  1. The screen shots you posted are so vague and nonsensical, that they could be anything. Hell, they might not be talking to you. There's no other context in the chat what they're talking about. 'Time to play ark ways' means nothing. Are they talking about griefing? Are they talking about just not sleeping? Are they talking about riding dinos around in a fur thong? Don't stress unless something happens. If they start griefing with raft blocking, etc, so be it. Report it. Otherwise, not a whole lot they can do.
  2. If it is in the same grid, I'd set a low-ish tax rate, 10% or under, to encourage people to farm on the piece of land, with my bank and builds being set up at my beach front property. More efficient to have people near it farming the spot and me getting 10%, than setting a high rate and having to go farm and transport it all myself. Additional considerations as to how productive it is are how active neighbors are, whether or not they've fully built everything they need, whether or not there are any rare resources there, and resource density. If you only have 2 or 3 neighbors, who are completely established, with plenty of their own land, with all the same resources, and theres only a handful of people in the grid at any time, your tax rate won't ever really matter. Doesn't matter if its 2% or 30%, there's nobody to farm it, and people coming to that area to farm something they don't have usually stick close to shore for convenience.
  3. Renting should be changed so that the renter has all the protections of the landowner. Basically a secondary claim flag under the owner's flag, and the only way they can be kicked off the land is through inactivity on a scale comparable to actual landowner. Additionally, if the landowner goes inactive and their flags go up for claim, the renter should automatically become the owner of whatever flags they are renting.
  4. Offline protection doesn't mean that everything instantly goes into full immunity. Everything I've seen it implemented in involves 30 minute to 1 hr timer after last person logs off, before it goes immune, with the additional protection that if you're being attacked when you log off, the offline timer never kicks in. The devs have stated that they want to make the game more accessable for solo/small group players, so I'm not sure where the second statement is coming from. The 1 person/1 claim theory does the exact opposite of that. Its all speculation, though, until Thursday afternoon's livestream, and it seems that they've decided on some fixes to try. Hopefully ones that work for most people, and bring some people back, but, time to wait and see, I guess.
  5. That would be some dedication to just demolishing a random lighthouse, tho.
  6. Yeah, that would be the ideal, I'd rather watch unbalanced ships capsize at random times, but I figured that would be a lot harder to code in than just snap points for cannons. That's the point. You shouldn't be competing with bigger ships in firepower, to beat them, you'd have to out maneuver them, staying out of range as much as possible, not sailing straight in and shotgunning them.
  7. Eh, not so much. With the upkeep cost, it would be even more accurate for the leaderboard if you took the land, kept the land, and could pay for the land. Having it based on PVP A: Encourages people to just go roflstomp everyone they see, for no reason, even more than they do now, and B: Is way too exploitable if you just feed mats to somone outside your company for them to build things for you to destroy.
  8. Damn, so they trashed your place while you went on your trip? I was an hour late heading back to my backup lawless shack, where it was just a small 2x3 shack and all the crafting stations out in the open and unlocked for people to use, with signs for Bring Your Own Mats Crafting Stationgs...still got thrashed instantly. If you guys need land, I can spare a claim for you. About a half claim wide beach in tropical, with a cliff face and shallows, extending into water deep enough to drop shipyards. Nothing huge, not much resources on it, but metal, trees, fiber and stone within walking distance.
  9. Looks like we're getting a Dev Livestream Thursday Feb 28th, 2pm PST where were get to find out what they've come up with for claim changes, etc, according to Jat's twitter. Not sure why we haven't seen an announcement or anything here, as of yet. He also threw up a post about Wildcard hiring for some jobs for Atlas development team spots, figgered I'd throw that here too, in case anyone with any game development skills was looking...
  10. Agreed. Cannons should have gunports and cutouts on the top decks where thats the only places they can be put. The meta of fitting as many cannons as possible on a ship is pretty dumb. In addition to the existing gunports, 9 cutouts along each side of the top deck, 2 front facing and about 4 chase cannons would be more than enough. Hell, I'd lower the cannons health so that if they take a solid hit, they're gone. Increase plank health, decrease sail health. Make it about who can disable the other's ship first, not just put each other on the bottom. Once they're disabled, you can board and loot, and get the choice to scuttle or capture the ship. Y'know, pirate-like things.
