  1. yeah, so ran into that problem one time. The WPE ships are just crazy OP. Yeah, keep pressure on them and they'll eventually die. I almost think you have to hit the wheel to score damage. Now that I'm thinking of it I'll have to check that out when I get home. I've blown whole sides off the ship and it doesn't sink and had to disengage to get the wind back, only to turn back (less than a minute) and it had a fixed side.
  2. I'm curious, have you tried the equivalent of the scroll wheel on the controller? In PC, (sorry don't play xbox) if i scroll in I can go to first person view and scroll out to third. I have let go of the wheel in first person to say use the telescope. Then took the wheel again and stayed in first person until I scrolled out. Perhaps this is the issue? I'd also check settings
  3. I've not seen that issue, but I'd love to know how to connect pipes to the grill from where I place the grill
  4. check your steam friends chat voice settings.
  5. Before they push WPE out to official servers they need to fix it! Seriously: This crap HAS GOT TO STOP! There were at least 8 encampments spawned into that one spot. Issues I have found so far: when you discover the island the first time, WPE's will spawn in and you can easily (depending on the site) take the camp. if you log out OR leave the island and come back, the WPE camp will spawn in multiple times. I have see upwards of 8 identical camps spawned right in the same place. Thankfully, only the buildings and items double/triple spawn. The pirates do not. So, you can capture the base, but you can't get to rewards because of the other structures blocking. Pirates on a cannon/puckle/balista can't be hurt until knocked off, Destroy the weapon, or run up and slash them with a sword. Otherwise they'll just stand there hoping you get in front of them. Pirates have deadly aim. A WPE near the water will shoot cannon at your ship... correction at YOU on the ship. The ship is collateral. WPE ships are glitching in that even though they take lots of damage and even look like they're missing planks but their health bar remains full (until you disengage and come back). I don't know if the health bar is the ship or the lone crewman at the wheel. you either have to pummel the ship to nothing or kill that one guy It seems to me the camps spawn in as one whole item. If the terrain is flat, perfect, but if there is any kind of hill, terrible, half the camp goes under ground. Pirates and building and everything. I think that's everything I've seen or had issue with

  7. I"ve had to disengage for a bit and then turn on them. then they appear to have taken damage. They do heal and repair. Thing I don't know is whether or not the health bar is of the ship or the pirate at the helm alternatively, you could do what I have done and sit near shore with a mortar and bombard the heck out of it.
  8. in SP, fighting the WPE, I find the nice combo is to take a good fighting bear and 2 or 3 good pig. maybe a second bear or horse (why can't bulls pull a cart??) with a cart and cannon. Leave the later outside the encampment for later busting down doors. You can ride the bear in and direct the fighting. sometimes the pigs will knock the pirates off the guns. For cannon or ballista on top of the towers, I usually bombard with mortar, or swing up with grapple and sword and smack them. yeah, the wandering threats of Ark make it far more challenging. Although there are some islands with lots of snakes, tiger and lions that make life difficult.
  9. Havent seen the weight issue yet, but I've seen issues with crew. Had a full crew on a schooner and a wild penguin landed and it started sinking. Wild creatures should NOT count as crew. Unfortunately I don't know how to counter the weight thing, other than removing the option to be able to board anyone ships. I believe that was a thing at one time.
  10. 'The Brigatine looks more like a fifth rate frigate, especially if you add the basic figure head bowsprit. The galleons look kind of like the ones he spanish used in the 16th century I would like to see the ships more representative of what would be available in the late 18th century and early 19th century. I would also like to see them limit masts to what would be reasonable. for example like the French frigate Hermione, Only three masts
  11. WPE's don't work like you think they do. Basically, they are static. 8 to 10 pirates per encampment and that don't do anything except shoot cannon at you if they see you, until you attack and there are usually 2 to 4 wild pirate ENCAMPMENT on the islands. The larger the more from what I've seen. If the encampment is near the shore, there is sometimes a ship doing lazy circles off shore. These range from schooners and brigatines and I've heard galleon (shudder). These ships are TOUGH, tougher that SotD in that they repair, and they'll follow you for a while if they can keep up. It would be nice if there were some wandering pirates.
  12. In single player now, the control of the island seems to have taken the place of placing a claim flag for official PvE/PvP. So, when you get done with the island the Atlas map show a green flag on the island. The wandering NPC pirates would be cool. maybe having them path between camps.
