  1. D7 is awesome for lawless bases. Crocs and Snakes mostly, with the odd tiger thrown in. Lots and lots of non-dangerous life as well. I’ve always got a little base set up there, tho I spend most of my time at sea visiting and exploring.
  2. The claim system in place isn’t popular with large chunk of the player base. The reply was a bit snarky out of context. There are many players, especially in PVE who want to own islands all for themselves and keep other players off them. He wasn’t necessarily accusing you of doing so. The problem, even with all the new islands, is land is the one limited resource and it was a problem in the past for players having no where to build. Even most lawless islands where crowded. The current claim system doesn’t completely address this issue. It’s to a landlords advantage to be a landlord, but there is still nothing to prevent landlords from taking away much of the land from players who aren’t landlords. Which is happening again already. In PVE you cannot take an island from another player. In PVP you can. It is, in fact, an implied responsibility of landlords to keep resources from being blocked and prevent foundation spamming. Implied... but not actually required or enforceable.
  3. It seems to only be showing up on NA PVP at the moment.
  4. I’ve got the hat on NA PVP, but not on NA PVE?
  5. I was going to make a joke and say sometime between 12:01am and November, but they’ll probably hit the mark this time. I would expect it to be early in the day.
  6. I understand the devs though process on this. The idea is to have the players build towns, run taverns and hold festivals. The idea is for the players to interact and make the world alive instead of NPCs. The problem of course is that the game mechanics don’t actually allow players to do this!
  7. We could talk about the cool hat we got after the last wipe.
  8. As a solo player I was unable to claim a cheap island on either EU or NA despite being on within hours of the server coming online. Just not fast enough to beat out the company players. So, once again I live on Lawless. There is no advantage to living on claimed land versus living on Lawless. And somehow being on Lawless feels more like being a pirate (even tho I cannot really be a pirate in this pirate game).
  9. According to the comments In the latest captains log, Jax said that NA PVE will go live at the same time as the Easter Event. Which should be late tonight or early Saturday morning.
  10. It seems from the comments in the latest patch notes that Jax confirmed after NA Empire PVP comes down and the Easter Event starts NA PVE will go live at the same time.
  11. Sunday is a holiday. I probably shouldn’t assume that they won’t go live on a holiday. But I did.
  12. Later this week? It’s Thursday. Later this week is in the next two days.
  13. While I don’t disagree with any of that, it misses the point. Ask the OP WHY they claimed an island in the first place? The answer will probably be something along the lines of they wanted to be self reliant, wanted to be master of their own fate, wanted to have the ‘best thing’ in the game (winning so to speak). People can’t claim an island cannot have those things... they are forced to settle for less. People who play games don’t want to settle for less... there’s enough of that in real life.
  14. Attention Devs!!!! THIS!!! Here we have a company who’s claimed an island and is ADVERTISING for other players to come there. Why? Because almost NOBODY WANTS TO SET UP ON SOMEONE ELSES LAND! Your “new” claim system offers absolutely no reason at all settle on claimed territory. The only benefit is to the owner in PVE!!!!! Nice ad by the way. Except every island has resources.
  15. There is actually zero reason to move off lawless. For solo players and small companies the new mega update fixed absolutely nothing as far as being able to get your own land. While a whole lot of people (who have claims) say they want you come live on their island and they will be amazing landlords (and I’m sure some of them are) the game actually has no benefit for you to do so. You can get griefed and spammed on a owned island just as much as in lawless. The only difference is who you complain to: a landlord player or the Devs. A landlord player might be faster to respond (if they actually do at all) but can’t do anything to the other player but delete his stuff (within 24 hrs). A Dev can do more (assuming that they actually do anything at all).
  16. As a solo player, it’s totally not worth the cost of trying to own even the smallest of islands. Almost all of my game time would be involved in keeping it. Even something as small as The Shinning Isles in K7 (which would barely support 1 player) costs 244 gold per day. I have been burned by other players in the past and don’t personally know anyone who owns an island ATM. I don’t see any reason to trust another company or benefit to setting up on someone else island. True, after 24 hours they cannot delete my stuff, but can still, at anytime prevent me building more. So I’m setting up in Lawless. There isn’t any reason not to.
  17. What would the PVE player base prefer to see?
  18. Any chance NA PVE will have the old style claim flag system? Maybe make it possible for solo players to actually own land?
  19. No PVE is not PVP. The solution was to NOT PUT CLAIMS IN PVE. I’m not saying this was a good solution, simply that it’s what was being planned when the new claim system for PVP was being developed. When the PVE community complained (loudly), we got the PVP designed claim system. Again, not saying this is a good thing. But if you follow the progression it’s not unreasonable to see WHY. What is unreasonable is to expect two different systems between PVP and PVE. They are not going to do that. For the moment, meaning following the wipe, this is what we’re going to get. I fully expect that it will change over time. It’s a system that wasn’t designed to work for PVE so they’ll have to make changes... but don’t expect changes that don’t also work for PVP (except things like the raid times that can be disabled on one or the other). As far as the tax bank goes, it will be staying for the time being... you cannot claim an island without first placing one in the current planned system.
