  1. The funny thing is, because of the social dynamics of coordinating/managing groups of hundreds of players, and dozens or hundreds of ships, they COULD have their cake and eat it too, but they seem to just be hung up on finding a way to make their original idea work still, instead reevaluating and readjusting, despite all of the feedback they acknowledged.
  2. Between the Land Claims, Taxes, and Mega-centric mindset of the game developers, this game is about simulating English Colonization; not about setting sails on the high seas to pillage and plunder.
  3. Well, have fun playing your English Colonization simulator, but this isn't a Pirate game, with all these companies, taxes, and land claims.
  4. Direct quote from the last paragraph of the Captain's log " We plan on introducing more features in the future to expand on how influential large companies can be with their territories, as well as additional incentivizes to be a part of the top 5 rankings ". Considering the already mega-centric mentality they started with, and that they felt it was necessary to re-iterate multiple times that, large companies are " still a fundamental part of our design and key to the game’s vision " , if that doesn't scream, 'we're going to add even more bonuses for large companies', you must be deafened by optimism.
  5. This is an English Colonization simulator, not a pirate game. Just like you said "[their] words are cheap". Your optimism overlooks both their double speak and how disconnected from reality they seem to be. They talked about how they "tailored to large companies", and " going forward, with the community’s help and feedback, we plan to make the game less punishing and reduce the steep climb required for players to reach the parts of the game which make it special. " but, like hypocrites, as soon as possible, talked about all the things they were going to do to actively help large companies, which are still a "major part of their vision". Considering they also seem to think it's only about "the climb", let me point out, they literally expect me to log in, go resource farming (the climb), let someone else get 1/10-1/3 of it, just for me strolling through an area, that they got to put down a flag first, and somehow have fun, when all I am doing is further fueling the mega tribes and streamer companies I have been complaining about, since I got kicked off my first island by a company of streamer fan-bitches, that were so annoying, they had literally been abandoned by their streamer, and he started a new company. The only "attention" they are giving to their non-streamer/non-mega player base, is lip service.
  6. This game, the developers, and anyone who read the last captain's log, and doesn't see the gaslighting and pandering, are abject failures. They claim " We recognize that the game has a lot of fun mechanics and gameplay that players enjoy, especially when you can live out your dreams of being a pirate. However, the feedback we often receive is that it’s too tailored to large companies, alpha groups, and hardcore players. A large number of you have expressed that you are unable to make enough progress to reach this stage of the game, due to our hardcore design. Our thinking going forward, with the community’s help and feedback, we plan to make the game less punishing and reduce the steep climb required for players to reach the parts of the game which make it special. This means we’re going to be changing core systems to ensure that those who do not have as much time to invest or play in small groups or as solo players are still able to experience the highs seas of ATLAS. For those of you in large companies, worry not, as you are still a fundamental part of our design and key to the game’s vision. We believe there are changes we can make which will make the game more immediately accessible for everyone and overall more enjoyable, without detracting from the heights that large and dedicated groups of players can achieve. All players will be able to experience the best parts of this humongous shared persistent world, whether you’re a solo player, a small group, a large company, or a multi-company alliance. " but, when they make sure to conclude by saying that Mega Tribes are still a fundamental part of their design, and then go on to talk about all of the great new perks they are going to roll out specifically to large companies, they clearly haven't learned a god damn thing. " Company RankingsLarge companies are very much still a major part of the vision we hold for ATLAS. We believe that being able to conquer and maintain large territories is an important part of the game and we’ll be rewarding those who are able to do so. By this weekend, we’ll have released a patch that does the following: List current top 5 companies in-game on the map (names, soon to be flags) Have a historic archive of companies for when they ruled the ATLAS, using both in-game days and real-life time Special Cosmetic Icons will be given to members of top 5 companies, which can be turned off on a per-user basis.https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1639072016https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1639071859https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1639071423https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1639071580https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1639071704 Unique Cosmetic Figureheads will be granted to the top 5 companies and will remain persistent as long as the company maintains their ranking within the top 5.https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1638966438https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1638966337https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1638965975https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1638966224https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1638966066 Resolving the bug which prevents some Company Flags from displaying on playatlas.com! We plan on introducing more features in the future to expand on how influential large companies can be with their territories, as well as additional incentivizes to be a part of the top 5 rankings. We’re toying with the idea of a neutral Company Hall, for the strongest and most influential to hold their diplomatic meetings, whether it’s over trade, peace, love, or war, because we know much you love your large gatherings ;)! " I mean for fuck sake, their "bright" idea to deal with the problem is to take one of the anti-establishment personas that western culture recognizes, the pirate, and basically turn them into English Colonial Governors. Yet again, pirates, are you kidding?! This is more like an English colonization simulator, complete with Indentured Servitude functionality; everyone got away from where they started, established claims on land, shooed off anyone that didn't join their way of life, then, once they owned everything, allow people to settle on it, for a cut of their resources. I wish I could still get my refund, after all the time I wasted, hoping they would actually realize how badly they are fucking up the large scale pvp systems, but that's what I get for not erring on the side of cynicism. Btw, if anyone wants to talk shit about me bitching, but offering no solutions, I've posted several, but the Devs aren't listening to anyone that isn't a Mega Tribe, so fuck off.
  7. The title pretty much says most of what needs to be said. The map size isn't that big of an issue, mostly just to take care of the ones, where the admin didn't advertise their server size. However, for the other two items, it's seriously infuriating. Because either I can find a game with great ping, and no players, or a game with a bunch of players, but is multiple time zones away, causing horrible latency. I get why they took it off the official servers, considering the latency to where I last heard the official servers were being hosted, Germany, but come on, don't penalize the people on the unofficial servers.
  8. Although we see differently on a couple of these issues, the only one in particular I am going to "pick on" is your #3, primarily because I think the OrganicPaste should be replaced, because let's be honest, sugar isn't used to make mortar. My personal opinion, is that they need to have you grind stone, and flint, and add them, with some water, to the mortar and pestle. Primarily because, it's still ridiculous, IMO, to have to travel that much, just to make some stone walls, but also because, IRL, mortar is pretty much made that way .
  9. I have never seen such a comprehensive rework suggestion, that I completely and utterly agreed with. My only question; am I right in assuming, the idea would be to use a trading flag to go to an NPC port, get your reputation up enough with them, to get the faction flag?
  10. So, I am not going to lie, I am not feeling like the Devs are really listening to the community. Because it is common for people to project their opinions, onto society, I was hoping people would give their honest feedback on a few currently hot topic issues, to see which it is.
  11. That's funny, because 9/10 posts I have seen, condemned the organic paste cost of stone structures, entirely, and most of them were even understanding about the metal. So what does GS do? They nerfed the metal costs by 55% and the organic paste cost by 25%, effectively doing nothing to the issue; because I still have to travel 4 servers, to get enough sugar and metal to even make the walls, but they are also still only 33% more effective than a wood wall, so there's still no point in making stone. Hell, there was even a big enough push from the community, that they had to remark about how they didn't feel land claims were a problem, because they "didn't make the game to require land", which is a farce, because you can't do anything in this game, without a spot of land to build on. I guess that's a pretty easy judgement to make, on their part, when they completely ignore their playerbase.
