  1. Or.... maybe the real players are in the game PLAYING or have moved on while the entitled players are all on the forums still whining? Like many others, I have stopped playing the game so you will not be seeing my sporadic opinion on things any longer on this forum as it really does not matter to me what happens with this game anymore. While I did get some enjoyment out of it, the game just did not hold my interest all that long nor do I feel it has half the potential of DnL (map size means little) and we saw how fast they tossed that game aside and neglected it. The first red flag that there are some serious game mechanic (basic 101) flaws is when you see 8 out of 10 players jumping in fire or seeking out another type of intentional death rather than try and meet the nutrition requirements in this SURVIVAL game and I am not even going to mention the asinine mandated fountain of youth mechanic. At this point, it does not appear that much (including preventing offline raiding) will help the decline of players in Atlas as the game is..... well, it is just not that good and many are already bored of the content and broken game mechanics. If you do not see the writing on the wall, rather than sit and argue, I invite you to bookmark this page and come back and re-read this statement in six months and then 12 months while looking at numbers. My time on this forum was sporadic, coming and going while playing the game or other games and once I post this and close the forum, I will not look back. With that said, my or any other player's absence of sharing opinion on this forum does NOT indicate how any of us feel about a specific argument or debate, it simply means we placed the priority of playing or doing something (anything) else over trying to argue with entitled complainers on game forums. One has the potential of being enjoyable, the other is a lose-lose situation every single time. Why do I say lose-lose? Given the majority of the audience that usually gravitates towards game forums that stay and linger around whining constantly about the game and demanding it needs to be changed immediately and tailored around them, spending time posting on these forums is just not productive. Well, unless you are one of the entitled snowflakes that needs that kumbaya moment where other entitled snowflakes agree with you and declares that your/their opinion is the majority simply based on others refusing to wade into the toxic cesspool after you.....For these people, it might be a win-win. In fact, I can say without hesitation that every minute I spent on this forum was a complete waste of my time including this very post given the audience it is going out to as most of the real gamers are off still trying to find reason to keep playing or have moved on to bigger and better things. While most 'normal' gamers avoid gaming forums like the plague, there are always a few of us that will jump into the entitlement mosh pit when we get bored (happens less with a good game) and bang our head against the wall a few times before moving on. We know the wall is brick, we know that brick is not intelligent and cannot have a productive discussion but we just need to bang our head against it a few times out of boredom or slight masochistic tendencies before moving on? Also Critor, it is fairly well known that people are more likely to reach out (forum post, online article comments, contacting customer service, asking to speak with a manager of a business, expressing opinion in polls ect) when they have negative feedback to share rather than positive so is it really a surprise that you see more snowflakes complaining about the game and how it HAS to be changed for them while real gamers are off playing rather than posting on a forum trying to have a productive conversation with a entitled tantrum thrower? (rhetorical question, I won't be around for the answer) I honestly think the odds of being bitten by a shark on land in the desert has better odds than getting through to one of the entitled demanders. My suggestion to everyone on this forum, use the forum to submit bugs and stop the endless complaining about everything YOU want changed and tailored around you and go enjoy the damn game while it still has some players. Happy gaming all!!!!
  2. If the exaggeration is excessive enough to be an apparent exaggeration for emphasis or effect (which this one obviously is), the typical non halfwit forum user will not take the statement literally, they will take it for what it is: HYPERBOLE.
  3. I stopped reading here but I have no doubt your reply post was as insightful and rewarding as your past ones..... Don't forget to get out and get a little fresh air and sunshine my RP/pve friend.
