of houses, castles, towers which one to place. And make it 3 cultures, so the player can actually choose his building style. Same with boats, allow nordish/egyptian/asian ships. The game build should work as in a strategy game, where u just place buildings based on ur ressources and skills. Remove the cancerous custom build from land and ships! -allow saving ships (save + load) building the same ship over and over is tedious and wastes time. Allow us to save our own ships so that we just need to put the right ressources into the dock to make them at once. -remove towers that give buffs to ships benefits clans only, and is very silly by design Reduce a companies income based on their member number, increase crew cost for bigger clans 1. The more member it has the less each member gathers. So let's say if they are 20 people, 1 player only gathers 1/20th of what a solo player gathers. This garantees the equal ressource income of 1 player vs 20 players. It can be compared to a strategy game where 1 player controls 1 faction, and 20 players control alltogether another faction. These 20 players still have the advantage of being able to build faster bc they can devide their work, but at least both factions have the same ressource income. This will make sure that all companies have the same ressource gather capacity! 2. Increase amount of gold cost per crew member based on company size. Lets say 1 player can afford 20 crew members, for the same gold cost a 20 player clan can only afford 1 crew member. The result is an equal force of 21 vs 21 players. The bots bought need to be strong as a player. So the AI needs to be improved. If u cant make them smarter just give them more HP and attack, because we all know the current AI is stupid af and unable to compete with real human players. Same for Sea fights. A player can buy AI ships similar to the ships of the damned, that have HP. These AI ships can follow the player similar to tamed animals on land. This change will equal out forces! Same goes for allies. So If they ally (split clan into smaller companies) and ally, each company's gather rate will be halved. If they secretly ally (means not officially), and they fight side by side, the game will recognize that two enemy forces are next to each other while not either side is taking any damage caused by the other player and the players will lose their HP/sec by a certain amount. Same goes for ships, u cant have enemy ships nearby, while not fighting. After a certain time they take damage. If 3 random people are attacking each other, each of them has to attack both players, otherwise he'll take damage, so it is never a 2vs1. -Remove all servers called "PVE" it devides the community. And people who cant play the game right because they are not good enough should just leave. This is a pirate game not a baby game.
  2. Can we, you know, get a little more than 20 second warning before you shut the server down Grapeshot? I mean, you guys did develop the game, you KNOW people can't secure their boats and stuff in that timeframe, and an unsecured and unmanned boat is in immense danger from all manner of nasty things; from whales to cyclones, to SotDs, other players (in PvP), or even just crashing into something because it was running under full sail close to shore when you did the shutdown. Would it kill the server admins to give people a 5 minute warning? <.< /rant
  3. I would like to see the Devs make a statement concerning these locations. Are they like ruins on ARK where you can build on them? Presently, you can, but my mind is convinced that these locations are not finished. I am under the impression that these locations will become NPC marketplaces, thus not allowing you to build there, and if you have, a future update will just make your stuff go bye-bye. So I chose not to build there, but I have seen some people put extensive work into building in such places. For instance: So the question is simple. What are the plans for these areas, and how much control of these areas, will players be allowed to have? Will you be able to keep buildings like this there, and thus use them as a base, blocking the area for others? Will you not be able to build there, buy place a land claim to tax trade with NPC's Will there even be NPC vendors? Settling these questions with honest answers would be a good thing, even if the answer is, "We are not sure yet," accompanied by a statement on what they would like to do, but are not sure of the feasibility. I guess it is the ambient crowd noise that leads me to believe that the area is unfinished, and meant to be visited by many players...likely...to visit NPC vendors.
  4. The sound the lion makes while running next to you or riding is terrible can you do something it sounds like its someones pants chaffing lol
  5. We are looking for some mature people to help maintain remote resource bases. * No slavery * No demands on hours played * No forced specialization All we ask is that you not be a jerk in Global and be active in company chat when you are bored. Background chatter is important to help maintain a healthy community in a company. Talkers are very welcome. Send me a private message if you are interested. If you are looking to beat the game in a few days, this is the wrong company. If you plan on playing the game for thousands of hours and want to join a company that will be here, send me a message.
