Suggestion: A talent that allows the player to see that the area is a POI. Similarly to the marker that shows you where the treasure is buried as you get closer to it's location. Maybe some sparkles in the area? Some kind of indication that the area is a discovery. It doesn't discourage me to roam free and explore, because you have to be close enough to see it; But it would dispel the worry feeling.
I'm not sure where you put such a talent. Maybe beast mastery? Maybe it's flavored as the ability to track or something.

There is a way to find discoveries. Use the telescope. look around and if you see a shiny blue bubble, there's an undiscovered discovery. It will be an island or POI.

I think the whole skill tree needs some re-work. The order of many doesn't make sense to me.

I disabled them and the ones that had already spawned in are still there. I actually claimed one after it was disabled. First one I claimed that wasn’t glitched!

That's what I found out so far. I disabled WPE and the islands in the area I was in, disappeared. Then I traveled to another zone and the first island I went to had camps. The problem though is the one of the camps was completely underground, far enough to be below the water table. Which means that I couldn't get to it. finally decided it was a pain in the arse and used console commands to destroy all the structures belonging to the WPE and then to destroy all the pirates. Will probably have to do this on every zone I went through and didn't claim camps.

  3. depending on the cosmetic... ie the eye patch for pirate, drag it and drop it on a hat. to remove it hold shift and drag off the hat. (xbox methods are unknown to me). For things like figureheads, click on it, select use and walk to front of ship and it will snap there

  4. If you look at pictures of real frigates, the body shape of the brigatine in game is very similar to a fifth or sixth rate frigate (based on guns, 12 gun ship), I'd like to see more heavy frigates (28 or 32 guns (14 or 16 per side).

A ship of the line would be cool, something like a 64 gun ship.

I'd like to see the galleon have all the guns removed and made more of merchant ship with lots of weight

Once you figure out the workarounds for the bugs associated with WPEs,, they really aren't so bad. I've figured out how and why some of the bugs are created and try to prevent a lot of the issues. Basically, if you take over all the camps on an island without logging out or better yet, not CTDing, then most of the bugs will be prevented. What happens when you log out before completely taking over the island is that when you log back in the game super imposes another pirate camp on top of the one that was there in the save file. Any ships associated with that camp will be respawned as well, so if you took the ship out first, then proceeded to the camp, you will have to fight it again upon logging in. So, things are doubled at the camps, and when you finally take the flag, you are only able to raise one of the 2 flags, which only makes one of the camps yours, while the other camp is still locked to you because you can't raise their flag to claim it. In those cases, I use the admin controls and make the camp mine. Its simple, look at an item, a wall or door that is yellow, meaning it doesn't belong to you, hit the tilde key and type givetome, then you can interact with that object, either demolish it or whatever. Only problem with that is that you have to do that with each piece of the pirate camp, which can take a considerable amount of time. Or you can just add yourself to the faction and I guess that would make the whole camp yours, haven't tried that aspect yet.

The real glitches occur if you CTD during the taking over of an island. I've had issues where there were 3 camps super imposed on each other, and I had to fight a galleon that had no sails, or at least, no sails on top of the ship, when I went to demolish the wreck for the resources I found the sails had spawned in reverse, they were on the bottom of the ship. Made it easy killing the ship since it couldn't maneuver and just sat in one place while I pounded it with about 300 cannon balls. I didn't care. I demolish the wrecks and use those resources to repair my ships and make other stuff with, because you can't use those resources for any blueprints, and all the other stuff I farm during my gathering trips is stored off the ship at my base, to be used when I get enough stuff for my mythical or legendary ship that I will build when I get enough resources farmed.

I've had all those issues. It's totally a pain in the arse. Sometimes I CTD or get stuck and have to log out or it just takes to long and I have to log off and go to bed. LOL.
I've had up to 8 instances of a camp with the pirates stuck in between the layers. I've had puckles that were doubled up and after knocking the pirate off it, still get shot by it.