  4. Wow, you seem angry... I am curious Rovalis, have you ever created a post without name calling that contains legit points? I ask because you never address any of mine, actually the opposite where you ignore them or twist them to the reverse of what has been said. I think you would be taken more seriously and people might actually read your entire post and a real discussion might result if you stopped the name calling and actually addressed valid points and/or made one? Well, unless you are just here for the over-the-top bravado and name calling not actual productive discussions…. Although I have come to expect the childish name-calling in all your posts, I didn’t expect to be called out by name in a thread I have never posted in. And for the record, I do not pour over all the threads looking for anything as you stated in this thread. I am sure there are a ton of threads on the topic of large companies and offline raiding on this forum and I have only posted in a few threads and have only a few less posts than you. But hey, actual facts and things like credible statements appear to mean little to you so it shouldn’t surprise me that you continue to skew and twist while calling names, even in threads I have not been a part of. As far as generically lumping me in with others implying I like Ark mechanics and should go play it, I never cared for the game and have not played it for over 3 years so your assumptions and assessment of others is as off as your replies. My suggestion to you…. take a break and go outside for some exercise and fresh air as you are coming across as exceedingly angry and stressed in your recent posts. The constant name calling and put down of others appears to conflict with the forum agreement to be respectful and not cause disruption on the forum and perhaps may even border on personal harassment by calling people out by name in threads they are not even involved in and referring to them with derogatory names like ‘jerkwad’? I would hate to see you and all your high quality posts being tossed overboard into Davey Jones locker due to what appears to be exponential growing anger. As far as this thread is concerned (there was no put-down or name calling so I actually read the OP), I like your attitude Willard regarding the fact that your boats were wiped when you were offline so you of course will rebuild and wipe theirs. Aarrr! Give no quarter Matey!
  5. There you go again, first sentence name calling. I literally laughed out-loud over the irony of the insult you decided to use when comparing your tantrum based spew to my valid points. Needless to say, I cannot address any of the tainted spew that likely followed the first sentence of your post as I didn't read any further but did want to thank you for the laugh, it was priceless.
  6. Another poster that comes in ignoring what someone has already clearly stated multiple times on this forum stating the opposite of the poster's actual preference. As such, you get a response to this first sentence only as I stopped reading here rather than following you down the delusive twisting rabbit's hole. I have already stated multiple times that my company does not go out of our way to offline raid (it's even in the segment you quoted for your spew) but we also do not do global shouts-outs to see if everyone is home and pencil in a raid on someone's calendar. My company is made up of adults that work and raid in what many (not all) would consider the 'prime' time. If you wanted to know my 'preference' for offline or online raiding, you could have simply asked. As a true PVPr, I (and my entire company) will always prefer a battle when all sides are actively playing, always. Now go scuttle away and ignore the next poster's statements/stance and twist things until it fits your biased agenda.
  7. I think that is his point. You want the numbers but numbers bring the risk. Go for quality, not quantity. Be more selective and screen better or only recruit members known by core members of your group that you trust ect. Keep an eye on those in group that are endlessly complaining about your company and showing signs of being unhappy before they decide they are fed up and leave that door open for the enemy. I have seen so many larger companies and allies of the mega tribes open recruiting in freeports and the only question I was asked on my alt was, do you want to join our big tribe and the only qualification I needed to fulfill was accepting an invite. This is a recipe for disaster and I have little sympathy for companies like this when it does happen as they did nothing to prevent the writing on the wall, they were too busy supplying the paint for the graffiti.
  8. Gotta love those that label everyone that doesn't agree with them as a big bad meanie offline raider. I agree with the other poster's comment that demanding specific hours of 'no raiding' does not work when many of the players have different work schedule and time zones and for the record, I do not enjoy offline raiding nor do I get a buzz from it. Glad you have already had enough and quit the game, gives you more time to whine on the forum about a game you no longer play. priceless
  9. The first line of your post, all assumption ignoring the reasons I have previously stated for defending, and the last line of that first paragraph which slings a very incorrect political title at me, shows your true hand so I will not waste my time addressing all your tainted spew, just the couple points in this first paragraph before I stopped reading. And as an fyi- there are very few posts I literally stop reading without finishing but past experience has demonstrated that discussions with people that begin their posts ignoring your previous points while throwing incorrect political labels out are never productive conversations so I do not waste my time on them. As already stated, my company does not go out of it's way to offline raid but at the same time, we do not do global shout-outs to pencil a raid appointment on everyone's calendar, especially if this is a retaliatory action. No, I am not vehemently defending offline base raiding simply because I benefit from it, I am defending it as this is a survival game and not every company has matching work schedules or time zones to know what day or time to raid someone nor should they. This is a pvp pirate survival game where the devs (with forethought) intentionally set up the game mechanics to allow raiding at all times so if this is not your cup of tea, they also set up pve servers where you are protected from raiding. As with most survival games, surprise is often an element of a successful battle so announcing to your enemies your are coming and waiting until they have all their players online to raid is more of a pve mindset, not a pvp pirate survival game mindset. Even if the devs would give in to the pve wanna be pvp player's whining demands and change this, it will never be enough as next there will be demands that 99.9% of all people would need to be online or whatever the next ridiculous demand will be. Regarding my lack of 'empathy', again, this is a pirate pvp survival game not a Dr Phil episode with an abused spouse as the main guest. And regarding those less fortunate than myself, anyone can do what I did, start out solo and if that plan is not working, adapt and make or join a company. Oh wait.... spoon fed entitled snowflake people do not have this capability as they are too busy making 'woe is me' posts insisting survival games be changed to their demands rather than adapting to the game like I did.