  6. As per the title, since week one we've seen reports, linked streams where cheating is being flaunted, videos of one guy headshotting 5 guys in the same second from outside of visual range, etc. I started in O9. Anyone within 10 tiles knows the story of what happened to my tribe and all the other tribes in the area. A single cheating tribe forced us all out with aimbotting, esp and shooting into buildings with no windows/doors open. They now "own" O9, and the alpha tribe I'm now part of, who are fairly aggressive and not afraid of punching back hard when someone harasses us, just says to not bother with the O-9 server because you can't beat people who cheat that hard. This is common knowledge among all our allies too, including many who are in the top 10 list on the main page for the NA pvp server. Yet despite the common knowledge aspect, and all the reports, and the public stance against cheaters by Grapeshot/Wildcard...that tribe is still there, and slowly expanding with their allies. What will it take to get an obvious tribe of cheaters like them, or the various other ones caught on stream/video, to get wiped and banned? There's a lot of players who were on the server that don't bother playing anymore, and this isn't a problem that will go away with individual player suspensions or bans.
  7. It had been a week or so after that fateful night before I was ready to set off to sea. I had arranged for all of my personal belongings to be sold off, in exchange for some supplies and passage on a ship heading east. The ship would rendezvous in Nozetal with a local captain who was known to take any fare as long as the gold was right. With my itinerary set, the days could not go by fast enough, anxiously waiting to set course for the lands unknown depicted in the cryptic journal. We laid my brother's body to rest a couple days after I had discovered him dead, washed up on the shore. My boisterous brother had apparently made a name for himself in this small harbor town with nearly half the residents in attendance at his funeral. To somber the mood, his mates suggested a celebration in his honor and begrudgingly I obliged, on the terms it took place the night before I left. As much as I would enjoy a fitting send off for closest kin, I was still well aware that those that murdered Nathan could still be out there and would still be looking for the pages he died protecting. The inn was full that night, filled with every sort of scallywag one could imagine. As I was packing my belongings in one of the rooms above, the windows laid open, a vent from the heat already rising from the festivities taking place below. Towards the end of the evening I made my way downstairs to make my appearances, anxious for this night to end so I could start my journey come sunrise. I took a seat at the bar with a few old crewmates and bided my time with half laughs and fake smiles, waiting for the opportunity to make some excuses to end the night early. After about four or five half-baked, fully exaggerated stories and a sea shanty or two, I noticed my mug had run dry and was looking to the innkeep to top me up. However, as I lifted my glass to signal my predicament, I noticed he had much more pressing matters at hand. His eyes were fixed on the doorway, as if sizing up trouble as it entered the inn. As I peered over my shoulder through the crowded bar room, three figures in black cloaks made their way through the crowd and sat themselves at a table in the back corner. A chill went up my spine as I turned to face the bar and the empty mug in front of me, feeling their eyes burn a hole in my back. The room felt much hotter and as I gripped the pages of the journal tucked into my shirt, panic raced in my mind as sweat began to bead on my forehead. "You alright mate?" I thought the innkeeper shouted but all noises had become dull and unrecognizable as I wondered if I was about to share the same fate as my brother. "Oi, you're clean dry, let me fix that for ya!", he continued as he grabbed my mug. But I was no longer concerned with my thirst, for it seemed my demise was inevitable, draped in a black cloak a few yards away. Thoughts raced in my head, of my brother, the journal, and the dreams dashed before they started. Through pure instinct, my body urged me to run. Run as fast as I can to anywhere. Anywhere is better than here. Before my head could process, my hand was already on the bar turning myself to the door. Eyes fixed on the target, I plotted my route through the crowd and out the front door. I took a moment to glance at my pursuers and as our eyes met, a slam pierced through the fog of noise and shook me to attention. I turned to the bar to see a frothy mug had been dropped at my place and a kind smile had returned with a solution to my woes. "Take a swig and you'll be alright lad," he beckoned. Dazed, with the train of thought derailed, I grabbed the mug and took a hearty swig, half in hopes this ale would deliver me from this hellish situation. To my surprise, my salvation wasn't in the mug but under it. As I wiped my lips with my sleeve and looked to place the mug down again, in its place was a worn iron key. My eyes widened as I stared at it and when I finally looked up at the innkeep, he leaned and whispered, "You should get a bit of rest now. I think you'll find this room a little more comfortable." As he leaned back and left to address the rest of the clientele, the pieces, once jumbled, were now set and I had hope. With my back to my potential assailants, I carefully tucked the key into my jacket and stood up from the bar. With one last swig, I finished my drink and then said my farewells. I left every coin on my person and carefully made my way back up the stairs. As I ascended, I