  1. I don't have much sympathy for anyone who can't remember a day before today.
  2. Yeh I do, the fact I don't do gaming online when i'm on holiday is called respect and maturity. It's all part of growing up y'see. Oh and much cheaper than a divorce solicitor.
  3. Yeh with xbox you have to have xbox live too, the corporate world of gaming is cash grab, grab more cash. That's why i've always had pc's for gaming too, cheaper games and no online access charges. But I see the big shark on the horizon of pc gaming waiting to strike, don't know how long it will take them but they are moving in very stealthily right now. I'm sure all game devs care about what they do, but i'm equally sure they can also see the future of online gaming and it's not gonna be rosy for the little fish.
  4. I've used it with the npc's on the ship now and it's pretty damn good. The left joystick Does up and down sails and controls sail direction too. And I managed to actually reverse the ship and park it just using the joystick now, I used to need to do wasd. Also there is nothing stopping any pc player from using a controller, I do.
  5. Ive been using the xbox controller since the game was released and it's been fine. I've been testing the new setup in single player too and the only thing that is slightly slower than mouse is moving amounts in your inventory. The rest is the same.
  6. The only way a mixed pve/pvp could actually work is with an opt in out option in settings, some mmos I play already do that and it works ok. The problem is the bulk of points and rewards etc will always go to the pvp player cos like I say no one is gonna reward you in a game for passivity. I used to play a lot of pvp but eventually you always come across a bored player or company that decides to destroy all your stuff while you're offline. Even if they have been friendly to you all the time too. In eso you have an option to prevent attacking other players. To me that's the only way it could work. I still say imo it should stay separate though.
  7. It's not to do with the risk, most pve players just don't actually want to go round attacking other players. They might not merge the two yet anyway, even though they have mentioned it, but if they did it all on one server they'd lose a lotta players. And potential customers.
  8. The trouble is pvp will be rewarded ie grats 100 player kills etc here's a new gun.Passivism will not be rewarded, ie grats avoided killing 100 players today here's a new flower pot. You always get rewarded in games for killing. Even in pve you have to kill animals and npc to get stuff sometimes, but doesn't mean you want to attack other players.
  9. Its under phase 4 along with factions
  10. well they mentioned it on the live oops sorry nonlive stream, but there was an article on steam about the new road map and it was in there.
  11. Mind you it's good to keep reminding the devs of our views on this issue, cos it is something they are thinking of doing.
  12. The only way one whole world could work would be an opt in or out of pvp mode like some games have friendly fire on or off. The problem is that pve players don't want to pvp and you can bet that there would be certain rewards you can only gain through pvp, which means that the pve player is gonna have to venture into hostile territory to get the reward. Some people may think that's fair but a lotta people won't. Also the game started with seperate worlds for pve and pvp so to force them together now after you bought the game just for the pve would be unfair. A merge would be the pve players loss no one elses.
  13. Well for me considering the hours of enjoyment i've already had , and still to have compared to what I paid for Atlas it's been a damn good game. And yeah the devs are running a business and I totally back the xbox release, look at the way microsoft are eating into the future pc gaming market and you'll see what I mean. There are some tides you can't swim against but you can sail with them. (sorry for getting all nautical there, must be influenced by something).
  14. When I first played on eu pve I finally managed after dying of vit def and weather elements 50 plus times to get to a claimed island, I tried to speak to owners and just got sarky remarks back. So I found a patch with no builds etc and built a tiny hut. Next day I was dead and hut was gone. So I respwned and sailed to another claimed island, same thing again. After that I went to d7 lawless and stayed there. No hassles at all and a friendly island too. Lawless is absolutely fine, although you will get spamming from time to time if your island has resources that people want to themselves.
  15. I just played the new style of layout in blackwood, and as someone who is gonna be playing on xbox too I thought i'd give some feedback. First I love the ghostly ancestor pirate tutorial, don't know why but it reminded me of fable for some reason. secondly the controller now works great ,no need to use the mouse at all now. The maps are also much clearer, not sure about the new font, it overlaps slightly in the company log, but i'm sure i'll get used to it. Also the tutorials in the menu are a great idea too, really clear and easy to understand. Overall, nice job Team. Can't wait for the xbox release now. Many thx for the effort.
  16. I know steam was down for ages.I couldn't even sign in offline.
  17. If I started gaming on my hols my wife would castrate me! great if I wanted to sing soprano.
  18. I'm gonna get my wife to watch this, the bit where you said he's short he can do the repairs! Ha,You musta gone to the same school as my missus. Great vid as always btw.
  19. I play on pc with 360 controller, but I use the mouse in the inventory cos it's a lot quicker. I don't use key mapping either it plays fine just in Atlas as it is. Sailing with too many npc's is the only thing I find a bit taxing with it, but it does work.
  20. The crazy thing too is that xbox aren't exactly going all out to advertise atlas either, silly move considering the release is just over a week away.
  21. Well for me after an update I could no longer get online to play, but one that was claimed earlier was where a group member left it in an allies camp while I was offline. He never gave it back.
  22. Yeh I started a thread once about saving ships, don't know if it's possible though, but it would save all the clogging up on islands and lag.
  23. I think when you're first starting out from freeport on the raft or ramshackle sloop constantly being sunk by sotd can be really off putting, especially when you've just died 50 plus times of cold or vitamin deficiency, but a lot of us have persevered beyond that point to enjoy the game. They have to get the difficulty balance just right really. cos if it's too easy people get bored, too tough and people quit too early. Not an easy task to balance it on an mmo.
  24. It's too small 4 me to see what you mean .
  25. I'm 50/50 on the ships being easier to build. I get where they are coming from though as they say they want everyone out on the ocean soon as.....The sharks have to eat too.
