  1. Well if you are not telling porkies, then i'm sorry to say your butts bacon!
  2. Fallout 76 had some of the best software programmers in the world. When it was released it was a buggy mess. And there are many games the same. Sorry but you seem to know less about programming than I know about period pains.
  3. you can use a pin code on the storage if I remember, it's been a while. Also in settings the company admin can change permissions for members.
  4. It's interesting how video games are made to help and enable players to escape the stresses of life for a while, yet whenever a monetary and economic system is introduced, the real world starts to infect the virtual one.
  5. When professionals of any profession reach a level in anything they are deemed qualified up to a certain standard. I do not believe that the people originally working on Atlas were the pinnacle of the programming world (that's not meant as a slur on them in any way either). For one it is a breakaway from an ark dlc, and for two if there was such a uniquely skilled programmer, they would probably still be working on Ark. Meaning they would probably still be available in some way. I have a relative who is at the top level in programming, when they applied for the job they have now, there were over 3000 other applicants with almost the same credentials.
  6. The trouble with fast travel is having to leave everything behind. I remember accidentally deleting a sloop mast once when I was new to Atlas and being left with no way of moving. To add to that I was fast being approached by sotd. Using fast travel helped cos I traveled back to base and sailed back to the sloop and unloaded the cargo, But it woulda been a lot easier if I could have carried a mast back instead of sailing right across the grid. And bed travelling can be really glitchy too.
  7. The biggest problem I used to have with my crew was the different time zones, as we were nearly all from different countries it was nearly impossible to all be on together. I know in a mega that wouldn't prob be an issue, but it can be for a small company.
  8. Not sure I believe that a programmer knows an entirely unique build of something in code that no other programmer can do, I mean it's not the moon landing we are talking about here.
  9. So we get ships that improve performance and armoured ship bases that decrease it? yeh makes a lotta sense to me
  10. The whole point of the road map was to get people out at sea and Pyrating as soon as possible I believe. Yet everything you are doing to the game now seems to contradict that. After playing sea of thieves I can appreciate while it is still relatively popular (although overpriced for the content) SOT does allow you to get sailing straight away. Don't get me wrong, Both atlas and SOT have good and bad points, Atlas has an npc crew for solo and small company players, SOT doesn't and I think it should. SOT also has no safe areas. But the ships are more realistic if not a bit cartoony, there are sail designs available and ship colour themes, Whereas atlas ship paint just looks rough. If both game devs took the best bits from either game, both Atlas and SOT would be phenomenal.
  11. The trouble is the pre fab ships aren't so far more realistic Pyrate ships as promised, one is definitely based on a greek trireme and the other is a disney ride style Squid ship. So this makes me a bit pessimistic for the future of Atlas ship building and it's announced move towards realism.
  12. Ship building is my favourite part of the game. However I would swap some of the build ability for more realistic Pyrate ships and decent interior design. When I first played ,the one thing that put me off from pvp were the floating fortresses that looked nothing like Pyrate ships at all, More like wooden pyramids. I don't want to play like that. But I havent liked anything about the pre fab items so far, ship or buildings.
  13. Reeking, all I can say is I hope no ones life depends on you with the amount of sleep you get eh.
  14. Of course I have been paid for a lot of the work I do, or I would not do it. But I have known companies and agents i've worked through to blatantly steal my ideas and it would be my word against theirs. Intellectual copyright is a very hard thing to prove. If you were to have your own Pyrate game in developement and you put the ideas you had for Atlas into that then the ownership would be legally your own. Since they relate to your own property, eg game. However if you state on an Atlas ideas forum that the devs should do this or that with their game and they do, then legally you are in a very grey area indeed when it comes to ownership rights. Lets be honest some of us know that our ideas on here have been taken on board by the game devs and utilised. However Atlas is their game and the suggestions we make exist only within that context. ie no Atlas or forum, means would the ideas have still come into being or have any relevance elsewhere? ie a different game. Like I say intellectual copyright is a minefield.
  15. Sorry Ranger but you can't copyright ideas for a product you do not own. How do you think bethesda got all the free downloadable content? Also an idea in itself is very hard to prove authorship of. I have been doing design work for companies since I was 16, I am now in my 50's. and if I could get paid for every time one of my designs or ideas has been used or blatantly stolen I would be a millionaire by now.
  16. I would like to say, that we have been asking for more realistic Pyrate ship types. I dont remember anyone suggesting a greek trireme or a giant octopus container !
  17. Tbh there is so much missing from Atlas now anyway. We could have rare game hunting for trophies, Fishing for rare fish. Stranded sailor quests, etc. I know the devs seem to want to hijack a sea of thieves style, but in sea of thieves you at least get your ship back if you sink. And there are more skins to get. Quests etc. Yeh sure even sea of thieves is getting complaints about being boring but that's cos its pvp based. And all the rest of the additions are secondary to that. I understand Atlas has a small dev team. But if they don't pull something decent outa davy's locker soon the game might just sink beyond salvage. I'd love to see Atlas turn around and become a really good bona fide Pyrate game. Ps cannonbait, calling pve players lazy is just dumb. Not everyone wants to do battle with abusive players and griefers when they get home from work, especially if your work is intreracting with the public all day. Some people just don't want to hassle anyone else. That is their choice. Some kids pull the legs offa spiders, some keep them as pets, and some run away.
  18. Ship building is my favourite part of the game, however as i've said before I would settle for less build capabilities for more realistic and customisable ships. The thing is a ship hasn't just got an exterior, it has an interior too. Same goes for buildings. If we are gonna lose something in the build ability then we need ships that are worth the sacrifice. That means cabin and interior furnishings and other changeable details to me. Not just hollow shells. And if that fantasy squid bucket is gonna be an example of the ships we can get, then i'd rather stick to building my own. Being an artist myself I know first hand that you can sometimes take ideas too far. I'm surprised the masts aren't giant tentacles too. look at the ships in black flag! they almost make me drool.
  19. It would be nice to see some more realistic Pyrate ships available. The fantasy theme is ok, but not everyone wants to sail around in a ship that looks like it was built for squidly diddly.
  20. With the advent of you now selling special ships at vendors at certain islands, could we please have a Fleet commander skill? otherwise I have to sail a rubbish sloop across a few grids to buy a ship. That's if I make it. Carrying all that gold. At least with a fleet commander skill the new ship could be tethered to the lead ship and follow it back to base.
  21. This has been a problem for ages, some people on here will claim to have a way of making custom sails on xbox but I have tried everything and no go. My pc sails are still fine though. As far as I know you can draw on the sails and that shows. But with the controller I have only managed to do basic shapes. It would be nice if the devs could at least give us some ingame flag and sail icons we could use and mess about with, or a way of importing the designs onto usb stick from pc would be great.
  22. We have lost players after wipes tbh, if you don't believe me look back on the forums. But that aside I wouldn't want to play a game that is like a rust on water. Games like that are just a grief fest. I don't know if they are following a road map, or just walking around a maze. But all Atlas is doing for me now is making me want someone to release an actual Pyrate mmo, and not just a revamped ark dlc that is still pretending to be one.
  23. I think that the lack of battle eye is about the only thing the xbox version has over pc tbh.
  24. Yeh but 6 monthly wipes will lose some of the already dwindling player base, and any that do remain will have to put in a lot of hours daily. Not everyone has that much time.
  25. I'm not sure that it's fair that everybody else should lose all their stuff every 6 months just because you lose yours? That's like having my car stolen and demanding that my neighbour has to walk to work too!