took one last look across the room at the three in black, hoping to never see them again. I raced down the hallway past my room and used the key to enter the room next door. I slid into the room and quickly locked it shut. With my back against the door, I clutched the journal at my chest and let out a deep breath. It was not long before I heard footsteps in the hallway. Nervously, I had placed myself up against the wall shared with my previous room and could hear, although muffled by the noise from below, as they made entry into my former quarters. They moved quickly, breaking down the door and quickly realizing I was no longer there. From the muffled shouts, they deduced I had left through the window that had been left open and sent one in search of me while the others stayed to search the room. The desperate snapping of wood and tearing of cloth was the only thing heard for the next few minutes as I sat in silence, occasionally startled when their carnage would fly across the room and slam into the shared wall. Thoroughly spent and unrewarded, the noise from the neighboring room subsided and finally, after some time, hurried footsteps rushed down the hallway to continue their search elsewhere. They had not found me but I was not safe yet. I dared not sleep in fear of their return and sat quietly, in anticipation of the footsteps coming down the hall again. Paranoia began to creep in as every sound as the night went on drew closer to sounds of imminent danger. It was not long before I began pleading within myself for the sun to rise and to be away from this town. I needed to do something to keep the idle mind at bay. To keep myself from madness, I lit a candle on the floor and pulled out the journal. I hastily arranged the sea-soaked pages on the floor and began to decipher the next entry in the journal. As the words and phrases unraveled, I became more and more obsessed, losing my senses of the world around me. The findings Nathan died protecting would change the world forever and it was our fate to share them with the world. Possessed, I continued to scribble the entry into existence. The sky had changed to a lighter shade of blue and a peek of orange could be seen once I was done. In my amazement and relief, I read the words aloud, grateful to see another day. “I set sail to the Walfield Atol, an island reported to have Power Nodes located on it. As it appeared on the horizon, I could see an odd formation sticking out of the sand. It looked too straight to be a rock, but due to its size I couldn’t imagine what else it could be. As I sailed closer however, I realized it was carved! It was an immense statue. I could see the outline of the skull carved into stone, eyes glowing green in the late evening light. Dropping anchor, I jumped into the water and swam to shore. This statue had to be bigger than any I have seen in these waters before. Was this the structure that so many pathfinders have spoken of? I set off on foot towards the center of the island, where an Altar was rumored to be. As I follow the river around a large rock formation I pass carved rock pillars. Similar to the totem statue that I passed earlier, but not as large. Looking forward I see something that can only be described as a man made hill. It is a giant perfectly round… mound. The same skulls that were carved into the totem are all over it. I made my way to the top and almost fell face first into a pit. I’m sickened by what I see at the bottom. Several skeletons and rotting corpses are floating in a shallow pool of water. The smell of rotting flesh makes me fall back, slipping and rolling to the dirt. Shaken, I stand and rush past this Burial Mound hoping that that is the worst I find on this island. Finally, I found the Altar that I’m looking for. Cursed Pirates are everywhere, so I am hiding in a bush. Watching the pirates I notice that they are carrying large chunks of stone and wood around another huge boulder. I sneak around and sink back onto my knees. They have built what looks like a temple. There must be several rooms inside, as I watch at least fifty pirates enter the structure with full loads, but leave empty handed. Do I dare try to sneak inside? I didn’t bring enough grog for that. I hurry back to my Sloop and set sail for the nearest freeport.” I sat back in awe. These altars, these monuments, could etch our names in history! Not only that, I finally had a destination. Walfield Atol, I had never heard of it, but it was start. I frantically gathered what was left of my things and raced to the harbor. I sprinted through the streets, half-delirious, half-jubilant, shedding tears to my good fortune. And as the anchor raised from my vessel and the harbor slowly shrank into the distance, peace had finally set in. The doors were all shut. But miraculously, I had been given a key, and now, wonders untold await me. Exhausted, I went into the hold for some much needed rest. I grabbed whatever I could find and made a bed on a few crates. And there I slept, dreams reignited, swathed in a long black cloak. Major Announcement We hope you are enjoying our continuing narrative building up to our next major patch! 8. I think you'll find this room a little more comfortable." 9. Apparently they have a niche group of yes-men players whos opinions they value more than 99% of the feedback I've seen. Why? Because they agree with everything the devs are doing, so clearly they must be right! Never mind the vast majority telling them it's a bad idea. The majority of players that disagree with this stupid idea don't count. It's just "noise" to the devs, in their own words. Well, let's see what that strategy does for them if they try to sell any future content for the game when the noise makers refuse to buy it.
