  1. Maintaining my own patch postmortem for the dev team's benefit. Nothing to really see here.

    Ramming Ship Review:

Ramming Galley should start with 25 Crew, not 14:
As it stands, the Ramming Galley does not have enough crew space for all the guns. Ramming Galley already sacrifices upgradable planks. The player should not be sacrificing critical levels meant for Resistance stat to put into crew.

Ramming Galley should start with one large, one small sail: I already dropped 22k on this beast, why do I need to also upgrade the sails right away?

Rowhouse doors look creepy: WHY ARE THEY LOCKED FROM THE OUTSIDE?

Ramming Galley is too slow; even with optimum sails: Ramming galley should be able to go above brig speed, obviously. When jibing with full sails and oars; speed should be well above  the current 18knots.

Ramming Galley is too weak: Needs more natrual resistance to work as a fleet PvP ship. Right now it appears to be good for Krakken  or small skirmishes.

BUG: Floating Name appears over the rear of the boat.

    BUG: Can't replace destroyed cannons.

BUG: Forecastle takes no visual damage.

BUG: Cargo Hold Grate is untextured/badly UV mapped.

Sorry Peg but Atlas is not a realistic pyrate game at all, torpedos, submarines, pyrates vs pyrates, pyrates building or eventually buying their ships, kraken, dragon, hydra etc. Although to be honest I actually do like the myth side of Atlas cos it reminds me of pyrates of the caribbean.

The devs said they are dialing back fantasy stuff.

  3. Hey dudes and dudettes and those of previously unspecified genders; I need your ears for a moment.

I've noticed a pretty sad trend among some of the player base, especially those who play PvE. I'm putting this thread out there, because some of you don't actually seem to be playing the game for the sake of well, playing. Since the addition of farmhouses I have heard a clatter of "this is the end of PvE, oh woe is me" and "breeding is dead how will I make money!" I just gotta know... where does that all come from?

What stops you from breeding with farm/ware houses? On that note, aren't bears, tigers, and lions still needed for maps/powerstones?

What is stopping you from manually farming? (which is faster than farmhouses!)

I feel like playing a game should be it's own reward; so if you don't enjoy Atlas activities for the sake of them; why do you do it?

Reward seeking from a videogame like Atlas misses the point. You should be playing for the sake of playing.

I didn’t buy this game to play sea of thieves. I have no interest in PVP pirate sea of thieves simulator. Do the devs not realize that PVE is the majority consumer base in this game?

I really hate to be the one to tell you this.  But, if you don't want a pirate simulator you don't want Atlas. With the exception of the living dead, immortality, and instant domestication; Atlas is a fairly realistic game regarding the age of sail. Everything a player does is to support their colony/empire or to support a personal plantation. If your goal as a singular pirate is to own a farm and livestock; that's as realistic as it can get.

Tames and riding are not going to be removed entirely. They just wont be the sole focus of the game or reason to complete content as they have been in previous seasons.

While this does cause some disruptions economy side on PvE; it doesn't stop you from doing things just do to them..... simply because they are fun.

Game is dead, just look at the Steam charts below to get an idea. Wait for New World to arrive and I'll bet money that number will go down even further.

    January 11.8k

    March 4.2k

Not even the lowest it has been historically. New World is maybe going to take fifty or so people from Atlas. It's a completely different game with a completely different feel, its full of BORING WoW esk "go collect fifty bear asses" quests.

New World aint shit. Last Oasis ain't shit.

I'd prefer they make something closer to the system in Sid Meier's Pirates!

You have factions and reputation with each faction.  Letters of Marque.  Piss one off too much and you can't enter their ports, trade with them and they send pirate hunters after you.  Though I do like the idea of sovereignty, forcing an actual PvP battle for control of an island rather than the "raid windows" they have now.

Don't like the idea of security levels.  For one, if you're an asshole in the game, there should be no safe places for you.

Pirates! and EvE have a nearly identical system. Security Levels if implemented like EvE would mean assholes have no safe place because their sec status would be too low for noob friendly areas. Security status only benefits lawful players. Players who chose to play unlawfully (like in EvE) tend to wear a bad sec status like a badge of honor. It would work for everyone.

The way he was going to do it was a lot of clan-only features, incentives, etc.  He also wanted new game modes, new (and highly exploitable) "customization" for tanks.  It was all supposed to start in 10.0 "Rubicon".  There was an outcry from community.  "Storm" ignored it.  Then a lot of the streamers, Youtubers (ie, their "content creators") revolted, saying what a horrible idea most of this stuff wasDays before it's release the 10.0 patch was cancelled.

The flipside to that is; look at season 2. That was a disaster, because Atlas players really don't know what they want/need either.

The devs need to pick systems that work. EG; Literally just rip off EvE. Security levels, sovereignty, factions, missions, everything. It wouldnt be that much work on top of the system that already is in place.

  9. I imagine things will change in the near future.

The devs cant build this game on trying to appease large companies. All it takes is one outgoing or influential person in that group to incite anger/complaints/mass quits. It works for games like Ark that can "churn and burn" indefinitely, but Atlas can't do that.

Atlas is a persistent MMO. It needs offline storage, it needs factions, it needs summon-able tames (instead of barn yards,) more changes like the loot changes from January,  etc.
