  1. It happening with me, when my crew or tames stays on 2nd floor deck and somehow floating above deck (happens sometimes) and I get above them.
  2. Right now I don't have any available single skill point to spend em for better quality tools. Weapons. Or armor. And I wont have any for at least 10 more lvls. I'm now at 53. I have cap at 58. So I need around 175 more discovery points and after that get myself there to lvl-cap, to finish leveling all I need in captaining tree. Only after that I'll be able to put some skills to anything else. To higher quality tools for example. With current leveling speed it will happen in... well. Couple of months I guess? And until then - I do treasure chests. I take gold. And I throw away all blueprints I get. I threw more than 100 of them already from fine till mythic quality, and I'm not going to stop : )) What a waste! Because I just can not use even fine tool and I wont be able soon : ) So... I guess I might be a good idea to let us use them with no restrictions. But as I mentioned in this thread: Tames now just so good, and compare to them - tools (weapons, armor) are so bad, so right now - it's just total waste of time, and skill points, trying to play with tools and (omg) spend weeks to craft all those mythic things.
  3. I'm Russian, and I'm not seeing Cyrillic text in game. Instead I also see this "◘◘◘◘◘◘" kind of text. Not sure if I wanna put anything from workshop in to the game right now tho...
  4. That's might happen in PVP. But in PVE mode - some battles may lasts for 20 minutes with couple of maintenance full sails streight.
  5. Same here. Just... I use Brig with 4 xtra cannons each side. The highest Galley I down so far is lvl-26. Highest fleet of 7 at once (they were Schooners lvl-3, lvl-4, lvl-12 and lvl-17 and Brigs lvl-2, lvl-10 and lvl-13) But I actually was a bit damaged after that last fight and went back with just 2 sails : )) Before wipe the Highest SotD I down was lvl-36 and lvl-24 at once. What I do wanna say - I personally don't feel all those shotguns are really required in PvE. (the only feature I do want to - is to control spread of cannons hit area. Right now it's just too wide and in most cases I need it more compact).
  6. As I mentioned before in PVE - the main problem for medium cannons right now, is the trajectory of cannonballs goes parallel to eachother. So if there is damned schooner, or damned ship goes towards you, or it just far away, half your cannonballs will hit the water, because hit area line is just wider than enemies ship. Like that: So right now I would LOVE to see THE FEATURE that allows me to reduce this hitting line (guns are swivel anyway right?) I'm not saying to shoot the very dot in my cursor (in some cases even this would be useful) but at leas shoot some area closer to the cursor (we don't damage SotD's parts anyway, while in PVP wider range would be usefull, so we MUST control this!). p.s. - While I never use large cannons and didn't even feel the changes, I do feel that guns SHOULD BE LIMITED IN TO GUNPORTS but for that: DECK, NOSE and STERN gunports are requested. They might be like that: Or even something like that (I'm NOT a photoshop master, but I did my best lol):
  7. Well... the guy created a post here about "hand harvesting skill is useless because we do "hand harvesting" just till 6th wood and after that using a tools". Next day, with next patch, they change the skill so it affect tools harvesting too.
  8. Most of time it's in Tundra and Polar. I once saw 4 fog waves and 1 coldwave, which is also dramatically reduces visibility, within 24 ingame hours. It was like that - I entered H2 for 2 treasure maps. - After I entered - 1st fog came. By the time I hit 1st island - fog was gone. - I then got Damned Army. Dig treasure. Went to discovery and before I departure - 2nd fog wave appear. - By the time I hit 2nd island - fog was gone. I again got treasure, search for discovery, and, before I departure - coldwave hit the area. I stayed on island, gather some resources, did maintenance of ship, cocked some dish, and due to long time of coldwave - I decided to departure anyway, hoping, it will pass in a moment. - I raised full sails and... 3rd fog wave hit the area. I laugh - I just couldn't help myself. With 0 visibility, I sailed to the border. In the middle of the map - there was clear and shiny weather, but... well, the moment before I cross - 4rd fog wave came... I don't like - how often it happening. I also checked - within 24 ingame hours "clear" weather lasts for just 6 hours... I never saw fog drops less than 3 times per day.
  9. That's good point, but... well. In this state of game - I don't think it's possible to somehow do it solo, or with small company, without using a "game mechanics grey areas". And yet - here if another problem. You do everything effective way by tames, and then you drop all, for riffle. You have to gather resources for ammunition and repairment, and food for crew, just by your feet. Because you picked riffle. And that's what I was about. I wish to become great rifleman for example, and yet to have some ways (not easy ways maybe, but they must exists) to do all other stuff without tames.