  10. I love the admission that listening to your player base means hearing “a lot of noise”. Thank you for being honest. Just the other day I asked my children what they would like for dinner and all I heard was a lot of noise.
  11. *Nathan, I'm sorry...* If only I hadn't been so foolish, maybe things would have been different. Like a moth to a flame, I followed the destinations laid out in the journal, enamored by the thought of new discovery. From the night I found my brother lying dead on the beach and the narrow escape from the figures in black cloaks, I had sided with destiny to determine my fate and thrown precaution to the wind. And now, in a raging tempest in uncharted waters, hunted by those I eluded before, the journey is now over as our small ship sails directly into a mythical disc described in the journal. With nearly the entire ship lost behind this circular veil, I accepted my fate and closed my eyes as the ominous disc swept over me. ... ... A breath... and then another. "Does one still draw breath in the afterlife?" I pondered. ... Wherever I was, I could no longer feel the rain pouring down on me and to my surprise, a warm breeze began to brush across my face. I could sense I was still being supported by the same hard surface, although less turbulent than it was moments ago. I turned flat on my back, face toward the heavens, and listened to my breath as I slowly opened my eyes. The storm clouds had disappeared to reveal the night sky, stars twinkling brightly although in a different configuration than I previously remembered. The journal was true. Exhausted and relieved, I closed my eyes again and fell into a deep slumber. And in that sleep, whether due to the extreme circumstances preceding or just coincidence, I had one of the most vivid dreams that I still remember to this day. “Sand, heat, and the savage sun beat down on me as I crossed the shifting ground of this god forsaken island. Why anyone would build a structure here is beyond me, as humans would have a hard time living here. It’s so hot. Just as I stop to rest under the shade of a palm and have a sip of water, I notice that the light is beginning to dim. It is mid afternoon, it shouldn’t be getting dark yet. I look up to see if a cloud has blocked the sun, wouldn’t that be a gift from god...but am greeted by a sight I will never forget. The sun was being eclipsed as I watched. A dim shade of orange was all that was left to light the land. I stumbled to my feet, intending to climb to the top of the nearest dune to get a better view of the island in this light. As I passed the crest of the dune a second sight took my breath away. I was looking down at a massive Pyramid. It had to be bigger than the great pyramids in Egypt! There was a smaller pyramid about the same size as one of the monumental temples the Cursed Pirates built, sitting at the base of the dune I was one. I approached cautiously, right up to the smaller pyramid. It had a large doorway that led to a stairway down into darkness. There didn’t seem to be anyone around, so I lit a torch and descended into the darkness. I walked for what seemed like days in complete darkness, finally seeing light ahead I discarded the torch in favor of secrecy. The room I entered was massive. Large statues of pure gold lined the walls, a pool of crystal clear water in the center and a massive throne at one end. Doors led off of this room to the left and right, but before I could investigate them I heard a noise from behind the throne. Peering around it I found myself looking into another massive room filled with treasure. Moving around the treasure piles were cursed pirates! What are they doing here? My shock must have made me stumble, because I was suddenly on the ground coughing. Looking up, I found myself staring directly into the eyes of a pirate. I ran for it. I have never run that fast in my life, dropping everything I was carrying except for my journal! I didn’t stop running until I had left the entry tunnel and made it back to the top of the sand dune. I looked back to marvel at the Wonder of this Great Pyramid, before turning back towards my Sloop and that safety and freedom only the horizon can bring.” "Wakey wakey little thief!" Jolted from my sleep, I was met by the contents of a large bucket of what I could only assume was seawater thrown in my face. I quickly scanned before me as I gasped my air from the shock. I had been sat up against the wall of the cabin, hands and feet shackled away unable to clear the generous welcome gift from my face. In front of me stood four figures, three of them in black cloaks and in the center, was a rather large figure in black jacket with his back turned toward me. Before I could muster a reply, a wave of nauseousness struck me and instinctively I turned to the side and began to vomit. "Don't be embarrassed," the man in the black jacket stated as I continued to spill what little contents I had onto the deck. "That's just the portal sickness. Turns out the human body