  13. The WPE (Wild Pirate Encampment) are just that, encampments. I've seen from 8 to 10 pirates at some of the encampments (bases) and if it is some what close to shore, there is often a ship doing circles out there. There aren't any wandering pirates, although that would be SOOOO cool. The WPE base come in a variety, really cool, thatch lean-to's and cannon stands with puckle placements. a couple of Stone buildings with tower (which can either have a ballista or a couple cannons). A couple of wood buildings with cannon and puckle emplacements. Sometimes there is a pirate in the buildings. I don't know if this is a glitch or meant to be. If the later, doesn't make sense because you have to destroy a wall to get to him and the only way to do that is blast with grenades, shoot with a cannon (have to be on the cart since you can't place near enemy placements), bombard from a far with mortar or destroy with some tame. The pirates will respawn at encampments if you don't kill them all or you don't claim the flag. found that out the hard way. However once you claim the flag the camp won't respawn. Issues I have found so far: when you discover the island the first time, WPE's will spawn in and you can easily (depending on the site) take the camp. if you log out or leave the island and come back, the WPE camp will spawn in multiple times. I have see upwards of 4 identical camps spawned right in the same place. Thankfully, only the buildings and items double/triple spawn. The pirates do not. So, you can capture the base, but you can't get to rewards because of the other structures blocking. So, I resort to bombarding with several hundred mortar rounds or I cheat, once I capture the flag, I use the "kill" command on all structured and destroy them and carefully do the same to the other flags. Pirates on a cannon/puckle/balista can't be hurt until knocked off. Destroy the weapon, or run up and slash them with a sword. I don't know if the health bar is the ship or the lone crewman at the wheel. you either have to pummel the ship to nothing or kill that one guy I think that covers everything I know.
  14. It would be nice if the tutorial was an option provided when you load into the map. instead of a hidden button. The heat wave, while I understand is a thing, is OP at the moment. It should be able to avoid if you go into shade or dive in the water etc @NECROMANCIE give it time, research the game and watch YT vids and ask questions here, to learn a lot.
  15. It's griefing and unnecessary and not even funny. They gave him bamboo, but it was probably the taxed stuff from his gathering. This is why I won't play on the official servers anymore
  16. more boat stuff definitely. structures that conform to the sides of the ship would be nice. I dislike having to building a wall perpendicular to the side of the ship and having the gap between the end and the planks. Also, please remove the nubs from the bottom of ceiling tiles when on a ship
  17. The trader vessel that I have see is pretty distinctive. No sails, paddle wheel small ship. Can be found wandering the oceans. I think the wiki has a list of known paths the WPE pirate ships are all black. I've seen schooners and brigatines.. They tend to loiter about near a WPE camp.
  18. even if they just had a few vendors to buy/sell stuff at it would make the free ports more interesting
  19. pretty sure you can not. It's designed as a stand alone or single player
  20. I'm pretty sure there are skills you could take to increase the time it takes to become hungry and thirsty. I've found that having a higher fortitude make hunger and thirst longer, but then you have to watch out for the vitamins. the overheating mechanic is definitely broke. You can be overheating and dive into the sea and at the bottom and still overheat. WTF? I can see being hot at or near the surface of the sea, especially in the hotter climate areas. It can get hot at sea in certain climates. Been there seen it. Thank goodness for AC in the ship. LOL.
  21. M7 has crystal on top of the ridges
  22. Ever since Single player came out, discoveries have not worked. Discoveries for the island worked, but not the one on the island. I have done fast travels and they still don't work. YMMV of course
  23. those probably belong to the on island discoveries. which don't work on Single Player.
  24. I've seen this on SP pc as well. It did catch up though. I think I ended up breaking contact for a minute or two and then came back to finish the attack
  25. this has been the standard for the SotD. I don't care that they look like misshapen yatchs, but make them have to deal with the wind. You could build a ship to basically fire in 360 degrees, I've not reached these islands yet, to busy exploring and stuff... so can't discuss them I've only had this happen once and it was on NA PvE. I suspect what happened was someone ran from the group and kited them to the edge and then I came along and happened to cross at the same spot. Thankfully for me, I had good wind and a Brig and just barreled through the ships. Most of the time, they are further away and I can turn and run from them I wouldn't mind some more story. there are a lot of abandoned building and temples, along with statues. perhaps some kind of story for them could be used to explain. A box at an abandoned town/building that has a journal explaining why it was abandoned. they have carts, I just wish that you could detach them instead of having to dismantle and remove from the creature pulling. There's even a carriage "saddle", again I wish we could just park it outside instead of treating it as a saddle. They have the WPE for "land pirates" which I like except for the bugged encampents doubling up on top of each other. I wouldn't mind some random wandering gangs of the pirates, which is what I thought we were getting with the WPE.