  10. 26) - We played DUO, and 2day I guess I lost my teammate. We were on our long way to get lvl-50 Galley of Damned and for that we had to max-lvl our Brigs and get a lot of skills (that means - a lot of saling, discoveries, and high lvl treasure for personal leveling). So here is my teammate story: - I was on my treasure mission, I've been sailing along the border from I2 to B10. I just started my journey. Got northern border of I2 and went east. After I crossed from I2 to H2, after server loaded, I found myself inside of damned Galley. My ship was stuck. I couldn't turn, couldn't escape. All my control didn't work. My guns didn't do anything, while Galleys guns damaged me a lot. This Galley carried me from the border to the middle of map, where my ship started to rotate insanely fast inside of this Galley. I tried to go for planks, and my ship just ejected me to the ocean. All I could do from this point is to watch this enemy Galley carry my ship away from me. After a while, I got message that my ship sunk. The ship I was leveling for couple of weeks. So right now, I have to tame another bear. Then gather another resources, then build another ship, then hire more crew, then make them clothes... and then, start over leveling my ship. Start from the beginning. Where I was couple of weeks ago. And I just don't wanna to. I'm not here for play constructor. I'm no here to play lumberjack. And I just don't see any reason to start over, because I probably won't make it. The game just wont allow me to level my next ship and do the quest. Best way now, is just drop this game and either wait couple of years, or never come back. They didn't able make ARK fork fine, you know? (end of his story) So I guess I'm solo now... sad. By the way. I've been thinking of all my ships I lost. And I came to that. I lost for about 20-30 ships since EA release. And I didn't lost a single ship in real battle. All my loses were to game bugs. Like ship twitched after I unanchored it and hit pier so hard so half of planks were gone. Another time I stuck in to invisible wall near whale, receiving damage to first two planks. The only way to escape the trap - sail through THE WHALE itself which was suicide way. Another time ship ejected me to the ocean during the battle. 27) - I found that when I go clinch with damned ship, all my crew from clinch side, drop their guns and stay near them. So if it happen, I then go full sail speed and walk through my ship to assign crew to guns again. Is that a bug, or it has to be this way for some reason? I wish they stays in their station anyway... 28) - Ok. We have medium cannons that can rotate within some angle right? But when I aim (and I always do it myself, never use auto aim), all guns point in parallel direction. Like that: So if damned ship goes towards me, or if it's just a schooner of damned, or it's just far away - some of my cannonballs will miss. Because my parallel hit range - just wider then my target. So I do really want to see the feature in game which allows me to control - how wide my target range will be. And trust me. Most of my time (maybe all of my time) I will use something like that:
  11. Renewen eastern Tundra also have one. We started at M3 Sunview Chan, and there are a lot of them under the statue, east of island.
  12. As far as I understand - bow-hit to fire elemental, cancel their fireball cast, and it meant to be this way - few guys from group hitting him with bows, another ones - with other ranged weapon. So... well, not sure if you go there alone or within few ppl, with hope to kill something big without using holes in game design...