doesn't take too kindly to being disassembled and reassembled hundreds of miles away." As he spoke, he turned his head slightly back at me. "Vomiting, blurred vision, nasty runs... but it gets easier, ya know. Not like you'll be around much longer to find comfort in that, so you'll have to take my word for it." In a brief moment, although hidden behind a black bandana wrapped around to lower part of his head, I thought I saw a wily smile form from the side of his face. "Who... are you?" I managed to cough out just before the heave in my stomach keeled me over, forcing me to regurgitate my insides one again. "Who am I?" he repeated. "Why ask what you already know?" He then revealed the journal in his right hand and held it up for display. My eyes darted down to my chest to confirm what had been so close to me during my travels now belonged to him. "You've made a lot of progress, deciphering most of the entries," he continued as he began sifting through the pages. "A commendable but wasted effort, especially to die here." He then snapped the journal shut. "I see you've read about my crew so I guess we no longer have to keep up the charade." With a motion of his hand, the three cloaked in black lowered their hoods. Horrified, three ghastly faces emerged, human but cold and void of any healthy color. In that moment, I realized the dream I had was actually an imagining of one of the entries of the journal and before me was the true incarnation of the cursed pirates. My heart sank with the realization that I had been chasing a fairy tail, dreams and delusions of grandeur but now it had very much become a living nightmare. "Now," the black jacketed figure interrupted, breaking my mental spiral. "who you are is of little consequence to me but before I kill you I would like to know why. Why would anyone foolish enough to steal from me be willing to come back to its source?" "My brother," I sighed, head bowed in resignation. "He had your journal in his possession when he died, that and this stupid red bandana." "So you did all this for him?" he replied. "Risking your life and chasing ghost stories for what?" "Initially, it was for me," I confessed as if airing my final sins on my deathbed. "When he sent me a letter of his promising new discovery, these Wonders, I was filled with a new excitement that I hadn't felt since I first ventured out to sea so many years ago. But when I saw him lying on that beach dead clutching to the pages that were supposed to bring us together, I realized what he had wanted all along. I was never the best brother. He would play pranks for my attention and when I left the sea originally, it was he who took my place. All he wanted was to go on an adventure together, like we would when we were kids. And so, for him, I hoped to take this journey and see it through." I buried my head further and began to weep. The man in the black jacket turned around and slowly walked towards me. Under the brim of his cap, his eyes dead and skin as cold as the others. He kneeled down and looked me right in the eyes. "Mother always said you were the sentimental type," he answered. "Shame I only got to see it after I died." With that he lowered the bandana from his upper lip and to my shock, it was my brother, Nathan. Stunned, I could not fathom the hundreds of thoughts I had in that moment and simply closed my eyes, my forehead on to his. "It was very thoughtful of you to come all this way to return my stuff to me, Matthew," he spoke. "But you shouldn't have taken them in the first place." "How?" I questioned. "We are cursed, brother," he answered. "Me and my crew. We entered that Wonder I wrote of in my journal and took which was not ours. We had just returned with the spoils to La Noferia, unknowing of our affliction, when I sent for you. Within a week, the others had passed, yet I held on until a few days before you arrived. I set out to that secluded cabin, hoping you would be the only one to find me there. I died protecting this journal. The next thing I remember, I awoke in total darkness confined in a box, not knowing if the utter nothingness was truly hell." As he spoke, he unwrapped the bandana around my neck and began to fasten it around his face, covering his lips, mouth, and chin, almost like a red beard. "Who knows how long I was in that coffin before they dug me out," he continued. "I was lucky, Perry was first and had to dig himself out." He pointed to one of the formerly cloaked pirates and he in turn replied with a nod. Nathan then helped me to my feet and began to undo the shackles. "They told me of a person who had taken my belongings, including the journal and my bandana. We resolved to have them chase the thief while I attempted to return here and right our wrongs. I never thought it would be you to set off and make your way here, make your way to me. Alas, shortly before you arrived through the portal, we still are unable to find a solution." As I stood, no longer obstructed by my brother's crew, I finally laid my eyes on