I dislike that the camps are a whole instance. If it spawns in a hill side, it puts half the camp underground. So even if you manage to kill off half the camp and the flag is not underground, you can't capture because the pirates are underground. Which makes you have to use console commands to ghost in and kill things. Just make sure you don't hit the water layer or you'll get stuck in a falling loop and have to log out

I used the "givetome" command until I realized that "kill" demolished the parts and gave me some back. This way I don't have to do two things. It took a long time to go through each piece trying to givetome and demolish so there was only one left. So, I just killed everything demolishing the camp and then rebuild a camp in it's place, unless the area is terribly hilly.

I've decided to disable the WPE last night. The camps on the island I was on and had liberated the camps, still had the flags. I haven't had a chance to look at others yet.

They could add spankers as well (same as a jib but on the stern)

They kind of have that in the handling sail. It's used for sailing off the wind and helping to turn the ship. They could make a mast with small square sails at the top and the spanker(handling) sail to make it look realistic.

  7. @SHADOW WOLFE I'm VERY familiar with the WPE glitches. When I first posted, I wasn't real familiar with the WPE. However since then, I've become quite disenchanted with them.

The whole WPE is SO glitchy.  Somewhere on here I've made lists. Everything from pirates can't be shot off cannons, only melee weapons and sometimes a tame, to the WPE ships are near indestructible. The camps seem to duplicate if you leave the island and come back as well as logout and login. The camps also seem to be a single item spawn. meaning the entire camp (building, flags, chairs etc) spawn at one time. They also don't have a check to see if the camp will be on level(ish) ground. I've seen nearly entire encampments in the side of a hill.

I do the same as you. console commands to delete everything. At first I used "givetome" to take all the things and then destroy them. Now I just use "ghost" and "kill" and destroy everything. I'll then rebuild the camp in a similar fashion or something completely new.

As for your balista, I believe you have to have them in a separate command group. If they're in the same as the cannons they won't work. Give that a try

And you have to pay attention when leading the WPEs, cause if your not keeping an eye to the front, you may run into SOTDs, and they don't care bout the WPE ships, just you.

yeah, so ran into that problem one time.

The WPE ships are just crazy OP. Yeah, keep pressure on them and they'll eventually die. I almost think you have to hit the wheel to score damage. Now that I'm thinking of it I'll have to check that out when I get home. I've blown whole sides off the ship and it doesn't sink and had to disengage to get the wind back, only to turn back (less than a minute) and it had a fixed side.

  9. Before they push WPE out to official servers they need to fix it!

    Seriously:

This crap HAS GOT TO STOP! There were at least 8 encampments spawned into that one spot.

Issues I have found so far:

    • when you discover the island the first time, WPE's will spawn in and you can easily (depending on the site) take the camp.
    • if you log out OR leave the island and come back, the WPE camp will spawn in multiple times. I have see upwards of 8 identical camps spawned right in the same place. Thankfully, only the buildings and items double/triple spawn. The pirates do not. So, you can capture the base, but you can't get to rewards because of the other structures blocking.
    • Pirates on a cannon/puckle/balista can't be hurt until knocked off, Destroy the weapon, or run up and slash them with a sword. Otherwise they'll just stand there hoping you get in front of them.
    • Pirates have deadly aim. A WPE near the water will shoot cannon at your ship... correction at YOU on the ship. The ship is collateral.
    • WPE ships are glitching in that even though they take lots of damage and even look like they're missing planks but their health bar remains full (until you disengage and come back). I don't know if the health bar is the ship or the lone crewman at the wheel. you either have to pummel the ship to nothing or kill that one guy
    • It seems to me the camps spawn in as one whole item. If the terrain is flat, perfect, but if there is any kind of hill, terrible, half the camp goes under ground. Pirates and building and everything.
    • I think that's everything I've seen or had issue with

  10. I"ve had to disengage for a bit and then turn on them. then they appear to have taken damage. They do heal and repair. Thing I don't know is whether or not the health bar is of the ship or the pirate at the helm

alternatively, you could do what I have done and sit near shore with a mortar and bombard the heck out of it.