  13. First I put this message in to my suggestion topic, but the message turned really big and it's very important. So I decided to write one as new thread. There is huge problem with game balance. And this problem is - there is totally NO ALTERNATIVE to tames. Before I start - I wanna say, I play PVE. So I'm gonna speak about PVE aspect of game. Building. Adventures. Fight wild life, and damned armies. Current situation like that. If I wanna fast and safe travel through island searching bottles, or resources - I ride a bear. I wanna gather some resources - I ride a bear. I wanna build something - I ride gathering tames (elephant, giraffe, bear). I wanna fight damned army. I wanna protect my base from wild animals - I ride a bear. Some say - that's because bear is too strong. But for me - it's just everything else just too weak. Here is example. I spend A MONTH building mythic set of armor. I kill more then 400 yetis for mythos. I sail around the world searching different kind of resources. And after I done, I summon damned army lvl-95. Will I be able to tank them in my mythic armor? No. They just kills me in few second. And when I lose it? I have to spend one more month, to create new set. More around the world for resources. 400 more yetis. Or. I can spend 20 minutes to tame a bear. Then summon lvl-95 damned army, tank and zerg them within one minute. And that's it! Oh, if I lose my bear, I then in 20 minutes will ride another one. So the situation is a bit stupid right now here. You use a tames, and you king. You don't use tames and you screwed. I see just one solution for the whole situation: Player must not choose: "I use them, and I good. I don't use them - and I bad". INSTEAD Player choose "What way I'm gonna do things in game?" And the only way to achieve it - rebalance all. How would I do that? Tames: 1) - I would give ability to tame a horse, ride it, and create simple cargo carriage to everyone. Let it be in this "basic tools" skill in first survival skill-tree. So if players wanna go alternative way without tames, they will be anyway able to do fast travels, and carry some stuff through the island. Island riding and stuff carrying - is one is most important aspect in a game, and it's bad idea to greatly improve it via some skills. This way this skill became no alternative must have one. 2) - I would cancel all tiers in tames skill-tree. Instead I would do 3 separate section. One - for skills like nature touch or cry. Another one - for resources production and gathering tames, and all skills related to better resource gathering and production. And third - for battle tames, and battle skills there. This way players can choose - to gather by tames and fight by tools. Fight by tames and gather by tools. Do everything by one of two ways. 3) - I would make tames weak at the moment of taming. And only after leveling, they get damage, defense, effective gathering, etc. So players have to put some efforts to make their bear gather good amount of fibers, or fight high lvl damned army. Tools: 4) - I would make mythic quality tools to match or even exceed tames. It's like that. You can take the weakest bear ever, go to freeport and gather 20k or nameless fiber in just a minute. And no matter how mythic sickle you have - you wont ever gather that much. You can tank damned army any lvl with your bear. And no matter how mythic armor you have - you wont be able to do the same. You can kill damned army with a bear within a minute. And no matter how mythic you have sword, spear, bow, pistol, riffle etc, you wont be able to do it same way. And that's the alternative I wanna see. I choose - I go tames-skills, I level my bear and gather fibers. Or I ride my basic horse and gather fibers with mythic sickle the same or maybe more efficient way. Oh. And for p.s. About skills. I'm now on my way to lvl-50 Galley of Damned quest. I picked necessary skills of tools, wooden buildings, ship construction till brig, basic cannons, resources gathering, and put all in tames. After that I had just few points left for captaining, which is also requires to up my ship and fight high lvl SotDs. Right now I'm at 53 lvl, and I need around 10 lvls more to get all I need in captaining (without rally and overdrive I don't think I'll be able to done the quest). So because of tames ate most of my skills I just can not try everything else. I do treasure maps for gold and exp, and I throw away all blueprints I get (well except common gray ones). Because I don't have any skills to wear even fine quality tolls and I won't have em for a long time.
  14. Errrr... guys, right now wind is TOTALLY PREDICTABLE. It's just slowly rotates clockwise and changes it's strength from week to strong and back. During rainfall - It also rotates clockwise but a bit faster. After rain is over - it goes back to where it was before rain. That's it. So you plan your journey, knowing that. Sometimes I do a bit farther routes, but because of wind - I go there faster.
  15. Not sure how many time will pass before some1 actually hit lvl cap. I dunno why, but DEVs dramatically increased leveling time for ships. For example. I just up my Brig from lvl-35 to lvl-36. It took me: - Around 30-35 SotD's (highest ones were lvl-36 Schooners, lvl-26 Brig and lvl-11 Galley). And yeah - I spent around 5-6K of thatches/woods/fibers for repairment, and around 1200-1500 cannonballs to deal with SotDs. it means - 12-15K metal, way more coal and flint. - Additionally around 9-10 hours of pure sailing. I just wanna say, it also take some time to farm materials and create ammunition, to farm food for crew, and yet I also need to do discoveries to gain my lvl, there were 2 force majeure situation (like once I hit camping whale while passing the border, and instead of hunting mission, I was on repairment one and spent half of day to rebuild what this whale destroyed). New better guns to hunt higher SotDs (that also means - gather different resources missions etc). Overall - around 3-4 days per 1 lvl. And this one is not highest (that means - close I get to lvl cap - more exp, more time I need for each lvl). With this state - I'll hit lvl 41 in apox. 2 weeks. Then I'll go to see how many xtras added my 124% legendary shipyard. Few weeks more I guess... So maybe guys with NO LIFE and those who doesn't do anything else in a game - just farming ammo and repairments resources and then go SotD hunts all day long. Maybe them will have the answer sooner (of course if they wont loose their battle ships to a game laggs). Like my Brother today - he was in the middle of his fight with SotDs when game crashed. Then he experiences all connecting laggs. Timeout-Login loop, forever black screen, etc. After he able to join he found his ship full sails into iceberg. He hag just half of minute to react. If loading laggs last just a minute longer - he would hit iceberg and then - start over with new ship...