the giant monument, the wonder that he had written of. We were just off shore and yet it loomed large in the sky. A marvel of ingenuity and splendor, it was like nothing I had ever seen before. "Well," as I began to rub my wrists, easing the previous strain of the shackles. "...come with me then. Surely, someone should be able to help us find you a remedy." With that said, I placed my hand on his shoulder and smiled, grateful to see my brother standing in front of me. "It is not that easy," he responded as brushed my hand off his shoulder. "...our minds are becoming more dull by the second. Percy is already unable to speak anymore. I'm afraid we are slowly losing our abilities to speak, act, or even to think of our own free will. While our independence diminishes, the Wonder's calls to us grow louder. Instinctually, we are finding it harder and harder to resist the powers within the Wonder. We are soon to become the servants of the Wonder and bound to protec... ugh." Nathan winced and grabbed his head. "You must go, I fear what might happen once we turn," he ordered as he signaled to his crew. "Wake your captain and use these to return through the portal." His crewmates present a few relics from their hands and offer them to me. "No, I won't lose you again Nathan," I reply as I shove their offerings away. Nathan had already turned to disembark. Catching up to him as he grabbed the rope ladder to ascend to their ship, I grabbed him by the shoulder. "You found me once Matthew," he stated. "There are other Wonders in these pages, maybe one has a solution to all this mess." With that, he handed me the journal to protect once again. "You were always better at hide and seek. Come find me again, just look for the stupid red bandana." A sudden pain shot up from my gut as Nathan kicked me and sent me to the deck. He began to climb as I sat in pain, finally reaching the rail and disappearing over. The sails dropped and the ship began to sail off. And as it reached the horizon, I swore I saw brightly colored bandana being waved as it moved out of sight. Wipe Incoming We are pleased to announce our Wonders patch will complete in two weeks with the introduction of the Great Pyramid as the first wonder for the season. We understand, due to various issues, that many have not had the best opportunities to get sufficiently prepared for the upcoming Wonder and so, we will be doing a full wipe when the patch drops in two weeks. Public PTR Access As an added bonus, we will be opening up the Public Test Realm (PTR) to the public starting today. This will be open to everyone with a Steam copy of the game until the patch drops. In your library in Steam, right-click Atlas and select “Properties” From the tabs on the left, select “BETAS” From the drop down in the center, select “test2021 - recruit testers” In the beta access code section, enter “PathfinderLifeForMe” You will then download the PTR build and will be able to access the game once that is completed. Reminder: You will have to switch back to “None” in the BETAS tab to return back to the live servers. We request you continue to help us make this the best release possible by reporting any PTR issues on our Discord channel. Please be sure to specify any issue you find is marked as “PTR Issue” when submitting. Final Note Again, we would like to emphasize that ATLAS is still in Early Access, meaning many things can and will likely continue to drastically change - even in the middle of development. Anything discussed is only up to date as of the moment it is posted. Features and changes that ultimately make it to the next patch, as well as timing, may be different from what was previously discussed. As always, we appreciate the suggestions and feedback from the community. Please keep them coming! Thank you for all of your support! 13. There are some game sounds that are SUPER LOUD and some that are extremely obnoxious I guess is the way to put it. Loud: Elevators are so loud on starting & stopping. I'm pretty sure people on other islands can hear me using it lol. Food Lodders also extremely loud every time you open them it's just deafening. Weird: When I'm out of water on my female character it sounds like she's have trouble breathing and it's like this very just odd noise, like if I'm out of water I'm not instantly going to freak out and sound like that, and the males sound like he's trying to push a poop out. Like grrrrrrr grrrrrrrrrrr grrrrrrrrr while the females just ran a mile and forgotten her inhaler. Same with when you're hungry there's just this over dramatic noise coming from the characters like it is not that serious. The Turtles sound like something evil that is about to kill you like a wolf or lion LOL. He's like hissssssssssssss snarl. Fixing a boat mini game with the Cheer or hmmmph. Like idk why this is needed lol. It's just so random. I am really enjoying this game, ya'll were amazing changing the large gates sounds lol, so hopefully we can get some noise quietness on the other things :D.