  11. in SP, fighting the WPE, I find the nice combo is to take a good fighting bear and 2 or 3 good pig. maybe a second bear or horse (why can't bulls pull a cart??) with a cart and cannon. Leave the later outside the encampment for later busting down doors. You can ride the bear in and direct the fighting. sometimes the pigs will knock the pirates off the guns. For cannon or ballista on top of the towers, I usually bombard with mortar, or swing up with grapple and sword and smack them.

yeah, the wandering threats of Ark make it far more challenging. Although there are some islands with lots of snakes, tiger and lions that make life difficult.

  12. 'The Brigatine looks more like a fifth rate frigate, especially if you add the basic figure head bowsprit.

The galleons look kind of like the ones he spanish used in the 16th century

I would like to see the ships more representative of what would be available in the late 18th century and early 19th century.

I would also like to see them limit masts to what would be reasonable. for example like the French frigate Hermione, Only three masts

  13. WPE's don't work like you think they do.

Basically, they are static. 8 to 10 pirates per encampment and that don't do anything except shoot cannon at you if they see you, until you attack and there are usually 2 to 4 wild pirate ENCAMPMENT on the islands. The larger the more from what I've seen. If the encampment is near the shore, there is sometimes a ship doing lazy circles off shore. These range from schooners and brigatines and I've heard galleon (shudder). These ships are TOUGH, tougher that SotD in that they repair, and they'll follow you for a while if they can keep up.

It would be nice if there were some wandering pirates.

  14. The WPE (Wild Pirate Encampment) are just that, encampments. I've seen from 8 to 10 pirates at some of the encampments (bases) and  if it is some what close to shore, there is often a ship doing circles out there.  There aren't any wandering pirates, although that would be SOOOO cool.  The WPE base come in a variety, really cool, thatch lean-to's and cannon stands with puckle placements. a couple of Stone buildings with tower (which can either have a ballista or a couple cannons). A couple of wood buildings with cannon and puckle emplacements. Sometimes there is a pirate in the buildings. I don't know if this is a glitch or meant to be. If the later, doesn't make sense because you have to destroy a wall to get to him and the only way to do that is blast with grenades, shoot with a cannon (have to be on the cart since you can't place near enemy placements), bombard from a far with mortar or destroy with some tame.

The pirates will respawn at encampments if you don't kill them all or you don't claim the flag. found that out the hard way. However once you claim the flag the camp won't respawn.

Issues I have found so far:

    • when you discover the island the first time, WPE's will spawn in and you can easily (depending on the site) take the camp.
    • if you log out or leave the island and come back, the WPE camp will spawn in multiple times. I have see upwards of 4 identical camps spawned right in the same place. Thankfully, only the buildings and items double/triple spawn. The pirates do not. So, you can capture the base, but you can't get to rewards because of the other structures blocking. So, I resort to bombarding with several hundred mortar rounds or I cheat, once I capture the flag, I use the "kill" command on all structured and destroy them and carefully do the same to the other flags.
    • Pirates on a cannon/puckle/balista can't be hurt until knocked off. Destroy the weapon, or run up and slash them with a sword. Otherwise they'll just stand there hoping you get in front of them.
    • Pirates have deadly aim. A WPE near the water will shoot cannon at your ship... correction at YOU on the ship. The ship is collateral.

I think that covers everything I know.

  15. It would be nice if the tutorial was an option provided when you load into the map. instead of a hidden button.

The heat wave, while I understand is a thing, is OP at the moment. It should be able to avoid if you go into shade or dive in the water etc

@NECROMANCIE give it time, research the game and watch YT vids and ask questions here, to learn a lot.

So my buddy needed some bamboo so he sailed to an island to get some. The owners started dragging dead animals by his base and set up a cannon by his little shack and started shooting at it. They were laughing in chat and saying that was how they say hi to newbies.
my buddy then said if you give me bamboo I will just leave. They gave him 4000 bamboo so he picked up and left lol.

all he needed was the bamboo so I thought that was pretty funny and cool at the same time 😂

It's griefing and unnecessary and not even funny. They gave him bamboo, but it was probably the taxed stuff from his gathering.

This is why I won't play on the official servers anymore

  17. more boat stuff definitely. structures that conform to the sides of the ship would be nice. I dislike having to building a wall perpendicular to the side of the ship and having the gap between the end and the planks. Also, please remove the nubs from the bottom of ceiling tiles when on a ship