  20. We asked for a fix to everything being claimed and having no where to build except lawless. That, on PVE became everything will be lawless. Enough people complained, no no no , we must have claims. So we got the claim system designed for PVP. Now A way has to be found to make it work in PvE where it wasn’t supposed to be in the first place. The way to make that work on PvE is to somehow FORCE the claim owners to actually manage their claims and NEED players to help them. Bad owners won’t have players willing to help and won’t be able to pay the upkeep and thus won’t be able to keep their claim. Or so goes the theory. I honestly don’t think it’s going to work. And there’s enough players who refuse to live under a landlord that nothing is actually going to be solved. But face facts. Single claim flags are gone. If, at some point they have to bring them back, it will require another server wipe.
  21. The trick on PVE is going to be setting island upkeep high enough that medium sized companies will need help to pay upkeep on their first island and set the multiplier high enough that even the largest companies need help on their 2nd claim. 3rd claim should be cost prohibitive for everyone.
  22. The problem is going to be balance. This system is designed for PVP. The player or company who claims an island has to pay, through the Tax Bank, an upkeep on the island flag. They however do not have to pay upkeep on their structures. The upkeep cost is going to be based on Island size, number of resources and number of claims owned. Now in theory, this upkeep is supposed to be more than anything but the largest companies can reasonably afford on their own. Thu the island will need to be opened up for settlement by other players. Those other players will have to pay upkeep on their own structures so their contributions will probably only be the tax rate on harvesting. BUT, it’s also PVP. So players still need to build defenses against raiding, repair after being raided, and with the War system, be able to defend the whole island. Which means that the upkeep costs cannot be to restrictive. This system, WHICH WAS NOT INTENDED FOR PVE, is being implemented in PVE. Without raiding and Wars, the upkeep costs might become trivial for companies. I think you will find far more islands locked out as company only and more companies owning more islands on PVE than in PVP. Add to that in PVE their isn’t a way to take a claim from someone unless they fail to pay upkeep, Once claimed, you won’t see islands changing hands. Unfortunately, regardless of how much players complain or want a different system in PVE, they are not going to have different system between PVP and PVE. If we want claims, it’s going to be this system. We are not going to get anything that doesn’t work for PvP also.
  23. It’s not that hard to understand. This isn’t a pirate game. You can do pirate stuff, but you can’t be a pirate. This isn’t a survival game. There is survival game aspects, but it’s more annoying than anything else. This is a empire building game. The claim system was implemented to be a major part of that. The flags didn’t work. There were too many problems which seem to have been too deeply implemented in the code for them to fix properly. Instead of rewriting massive amounts of code to implement grids or whatever they decide on a change that allows for whole island claims. The new system works (in theory) for an empire building game in a player versus player game. It doesn’t work in a player versus environment. Then again, empire building doesn’t work in a player versus environment game when there is nothing in the environment to challenge the empire. It was not going to be implemented in PvE! PvE was going to become an open sandbox. The player base complained so loudly that they had to shoe horn it into PvE. That doesn’t change the fact that it doesn’t make sense for PvE. There is still nothing to challenge the building of an empire. The smaller claim flag idea is gone. It was broken and they are not going to fix it. And they are not going to have two different systems for PvP and PvE. The solution was no claims in PvE. Now that they HAD to put it in, it’s going to be “broken” on the PvE side until they have time to fix it to work on BOTH sides. I play PvE. The solution sucks. I fully expect more changes in the future. Until then, I have the same choices as everyone else. Roll with it or play something else. I’m going to roll with it. It’s technically still a beta (although they prefer the term early access, lol)
  24. The proposed claim changes work for PVP. If you claim an island, you have to pay for it. Either by yourself or with your company or, and this was the point, open it up for others to build on to help pay the resource cost. In PVP, that works because you ALSO have to defend the island. The landlord and tenets therefore must work together. That is missing from PVE. There is nothing in the PVE system to discourage crappy landlords. And more importantly, there’s literally no way to get a claim once they’ve all been claimed in PVE. Sure some claim owners might not make the upkeep and lose the claim that way... but seriously, nobody seems to think that’s ever actually going to happen. Most likely the upkeep will be set low enough that companies owning claims won’t even feel the need to allow others to build on their islands. And they don’t need people for defense in PVE. Unfortunately this is the direction that the DEVs decided on. The old claim system was broken. They aren’t fixing it. And they certainly aren’t going to run 2 different systems for PVP and PVE. They haven’t managed to get one system to work yet. Honestly as much as I didn’t like universal Lawless for PVE (as I remained optimistic that I’d eventually get my own claim) it’s a better solution than trying to put the PVP specific solution in PVE.