  14. Then there is the fact that the only way to restart a Linux server is to delete all players progress, it is in a terrible state. I hate to say it, but we need to make noise where we are being heard. @Jatheish said he would look into this and I believe him, but he is stretched pretty thin and we get no responses from @Rob So we need to make noise in public, on Twitter make sure to always @Jatheish and @sailtheatlas and always include #PlayATLAS in the tweet. make noise everywhere we can be heard, on Reddit, On steam, twitch etc... The squeaky wheel gets the oil
  15. so, I was able to play earlier today, but now all of the sudden it will either say connection timed out or ill hear the initial noise of the anchor dropping in water, etc... then it crashes me to xbox home screen... ive tried doing the clear cache reseting my router, all that nonsense... is this just normal? Do I have to keep trying til it works? I'm at try number 11 right now and ready to huck my Xbox out a window... but inknow its just this broken ass game.... its frustrating because its suck a good game and the concept is amazing... but why... why is stuff still be ok ng added to a game that has had the same bugs since initial release.... and worse... now stuff is broken that wasn't broken before... like npcs not following u on a ship... that was never an issue... now I'm just ramble... just curious if I'm alone in this or not
  16. Yes, the habit of the zombies going back underground is annoying, especially because they return with full health. I have put a lot into the melee damage in my bears (being careful not to neglect the health too). Higher melee means they hit harder, and so do not take so many swipes of their paws to take the zombies down. One thing I have noticed is that swiping with the paws, though higher damage, is slower than biting. So if I have a zombie down to low health and he makes that groaning noise, indicating he is about to go underground, I get the bear to start biting rather than paw swiping. Doesn't always work, but often has done. I was only able to hand-to-hand combat the zombies when I was tackling low level common maps. Anything above common, I use a bear. If I am attempting anything above Journeyman I take 2 to 3 bears. Not tried a mythical one yet.
  17. If i wanted to laugh like a loon when I danced, I would use my voice and laugh. Why force this fake laughter onto me. I hate it, take it away. When I jump now I cant make the exerted noise that comes with climbing and jumping, my char does it for me, cute but again I have my own voice. On another note, thank for not making female characters make a derpy "hullo" noise when waving, you just smited the men folk with that.... good.... gooooood! At least change the laughter during dancing, I used to love to dance, now.....meh!
  18. I'm just getting back into Atlas at a bad time it seems. I have to farm hella hard for mats to build a ship AND gold? As a solo this is just unrealistic for me. It already takes half a day to build a Brig and longer for a Galleon, now I have to burn a week or two getting gold to build them so they can get destroyed by bugs, frame drops, whales, or what have you in less than 15 minutes? Not to mention I'M the one building it, not an NPC? I understand this "USE THE TRADE SYSTEM" thing you're throwing at us, but where can I place a farm, warehouse, market when every island is riddled with when coast to coast? Why not have an NPC at free ports that can make higher tier ships, I.E journeyman and all that, for gold and let me build my ships for free which, you know, makes sense. Am I just tossing the gold into the ocean once the ship is completed? There's much better ways to make gold more important in the game than this. Have an actual player market where you can sell things like ship mats, cannons, tools, tames, whatever so you can bypass the building if you want and just buy it. Don't make me farm 18k gold for a brig that a stray whale is going to send into the ocean in under a minute when it takes me days to gather the gold needed, please? But I guess this will be labeled as "a lot of noise" because we all know you listen to your player base, right?