  10. While I have been having fun in game, I see you are still forum warrioring. As already stated, this game is not about scheduling an appointment to make certain someone is not offline when you show up to raid nor is it about sitting on their doorstep waiting to see if they are busy raiding someone else or sailing before you begin your assault of their base. Your mindset is so pve that I still think one of the pve servers would best fit your playstyle. Well, unless your 'fun rules' involves having something to constantly whine about on the forums, then I see the pvp server being a good fit for you. Some of your definitions certainly differ from mine. For example, griefing to me is not playing the game according to the mechanics and raiding a base. Griefing tends to involve someone going out of their way to annoy someone and it often involves repeat behavior. In this situation, offline griefing to me would be someone that attacks your base nightly not allowing you time to rebuild when there is little reward (materials) to gain. Now.... if there is a set purpose in this action such as you attempting to establish in a territory of this other company then even the term 'griefing' here might be subjective as not allowing you a foothold might just be a good defense strategy in this SURVIVAL game. Someone that has a different play schedule (for whatever reason, time zone, work schedule ect) that doesn't bother to schedule an appointment to make sure you are home to raid your base is certainly a player vs player (PVP) action as they are not attacking an NPC camp/base nor are you being raided by an NPC company. You need to think outside the context of a player vs player 'fight' where two people are actively engaged in combat. You were raided by another player, not an NPC. As I can tell you are someone that simply wants to twist for purpose of arguing (your statement that 'I' place my fun value on raiding offline when I already stated my company does NOT go out of our way to raid someone offline), I have little doubt that you will see anyone's point but your own as you appear to have a very biased visible agenda.
  11. So everyone playing this game should abide by YOUR sense of fun????lol Although this game is described as a pvp survival game, there is much more to this game than 'active pvp' and raiding and resources are a big part of survival. I know a lot of people that simply take pleasure in pillaging and plundering and destroying things (this is a PIRATE game after-all) so your definition of fun might simply be different from theirs. There are a lot of people that play this game for resources so if they are successful in a raid getting those resources, the sense of accomplishment (subjective fun for some) may be the same even without someone defending what they were attempting to take. These resources will likely be used for fun against the next company they are attacking that may all be online defending. Just because your sense of fun may differ from someone else sense of fun, this does not mean everyone in this game only has fun according to your 'fun rules'. While my company doesn't specifically target those offline, we also don't set up a calendar invite nor do we sit on that doorstep. The morning we log in to an offline raid in progress, I promise you, our guys HAD fun. We also retaliated against one of the chinese companies that originally attacked our base (could not locate the other) and we didn't give a crap what their schedule was, we did it on our time, a time that was convenient for us and yes, we certainly had fun. Bottom line, don't try to mandate your sense of fun to others and perhaps you should have looked into the mechanics of this pirate game before you made the purchase rather than purchase it and complain about how it was designed? Sigh..... I realized after writing my last post that the person I was responding to is an RPr attempting to play this game as a solo player and is angry about being raided. In hindsight, I feel that trying to have a productive conversation with this type of person regarding the mechanics of this game is about as effective as having a debate on why the 13 year old adolescent girl with a bright pink neon skirt outfit that decided to go to the front lines of a battle without gear and a weapon is not a good idea. As someone that has played solo in other survival games like DnL, Conan Exiles and Ark ect, I knew this game was not structured around solo play before I even purchased it. Nonetheless, I started out solo and after a few base wipes in lawless, I took off my neon pink skirt and adapted. I suggest everyone whining about the big mean mega companies or offline raiding do the same. ADAPT- SURVIVE