  16. Right now in renewed Eastern Tundra there are so gently sloped sea bottom, so sometimes it has to be built extremely far in to ocean (like 10-15 of large shipyards length). And I had to check depth there to secure my ships. So... I found that 4 pillars deep - is just fine for safe Brig release. For Galley... well It might be like 6 or 7 I guess. I wouldn't build one if there is less than 7 pillars. (I wouldn't build one at all actually : )
  17. 25) - Yeah... I knew sometimes SotDs are stuck into island, but I didn't expect to see THIS right in my (EU PVE I2 Millertown) Village. And yet - I was on my discovery mission in H1 today and found another whale stuck into iceberg. (p.s. - Regular swivel ammo doesn't do anything. Gangster shot - around 300 damage. Flamethrower - 1 damage per tick. Sickle - 15 per hit. Spear - 30. Tames do not land any damage).
  18. Although I agree, I also remember old Russian pirate game called Corsairs. There were 6 classes of ships there form 6th (smallest one) up to 1st (biggest linen ships). And as far as I remember - the fastest there were ships from 3rd class (called Corvettes - they were pretty big one).
  19. It actually make sense. Last time I had this slope wall next to my door, with nothing a top of it. And I was ejected while I was close to it.
  20. Ok. So I play Duo and we were at kraken before wipe. It's actually not that extremely difficult. It requires 4-8 Brigs with ballistas and 1-2 battle Galleys. Then it just go as easy as it can be. No special skill needed - as Brig you just go 1-2 ballistas shoot to a tentacle and then do just a regualr SotD fighting around. As Galley - just sail by Kraken and shot him then do turnover for another shoot. As an MMO - there is a way to do it - there are tons ppl around and tons battle Brigs and even hundreds of Galleys. We had few problems tho. 1st - Laggs (server could barely handle that amount of ppl). There was also a lag of randomly killing ppl inside battle. 2nd - Gathering. There is just no way to gather this fleet for a mission in game. Just no instruments for this. So we had to do it via forums and steam app. 3rd - Trolls. Because of we've been gathering for a week and alot of messages were here on forums, trolls also went there and did whatever they could to make us fail (for example they summoned Kraken before all gathered for several times and then did they best to stay inside battle circle for whole hour). So my opinion here is simple. Instead of allowing all solo/small companies players to just obtain reward without fighting - allow them to fight (we here for adventures, right?) For that: 1) - It needs all buggs to be fixed. 2) - There must be an instrument (some group gathering feature) allowing players to form a fleet and in right time - sail to mission. 3) - There must be some trolls protection, so if ppl go on mission, they could get to the place, form a tactic, do battle formation and start a battle with no interference from other players.
  21. 22) - I still don't understand - what are barshots for. IRL - they were against sails and ropes. Are those in Atlas work the same and made just for PvP battles? 23) - What if fire (from campfire, torches, grill, etc) would dry your clothes (and you) way faster? Like it happening in real life? 24) - While I do love to see snowfall in tundra, I totally don't like the sound. I live in Russia and I do see a lot of snowfalls in winter - non of them falls with this howling windy sound. And especially this kind of peaceful with big flakes snow, like we see in a game. So my suggestion - make it not that loud. And use different king of sound sample. For example this one: https://www.soundsnap.com/amb_ext_freezing_rain_01_wav
  22. No, it's not about that. It's way faster turns than before wipe and I'm not talking about full speed. I'm talking about battle maneuvering. Right now I literally can turn around my heel, during the battle. It's just insane as fast (I mean I like how it goes right now but in real life that turn would throw everything from the deck to ocean : )).
  23. I did not test anything. I don't even explain to myself why I use one, but I did my Battle Brig with 2 SpeedSails and 1 HandlingSail. And, I'm not sure whether because of ship rebalance, or because of handling sail, but my Brig turns insanely fast. Way-way faster then schooner with large SpeedSail and small Handling one.
  24. But it's ok to receive some damage. That's why experience, and tactics need. To find a right angle, right wind and approach them... There is a skill in ship's skill tree that's reduce incoming damage (I have it on 180% right now).
