No is claiming that megas can't work together even with caps. Stop using that strawman. It's a more likely scenario to have 15-20 man companies than it is 50+ man companies, even without megas being part of the equation. So that lower cap makes more sense. I'm not seeing why it wouldn't work for official. Only thing [A1] really changed are the rates and flagged specific zones for PvE/PvP and the zones STOD spawn in. Other than that, they didn't really change anything. They use all the same/current patches as official. If it can work on unofficial, why would it not work on official?

When I want to relax and/or play solo, PvE. When I play with coworkers and friends, probably Colonies because they aren't into the full on FFA nonsense.

I would love to see an EU and NA option like this. With so many zones, there's plenty of room for both PvE and PvP zones on the same world/map. [A1] unofficial mixes the two and it's pretty awesome.