  19. I'm wondering if this is just me, but it happens a lot, especially when I log on to the game. So I log, and pretty much straight away before I even do anything I hear pig noises, the type of pig noise when its being attacked. I also here hissing noises so know it's being attacked by a Cobra. I then hear a heavy thud noise which is usually the pig falling unconscious. So when I usually here that after I log on, first thing I do is go to my storage, grab my armor, bow and arrow and hatchet (yeah I log off naked cause you know, game bugs and all) and go outside to kill the cobra. But every single time I find nothing out there. No unconscious pig, no cobra, no rattlesnake, nothing. Cobra can't eat the pig corpse and disappear that quickly. But I find this happens nearly every time I log on. It's like i'm being haunted by animals being killed around me!
  20. -Armored docks need to be removed from the game -puckle npc's need to be vulnerable -gold cost for self crafted ships needs to be removed -farmhouses need to be removed -no dmg penalty (ship classes) -no gun mini game -HP of shipyards needs to be lowered -a lot of special buildings are too cheap (light house, shipyards etc.) -ridden animals should auto attack -no more cool down on recently placed cannons -ships should be insta captured if beds are destroyed -structures must be capturable -small characters should get a damage penalty, while super large ones get a damage buff\ -cannons need to be pick-up-able and be placable on enemy foundation to raid efficiently -fix that bug where after u use praying eyes u cant pull out ur weapons, and increase duration -remove peace/combat mode -blueprints need to be removed -aging/hair growth way too fast -remove shaking earth effect caused by animals -no more ship crew limits -remove all chores like treasure hunting etc. from the game -players shouldnt spawn on freeports, and freeport, there shouldnt be a safe zone -remove gold cost from explosive barrels -remove ships of the damned -no more treasure maps -horses are too slow, elephants start with too little HP and weight capacity -nerf mace, shield stun, buff sword -crossbow needs severe damage upgrade -Cannon balls are too slow, and ships accelerate/stop too fast so that they can simply dodge all shots. -after destroying a warehouse you should get all the loot inside, not a fraction -bar shots need to be removed -no character upgrades like HP etc. -player name join notification needs to be removed -Tiger/lion remove his noise when he jumps
  21. I think reducing ambient noise volume in options will address this although it will also reduce other noises you may wish to hear. Breaking out animal noise into it's own seperate volume isn't a bad suggestion though. Noisy stables can be annoyance. It's hard to hear my collection of famous jazz songs covered by death metal bands playing in the background over the sounds made by all the animals. PS If you haven't heard Cannibal Corpse cover Louis Armstrong you're missing out.
  22. Just keep making noise about breeding. I am sure it will eventually be addressed. As for the moment knowing it's broken I would move on past breeding for the time being and enjoy the other aspects of the game. If you are bored then move on but keep coming back and making noise about it so in the long term it will be resolved. I gave up on taming after the first few attempts when I realized quickly how broke the temperature was. Also kept losing them to patches and the follow up patch spam on the weekends when it's the only time I would even have to attempt it. I finally realized I will just have to wait. Hopefully it won't take days either and they fix the crazy temperature extremes in every area that occur daily.
  23. oh, I so second this. the noise these creatures make should be attenuated by the water. they definitely shouldn't be so loud. heck it is anoying when your swimming next to your ship and your hear the noise. is it a shark or a guppy? they all sound the same.
  24. I was thinking about coming back until I saw it cost gold for ships. F that noise.
  25. I forgot that, your right, we made sure to have all trades prepped BEFORE connecting the routes. Also yes we did a 3way invite loop. I invited a neighbor, neighbor invited a friend, then friend invited me. This yielded 2 routes for all 3 participants. I strongly suggest you keep the markets set to private for 2 reasons A reduce general traffic/ noise/ spam/ lag generated by your markets B Reduce the load on the market "file" when 800 people send you requests Thought of a few other caveats. All 3 participants were on console My Warehouse ran out of fuel, i restocked it and things returned to normal shortly after... Lol derp
