  1. I don't play pvp, but it seems like they are getting the worst of it with these flag changes. That's because I have NO desire to live under someone else's flag. Small companies/solo players will have it the roughest with this change. I could be wrong, we'll see how it goes after the patch drops....well I won't, pvp players will. For pve I think the changes are good. Although I will miss the claim flags and think they really need to come back at some point, the repair structure sounds like a good solution to controlling abandoned bases and pillar spam. I'm assuming that they will have a certain radius or AOE for repairing structures. People will not only have to login to refresh timers, but will have to visit each of their repair structures and fill them up. This SHOULD help to control pillar spam....again, only time will tell.
  2. Somehow I doubt that the patch will be released 1 week after the PTR goes up. I know that's the plan, but bugs will be found and they will need more time to fix and test them on the PTR.
  3. I have 840 hours in the game (not 1000+ though) and I'll be staying, so I must be in the half that you're not talking about. Maybe I was away the day they asked everyone if they were staying or leaving? Or maybe I just wasn't asked because I'm not over that 1000 hour mark? Either way, I'll just stand over here next to everyone else that's staying.
  4. I've decided to start experimenting with different ship builds. With the 6x gathering, you can do quite a bit of experimentation with different configurations. Also take advantage of the 6x for taming animals you haven't tamed yet to see if you actually need them or they fit your play style. And I'm gonna start spending my gold like there's no tomorrow, because for my character...there aren't too many tomorrows. That's what I plan on doing anyways.
  5. The game needs some sort of matchmaking system similar to Warcraft's LFG (looking for group). Players could play solo, but when they wanted (or needed) to group up for things like the Kraken, they could. Just do an in game search for people that are looking to do the same task and you will be put in a temporary group to achieve that task. You would be playing with randoms, but it would also be an opportunity to meet decent players and possibly find a good company to join. I'm sure you have at least one Warcraft player on your development team...just ask them how it works exactly....I won't be able to explain it properly.

  7. People leave their homes? Well I'm certainly not going out there to find out!
  8. Not such a bad idea. I won't be playing much until the wipe, so either way it doesn't really affect me.
  9. I don't like saying that they don't care about pve, but it does seem that the developers are definitely pvp minded. If they don't have someone on staff that is pve minded, then they need to hire one....at least one. We don't know all the ins and outs of the new systems, so hopefully they will have taken the decay on freeports into account when designing the "shops". And hopefully we won't HAVE to travel to freeports in the first place. I'll wait until the update actually drops before I start freaking out.

Hey, that's not actually a bad idea.
  11. Wow. I'm not gonna waste my time arguing this with you. If you don't want to hear other people's opinions, then don't post on the forums.
  12. If you want PVP, go to a PVP server. Don't force it on people that want nothing to do with it.
  13. "PVE NEEDS TO HAVE SOME SORT OF PVP INTERACTION" No it doesn't.
  14. I also have lost my desire to play this right now. Knowing that everything I do will be lost, I just don't see the point to playing between now and the wipe. I'm not complaining, it just sucks that I have to wait until the wipe to get excited about playing again.
  15. This is another one of the changes that makes absolutely no sense to me. There was nothing wrong with the system that was in place. It showed you how much, or how little of the map you have explored, and where you have not been yet. This seems like a solution without a problem. (copied from original post)

  17. I fully expect a wipe and have no problems with that. What will it take for me to stop playing? When I stop having fun playing it.
  18. Nobody is forcing you to use tames. You can gather without them, and to be honest I find them a pain in the ass sometimes to use for gathering. Everyone has their own reasons for leaving the game....griefing, sinking of ships, tames, claiming, etc. It's not all about the animals. And as this game started out as an Ark expansion, you would think that it would be very similar in some ways. I myself like having the tames. I don't tame a lot...only what I need. Without them I would gather less, take more time to build ships, and have less to do in a game that could already use a little more content. The recent update helped tweak things that are a part of the game. They are things that mostly needed to be addressed, but personally I wish they would focus more on fixing the claim system and making it so there is always a small piece of land available for everyone, without having to sail for days in hopes of finding it. Have no fear, they are not making it so that you can't live without tames. But certain things did need to be adjusted.
  19. I'm a solo player and won't sail in anything less than a brig. The other ships can't carry the weight, or have the firepower of a brig. Now with the reduced cost of crew, I'm gonna be launching my Galleon soon. I may just run with 24 - 30 guns to keep costs down, but it can be done rather easily....just gotta pick your battles. The smaller boats I use mainly for crew transport or fast travel beds on my outposts around the map. As for the OP, sorry you lost the galleon...hope you figure out what happened because there is a lot of work that goes into building one. Next time, maybe gather mats with a sloop or schooner for short trips. Just use the bigger boats for longer trips/bigger hauls.
  20. I've been having serious issues with this myself. I made sure I had Advanced Taming Proficiency, tamed on a 2x weekend, and trapped a giraffe in a 3x3 trap (which can be a bit tricky itself sometimes). The trap was also setup on perfectly flat land. I just shot it down with a bow and arrow and then bola of course. The only place I found that I could stand relatively consistently and feed was by his/her hind legs (walk up to them from the rear). I was able to stand right beside the hoof and feed. Once you figure out the exact spot, try to drop the giraffe facing the same direction as often as possible....just makes it easier. I have only tamed one this way (my first one), but I hope the info helps.
  21. That's odd. I just tested this with gold and cannon balls (on pve server)....they are what they say they are. 105 for cannon balls both in cabinet and in my carry inventory. 140 for gold...same same. Not sure why your game is different
  22. It's also the result I got.