  12. In my experience, those that have a difficult time countering with valid points will often resort to either insults or sarcasm so as you seem to be one of these individuals, let me stoop to your level and respond in kind. As you appear to be implying that those online should only attack those currently online, maybe those who are online can simply knock on doors of those they want to attack to see who is home and wait a couple hours on the doorstep just in case the intended target is busy raiding somewhere , collecting resources or sailing? Perhaps a global shout-out to let the group know you are coming and to check all of the player's time zones or work schedules and get something penciled in on their calendar? Oh, and if you are out sailing and see a base you want to hit and someone from that base shows up while you are sitting on the doorstep waiting for someone to appear before initiating the raid, don't engage- stop and ask how many of their company is sleeping as who knows, maybe the company is made up of US and EU and half might be sleeping when you want to raid and we certainly do not want to add semi-offline whining to the forums. Gotta love all these pve players that want to hide behind the facade of a pvp title. My company took a small island and spent the day moving a lot of resources to the new island and was hit hard the first night by a chinese group after everyone logged. We lost everything we had as we focused more on the base than on our defenses. This was OUR fault for having weak defenses, not those attacking when we were sleeping. Instead of running to the forum to whine about offline raiding, we placed our energy into defense. The next night we were hit again by another (different) chinese group but the defenses we now had in place stalled them enough that two people were able to stop the raid in the early morning before the enemy got too far in by spawning into beds on one of the mortar platforms they failed to take down. We sunk their ships and ended up coming out ahead with salvage. Yes, two people that work days actually made an effort to log in before leaving for work as they know offline raiding is a thing (much more productive than whining) and they quickly handled a raid in progress with the defenses we had in place. Keep in mind, we only had defenses that could handle this offline raid because instead of coming to the forums to whine about how unfair offline raiding is, we focused even harder on placing manned npc cannon towers and mortar platforms around the entire island to spawn in on, added a lot of NPC puckles around the base and some of the players in our group (myself included) adapted by logging in earlier than they normally would or before work to check the island. We also added a couple of EU players that would be online during times many of us are not. Every day some time is spent on adjusting and/or adding defenses or farming gold for all our NPC defenses and no one has made it into our base again, we simply wake up to a lot of messages that start: 'your company killed 'x'. If a large company with a huge fleet comes in, they will very likely get through all our defenses but it will not be an easy task for them and we will go down fighting. Every single player in my company had the choice to join a large mega company and we have had offers to merge so we cannot complain if we lose what we have to one of these larger groups, our play-style was our choice. If more of the entitled silver spoon-fed crowd would spend time adapting and adjusting to the mechanics of the game rather than complaining, we ALL would be better off. My suggestion to everyone is to stop whining about offline raiding and focus that energy into defenses. If your defense cannot handle the resource you are trying to secure and retain, then you deserve to lose it. Just because you settled somewhere 'first' does not mean you are entitled to keep something- EARN IT. This is a survival of the fittest so adapt by taking a less attractive /more remote piece of land, focus on defense for when you are away or offline, make/add nearby allies, add players with different core playing hours, grow your company, merge your company, or go make a new character on the PVE server as you do not understand the basics of a survival PVP game, you only understand your whiny entitled snowflake version of it.
  13. ??? Because you are the one whining about the game mechanics working as intended. I do not understand your point. I assume you are saying offline works both ways as there is always someone sleeping when others are awake?
  14. Crafting a wooden spear takes place on a freeport within the first few minutes of playing the game so if a fleet of galleons were heading toward you, you were safe in the freeport.
  15. So you can live on the island you are whining about being forced off? It is a pvp game which always centers around valuable resources. Land is a valuable resource and if you cannot take and/or defend it, you have nothing to complain about as there were pve options on your login screen as well as the option to join or form a larger company to secure and hold land.