  11. Makes sense from one perspective, but, kills the exploration and socialization aspects if you're only going from your base to a Freeport. Additionally, from an ease of access point, Freeports are relatively few and far between. In the time it takes someone to sail 6-7 grids that they have to cross to get to a Freeport, and then the same 6-7 back, they could just stop at an island halfway there to farm the mats themselves in the time (and risk) saved. They could always do the same and farm on the island 2 grids away from them that the vendor has their shop set up on, but at that point they're spending more time farming, than they would in transit. It would also open up additional markets. if I don't have a resource near me, and travel 7 grids away and buy it from someone selling it for lets call it 1g/10 darkwood for simplicity, I can now take it back to my claim, put it on my vendor, and mark it up it to 3g/10 darkwood, or whatever my neighbors will pay, to make a profit. Hell, something harvested in L13 could be sold that way all the way up in C2, traveling through 3 or 4 middlemen, each buying and reselling at a profit the farther from the source you go.
  12. I think an easy and (hopefully) acceptable fix for all, is a flat 10-15% tax that goes directly to the landowners bank, but doesn't come out of the harvesters pocket. If you harvest 1000 wood, you get 1000 wood, game generates and sends the landowner 150. You dig up a treasure worth 2000g, you get 2000g, an extra 300g is generated and sent to the landowner. This way, the landowner still gets a cut, and the harvester doesn't suffer.
  13. Beast of a machine you got there, but I'd throw in another 8-16gb of ram, if possible. One thing I noticed is that the game is super-ram hungry. It runs fine on my box with an 8 yr old i7-2700k, 24gb of ram, and geforce 980, but, on the newer machine with an i7-7700k, 16gb of ram and a geforce 970 it would hang and auto-crash after about 10 minutes, if I had been doing anything else on that machine besides boot straight up and play atlas. Grabbed another pair of 4gb sticks and bumped it up to 24gb, haven't had a crash on it since.
  14. Search in the tames inventory for what you want to drop...ie: pars for parsley, acai for acai berries, etc...drop all. Not the perfect system a filter would be, but, at least a quicker workaround than manually dropping each stack 1 by 1 *offer apparently not valid for language localizations other than english
  15. The thing that worries me is that the patch notes say 'Playershops in freeports'. The majority of the traders I talk to would rather have it be a placeable NPC on their claims.
  16. I'll be playing on xbox also, but, be glad that it wasn't there for the early storm. I know that xbox patching usually takes a lot longer, due to having to pass certification, etc, so any issues that have/will crop up can't be fixed as quick as PC. The longer it goes before it hits EA there, the smoother you guys will have it.
  17. Aye, the naked flag claim spam is a ridiculous mechanic and needs to be done away with. And yeah, I'm hoping they implement a hex grid based claim system to prevent overlaps and just do a land wipe, while keeping player data/companies/discovery points, on both sets of servers. The problem wasn't the message, it was the messenger. The person who has consistently dumped on PVE players, and told them Man up, nancy, play pvp and take land, and blamed PvE players for every shite thing in the game, losing his land to garbage mechanics and blowing his top is really some delicious irony. Now, to top it off, insulting people because they don't share his opinion, and, hell, even the people who do agree with the wipe will probably vote against the wipe on this poll, just because his responses are more entertaining than anything the poll could ever hope to accomplish. You catch more flies with honey than you do with a toxic waste dump.
  18. I've been trying to figure out what a flying @#$@#$@#$@#$@#$@#$#@$# is. With how the normal way to mask swearing is 1 symbol for each letter, all I can come up with is 'antidisetablishment'. Anyone have any better ideas?
  19. That quote was in reference to the customer service ticket system that auto-closes tickets, and why they're not replacing items like tames and ships lost to glitches...
  20. Okay, this entertains me. A dude who has consistently slammed PVE players who were complaining that they couldn't get land by telling them to man up, play PVP where they could just take the land they needed, had his land taken (granted, though a stupid mechanic) so he wants a wipe...and lashes out at people who don't agree with him, claiming they're just voting that way for attention in an anonymous poll... Bravo, sir. He's hardcore! He's hardcore!
  21. Unanchored ships are fine. They decay fairly quickly, and I think can be pushed with other ships a bit. The anchored ones are the ones that are the issue, since they never decay and are immovable.
  22. Cant find the one that had about sitting in the chair. I swear I saw one that talked about it, but I could have been conflating it with the fast travel bed inside the point.
  23. Lighthouses in lawless are demolishable by anyone, at any time
  24. Its really not, on PvE. Haven't found too much that you can't do as a solo. Even counting the limitations there are, thats no reason to impose such a crippling one as "Solo? You only get one claim." I would suggest a day or 2 over the flat 14 days. People take 2 week camping vacations, National guard has their yearly 2 week trainings, Hell, i've had 2 week trainings at work without a laptop available. Nothing ridiculous, just an extra day or 2 to account for that.
